The Leader Of The Pack
Once they were running, Taffyta, Candlehead and Rancis were in the back when the Double Dan brothers got in front of them.
Candlehead: I'm running now. This is me running.
Big Dan: And just where do you think you three are going?
Little Dan: Yeah, going?
Rancis: Um, I don't usually… make thinking a habit, but Shank is right. Besides, I'm hungry. Come on, ya'll. Let's go find some caribou.
They then left with the brothers trying to get them to come back but they weren't listening to them.
Big Dan: Get back here! I order you!
Little Dan: Yeah, order you!
When they finally reached the rest of the pack, Ralph was already giving everyone orders of what to do.
Ralph: The ice path will only hold for a short time. Buddy up, then stick with your partner in case either of you needs help. I'll lead. Mush! Uh, I mean, move out!
They began running on the bridge with Shank and Vanellope at the back of the line. Shank was having a little trouble getting around with Vanellope behind her to make sure that she didn't collapse or something. While they were running, the brothers were trying to stop them, but nobody was listening.
Big Dan: No! You'll all die!
Little Dan: Yeah, all die!
Shank was looking back at them when the ice floe that Shank and Vanellope was on cracked underneath them. Vanellope was able to jump away but Shank wasn't fortunate because the ice started floating away with her on it. Vanellope noticed and called out to her which made the others turn back and call out as well.
Vanellope: Shank!
Wolves: Shank! Shank!
Vanellope then jumped on it, but her top half only made it while her bottom was in the water. She tried to climb up but she couldn't and Shank was trying to pull her up as well, but she was also failing. While that was going on, Ralph ran up front to see what was going on and saw that part of Vanellope was in the water and Shank was trying to pull her up. Ralph and the wolves were calling out to them.
Wolves: Let them go! Shank!
Ralph: Vanellope!
While Shank was still trying to pull her up, they made the ice floe turn around to where they were facing some more ice and heading towards it. Shank has lost her grip on Vanellope which made her slip further and since they were getting closer to it, she ducked under the water before the ice floe could crash. When it did, Shank was worried that Vanellope was dead but she wasn't. Vanellope was swimming underwater while trying to find a way up the surface when she saw light shining through. She swam toward it but she had to swim a narrow passageway and got stuck a little bit but she was able to get free and swam up. She broke the surface and swam towards Shank and when she did, Shank had pulled her up and Ralph was calling out to her.
Ralph: Vanellope, are you all right?
Vanellope: Yes. You go on with the rest of the pack. I'll get Shank.
They didn't want to leave them behind but they had to so Ralph told her to be careful.
Ralph: Be careful, Vanellope.
Once they were leaving, Vanellope heard a growl from behind and turned to see Big Dan charging right towards them. Little Dan stayed behind because Big Dan told him to. He slammed right into Shank and knocked her out when she harshly fell on the ice. Big Dan then stalked towards her and decided to finish her off.
Big Dan: The old ways will die along with you, Old One.
He almost placed his jaw on the back of her neck and tried to break it but Vanellope stopped him.
Vanellope: Stop!
He turned his attention to her to see that she was growling at him and he started walking towards her when Shank was waking up.
Big Dan: You! I will teach you to mind your place!
Vanellope: My place?
They then started fighting with each other when Shank watched Big Dan pinning Vanellope on the ground. She got up and jumped on his back which made him shake her off. Once she got knocked out again, he went back to Vanellope when she was trying to get up. He almost pinned her when they heard Ralph calling his name.
Ralph: Big Dan!
Big Dan: Huh?
They saw Ralph climbing up on the ice where they were and Big Dan started backing up when Vanellope was talking to Ralph.
Ralph: Leave her be!
Vanellope: Papa, you should be with the rest of the clan. You've got to lead them across.
Ralph: I will, once I take care of him.
They began growling at each other when the raven flew between them and toward the ice floe that's floating the rest of the pack away. They were howling when Ralph and Vanellope ran to the edge to see what was happening. Shank then told them that they had to go but Big Dan jumped in front of them so they couldn't go anywhere.
Shank: We must go.
Big Dan: No! No one's going anywhere.
Vanellope: But the clan!
Big Dan: They've chosen their fate. Now they will die.
Ralph: Shank, Vanellope and I can hold Big Dan off while you get to the clan. They need someone to lead them.
Vanellope: But, Papa, Shank won't be able to make the swim.
Shank: She is right. Only my spirit is strong now.
Since she said that, Ralph turned to Big Dan to tell him something.
Ralph: You wanted to be a leader, Big Dan. Well, now's your chance. You and your brother. Go!
He turned to look at himself in the water then at the clan, but he refused to go. He ran to the other direction and stopped at the edge of the ice floe.
Big Dan: I–I-I won't. We'll never leave our land. Never!
The ice then cracked beneath him and he fell in the water. Ralph and Vanellope went to see if he was ok. Ralph slipped and almost fell in the water, but Vanellope grabbed him before he could.
Vanellope: Papa!
They then looked at the water and weren't able to see Big Dan until they heard a splash at the shore. They saw Big Dan swimming to the shore where Little Dan was waiting for him. While they were ok, Ralph and the others were thinking about what to do about the clan. Ralph was willing to help Shank swim over but she knew she couldn't. He then decided to go but Vanellope told him no.
Ralph: I can help you swim over, Shank. No. You're right. You won't make it. I'll go.
Vanellope: No. You don't belong here, Papa. you belong with my mother. But I do belong here. It's my destiny.
Shank: Aniu told me it would be the one… who is wolf but does not know. I believed it was you, but I was wrong. It is your daughter.
She then left them alone so they could talk in private. Once she left, Ralph asked Vanellope if she was sure about going and she nodded yes.
Ralph: Are you sure? It's just so hard to let my baby go.
Vanellope: Papa, I'm not your–.Okay. So I'll always be your baby. Good-bye, Papa. Tell Mom I've finally found my home.
She then jumped in the water and swam towards the clan while Ralph remembered the day she was born and when she and her siblings were playing with him on the beach. Then the flashbacks ended when he saw that she finally made it to the clan. Right when she got there, Taffyta had helped pull her up. Once she was on the ice, she looked at her dad and began to howl along with the others which made Ralph happy.
Ralph: Good-bye, Daughter.
While they were howling, Muru had come and howled with her for a second and then left in the mist. They kept howling until they were out of sight and once they did, Ralph went to the shore and saw Shank standing there watching them leave as well.
Shank: She will be a great leader. And now it is time for you to go home.
Ralph: What about you? You're alone now. Where will you go?
Shank: I will find the Double Dan Brothers. We are still a clan… and would not be whole without each other. Good-bye, my brother.
She then left to go find the Dan Brothers with Ralph by himself. He started to walk in the other direction when he heard the raven cawing behind but instead of turning around, he just asked it.
Ralph: Now what?
Aniu: Only the journey home, my son.
Not expecting to hear a female voice or any voice however, he turned around and saw a beautiful female white wolf sitting down. Taking a good look at her, he remembered who she was.
Ralph: Aniu, you're my- -
Instead of answering with words, she just nodded her head and howled while disappearing in the mysterious fog. When she disappeared, Ralph said goodbye to her as well.
Aniu: Whoooo!
Ralph: Goodbye to you, too, Mother.
He then turned and began walking in the direction where his home is and confident that his mother is following and protecting him on his journey and forever be with him until the day he dies.
