I watched Jeopardy yesterday because it's a brilliant episode and also because I've been wanting to write a fic on it for AGES, and this was the result. Enjoy x.

Jenny Shepard was working late. It was the day after she'd been kidnapped and she was working late. She'd been running an op in MTAC for the last five hours, and now she had to catch up on her emails. She was exhausted.

'I'll just take five minutes on the couch,' she thought.

She grabbed a pillow and blanket from the bottom drawer of her desk, placed them on the sofa, and fell straight asleep.

Gibbs was also working late, because he couldn't bear the thought of leaving Jenny alone. He'd just gotten back from grabbing coffee, one for him, and one for Jenny. He knocked on the door of her office, and no one answered. He placed the two coffees on Cynthia's desk gently and opened the door silently, catching the sight of his ex girlfriend asleep on the sofa. A small smile came onto his face. She looked so peaceful. But that was gone in a flash as she began thrashing around.

"No. Don't kill me. JETHRO!" She screamed and bolted upright, sweat on her forehead and breathing quickly.

"Hey, hey, it's okay, I'm right here. You're okay," he rushed over to her and kneeled down beside her. "What was that about?"

She looked at him, trying to adjust to her surroundings.

"It was nothing," she said innocently and he gave her a skeptical look.

"Jen, you know you can talk to me."

"I'm fine," she lied.

He gave her another skeptical look.

"Why are you up here anyway?" She asked.

"I brought you coffee," he responded and she smiled.

"Thank you," she whispered as he left the room. "Where are you going?"

"I left it on Cynthia's desk," he explained as he came back in.

He handed her one of the cups and she immediately took a sip.

"You want to talk about the nightmare?" The Marine questioned.

"There's not really much to talk about," the redhead responded.

"Try me."

"You didn't come to save me. Dempsey did what he threatened to do and killed me, cutting me into little pieces with the knife. I was so scared," she stifled a sob and he took her hand, squeezing it. "When you didn't turn up at the deadline I thought you weren't going to come. And then when you did come and I heard the gunshot, for that single millisecond I thought... I thought I was going to die."

"I was scared too," he admitted. "I had no idea if we were going to find you in time, but thanks to your message we did."

Sadness flashed in her eyes as she remembered what she said.

"I'm so sorry about that, but it was the only way I could think of to make you understand where I was."

"Don't be, it saved your life and that's what counts."

"Maybe it did, but so did you," she told him, a small, grateful smile on her face.

He smiled in return, not one of his half smiles, but a huge one that lit up his face. A part of why she loved him so much.

"Jethro?" She asked quietly. "I'm sorry I said no to off the job on my first day back. I was new and wanted to adjust first, so if the offer still stands, I'd... I'd like to take you up on it."

"Always, Jen," he responded before he kissed her. "I love you."

Surprise came onto her face and was gone as quick as it came, and then was replaced with a smile.

"I love you too."

Thank you so incredibly much for reading!
