You don't get to call me Dora ever again." Tonks was angry, quite possibly angrier then Remus had ever seen /He was slightly afraid she would choose to curse him since her wand was still at the ready and carefully chose his words. He had no doubt she could curse him and Mad Eye would help her hide the body. "All right, Tonks. Please, we should do this somewhere a little less in public."br /"Why? Are you scared of what people might think? As usual?" she was on fire, as evidenced by her now flaming red /That stunned him for a moment, he hadn't known she'd gotten her morphing powers back. "It wasn't about what people think. It never was. Although, it is true people talk, and us being together was always going to be a gossip topic."br /"Again, I will repeat what I've told you a million times. I don't care. Let them talk, let them say whatever the bloody hell they want, I love you and that's all that matters."br /"No, it isn't all that matters. You are in danger, because you love me." Remus would have liked nothing more then to simply give in, take her in his arms and just never let go, but the werewolves were still an issue and a /"Do you not think I can take care of myself? Do you not think I should get the chance to choose? Why do you get to make these decisions instead of talking with me? You. Just. Left." Tonks was breathing hard in her anger. It had made her feel a bit better to yell at Remus like she'd wanted to for weeks. She poked her wand into his chest with each /He took a step back, unsure of what to say. What was there to argue? She was right and he knew it. He took a moment to think carefully. "Tonks, I can't let anything happen to you. I can't live in a world where you've been hurt or killed because of me. Yes, you are capable, that I know. And yes, I love you. More then I should."br /She didn't say anything. She hadn't expected him to admit that she was /He continued, "I should talked with you instead of leaving. But it wouldn't have changed what I had to do to protect you. Dora, I cannot let anything happen to you." He was honest with her, but nothing had changed. He still couldn't let himself be with her, not with the risks being what they /"Remus. There's a war brewing. Nobody and nothing is safe. We need to just take what we can and enjoy it while we can. You and me? We love each other and nothing and no one should be able to take that away." Tonks' voice was steady, but there were tears in her /This time it was his turn not to say anything. Her words sounded like she was predicting a dire future and he was almost afraid she was. He did not want to know a future without her, no matter the cost. But he did know the present without her and that had been bearable only because he thought it was keeping her /She reached for his face, lightly tracing the scars with her fingers, the way she had done before he shoved her out of his life. Remus had to admit Tonks was the first person he'd not been ashamed to show the scars to. They simply didn't bother her. Slowly, she leaned into him and pressed her lips against his. "You and me? This works, Remus. We can figure out the rest." she /Remus relaxed as she leaned into him. He did love her so very much. "Whatever it takes, Dora. I'm not leaving again."br /They stood together, oblivious to the rain falling around them./p
