"A Kwami?"
Nooroo, the Kwami of emotion looked to his new holder and nodded.
"Yes, I'm the Kwami of emotions. Anyone wearing my Miraculous will have the power to create champions."
"Champions?"
"Superheroes," he rephrased. "They'll follow your orders, and-"
"Do they need to be heroes?"
The Kwami of emotion thought for a moment. A look of dread seemed to come across his face. "Well... No. But the Miraculous shouldn't be used for evil! They're used to create heroes that help the world!"
"Enough!" The Kwami flinched as a foot stomped on the ground, making the many white butterflies fly up off the floor they've been resting on. "I will use the Miraculous any way I please. Then once I have the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous, I'll have total power!" Their hand rests on the purple broach pinned to their shirt.
Nooroo looked down. There was no way to change his new holder's mind.
"Nooroo." The Kwami looked up "Dark wings rise!"
Nooroo disappeared once he flew into the purple broach. The butterflies surrounded the holder, and burst apart, revealing someone with a masculine figure. They wore a silver butterfly-shaped mask over their eyes, a purple v-neck shirt with a black collar underneath, and draped over their shoulders was a black blazer with a purple high-neck collar. They wore black pants with purple butterfly designs that almost seemed to glow on the hem, and black dress shoes
They examined their hands, now covered by black fingerless gloves, and in their left hand was a purple cane.
"... From this day forth... I am Hawkmoth!"
In his room, Evan Hansen let out a scream. His mom wasn't home, so he was all alone with some sort of tiny flying demon.
"WHAT ARE YOU?!"
Evan has witnessed a lot of things in his seventeen years of living, but he's never seen this- A floating creature that emerged from a little black box with a weird inscription on the lid when he opened it.
He didn't even know where it came from. He found it on his dresser and believed it was a gift from his mom, but she would never give him something like... This!
"Don't worry!" It tried to ease Evan's worries, but it wasn't working.
"What were you doing in that box? Are you gonna kill me? Am I going to hell? Are you a demon?!"
"EVAN!" The creature screamed, and the anxious boy stopped talking, but he was still shaking. The red creature sat in midair patiently, showing it would not hurt him "Are you okay?"
Evan hesitated for a moment, but then nodded "N-not really."
The creature felt pity for the boy, and their look softened "I'm guessing you weren't expecting me, we're you?"
"No, I wasn't." He looked back at the box that he dropped on his bed in shock after opening it "Were you trapped inside of that box?"
The creature shook its- or rather, her, head "Not exactly."
"Where did you even come from? W-what are you, exactly?" He had so many questions
The creature blinked "Well, I'm a Kwami! My name is Tikki, the Kwami of creation, and the partner of the Ladybug hero."
Evan was once again at a loss for words "Ladybug?"
Tikki, apparently, dove towards the box resting on Evan's bed. When he took another look, he saw that there were black earrings inside. These earrings are called a Miraculous. Kwamis like me live in them."
Evan nodded, somewhat understanding "Okay... Do the earrings do anything?"
Tikki began to get excited "They do! When you put them on, you'll have the ability to transform into a Ladybug superhero!"
"S-superhero?" He couldn't be a superhero! He could barely talk to people without muttering a sorry every five seconds! "I-I can't do th-that!"
"But you were chosen!" Tikki urged "The guardian of the Miraculous saw you as the perfect fit!"
"Who's the guardian?" He asked
"I can't tell you that." Tikki answered, "But he chose you because he saw that you have a kind heart, and you're willing to put others before yourself."
A tint of red appears on his cheeks "Well, that's nice, but-" A thought occurs "Was the Guardian in my room?!"
Tikki does an eye roll "He was, but only to place the box on your dresser." This makes Evan calm down "And you're going to be an amazing hero" She dropped down, and Evan instinctively held his hands out for her to sit comfortably in "I've only known you for a few minutes, and while you seem a little nervous, I can tell there's some bravery in you."
Evan looks back at the box, and focuses on the black earrings. He turns back to Tikki "So, if I put on those earrings, will they give me powers?"
The Kwami in his hands nods "They will! But only use them when necessary."
"Like when?"
Tikki looked down solemnly "There are people out there who use the Miraculous for their own selfish purposes. One has already fell into the wrong hands, and well, if it's not retrieved, the world may never be the same again."
Evan tries not to hyperventilate at such news "What Miraculous is missing?"
"The Butterfly and Peacock." Tikki sounded mournful "The Guardian is worried they'll be used for evil, that's why he is searching for wielders of the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous. The two most powerful Miraculous of all!"
The blonde froze, "T-t-two most pow-powerful Miraculous?!" He looked ready to faint, knocking he was in possession of a very powerful piece of jewelry.
"That's right. He split the Miraculous between you and the future Chat Noir." Tikki waves her hands in a 'don't worry gesture.' "Together, you and Chat Noir will defeat any evil that comes your way!"
Evan becomes a little more confident at those words. "You think so?"
"I know so! I have faith in you, Evan!"
"..."
"... Evan?"
"Thank you." The Kwami could see a small smile appear on his face. "I re-really needed to hear that."
Tikki smiled and nuzzled against his cheek, "Well it's the truth."
"... So who has the Butterfly and Peacock miraculous?"
"No one knows," Tikki admitted, "The Guardian is worried about Nooroo and Dusuu, the Butterfly and Peacock Kwami's, well-being and the Miraculous themselves." She sighs, "I do miss them."
"Well..." He takes a deep breath "However long it takes, I'll get him back." Tikki smiles and looks over to the earrings still in the box. "So, do I have to get my ears pierced?"
In his room, Connor stares intensely at the tiny black imp floating in front of him.
After a few more seconds of total silence, the young Murphy poked the tiny demon, making it frown.
"Don't poke me!"
"I'm high, right?"
"You're not high, kid, I'm real."
Connor scoffed, "Yeah, sure. I opened a black box, and a cat demon flies out of a ring. I'm definitely high."
The floating creature smacked him across the face with his... Hand, and Connor finally realized.
"Oh, fuck, you're real."
"Yeesh. The mouth on this one." The creature flies around Connor's room. "You got any snacks around her?" It sniffs the air, and dives into a pile of laundry on the floor before emerging. "That is not cheese!"
Connor tried to understand this situation a little better, but it was just hard to grasp. He found a black box with strange markings on his bed. When he opened it, he found a silver ring that started glowing, and a few seconds later, a cat-looking creature flew out. This kids of thing doesn't just happen.
He got up from his bed, walked over to the creature who was floating in mid-air, and poked its- or, his cheek, still perplexed. In response, the creature swatted his finger away.
"Stop that! I'm not a plush toy, I'm a Kwami! My name's Plagg."
Connor frowns in confusion, "What the hell is a Kwami?"
Plagg rolls his eyes, "Okay long story short." He points to the ring still in the box "That ring is a Miraculous. When you put it on, you'll have the ability to transform into a superhero. You have the Cat Miraculous." Connor walked over to his bed and picked up the box.
"So, will I get like, powers, or something?"
"Yeah, the power of destruction," he said nonchalantly.
Connor immediately dropped that box back on his bed like it was on fire. "Fuck, my power is destruction?!"
"Yeah, but don't worry, you'll have control over it," he assures. "Now as for the Ladybug Miraculous holder, they'll have the power of Creation."
Cautiously, Connor picked the box back up again, "Where did this even come from?"
"The Guardian. He holds the other Miraculouses and keeps them from being used for evil." He looks down "... But, he lost two."
"Which Miraculous?"
"The Butterfly and Peacock. We don't know who have them but the Guardian passed out the Ladybug and Blacl Cat Miraculous to those he deemed capable to get them back," Plagg explained
Connor looks confused. "I'm worthy? Me?" Plagg cocks his head to the side. "No one has ever said that to me. You've got the wrong guy." He frowns, "I can't do this."
"Kid, I've had holders just like you before. They all said the same thing," he explained. "Don't beat yourself up. You'll be a great hero."
Connor looked back at the ring.
"Well?"
"..."
He answered by slipping the ring on his finger.
