174Chapter 28: Retrieval

"Is there any reason we have to do this in a stuffy, closed hall?" Aizawa asked as he shifted his capture scarf to try and let some air in.
"Sorry, we can't risk the Shie Hassaikai see us mobilize and be warned from before." Kenji apologized, "Hisashi Midoriya will brief you now."
Hisashi stepped forward and took a deep breath as he gauged the people in front of him. Nedzu had lent much of the UA staff; Aizawa as a failsafe, Cementoss to combat Mimic, Thirteen for rescue efforts, and Ectoplasm to produce sheer numbers against the small time thugs. Besides, Rock Lock, Crust, Orca and Wild Wild Pussycats had also volunteered for the operation.
"I hope all of you have had time to go over the case file and look at everyone's quirk. We do have a rough layout but unfortunately that may change due to one of the members' quirks." Hisashi looked to see if anyone had any questions before continuing, "We can expect heavy resistance from the beginning. Wild Wild Pusssycats and Ectoplasm will hold the initial wave to rid of the small-time thugs as soon as possible. Crust will secure perimeters with Thirteen and aid in rescue where needed while also helping the offense team. Rock Lock and the Gang Orca will be the brute force through."
"Some of the members have good fighting quirks. Wouldn't more combat heroes be good?" Rock Lock pointed out.
"Orca and Crust are both top 10 heroes. I'm sure they are capable enough. If we chose combat heroes, we would require a multitude of them, and stronger heroes would ring alarm bells. This is the best we can do without alerting them." Hisashi replied.
"I suppose there's more?" Crust asked pointing to the large police gathering.
"There are 2 squads of Riot Police going with you. They can handle the thugs, which will allow Wild Wild Pussycats and Ectoplasm more time and a better chance to help with the raid."
"Is it really wise to go head first without a plan? I mean they do have a hostage!" Thirteen sounded conflicted.
"Not to worry, there's a secret entrance that they don't seem to know about. The SWAT team will enter through that point and ensure a quick rescue. Cementoss will accompany them to ensure the passage remains open."
"So, what, we are just Cannon fodder?" Tiger asked.
"All of us are. There will be another police team who will purposely mess up to throw the Yakuza of the main rescue team. We already have bugs inside to account for Eri's location and Nedzu and I will be in the command center." Hisashi finished off.
"That seems logical. We can't have you go in with one squad, and not be able to offer crucial information to the others." Aizawa agreed.
"If that's all understood, I should say that you won't be travelling together. The riot police with Ectoplasm and Orca will attack the front door, but only before asking about a warrant search first. SWAT rescue team will use the secret route while the other SWAT team will attack from the rear. Thirteen, we expect you to create havoc so as to keep Mimic and Overhaul distracted from the rescue team. The assault team will slip in through the side entrance for a pincer attack." Kenji informed, "Are we clear!?"
There was no words in response, but the air was filled with confidence as everyone gave a determined nod.
Hisashi smiled, "Tsukauchi, you'll be carrying out field interrogations to ensure we didn't miss anything crucial."
"Understood sir."
Hisashi then motioned the SWAT team and Aizawa closer, "Weasel, you're in charge. Mandalay will help us ensure comms even if radio connection is cut. Fox, once we get Eri, you'll be in charge of calming her and running for it. Rest of the team will cover." The covert ops nodded in understanding.
"Aizawa, you'll have to run around the entire battlefield to offer your quirk where needed. Crust will ensure you reach where you need to unharmed."
"Understood. But, wouldn't it be better for Orca or another hero to assist the bait police team as well?" Aizawa asked with concern.
Hisashi smiled, "Don't worry, they can handle it."
"All right, the main assault has started. Thugs are offering heavy resistance but the heroes have it under control. Hero assault team has also breached. Start the mission." The radio transmission cackled in.
Weasel looked back at his comrades, "Fox and I have the front. Cementoss and Shark will be in the middle to approach both sides in case of an attack. Dove will scout from the rear."
There was no vocal reply, only a grim nod and the five set off through the secret entrance.
The team had almost reached the end when Weasel and Fox both hit into a solid barrier and bounced off, "What the heck!?" Fox hissed.
"I don't see anything. It must be an invisible barrier." Dove commented from behind, activating his quirk.
"Looks like boss and Mimic was right. There is a secret tunnel." Tengai appeared at the end of the tunnel, "I suppose the rest were bait? How unheroic."
Shark stepped forward and manifested a gigantic blade with which he struck the barrier with immense force. Tengai looked afraid for a second but grinned when he saw the attack didn't faze the barrier.
"Hah! There's no way you can get me. You're stuck! I'll have mimic know and he'll cru-" Tengai couldn't finish as Weasel suddenly appeared behind him and struck him unconscious, "Secure him." He ordered.
Fox stepped forward to cuff him, "Cementoss, you have to act quicker. The whole reason you're part of this team is to ensure the tunnel is clear."
"Sorry," The hero apologized, "The tunnel is burrowed through the ground, so there's no cement to manipulate. And I didn't want to waste the little bit in my gourd."
"Still, try to cover our asses once we get Eri."
Cementoss nodded, "How did you get past the barrier anyway?"
"I used my quirk. It allows me to phase through things." Weasel said and put up a hand before Cementoss could argue, "Yes, the higher-ups know. No, it is not a crime."
Cementoss was surprised and was about to press further but Weasel gave the signal to move again, "Anything from command?" Weasel asked.
"Overhaul is on the run but he isn't bugged. So we aren't entirely sure." Fox replied.
"Dove, see anyone?"
"No, but I do see a set of traps along one of the routes. We should be able to find them if we follow the path." Dove replied.
"That's unnecessary." Hisashi's voice crackled over the radio.
"Why?" Cementoss asked.
"Orca breached through the East and the main assault team has taken care of most of the thugs and is about to enter the South Gate. If you hold position, Overhaul will be forced towards you."
"But they can still escape North!"
"YOSH, DON'T WORRY, WE SHALL COVER THAT, OR I'LL BE FORCED TO RUN 10000 LAPS!" Another voice yelled through the radio, and then there was a loud crash.
Shark shook his head, "This was supposed to be covert…"
Cementoss gulped, what exactly did he land himself into?
