It was a normal day within the Fairy Tail guild, much calmer than usual. There were groups of people being rowdy as usual, the one being in the center as always was the fire dragon slayer Natsu Dragneel. Just as normal as the Fairy Tail guild could be, except for one oddity: Erza Scarlet was staring at the fire Dragon Slayer very... Intensely. She was staring at Natsu, not even focused on the slice of strawberry cheesecake in front of her. Erza looked over her shoulder with a small smile gracing her lips.
'I never noticed how handsome Natsu really is...'
The redhead could not help it. She kept staring at Natsu and smiling, taking in all of his features. From the way his pearly white teeth glistened as he smiled widely, his chiseled chin, his well-toned muscles, his olive-green pupils to even his spiky wild hair, Erza couldn't help but gaze at all Natsu had. 'I think I will go speak with Natsu.'
"Erza, where do you think you're going?" Hearing the familiar voice of Fairy Tail's barmaid made the knight flinch and turn around.
"I am going to discuss some mission plans with Natsu, is there a problem Mira?" Erza spoke in a rather calm tone while keeping a small smile on her face. 'Why must she get in the way? You better be quick, Mirajane Strauss!'
"Well, it's just that you haven't touched your slice of strawberry cheesecake and you've been staring at Natsu for quite some time..." Normally, Mirajane would tease Erza about her actions, however, she felt that this was somewhat alarming since she didn't eat her food or even take a sip of her drink. She didn't even attempt to talk to anyone near her, the redhead just stared at Natsu and seemed content with that. "Is everything alright? You're not sick, are you? Do you need anything?"
'What I need is to talk to Natsu and you are getting in my way!' "Oh no, Mira. I assure you that I am fine." Erza raised her eyebrows as she thought of something. "As a matter of fact, I'll be taking this cheesecake and sharing it with Natsu." She quickly picked up her plate and turned around, making her way towards Natsu. She decided to use the cake for either two choices: A. she would actually share it with Natsu and cutely feed it to him, getting to see that adorable smile of his that she loved or B. she would eat it around and "mistakenly" spill some on him, making sure to clean the mess, no matter where the remains landed. Either plan sounded great to the Titania. 'I guess I'll thank you for the cake, Mirajane.' She closed her eyes and furrowed her brow as she looked forward, a determined smile grew from her lips. 'Now, to put my plan into action!'
"Natsu, how many times do I have to tell you? I'm trying to read here! Some of us enjoy that instead of messing around!" Erza stopped walking once she heard the voice of a familiar blonde. Her smile dropped as she watched Natsu pick up some of her books, fiddling with them as Lucy looked at him with a stern gaze. "C'mon, give me my books back!"
Natsu raised an eyebrow as he looked inside one of the books. "I don't see the points of these, Luce. They're nothing but letters and paper, what's the point of it?" He closed the book and tossed it back to Lucy. Natsu then knelt, resting his head on his arms as he looked up at the blonde.
Lucy brought her head from her book to notice Erza standing there with a soft surprised look on her face. "Oh, hey there, Erza. What are you doing here?"
Erza lightly flinched before taking a seat at the same table, resting her head in her hand as she looked at Lucy. "Oh nothing, I was just gazing around and looking at the guild." She turned her gaze at the dragon slayer, making him straighten up. "Say, Natsu. I wanted to talk to you."
He tilted his head to the side as he furrowed his eyebrows. "You wanted to talk to me? About what?" Erza smiled softly and just as she was about to speak, she was quickly interrupted by Lucy slamming her hands on the table.
"Oh crap! Damnit!" She ran her fingers through her hands as she groaned. "I forgot that my rent due is coming up!" She quickly ran towards the mission board, looking for a job.
Natsu and Erza just blinked and watched her run before Natsu took a seat and looked back at the redhead. "So, what did you want to talk about, Erza?"
"Yes, well, what I wanted to talk about is..."
"Found one!" Erza sucked her teeth and frowned as Lucy quickly ran back to the table, holding a job request. "Well, c'mon Natsu since you're so bored, I found us a job." Natsu perked up and stood up, leaving a confused Erza behind.
Erza stood up and looked at the two of them leaving. "Wait a minute! Why does Natsu need to go with you? We still need to talk, Natsu!"
Natsu flinched as he heard Erza yell. "U-Um yeah, well we can talk when we get back. It shouldn't be too long, right Lucy?" He looked at you with a quivering smile.
Lucy cringed and sighed before turning to look back at Erza. "Yeah, we won't be gone long. We'll be back by this evening, I promise." As Lucy and Natsu turned to walk away, Ley giggled, catching Erza's attention.
"Oh wow, Natsu immediately goes where Lucy tells him to. It's like they're dating." Levy laughed, however, Erza's eyes just widened. The last words that left the bluenette echoed and lingered in her mind. "It's like they're dating... Like they're dating... Dating..." Erza turned back to watch the duo keep walking, her hands clenching as she gritted her teeth. Unknowing to her as she gritted her teeth, her eyes began to change colors to bright green and her hair began swaying in the wind.
Natsu stopped walking just as he was shy of the guild doors, he felt the pressure of the air change from calm to surprisingly heavy, quickly looking around to find the source. 'Why does it suddenly feel so different in here all of a sudden? It feels... Someone is using Magic.'
Lucy raised an eyebrow as stopped once she noticed this. "Natsu, what's w-?" Before she could finish, a sudden torrent of flames engulfed her and sent her flying through the guild doors, burning them to cinders and leaving Lucy with first-degree burns and tattered clothes.
Natsu looked shocked and ran towards his friend. "LUCY! Dear God, what happened to you?!" He quickly got up with a hardened glare walking back into the guild. "Who the hell did-?" Natsu's glare disappeared at what he saw which not scared him but the entire guild.
Erza was standing there, her chest plate left in burnt and melted pieces, strands of her hair swaying in the air. Her now emerald eyes glowed brightly and her exposed arms were covered in crimson scales that lead to clawed hands. Erza was growling and looking directly at Natsu, her gaze like a lioness ready to pounce on her prey. Natsu flinched at her new appearance, and as she stared at him so intently, he slowly stepped backward and clenched his own fists.
"E-Erza..." He stuttered but hardened his gaze. "I'm your friend, remember?" The more he gazed upon her, the more he felt predatory himself and he readied to defend himself.
With her new fangs bared, Erza growled as she lunged towards the fire dragon slayer. "RRRAGHH!" She roared as she swung her left arm towards Natsu, a sphere of blue energy surrounded her claw and shot towards Natsu. As Natsu dodged and jumped backward, Erza swung her claw close to his face, sending slashes of air slashes, cutting up the beams and walls of the guild. Luckily, Natsu evaded it without bodily harm, however, before he could land on his feet, Erza tackled him and drove him into some neighboring tables. She glared at him and held up one of her claw fists, it was surrounded in reddish-black energy as she began throwing it down at Natsu.
Before it could impact him, Natsu caught her hand and pushed onto her back, creating some distance between the two. "ERZA!" Natsu shouted. "Just what the hell is wrong with you?! Why did you attack Lucy?!"
"Natsu is mine..." Erza growled as she stood up, her hair covering her eyes. "She tried to take what is mine... No one takes what is mine. Not my malrak itov!" She exclaimed as she clenched her fists, her emerald eyes glowing brighter as she bared her fangs. "NATSU. IS. MINE! NO ELSE!" Erza shot out a beam of greenish energy from her hand, it flew towards Natsu to which he crossed his arms to block out the blast.
A huge explosion erupted from the side of the building and as the dust settled, Natsu stood with his arms shaking. His shirt and pants were riddled with cuts and scrapes but there was no physical damage seen on the dragon slayer. Everyone in the guild was in terror, none of them understood what Erza had said or why she was acting this way, they all stood there in fear as they watched the two.
"Salamander!" Gajeel stood forward, all of the guild members except Erza looked at the Iron Dragonslayer. "You have to fight her! Titania is going to stop unless you beat her!"
Natsu frowned as he raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about, Gajeel?!" He stood for a second before dodging an energy blast. "Why do I have to fight Erza? What happened to her?!" The Fire Dragonslayer bounced on his feet, trying to dodge each blast that the crazed redhead kept firing from the palms of her claws.
"Listen to me, Natsu! I will explain everything." Gajeel spoke in a stern tone. "I'll tell you why this is happening but first you have to defeat Erza else she'll go on a rampage and hurt everyone in the guild as well as the townsfolk. Do you really want her to do that?"
As Natsu got his balance, he looked at Gajeel, eyes widened before he furrowed his brow and gritted his teeth. "I'll beat her, but you gotta promise me you'll explain everything. Got that, Gajeel?"
Gajeel nodded. "I promise I will." He then turned to face the terrified guild members. "Everyone, we gotta give them some space! Let's get out of the guild!"
Normally, the guild members would argue with Gajeel and try to break up the fight between Natsu and Erza. However, seeing this dragon Erza, they all unanimously agreed that the only person who can handle that kind of situation would be a Dragonslayer. They all nodded their heads and quickly ran out from the guild. As Lisanna picked up the unconscious Celestial Mage, she looked back at Natsu with a worried look.
'Make it out alive, Natsu. Please.' She then ran and caught up with the other guild members, leaving Natsu and Erza to themselves.
"Well, Erza... It's just you and me now." Natsu smirked as he cracked his knuckles before lighting his hands ablaze. "I guess today's the day I finally beat you."
"RAGGHH!" Erza yelled as she ran towards the Fire Dragon Slayer, a barrage of green fireballs flew from her clawed hands as she kept swinging her arms forward.
Natsu ran around the dragon human, dodging the attacks nimbly before getting in close and landing a left jab onto Erza's stomach, making her stumble back into some tables. Before he could make a move, Erza sprinted towards Natsu, slamming her fist into his face then grabbing it as she spun him around before throwing him into the bar. Natsu spat out some saliva as he landed on his back, wincing as he got up but had no time to recover as Erza had hopped onto him once again.
Natsu grabbed Erza's claws before she could slash him, gritting his teeth as he held her back. Erza then slammed her head into Natsu's, making the dragon slayer let go as he winced while his nose bleed. Erza then dealt a flurry of blows and slashes onto the Fire Dragon Slayer, his clothes getting ripped apart and his skin getting cut. Despite the heavy assault, Natsu mustered his strength and slammed his fist into Erza's stomach and as she stumbled backward, he jumped up and slammed his knee into her face, causing Erza to knock over some tables.
Natsu panted as he rubbed the blood off his nose before squatting down and running towards Erza. "Flame Lotus:.." He clenched his fists, covering them with fire as he charged his right fist forward. "FIRE DRAGON'S FIST!" Slamming his fists into Erza's face and body, Natsu repeatedly kept punching the redhead as he yelled. Each blow managed to pierce through her tough hide as blood trickled out from her nose and mouth. Natsu sent Erza flying into a pillar with one final punch, causing the redhead to spit out blood as she crashed.
"Erza, please! This has got to stop! Enough is enough!" Natsu pleaded, but Erza shook her head as she glared.
"NO!" She exclaimed as bluish yellow fire engulfed her claws. "I won't stop until you're mine, Natsu Dragneel!"
Natsu frowned as he raised his fist. "Fine, Erza. You leave me no choice..." He gritted his teeth as massive flames swirled around his hand."FIRE DRAGON KING'S DESTRUCTION FIST!" Natsu stepped forward as he thrust his fist forward, sending the flames into Erza, engulfing the redhead and the guild as it got destroyed. As the flames dissipated, there was an open hole in the guild wall as well as some heavy burns on some nearby houses. In the remnant of the hole, Erza laid down unconscious but she did not have any burns. Surprisingly, her crimson scales were gone but her clothes were slightly singed, exposing some of her skin.
Natsu sighed in relief as he knelt, catching his breath as the cuts and bruises were prominent on his skin.
"Natsu!" Before the Fire Dragon Slayer could pass out from exhaustion, he quickly turned his head towards the guild doors and saw Wendy and Gajeel standing there looking extremely worried. "Are you alright?! You're very injured! Is the fight over now?"
Natsu chuckled tiredly as he sat down, leaning his back on the broken remnants of the bar. "Yeah... It's over now." He smiled tiredly at the Sky Dragon Slayer. "I finally managed to beat Erza, but I don't know what caused this." He attempted to get up but he was caught by Wendy Marvell.
"Try not to move too much, Natsu." She spoke worriedly as she began to heal Natsu's wounds. The Iron Dragon Slayer stepped closer to the two, chuckling a bit.
"You got out of this alive, nice job Natsu," Gajeel smirked as he crossed his arms. "But it's not over yet."
Natsu chuckled as he managed to get himself off the ground. "You owe me an explanation, Gajeel."
Gajeel nodded his head, walking towards Erza and picking her up. "I will, but first we gotta get you two someplace safe."
"HUH?!" Natsu stared wide-eyed at Gajeel as he jumped out from his couch, despite the fact that he was covered in bandages. He was completely stunned by what he had heard. "What do you mean Erza is awakening dragon powers?! She's not even a Dragon Slayer!"
Gajeel crossed his arms as he leaned against a wall. "It's exactly as I said. She is going through Dragonification, that's why she went crazy. It seemed like a Partial Dragonification though. Normally, it happens when a Dragon Slayer bathes in the blood of multiple dragons but I guess this is a special case. "
Natsu blinked his eyes for a few seconds before shaking his head. "How is this a 'special case'?! Erza isn't even a Dragon Slayer! How would she be able to do that?"
Gajeel stood up as he scratched the back of his head. "Well apparently, she technically is one."
"... What?" Natsu stared at the taller man, confused at his words. "She's never used any kind of Dragon Slayer Magic. What happened?"
"I guess she nor Wendy told you, you may not believe me, but what I'm going to say is true." Gajeel cleared his throat. "When we all fought Zeref and his massive army, one of the Spriggan 12 fought Erza and Wendy. A powerful female wizard. Erza managed to defeat her and leave a devastating blow on the woman, slashing her deeply." Gajeel demonstrated the area where it was cut before his face turned serious. "Her name was Irene Belserion... She was Erza's mom."
Natsu just stared at the taller man in total astonishment, he backed away from Gajeel as he frowned slightly. "... Erza killed her own mom?"
"She didn't kill her, don't worry," Gajeel reassured the pinkette. "Unfortunately, Irene killed herself after Erza slashed her and her body was destroyed by Acnologia so there's no trace of her body left. However, the two of them found out through fighting her that she was a Dragon Slayer, she transformed into a dragon as they fought. So since Erza cut her so deep and made Irene bleed-."
"You're saying since Erza has Irene's blood into her, she inherited innate Dragon Slayer abilities and they awoke as Erza defeated Irene and drew blood from her?" Gajeel nodded as Natsu rubbed the back of his head, Natsu sat down on his couch as the statement began to sink in. "What do we do now?"
"We can't do anything. The only one who can solve this problem is you, Natsu."
Natsu raised an eyebrow as he looked confused. "What do you mean I-?"
"Gajeel! Natsu!" Both Dragon Slayers whipped their heads towards the upstairs area as they heard Wendy's panic-filled voice. "Please get in here!" They both turned and quickly ran upstairs to the bedroom.
Erza panted heavily as she rubbed herself, she was so cold. Even though she still had her clothes on and a heavy blanket covering her entire body, Erza fidgeted on Natsu's bed in an attempt to warm herself. Wendy sighed in relief, but then the Take Over Mage hardened her gaze as she took her hand off of the Sky Maiden's shoulder. "But about Natsu, are we sure he's going to be alright with Erza? She tried to kill him once already today."
"Don't worry, we are sure that Natsu will be fine. Erza has awoken Dragon Slayer abilities." Both Lisanna and Gray stared at the young girl in shock. "We're guessing that Erza felt threatened so that's why she attacked Lucy."
"Wait, threatened?" Gray looked at Wendy confused. "Why would she feel threatened?"
"Well, it seems like Erza chose Natsu as her mate. And when a Dragon or a Dragon Slayer finds a mate, they fight to test their strength to see if they're a worthy lover."
"So, I'm guessing Natsu proved he is worthy since he beat her." Gray chuckled before crossing his arms. "So what happens now?"
