Warning: Tooth-ache fluffiness ahoy
When is the exact moment one falls in love? Is it when they hear their future beloved's laugh for the first time, or how the world crumbles around them when they see the smile dance in their eyes? Does it sneak upon you in the quiet moments of abstract thought, wondering about when you see them next? Or is it when you meet them once more and the breath is lifted from your chest; a weight that is always there with their absence, but melts away with the sound of their fingertips brushing yours. How you want to kiss them and come back from oblivion with your name on their lips.
When is the exact moment one falls in love? Will love creep into your mind when gazing at them, so close, yet so far and your heart dragging you to cover the distance.
When your walls tremble and your heart burns.
Does love creep in with desire, or is it a combination of human need and want of a companion? Is it there, residing in your mind as your eyes flutter with all the possibilities of you and them, or when the sunset glazes them in beams of light that you can never imagine a life without their witty replies?
Is it when you know that you will kneel with them when they have fallen, to know that when they stand, you will hold their hands as they bring you with them? Is it when you know that you will do anything to see them happy and content, with or without you?
When is the exact moment one falls in love?
Is it merely their presence, their grace?
Or perhaps it is when you know that when you hold them in your arms and know you are home.
Erik sighed, staring at the ring in his palm. Placing it in the velvet box, he tucked it within his blazer. Christine was singing; the light of her voice echoed in the shower chamber. A nymph, a siren, faery that glowed in her evanescence, unknowing, but a voice that told him she was happy.
Happy in his hearth, his sanctum – their domain.
The mask shifted as he smiled.
Indeed, this is love.
In my defence, I have been missing writing in the 'poetic' way and sometimes a break is very welcome on my muse(s).
Am I talking about the big M? The ol' razzle dazzle ring and Marriage? I think so…;)
Also, happy warm & fuzzy day :P Don't ask me why there's no angst, because the muses do what they do.
I'm reminded of the Disney song in Cinderella – 'So this is love' as I write my A/N. Man, who doesn't love a good Disney song once in a while? When I was younger I couldn't care less for this song, now it's great XD
Honestly, this can be down to interpretation for what version of Erik and Christine you like and I won't spoil it for you.
I hope you enjoyed this not-quite-a-drabble,
Enigma
P.S Who's excited for Spring? I know I am.
