October 31st 1981 Godric's Hollow
I was walking through the quiet streets of Godric's Hollow. I knew exactly were I was going. When I reached the house I was appalled. The house was in complete shambles. Half the house was completely destroyed. I slowly made my way inside. The door was opened a jar.
When I got there I saw a sad site. James Potter was lying on his back his eyes devoid of life. His wand was lying right next to him. I made my way up the spiral staircase up to the second floor. The first thing I noticed was that one of the rooms had its door blasted off its hinges.
When I entered the room I saw my late "husband" lying there on the ground. Not far from him was Lily Potter lying next to a crib with a crying child.
This child had a lightning bolt scar on his forehead. This I knew had to be Lily's son Harry. I was there the day he was born. His parents named me his godmother while my younger brother Sirius was his godfather.
If Dumbledore had his way Harry would most likely live with his aunt and uncle. Lily never said much about her sister, but a lot of it wasn't very nice. Not that she did love her sister. It's just that they grew apart when she was amitted to Hogwarts.
I scooped him into my arms and tried to calm him down. "Shhh it's alright now I'm not going to hurt you," I said in a soothing tone.
Suddenly I hurt footsteps coming up the stairs. They were heavy footsteps so I knew that it was something large. I careful reached into my cloak for my wand. It's Oak with Dragon Heartstring 8 1/2 inches long.
I heard the footsteps getting closer and closer. When they were close enough I quickly spun around and pointed my wand at who ever it was.
"Woah Angela it's just me," a familiar voice said. I looked up a saw a face with a large black bushy beard.
"Oh Hagrid it's you I thought it might have been someone else," I said as I lowered my wand and breathed a sigh of relief. "What are you doing here anyways?" I asked.
"Dumbledore asked me to retrieve little 'Arry here so he can live with his aunt and uncle," Hagrid said.
I gave him a horrified look. "No Hagrid he is not going there," I said.
"Look I'm just doing what Dumbledore told me to do now hand him over please," he said.
"I know that Hagrid, but even so from what I've heard from Lily about her sister and husband neither of them are nice people they won't treat him very well," I said.
"Dumbledore says that he needs to be with his family," Hagrid said.
"I am his family," I shouted. "Lily and James named me his godmother," I said.
"That may be true, but Dumbledore said he needs to be with his own blood," Hagrid said trying to reason with me. It wasn't working. I pointed my wand at him again.
"I'm going to walk out of here Hagrid with Harry and you're going to let me or I will hex you," I said as I made my way to the door.
Hagrid knew that I wasn't kidding when I said that I would hex him so he slowly moved out of the way. "Dumbledore isn't going to like you raising Harry knowing who you were married to," Hagrid said.
"That man is not my husband. He stopped being that when he found out that I was pregnant with his child. He didn't want her," I said through the tears that were forming in my eyes.
Once I was clear of the room I grabbed the portkey that I had on me which was a simple pocket watch and vanished into the night.
I appeared infront of my house. It wasn't a very large home. It was a simple two story tall building in London, England. I walked inside to hear a small cry coming from the babies room.
I walked up the stairs being carefull not to wake Harry who had fallen asleep just before I left Godric's Hollow.
When I got to the babies room I saw my cousin Andromeda Tonks holding my daughter Jane Black.
"How is she?" I asked my cousin.
"She's better now," Andromeda said setting her back into her crib. After that she turned to me. When she saw Harry her eyes lite up. "Is that?" she asked. I nodded my head.
"This is Harry," I said.
"He looks just like his father. Except for the eyes they're his mother's," she said.
"I know," as I set Harry in the crib next to Jane.
"What's Dumbledore think of you raising your former husband's greatest threat?" Andromeda asked.
"As of this moment he knows nothing, but I'm sure he will know soon enough," I said.
"Are you sure it's alright that the two of them growing up together knowing who her father is?" Andromeda asked indicating to the now two sleeping children.
"Of course when they are old enough I will tell them everything that happened this night," I said.
"What if Harry hates you, because you were married to the one who took his parents away.
"He left me long before that," I said. "In my opinion he is no longer the man I fell in love with," I said. She nodded in understanding. "Okay now that they are asleep let's get some rest ourselves," I said.
"Yeah I could use some sleep myself," she said. With that we each went to our separate ways. Andromeda appeared to her home where her eight year old daughter Nymphadora. Who likes to go by Tonks when she is around her friends, and everyone else usually calls her Dora unless she's in trouble.
After she left I went into my room which was right next to the children's room. I had a hard time falling asleep thinking that someone was going to come in and take Harry away.
Eventually I was able to fall into a dreamless sleep.
Next Morning November 1st, 1981
The next morning I woke up to the light streaming through the curtains in my room. I slowly got out of bed and made my way into the children's room only to find them both still asleep.
What surprised me was that they were curled up next to each other in a protective way. A smile spread across my face. Maybe things will turn out alright for those two.
I went down stairs into the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee. As I was doing that someone was knocking on the door. I calmly went and opened the door.
When I did I wasn't surprised to who was standing at the door. "Come in Professor Dumbledore," I said as I opened the door all the way.
"Thank you Amelia," Dumbledore said.
He walked in calmly and we made our way to the kitchen. "Is there any thing I can get you professor coffee or pumpkin juice?" I asked as I poured my self a cup of coffee.
"No I'm fine right now," he said sitting down. After I finished fixing my coffee I sat down in the chair across from him.
"What can I do for you Professor?" I asked. "And don't say that you were in the neighborhood and decided to visit a former Hogwarts student," I said in a stern tone.
"Your right I'm not here just to pay you a visit," Dumbledore said.
"This is about Harry is it?" I asked. Dumbledore nodded his head.
"Hagrid informed me that you had taken him with you when I sent him to take Harry to live with his aunt and uncle," he said.
"I am not sending my Godson to live with that women. She loathed Lily her own sister just because she was a little bit different," I said my voice going a lot louder then I intended, because not much later I heard tiny steps coming down the stairs.
Soon my daughter and Harry came into the kitchen. "Mommy why are you yelling, and who is this man?" my daughter asked. Harry didn't say anything, but he stood extra close to Jane as if she would protect him from Dumbledore.
"Jane, Harry I would like you both to meet my former headmaster Albus Dumbledore," I said.
"Hello," both of them hesitantly said.
"Hello children how are doing on this fine day," Dumbledore said with the usual twinkle in his eye.
"I'm okay," Jane said.
"This nice lady took me from a very bad man," Harry said. At this Dumbledore turned to Harry.
"Is he the one who gave you that scar on your forehead?" Dumbledore asked Harry. To which he nodded.
"Well I think that is all I needed to know," Dumbledore said as he stood up from his chair.
"So your not going to take him away?" I asked.
"Not at all he's barely been here and already he's attracted himself to your daughter," he said. "I do have one question though," he said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Will you tell them the truth about last night?" he asked.
"I will tell them when they are old enough to understand," I said.
"That's all I needed to know," Dumbledore said. "Well you have a good day Ms. Riddle," he said.
"Don't call me that anymore I will no longer go by that name. I am taking up my maiden name Black," I said.
"Alright have a good day Ms. Black," Dumbledore said as he left the house.
'That went rather well,' I thought. As I watched the two of them play I thought that it was going to be be a peaceful life. Little did I know that a few years from now our whole world would be turned upside down.
This is my first attempt at a Harry Potter Fanfiction. In this version Harry doesn't live with the Dursleys, but with his godmother who just so happens to be the ex-wife of Lord Voldemort. He left her just before their daughter was born. Angela does not possess the Dark Mark. A few spoilers when Voldemort does return she and Jane won't join them. Hermione won't be in Gyfrindor but in Hufflepuf. Please review what you think, and if you have any ideas please PM me. Until next time
