Oh and so if everyone is wondering what Perseus spear looks like it is the Odous spear from the Assassin's Creed Odyssey Myrmidon pack. Hope you enjoy the next chapter.
Legend of the Olympians
Chapter Two: A New Land
AC 281
When everyone went through the portal the first thing they noticed was cold. For some it wasn't really that cold, maybe it was because they were just used to a warmer climate. As a New Yorker he found the Temperature even a bit warmer than it would be if it was New York this time of year.
The second thing they noticed was trees, lots and lots of trees. Perseus turned to his beloved cousin, Thalia.
"Thalia, can you bring up your best tracker?" she nodded and turned her horse back to the center of the column. A few minutes later she returned with a familiar hunter. He remembered her for his third year as the hunter that was supposed to be the one that accompanied Zoe and the others on the quest to save Artemis. That was until the Stolls poisoned her shirt and she couldn't go.
"This is Phoebe, the best tracker of the hunt." Thalia said Phoebe looked at him with a small amount of respect, which was a lot considering she was a hunter who hated men. Phoebe knew who he was, she knew that he was respected by both Zoe and her Mistress. And now in this new world she will follow him so long as Thalia does, and she knew the love her lieutenant had for her cousin.
"Thank you, cousin." he said to the lieutenant of the hunt before turning his attention to the other girl. "Since we are in a new land and currently in the woods, I ask if you could lead a scouting party ahead of us."
If it was just her sisters Phoebe would have agreed outright. Even if the request came from a man, though she knew Percy was an exception to the hate. But she knew that this scouting would involve some of his men, so she wasn't happy about it. But after a second she thought about the fact that he asked HER to lead it. Therefore he atleast didn't ask her to be ordered by some other males.
She nodded at her lieutenant's cousin and he yelled out for some others to come forward. She first grew angry at the two that looked like twins, remembering them as the reason she couldn't go on the quest, she was about to lash out but kept quiet as Thalia's hardened look. The third she noticed was one that looked like the first two but also different. She then asked Thalia if she could bring two hunters to balance it out, which she agreed.
Phoebe and the other five went into the woods ahead of the others. After about thirty minutes one of the males that looked like twins spoke. "Your name is Phoebe, right?" she turned to him shocked but only nodded. The other hunters looked at them wearily, not liking the male to talk to one of the old hunters.
"My name is Connor. Connor Stoll. Me and my brother here, Travis," he said while introducing the other one than maybe looked a year older, "want to apologize to you." Everyone looked to them confused, though Phoebe already knew what they were apologizing for. Travis continued for his brother, "Yea, you were supposed to go on the quest to save Artemis but couldn't because we poisoned this shirt we gave you." they could hear a 'really' come from their half brother Chris behind them.
Phoebe and the other hunters didn't know what to say. They all never thought that a male would apologize. Perhaps not all males are as bad as we think, she thought. She stayed silent for a moment before she nodded her head and replied, "I accept your apology." the twins smiled and the two other hunters eyes widened. Phoebe narrowed her eyes at the two and continued, "Though I will add that if you do anything like that again I will make you regret it." The twins nodded hastily
The scouting party continued for another thirty minutes before they came upon a road. They made some notes of the terrain and the condition of the road before turning around and headed back to the others.
The party returned to Perseus and told him everything that they had seen. Perseus asked Grover and Chiron if some Satyrs and Centaurs could lead them up front due to being surrounded by woods.
Over half an hour later they came upon the road that Phoebe told him about he had to make a decision. Would he go North, or go South. After some talking with some others around him he decided on South.
Since they got here they hadn't talked much, still shocked about the giant change in their lives. Everyone walked in silence for a while before Perseus decided to break the ice, "How is everyone holding up?"
Annabeth answered first, "I think everyone is still in shock, to be honest." Everyone else nodded.
Clarrise spoke up, "I'm going through the motions, but I also can't say that I'm not excited." some of them looked at her confused. She continued, "We do not belong in the modern world. My father came to us and told us how this world is. It is much like the middle ages and we will have to fight. That's what I was born for, to have a spear in my hand, not a gun."
Thalia nodded as well. "I agreeā¦.I mean, I and the other hunters are sad that Artemis is not here with us but it is a chance to prove ourselves and be in a land that humanity hasn't started to destroy."
"Yes, I'm excited also." Annabeth told everyone. Her boyfriend already knew why she was excited. They already talked about everything. "My fatal flaw has always been hubris. I believe I can create a place better than the gods. And now I believe I will get that chance. Yes it will be hard and take time, but I will finally be able to."
Chiron and Thalia smiled at her. Thalia spoke in a baby voice. "Aww little Annie gets to follow her dream." Everyone chuckled as Annabeth blushed and had a small smile on her face.
Chiron looked to the son of Poseidon "What about you, young Perseus? How do you feel about it?"
Perseus looked to Chiron, then swept to the others before turning his head forward again. "I'm not happy about it." Everyone glanced at each other. "My sister is one years old. She is too young for this change. After everything that we've been through all i wanted was a break and a normal life, but I guess the fates will never give me that." Everyone frowned at that and Chiron looked sadly at his favorite Demigod. Annabeth who was at his side pulled her pegasus closer to Blackjack and put her hand on his arm. She didn't need to say anything, they just had that connection.
"You look like you are taking this well, Perseus." Lupa spoke up for the first time. She was one of the Goddesses that was big here in this land. They were in the same woods that were named after her and her children. The Starks after all had made their banner after her.
"Do I have a choice?" He replied. "No matter what I think about myself I know everyone always looks to me for leadership. My father was right, I have to kill the boy and be the man. I don't have a choice." Everyone smiled at that. The ones who knew of his fatal flaw knew he would protect everyone.
Their thoughts were broken by a Centaur that Chiron sent ahead of them came running back to them at full speed. "Bandit's are attacking armed travelers on the road ahead. The bandits' out number them."
Instantly Perseus went into leadership mode, "How many are there?" he asked the Centaur.
"About forty of them." he replied
Perseus turned to the others. "Annabeth, you stay here and lead the caravan. Have someone go tell Frank and the others what is happening and to be on guard." he pointed to four men in the Armour that was provided for them from the gods. He recognized one was Clarrise's brother Sherman but the others he didn't know. "You four come with us, we will go help these people." they nodded.
He looked to others, "let's move." They readied themselves, "take flight, Blackjack!"
Blackjack galloped for a couple of feet before he took off into the air, the others following him. Within minutes they came across the Bandits. The first thing he noticed was the Stark banner that was waving. Starks! They are the Wardens of the North, he remembered Athena told them after she took some of the leaders of the group and told them a bit about the history of the land of Westeros and the houses. It wasn't much because they couldn't have full knowledge of them. But they did have the important parts.
The Stark men were holding their own but were few in number. Only about six remained though they did notice a bigger than average man protecting a teenage girl and a boy a few years younger than her.
"Thalia you and one other go take out the Archers! Everyone else is with me!" Perseus yelled to them over the wind. His cousin nodded and broke off from them, along with one of the four men that he brought with them.
The Demigods dive bombed the men trying to catch them unaware of them. They pulled up and jumped off of their pegasi in between the Stark men and the Bandits. They didn't have the numbers to do a cavalry charge so they decided to do what they do best fight on foot.
The Bandits stopped attacking and were unsure what to do. The Stark men didn't know if these strange armored warriors were friend or foe. Finally one of the bandits got impatient and attacked Perseus. Before the man knew what happened the Atlantean Steel spear ripped through his neck. Without a moment's hesitation he pulled his spear out, spun, and slashed a bandit across the stomach.
The other Demigods started attacking also, Clarrise was like a whirlwind of destruction. Reyna was also in her element, though she was more tempered and strict then Clarrise. Nico and Jason were fighting together, watching each other's backs.
All of the Stark men including the bigger man, the girl, and the younger boy were amazed by these warriors who had saved them. It was the one with the whitish Silver armor that amazing them though.
They watched as he twirled his spear around with both hands, every movement had a purpose. He spun under one man's sideways slash and cut his leg off from the back of the knee causing the man to fall down and be met with a spear to the chest. He let go of the spear and pulled out a beautiful sword that was about three feet long. The blade was the same material as the spear and the armour.
The Northerners thought that he was skilled before. But watching the man with a sword in his hand they were blown away at how skilled he was. He fought off three men before rolling under another strike and jumping up and stabbing the man in the side of the neck.
The Lord ordered his man to help out the warriors. After about fifteen minutes of fighting all of the Bandits were dead. Perseus and the others went up to what remains of the Stark party.
Perseus took off his helm causing the girl to gasp and blush and the others to look stunned at this great warrior looking no older than a green boy. "Is everyone alright?" he asked
The bigger man stepped up to him, "Aye my family and I are ok." He paused and looked around as some of his dead men. "I lost a few good men today, though." he turned back to Perseus. "My name is Lord Rickard Stark, Warden of the North. May I ask for yours?"
"Perseus," he replied. "Perseus Jackson." Perseus then in turn introduced the others. Some of them were shocked that women were among them, not to mention how skilled they were.
Pulled the girl and boy forward. "This is my daughter Lyanna and my youngest son Benjin." Rickard looked them over before he spoke. "You look like you aren't from around here, Definitely not from the North anyway."
Perseus looked to the others before nodding and replied, "Aye we came from across the sea to the west." Telling the Story that they all came up with. The Northerners' eyes widened, they believed that there was no land to the west. Perseus continued, "Our lands were destroyed so our people had to flee. We are trying to find a new land to rebuild and start over."
Rickard looked on with a bit of sympathy and a thoughtful expression on his face. "Where are your people at right now?"
"Down the road, there." Perseus said while pointing towards where he came from. "We were traveling this way when some of our scouts reported you being attacked."
"Well since you saved my life you and your people may travel back to Winterfell, my castle, with me. Perhaps we can talk about land when we get there." Rickard said.
Perseus nodded and looked to the sky and yelled, "Come down, Blackjack!" The Northerners looked at the sky confused as to why the young man would yell to the sky. Those confused stares turned looks of awe and gasps as the pegasi flew down and landed next to the group.
Yo boss, you ok? Perseus' faithful pegasi asked as he came up to him and nuzzled his head.
"I am fine, Backjack." He turned to Jason."Go back and tell the others what happened and lead them here. They shouldn't be too far behind." Jason agreed and jumped on his pegasus and took off in the sky.
Lyanna practically ran up to them in awe. "A horse with wings? They are so beautiful." I am not beautiful, I am handsome! Do I look like a mare? Perseus chuckled at Blackjack's reply. He could hear Porkpie say I always thought you looked like a mare. The other Pegasi all snorted and laughed. Blackjack started to turn to his friend but Perseus grabbed the rains and pulled his head back.
"Behave," he said. The Pegasi all hated the fact that they now had to wear saddles but they agreed due to traveling on land.
Perseus turned back to Lyanna, "Yes they are, they are called pegasi, or pegasus if it's only one."
"They are from the land you came from?" the girl asked as she asked if she could pet Blackjack. When Blackjack agrees then Perseus allows her to.
"You act as if you are talking to them and they can understand you." She tells him. The other Demigods snorted, knowing that he can. Rickard noticed this as well but didn't voice it.
"Would you believe me if I told you I could?" Perseus asked them. The Stark guardsmen voiced their doubts, but the Starks were intrigued. "Very well, he smirked. He walked away from them back to his friends , "I want you to stand there with your hands behind your back and hold up a number and Blackjack will TELL me what number you hold up." He didn't know why he was doing it but perhaps it was because he wanted to show the Starks who they were.
Lyanna held up three fingers and all the northerners behind her waited eagerly to see what would happen. Three! Blackjack neighed
"Three" the Northerners gasped. Lyanna held up seven fingers this time. Seven! "Seven," Perseus said. Lyanna decided to move faster.
Ten! "Ten", Six "Six",Ten, again! "Ten", Zero! "Zero". Lyanna held up the number nine. Two! "Two". Lyanna stared at him. Blackjack started galloping around laughing. Hahaha got ya, boss it was a nine. Perseus shook his head at his pegasi's joke. "Very funny," The northerners looked confused. "It was a nine. Apparently someone has jokes." They all looked shocked at first but then started chuckling, they realized he could actually talk to horses and were staring at him with awe.
Rickard ordered his men to have the bodies of his fallen men put on a cart to take back to Winterfell. He had the dead bodies of the bandits moved. A few minutes after they finished they saw the convoy coming toward them. When they came closer the first two things they noticed were the Direwolf, or what they thought was a Direwolf, and the half horse half man. They then noticed the young woman that was leading them and many of the Northman thought she was beautiful and wouldn't mind a night with her. The one they knew as Jason riding next to her.
Annabeth, Jason, Lupa, and Chiron came to a stop in front of the Starks. Annabeth got off of her pegasus and went to stand next to her boyfriend. The Northernmen were still staring at the two non-humans, Chiron in awe and Lupa in both awe and fear. Lupa smirked and sat on her hind legs and puffed up her chest trying to look as intimidating and regal as she could.
Perseus brought his girlfriend forward to introduce her. "Allow me to introduce my-" "betrothed," Annabeth interrupted, remembering some of the quick lessons on how they talked in this world. They didn't have words like girlfriend or boyfriend. "Yes my betrothed, Annabeth," Perseus continued while smiling down at her. Lyanna looked sad, hoping with this new possible lord here in the North she might be able to convince him to call off the betrothal with Robert. Rickard nodded his head to her, he realized that since she didn't offer her hand their culture was different from their own.
Perseus let go of Annabeth and stepped over to Chiron, "This is Chiron, Trainer of Heroes. He is what's known as a Centaur. We have a little less than two dozen of his brethren with us." Chiron bowed to the Warden of the North.
Lord Stark wanted to ask about the Trainer of Heroes part but decided to save it for later. He bowed to the Centaur and noticed Perseus moved over to the giant wolf and held his hand out to her and looked back. "And may I introduce Lupa, Goddess of Wolves and mother of the great empire that was Ancient Rome." The Northerners didn't know what to say. They believed in the old gods but didn't believe some Direwolf was a goddess.
"I can assure you, Northmen, it is true." Lupa told them knowing what they were thinking. The Starks and their guardsmen recoiled in surprise, the last thing any of them expected was for this wolf to talk.
"Yes, my name is Lupa, known as the Wolf Goddess. All Direwolves are descended from me. Therefore it is my picture that you have on your banner, Lord Stark. I remember when I once walked among you people and in Winterfell." Lord Stark hastily knelt down to the Wolf Goddess.
"Milady. It is truly an honor." Lyanna, Benjin and the other Northmen knelt down as well. A voice from behind the Mother of Rome spoke up.
"I hope you are harming our hosts, Lupa." The Starks looked up and gasped again, it seemed to be a theme for them lately. A beautiful middle aged woman in a brown shawl walked up to them. What shocked them though was that her entire eyes were made of a calm fire.
Annabeth began to introduce her. "Lord Stark, it's my pleasure to introduce Lady Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth, Home, and Family. Eldest child of the Titan Kronos and Rhea. Elder sister to the ones the faith of the seven call the Father, or Storm God to others, the Stranger, and the one the Ironborn call the Drowned God." Perseus snorted when Annabeth said Drowned God.
The Northmen realized that they just met one goddess so why not another. They knelt down to her. "It's truly an honor, milady."
After the introductions they decided to get back to traveling. Since they are a little over a day from Winterfell they decided to continue talking on the move.
"Let me get you a horse, Lady Hestia." Perseus told her. When they all mounted on theirs.
"You are fine, Perseus. I'm going to go back to the wheelhouse to ride with your mother. I quite enjoy holding your baby sister and hearing the many embarrassing stories of you as a child. Perseus groans and the Demigods laughed, especially Thalia and Annabeth since they remember some of them.
The following day they finally came upon Winterfell. Annabeth was nearly drooling from the size and structure of the castle. After another hour of traveling they entered through the gates. Annabeth even more in Awe of the castle as she went through it. Near the back of the caravan Leo, Nyssa, Jake, and the other children were impressed at the structure of the castle. The Cyclops, while impressed at the way these humans built an impressive castle, wasn't as impressed as the others due to them both being around and building far greater buildings and structures.
Some of the people and carts were able to fit into Winterfell's walls while some stayed outside and were then placed in guest rooms or built tents. When Lord Stark along with the main Demigod group came up to the main courtyard they were greeted by Brandon Stark. Everyone that was in the courtyard to greet their lord started whispering among themselves when the strange companions that were with Lord Stark.
"Father, I'm glad to see you alright. I got your message that you were attacked on the road." Brandon hugged his father, sister, and youngest brother.
"Aye I was. Though I was saved by these men and women." Rickard said whilepoint to Perseus and the ones closest to him.
"Thank you for saving my family." Brandon said. Perseus nodded.
Rickard began the many introductions between his Heir and his hopefully new bannermen. "Have you done as I asked and prepared as many rooms as we can spare for our guests, they have had a long Journey?" Brandon nodded. "Good let's let them get settled in."
Later at dinner Rickard Handed Perseus and Annabeth a map. "I figured I'd give you a map of the layout of our land that you can look over. It shows the borders of my and my bannermen. You asked me if you could have land on the sea that is also open." They both nodded as they opened the map and looked it over. "Fortunately I do have Land that meets your criteria and is under my control that has no lord. You can talk it over with you people and then if you agree we can all negotiate."
"Where is this land located, Lord Stark?" Perseus asked.
"Sea Dragon Point."
A/N: Chapter Two is complete! I really hope you liked it. You all might wonder how the Northmen believed that they were goddesses so easy. Well that is why I had him introduce Lupa first. I figured that they would believe in such a thing as a wolf goddess. I hope you all dont feel that it was rushed. This is just building and I wanted to get the main parts out of the way. See you next time and please review.
