Mars, 2151

"Our time is up. I can't kill you... but I won't you have you standing in our way."

Doom Slayer could only watch as Dr. Samuel Hayden - the head researcher of the UAC on Mars, and the one responsible for Hell's entry to the dead planet - activate the Crucible. The relic transformed into a blade; emitting an eerie red light.

"Until we see each other again."

Those were the final words Dr. Hayden said to Doom Slayer before he walked away with the Crucible in hand. The Slayer was enraged to see the researcher leave with the remaining source of Argent left on Mars; further planning to produce more of it back on Earth. Doom Slayer struggled against his restraints as he attempted to grab the doctor and retake the Crucible.

Too late, the Tether System had been reactivated. And flung him through dimensions, where time and space began to twist and warp as he was cast-off to parts unknown.

To where? It was an uncertainty. And it only made the Slayer all the more frustrated.

Gotham City, 11:26 pm

Batman stalked the rooftops as he prowled over Gotham as its protector. His ever-looming presence in the city's criminal underworld struck fear in their hearts as he relentlessly pursued them with his brand of justice. Currently, he was pursuing one such.

Near Gotham City's docks, illegal activity had been brewing in disguise as mundane exports. Through wiretaps and hacked communications, the Dark Knight had discovered shipments of weapons being exported off to several criminal hotspots in Bialya. Bialya's rule was brutal in its reign and the Queen that ruled them brought ruin without impunity. And to allow these weapons at the hands of a brutal dictator would result in even more deaths. He wished he could do more for the population but it was out of his jurisdiction. Even covert ops. Destroying the supplies would minimize the destruction at least, much to his frustration.

Batman made his way to the docks, using his Bat-hook to swing and move freely into the night.

Five minutes later, he had arrived.

Already, he could see several shipments being transported. Smugglers were loading all sorts of high-grade armaments onto the container ship. Through his optics, he could identify several military-grade tech (DN: I'm so sorry, I'm not good at this modern jargon. I am not quite familiar with modern settings. Just go with this bullshit I wrote.) Incendiary, laser-based, explosives, combat-based chems, etc. All of it raising red flags to the Dark Knight. Batman swooped down from the roofs and landed onto the containers. Carefully, he stalked the area and began picking off the smugglers. The first was knocked out from above and dragged into the darkness. Another grabbed from behind and receiving a concussion in an obscuring alley between two containers. The sound caught the attention of a couple more crooks nearby. They investigated the area and searched for the noise's origin. One stepped further and searched for the cause while his partner stayed behind. A few seconds and the man gave up the search, only to turn back to find a dark silhouette standing before him. The man had little time to react before he was cold-cocked in less than a second. Batman grabbed the bodies and dropped them off inside an empty container; restraining them after.

Stalking again, he avoided surveillance while routinely taking down anyone nearby his vicinity. Eventually, he managed to navigate his way to the weapons. The weapons were there, alright.

"Enough to arm a small a force and take down several towns." He thought as he investigated the caches. He needed to get rid of them fast. He had brought his own explosives and was prepared to get rid of them.

*CRACK*

Batman tensed up as he heard something nearby. He moved to investigate. The noise came from a seemingly empty container.

"Is someone in there?" He mentally thought, putting extra precautions to avoid alerting his own presence. Deep inside, someone was flashing light but not directly at Batman. What did reflect, however, was a cluster of claymore beeping instantaneously. In five seconds.

Instinctively, he grabbed whoever was holding the flashlight and got out immediately. An explosion followed but Batman managed to escape and rescue the person...who just so happen to be his protege.

"What are you doing here, Robin?!" Batman scolded; causing Robin to cringe. "You disobeyed my orders!"

"I was just following a lead!" Robin responded. "Picked up some strange activity here as well! Looks like we were in the right direction!"

Batman simply stared down at the boy, who shivered under his signature glare in kind.

But with the explosion going off, several of the smugglers ran to it, armed with guns. Batman pulled out smoke grenades and threw them to the ground. The smugglers blasted them only to hit nothing. Batman struck the first two with a swift kick from above. He threw batarangs and disabled three criminals of their guns. Guns went blazing from a different direction and Batman evaded them. Robin jumped and easily knocked out two thugs as they focused on the Dark Crusader. The Boy Wonder and the Dark Knight worked in tandem and disarmed the bad guys. Robin especially enjoyed messing around with the baddies. They get so easily spooked and learn the hard way that Gotham isn't their playground. Batman on the other hand focused on taking down the shipment before any could set sail. Any more distractions and the Biyalians would suffer more casualties.

"Robin! We need to destroy the cargo! I'll handle them! You go disable the ship!" Batman ordered.

"On it, Batman!" Robin disappeared soon after, his laugh echoing the air. Batman faced off against the smugglers. Surrounded with guns at the ready, Batman simply glared and lunged.

Meanwhile, on the ship, Robin sprinted as fast as he could. A smuggler spotted Batman's protege as he opened a door but was kicked in the chest before he could even react. Robin entered and made his way inside. Already, several of them aimed and sprayed bullets as they collided with Robin. The Boy Wonder simply jumped around with acrobatics and boots to the faces. The adrenaline rush kicked into high gear as he messed around with these amateurs. None of these guys had the chance with their sluggish movement and reaction. Kicking his way up to the ship's controls, Robin immediately punched the helmsman in the throat before sweeping him under the leg. Hostiles now disarmed and disabled, went for the controls. He took out his birdarangs and easily dismantled the controls with just one throw.

*THUD*

Robin dropped to the floor as something hard hit him at the back of his head. He fell to the floor, vision now blurry and body weak. Appearing before his blurry eyes, someone stood over him. Looking above, Robin could see the faint outline of a black and orange mask.

"Well, then. Looks like my employers won't be so happy about this delay. But don't worry, I'm sure Batman will pay up...with his life insurance..." The man said before Robin before his vision faded.

Back on the docks, Batman knocked out every single smuggler foolish enough to fight him head-on. All of them out cold on the ground with bruises and some broken ribs. Batman pressed on his comms and called in Robin.

"Robin, can you read me? Is the ship disabled?" He called. Static came.

"Robin? Do you hear me? Has the ship been disabled? Over." He repeated. No answer.

"Sorry, Bats! But I'm afraid Boy Wonder isn't exactly on deck!" Someone announced on top of one of the crates. Batman looked up and recognized the distinguishable black and orange mask of Deathstroke. Batman tensed up as he saw Robin in a chokehold under the Terminator's arm.

"Let him go, Deathstroke!" Batman demanded.

Deathstroke simply remarked, "Tsk. Tsk. Poor choice of words."

The Terminator pushed the boy over the ledge, crashing onto a couple of containers.

"Robin!" Batman called out. However, Deathstroke landed a few feet from him before Batman could help the boy.

"Don't worry. The kid's been through worse. But your business is with me." Deathstroke launched himself into a sprint towards the Dark Knight. Batman threw batarangs only for The Terminator to pull out a Glock and shoot them down with uncanny accuracy. Deathstroke pulled out his sword and prepared to land cut into his rival. Batman blocked with his serrated gauntlets, repelling Deathstroke's strikes swiftly. Deathstroke was relentless, pushing back the Dark Knight with every attack he had. Using sword and gun in accord, Deathstroke switched between the two to get a hit on Batman. The Dark Knight dodged and deflected bullets and steel, respectively. The rivalry between the two was unmatched, save for the Clown Prince of Crime.

For Deathstroke - or Slade Wilson -, the thrill of a true fight was to prove who was the best combatant between them. Only in death could there be a sign of victory. The only disappointing fact was that his combatant kept going the half-measure. Every encounter, he pushed Batman to the brink of a killing blow, only to end at a stalemate. Batman always survived the fights, believing himself the victor of each match. Yet, with every victory, Deathstroke eluded him. And like every escape, there would come a time when they had to face each other yet again.

And this day was no different.

"I'm quite disappointed in you, Batman." He stated, swinging at his opponent's head before gripping in reverse. "I throw the kid off, and you still don't have the guts to kill me. Where's all that bottled-up anger? Your rage? Come on, Bats! I haven't got all night!"

Batman simply kept silent, not giving Slade the satisfaction of an answer. The Dark Knight locked the blade his gauntlet's blade to throw a punch with his other hand. He landed a perfect uppercut. Slade dropped both of his weapons as he was sent flying, only to roll back safely. Slade smirked under his mask in a superhero landing position.

"Even with your strongest fist, you're still holding back." Deathstroke stated in humor, before standing up and taking a combat stance. Batman, likewise, did the same. The Dark Knight glanced behind the mercenary. He could see Robin faintly breathing as his chest moved. Batman looked back at the mercenary, this time prepared. As the two were ready to duke it out again.

But as the fight was going, both combatants saw something peculiar in the corner of their eyes.

Like a lightning strike, a flash of light came followed by a blue glow. Both covered their eyes and look up to see...a man appearing before them. He was in a crouching when he landed. And when he stood, he stood massive. But that's not all, the man was geared in some sort of futuristic armor. It was advance beyond Earth's level. The man, in turn, looked at the two as if...confused? He seemed to look as if surprised by their appearance more than anything. He looked between the two, now feeling suspicious of who's who. The fight would now become a three-way standoff.

Batman was about to question; uncertain of whether the stranger was friend or foe.

Hell for the Company - DOOM (2016) OST

However, the fight soon started as one of the smugglers grabbed a rifle began firing wildly, mainly hitting the giant armoured man. Batman tried to stop the shooter but was too late as the stranger got to him first. Deathstroke was surprised as he didn't notice the man move from his spot. The shooter found himself robbed of his weapon as the Doom Slayer crushed it in his hand, with the man's hand still on it. The smuggler screamed as he felt his hand bent in unnatural angles before a solid punch to the jaw silenced him, breaking it after. Doom Slayer looked back at the other two, with Batman now jumping in full view. Doom Slayer dodged in time and grabbed his cape; swinging him around before throwing the Caped Crusader into a crate. Batman crashed to the wall hard; bones almost breaking inside him.

Bullets bounced off his armor harmlessly behind him and turned around to see Deathstroke with a handgun aimed at him.

"Bulletproof. Wonderful. But let's see how you handle compare to Batman." Deathstroke said out loud, declaring a challenge. Doom Slayer responded by pulling out the Heavy Assault Rifle and prepared to rain hell on the mercenary. Deathstroke looked shocked as he saw the gun appear out of nowhere and immediately ran for cover. Micro Missiles rain down on Deathstroke as he evaded the explosives and ducked underneath a concrete traffic barrier. Doom Slayer withheld his assault and switched to regular rounds. Deathstroke managed to grab an uzi and checked for any rounds in the mag. There was still enough and shot back as he escaped. Bullets bounced off Doom Slayer gave chase again; rifle still in hand.

Robin rose from his feet; startled by the number of gunshots ringing his ear. Now aware and sensing the immediate danger, Robin cautiously looked and see Batman on the ground. Immediately, he rushed forward and went to the Dark Knight's side.

"Batman! Are you alright?!" He cried. The Caped Crusader groaned as he stood up, resting his head against the wall.

"I'm alright, Robin...how's your head?"

"Felt like I was sleeping on the wrong side of the bed." Robin humored. "But I'm alright."

Loud explosions and gunshots followed, enough to wake up the city.

"What the heck's going on out there?!" Robin spooked.

"No time! Robin, I need you to get out of here! I'm calling in the Gotham PD! I need you and everyone out of here as possible. This is now a threat you can't handle on your own! Do you understand?" Batman questioned the boy. Robin looked conflicted but ultimately complied.

"On it!" Robin immediately left and helped the smugglers get out. Batman, still semi-injured, stood up with all his willpower. He felt his shoulder dislocated but popped it back in with one push. He bit his lip hard to not scream; tasting the iron in his mouth after. Finally, back in the action, the Dark Knight chased after the two assailants.

Nearby...

Deathstroke took cover and shot back with an AK-74U he found at the Slayer. Doom Slayer, by this time, had his Combat Shotgun at the ready. Firing several Sticky Bombs back at the elusive mercenary, explosions broke throughout the docks like roaring thunder. Switching between taking cover and shooting back, Deathstroke felt his blood burning with adrenaline as he faced his new adversary. The man wasn't playing around, firing shots that would be pretty lethal even from a distance; almost to rival Deadshot's skills.

In his thoughts, Slade enjoyed the thrill he was now feeling. It had been a while since he met a more worthy opponent other than Batman. This one was determined to kill and that pleased him enough. A slug nearly landed on his face as he dodged the projectiles. Deathstroke sprinted with the AK fired directly at his opponent, with Doom Slayer shrugging off shots while firing his shotgun from his hip. Both ran at the same speed, determined to outlast the other in their fatal duel.

A slug from the shotgun managed to hit the mercenary directly at his chest. Deathstroke was blown back but the Promethium managed to protect him from what could have been the most fatal shot. Deathstroke quickly got back up and moved. Doom Slayer pursued his target with ruthless intent. The Marine followed closely to the Mercenary's last location, finding no issue in tracking him. Deathstroke sprinted before taking a turn around the corner of stack containers. Doom Slayer followed behind, only to find him gone as he reached around said corner. Immediately pulling up the map on his HUD, he scanned the surrounding location.

"You are a very relentless hunter, stranger! I'll give you that!" Deathstroke echoed. Doom Slayer immediately pulled his weapon back and aimed at the sky, ready for a pounce.

Deathstroke continued, "I've gotta say, I was just about ready to give Batman another beatdown. Kill him, even. Until you showed up out of the blue. No pun intended. And for what it's worth, I'm glad you made this fight...interesting."

It was at this moment that Deathstroke made his reappearance by shooting above him. This only annoyed the Slayer and had him climbing on top of the crates with mobility. Deathstroke ran again, clearly intrigued by his pursuer's hidden cards.

"Come on! Show me what you got!" Deathstroke goaded, jumping over the crates with agility. Doom Slayer pulled out the Super Shotgun and started throwing buckshot as they chased on the roofs. Deathstroke glanced back at and witness Doom Slayer jumping across with his boost thrusters activated. Now, his hunter was getting too close for comfort. Deathstroke dived out of the way in time - buckshot flying behind him - and landing on a lower crate. Doom Slayer stopped in his tracks and mounted the Rocket Launcher over his shoulder. Equipping Lock-On Burst, the Marine aimed his sights on the elusive Deathstroke.

Batman swooped down and kicked the Marine from behind; dropping the launcher as a result. The rocket launcher landed. This resulted in a misfire with three missiles firing directly at the ship's cargo. The impact caused a chain reaction as many of the cargo's concealed weapons shot wildly and caused massive explosions.

Batman could only watch in horror at what he had done. Deathstroke, meanwhile, was shocked and absolutely pissed that he won't be getting his payment anytime soon. Doom Slayer got back up and wasted no time throwing a punch towards the Dark Crusader. Batman was back on the loop and blocked just in time as a fist met his gauntlets. The force behind Doom Slayer's fist was enough to knock Batman off his feet. Batman rolled back and stood up. Doom Slayer grabbed the SSG and prepared to pull the trigger at blank shot range. Batman closed in and unloaded it by gripping the barrels and yanking it away from him; discarding it to the ground below. He followed it with a punch to the helmet; staggering him.

While unphased by the human punch, Doom Slayer was absolutely riled of being robbed of his prized weapon.

"Who are-?!" Batman didn't get to question before he was tackled with such overwhelming force. Both crashed into the wall of a lower crate, bouncing off and landing hard on concrete. Batman's entire body was screaming in pain but toughened out as he faced the unknown man. Doom Slayer was hardly hurt and didn't give the Caped Crusader a break. Batman dodged in time as the Doom Slayer punched through a cargo; crumpling the metal like a piece of tin foil. Doom Slayer pulled out his fist and resumed the attack, launching everything at Batman will all his fury.

Batman observed his opponent and time his movements. The outsider was aggressive, launching heavy punches at inhuman speeds. Yet, not only that, but he also displayed great skill in his fighting techniques. Combined with being covered head to toe with advanced tech, Batman realized he was not fighting an ordinary man.

"A metahuman, perhaps?" He thought. Seeing that this battle needed to be ended, Batman threw a smoke bomb directly into the marine's helmet.

Doom Slayer was briefly blindsided and surrounded by smoke. Batman moved in the shadows; using his eye sensors within his mask and positioned himself behind the marine's back. Batman went in for the strike and pounced. Doom Slayer surprised him by intercepting his fist. The marine grabbed Batman by the throat and leaned in close to his face. Batman struggled against the strong grip and was at the Slayer's mercy. Batman tried to tase him but the electricity proved useless. He tried to punch the joints with what fading strength he had left, before punching away in futile desperation. He could feel an overwhelming sensation of fear around the Slayer. Batman had met intimidating figures but this one was different. This sense of dread paralyzed his entire body as if he was staring at the face of death. He could barely see anything through that visor but he could tell that dark pitiless eyes were staring from the void.

In a time before, Batman was a symbol of fear in the criminal underworld. This man, on the other hand, may as well have been the embodiment of primordial terror.

While Batman was struggling, Doom Slayer observed the masked vigilante. This was just some loony idiot in some bat-themed costume. And he was a little too pissed this that loon stopped him and threw away his favourite gun. Yet, the better part of told him he was human, and his scanners read no signs of Argent corruption. Reluctantly, he threw him aside; seeing him as a mild inconvenience at best. But not before kicking him in the stomach, throwing against the side of cargo. Doom Slayer brought up his map and attempted to locate his weapons. His shotgun was still nearby but the rocket launcher was missing.

Frustrated, he went and gathered his closest and beloved weapon. Batman coughed up but was surprised to be miraculously alive. That intense struggle rattled him quite a bit. However, he was made of stronger stuff and he overcame many events like this. However, seeing how dire the situation was, he had no other choice but to gather backup.

He pressed on his intercom and called, "Calling all Justice League. I repeat. Calling all Justice League to Gotham City. We have a situation..."

Doom Slayer located and grabbed the shotgun. Inspecting the weapon to see any damage to it, Doom Slayer nodded to himself and saw no issue as he clicked it back up with slugs still intact. Now, it was time to find the RL. A notification popped up on the corner of his visor.

- Locate your Rocket Launcher.

The objective was followed by a mark on his map, showing the current location of his weapon. With nothing stopping him, Doom Slayer sprinted to the current location.

It did not take long until he was in the area where the rocket launcher was. It was an open space where only construction machines greeted him. He carefully stalked around; prepared for ambush inbound at any second.

"HEY!" Doom Slayer looked to where the yelling came and saw Deathstroke on top of one of the cargos. And on his shoulder was Doom Slayer's beloved rocket launcher.

"Because of those fireworks on the ship you pulled, I now have nothing to show for when my clients find out about their cargo! But I will certainly enjoy splattering your body in bloody pieces!"

Deathstroke aimed the sight on Doom Slayer and pulled the trigger. A rocket was sent flying; straight towards the still-standing Slayer.

*KABOOM*

The Slayer was soon engulfed in flame and smoke. Slade smirked, rather amused that the stranger he considered "challenging" bit the dust before his eye. However, his victory was short-lived as he soon witnessed the Slayer walk out of the smoke and completely unscathed from the rocket's impact.

"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me!" Deathstroke exclaimed, clearly shocked by the Slayer's seeming invulnerability.

And in the marine's hands was the Chaingun splitting its barrels in three as Mobile Turret was activated; aiming directly at Deathstroke.

"Son of a-!" Deathstroke immediately dropped the launcher and sprinted across the cargos as the Chaingun sprayed tungsten. The slugs ruptured the cargo's metal as it chased the mercenary from rooftop to rooftop. Slade ran for his life until he crashed landed on the concrete below. Doom Slayer released his thumb off the trigger - the barrels now visibly burning under the darkness. Doom Slayer set it aside placed it back into his interdimensional pocket. The marine quickly went for his rocket launcher; climbing over the cargo's roof before finally snagging his last weapon once more. Again, no damage on it whatsoever.

Finally satisfied with all of his weapons returned, Doom Slayer pursued the Mercenary again. Locating Deathstroke's last landing, Doom Slayer's helmet scanned for his footprints and followed a trail leading to another maze of cargos before him. Groaning, he ran to catch up to him.

Robin strung up the smugglers as Gotham PD arrived. Commissioner Gordon arrived with his men, followed by a SWAT team and firefighters racing to the scene as the cargoship's fire grew intense like a raging bonfire. News anchors flooded right after with yellow tape stopping them from going any further. Robin had no interest in dealing with them, more concerned with Batman still on the docks. Wild gunfire and explosions were heard at ground zero, louder with each shot.

"Everyone! Get back! This is not a safe zone!" One police officer warned the public. An explosion happened again, being a little too close for comfort. Robin was growing more worried by the minute. His thoughts were snapped out as Commissioner Gordon approached him.

"Robin! Where's Batman? Gotham's turning into chaos and I received a call from him. He better has a good explanation for this!" Gordon questioned.

"Don't know where he is! Last I saw he went straight into the gunfight!" Robin answered.

"Dammit!" Gordon called in on his radio. "SWAT team! You're clear for action! Proceed with caution! Do not engage with Batman! Locate the source of the gunfire and take them down!"

"Copy that, Commissioner!" The other end radioed.

"Well kid, looks like your hero won't be-" Gordon looked back to speak to Robin, only to find thin air and audible laughter emitting elsewhere. Gordon grumbled in frustration.

"Shit..."

Deathstroke hid behind one of the lower cargos. His heart raced with excessive adrenaline from the sheer volume of violence from this new adversary. He had proven to be quite a unique individual. Whatever assumptions Slade had was thrown out the proverbial window, seeing first-hand Doom Slayer's invulnerability.

And he was very much glad. A relentless and determined predator was stalking him with ruthless proficiency and unknown amounts of guns on hand. The stranger was no Batman, making him a threat beyond his regular targets of interest. In a way, that was good. Plus, the stranger managed to kick the Dark Knight to a curb. Making him a tough one to kill, that meant a good fight.

Deathstroke loved a good fight at every chance he got. He almost forgot about Batman by this point, seeing no reason to another fight with him anymore. Now it was just him and the armored man.

Silently, he strained his ear on the side; detecting the man's footsteps from a distance. Pulling out his sword, he prepared to strike from the corner.

Doom Slayer closed in with the SSG in hand. The tracks lead to a T-section of the hold. As he reached around the Deathstroke struck first but Doom Slayer blocked it with his forearm. The marine aimed and shot two slugs into the mercenary. Deathstroke's armor was of equal protection, with only small scratches on the surface. Doom Slayer reloaded and readied for another fire before Deathstroke kicked it away, causing a misfire. Doom Slayer still gripped onto his weapon - having learned his brief with Batman - and pulled up his unarmed hand to block another hit. He set off another shot to the chest - nulled again by promethium armor - before kicking the mercenary away. Deathstroke rolled away sailed, now at gunpoint, before standing again. Both marine and mercenary walked in circles opposite of each other.

"I have to say, you've proven yourself a worthy fighter. Going full measure, chased me across the docks , and taking a rocket to the face like a champ." Deathstroke spoke in admiration. "But that leaves one thing: a duel. Melee, this time. How about it?"

Doom Slayer kept his gun on the mercenary as Slade raised his sword against him. Tense moments passed before Doom Slayer finally accepted the challenge. The marine lowered his weapon and put it aside in his pocket.

"Got a weapon on you for this duel?" Deathstroke asked with surprising patience. Doom Slayer answered by pulling out the Painsaw. He revved it up, the chainsaw now roaring with its teeth going at terrifying speeds. The mercenary was a little unnerved by the marine's weapon of choice.

"Of course, he just had to pull out a fucking chainsaw of all things!" Slade cursed himself. Doom Slayer gave little paused and dashed towards Slade. Deathstroke managed to pull his sword up and deflected the saw. Doom Slayer swung it with full force, yet, directing them with planned coordination. Deathstroke parried each strike with masterful technique, but not underestimating the power behind the hand that wields it. He was tempted to strike back but Doom Slayer proved to be a rather impervious character. Besides his armor, he was a rather excellent duelist despite the bulky weapon in use. Combined with his strength and speed, the marine outmaneuvered Slade at every turn. Deathstroke was on the defence for a little while until his back hit something solid. Behind him, he pressed against cargo and grabbed each end of his sword as Doom Slayer swung overhead. Deathstroke's sword was the only thing keeping him from the edge of death as the chainsaw's serrated teeth ground onto the blade's edge. Slade used all of his strength to survive this fight. The marine pressed the chainsaw down further; Deathstroke's head getting closer to becoming split-headed. A moment of intellect came to Slade and - in a hasty attempt - allowed himself to submit before swerving his head to the side. The chainsaw buried itself through the cargo's steel wall. Deathstroke moved to the aside, narrowly avoiding a knee to the head, and swung his sword. Doom Slayer's armor protected him but raised his arms to block the sword swings. Sparks flew and metal rang the air.

Doom Slayer stopped further hits by grabbing the sword by the blade and delivering a solid punch to the mercenary. He then cast the sword aside, leaving Deathstroke with his bo staff left. Doom Slayer simply cracked his knuckles and went into boxer stance. Deathstroke extended his staff and was on the attack again. Doom Slayer blocked with his fists, delivering punches as much often as he can as Deathstroke hit him repeatedly in certain joints and presumed weak spots. The marine had enough and grabbed the staff just as Deathstroke slammed it towards his face. Doom Slayer headbutted him, disorienting the mercenary, and kicking him in the chest. Doom Slayer snapped the staff in half and threw them aside. Deathstroke jumped back up again, raising his fists as well.

"Alright, fisticuffs it is..." Slade remarked. Deathstroke landed the first punch, striking the head. The helmet protected the Marine but there was definitely force into that punch. Doom Slayer was being hit with a barrage of fists thrown at him. Deathstroke could feel his knuckles hurting like hell, but he wasn't going to stop. Doom Slayer grabbed him by the head and slammed it against the metal wall. Deathstroke jumped out of the way as a fist slammed into the wall where his head would've been smashed in. Doom Slayer pulled out and threw a hook at the mercenary. Deathstroke backed away and launched himself a superman punch, followed by an uppercut. He threw a roundhouse kick but was caught in mid-air. Doom Slayer swung him around before throwing him back at the wall. Deathstroke could feel a few broken ribs and bleed internally. However, his one eye glanced at his sword close to him. Doom Slayer rushed in, preparing to finish off the mercenary. Deathstroke quickly grabbed his sword and aimed it towards the marine's throat.

In a literal leap of faith, Deathstroke lunged himself again and plunged his sword deep into the impossibly small gap of Doom Slayer's exposed neck. He ducked in time as the marine's fist passed over his head.

The sword reached past the jugular and exited outside the flesh. Blood trickled and stained the blade as it exposed itself to the air. Doom Slayer stopped mid-attack, tasting the blood from his mouth. Deathstroke kept his grip on the sword and stood up as he kept his eye on his opponent's movement. A sense of accomplishment of pride and swelled up in the mercenary's grizzled face; having earned another successful kill.

"You were a worthy fighter... but this had to end with one of us alive." Said Deathstroke in an amicable tone. He loosened his hand, allowing the body to fall.

However, that wasn't the case. As soon as he did, Doom Slayer grabbed the man's forearm. Deathstroke's pride shattered as he noticed the hand on him. Doom Slayer leaned forward stared into the mercenary's shocked face. He clenched his right hand into a fist and launched it.

"What the f-?!" *BAM*

Deathstroke was sent flying by a haymaker thrown at him. He landed hard onto the concrete ground. Doom Slayer landed on one knee with his opponent down and began pulling out the sword from his wound. Deathstroke pulled himself back up sluggishly and took off his helmet. The helm was severely damaged with a fist-sized dent at the mouth. Without it, he would've had a broken jaw for quite some time. Slade spat out some blood and a couple of teeth. His healing factor would replace them eventually. As for the Slayer, pulled out slowly before the blade was finally out. He threw the sword in front of the mercenary and took off his helmet. He vomited up excessed blood from the mouth. His wound began to regenerate on its own; using whatever Argent that remained. As he allowed himself a breather, Doom Slayer laid eyes on Deathstroke. Slade could see the clear outlines of the marine's face.

He was human, he observed. The man looked to be in his mid-thirties, a few minuscule scars riddled on his face. Yet, none were as striking as the eyes. He had seen plenty of it before. The kind of thousand-yard stare only one would see in times of disaster and war. But this one was a different type of stare.

This one looked like he went through Hell and back.

The two men slowly stood up, visibly in pain but with enough willpower to fight again. Raising their fists together, the fighter charged at each other with brutal intent.

Suddenly, something struck the ground and an explosion of smoke interrupted them. Batman pounced and struck the marine from behind. Doom Slayer was out of breath by this but pulled out the Assault Rifle. He shot wildly at the Caped Crusader but Batman intercepted and deflected his arm. The two struggled as the Marine shot wildly with his assault rifle going off in his hand. Batman headbutted him now that his head was exposed; causing him to drop his gun. Doom Slayer retaliated by spitting his face with blood. Batman's vision was blinded, leaving him exposed to the marine's brutal assault. Doom Slayer punched him with two powerful blows, putting him on one knee before throwing a knee to the face. He then grabbed the Crusader by the throat and throwing him against a wall. Batman braced himself as the marine kept slamming his head against the metal exterior. Deathstroke returned and shot the Heavy Assault Rifle behind the marine's back; halting his brutal beatdown on the Dark Knight. Doom Slayer ducked and covered his head as the bullets bounced at his back. Batman pulled out the Batarang and threw it at Deathstroke's hand; disarming him. Doom Slayer turned and tackled the mercenary but was immediately stopped by Batman throwing a punch to the face. Deathstroke kicked Batman by the leg, forcing him to fall on his knee, followed by the marine punching him back harder. Deathstroke rolled away safely from the marine's fists.

Doom Slayer and Batman jumped backed up after and the three were now at a standstill. Eyes moved between them, tension and paranoia rising as all three planned out the next move against the other.

Suddenly, something jumped behind Doom Slayer; landing on his shoulders and riding him. Deathstroke was the first to make his move, going after Batman instead. The marine used his strength to grab the fourth assailant and threw them back at the cargo. A loud thud came and Doom Slayer pulled out his shotgun and was ready to pull the trigger until he stared in shock at who it was. It was just a kid in a bright costume. Robin used the distraction to his advantage and threw his birdarangs. Many of them simply bounced off the marine's armor, with one grabbed in midair by the marine. Robin didn't stop, rolling in front of him before launching a dropkick to the face. Doom Slayer staggered but was still standing. The Boy Wonder jumped around and toyed with him, throwing as many hits as he could.

"Catch me if you can!" Robin goaded. "I float like a butterfly, and sting like a beeaAGH!"

Doom Slayer ended the boy's play fighting with a grab at his fist and pulling him to the ground; pressing his head and restraining one of his arms. The marine made an effort to not harm the boy any further, seeing no enjoyment in harming a minor.

Batman took notice and taken umbrage while fighting Deathstroke.

"ROBIN!" Batman yelled, taking out the bathook and shooting it under Slade's feet; pulling him down quickly after. Batman ran towards Doom Slayer, both furious at the marine and fearful for his protege's life.

Doom Slayer looked up in time and braced for a tackle. Batman was nowhere near the marine's strength level, simply going for what would like a shove from a bystander's perspective. The marine simply threw him to the ground, placed his feet on top of his chest, and placed a shotgun over his head.

Robin was ready to save his mentor until Deathstroke took the jump on him and threw him back at the cargo. In his arms, he had the marine's assault rifle and activated the Micro Missiles.

He aimed for the crane above and announced his intent, "Say goodbye to your protege, Bats!"

Deathstroke fired the missiles onto the cargo connected to the crane. A missile made contact chain; breaking and dropping the heavy cargo.

"NO!" Batman yelled in horror. Doom Slayer's eyes widened as he saw the crate falling over the boy.

Robin's life flashed before his eyes as the falling crate closed in on him. Doom Slayer sprinted over with inhuman speed to the Boy Wonder. Robin closed his eyes and braced himself. A tense moment passed and Robin slowly opened his eyes to see Doom Slayer standing over him, using his strength to carry the crate above them. The marine pushed himself against the metal crate before throwing it off to the side. Robin was astonished to see this feat of heroism by the stranger before him.

Doom Slayer raised a hand towards him, surprising Robin even further. The Boy Wonder hesitated before taking his hand and standing up with his help. Batman swooped down and was immediately on the defence until he saw Robin standing next to the marine, relatively unharmed.

SWAT team swarmed in after and surrounded the trio.

"This is the police! Don't move!" One announced. Doom Slayer seemed unphased but Batman stood in front of them immediately.

"Stand down! This is officially JL business! I repeat! Stand down!" Batman announced. SWAT members lowered their guns but were on standby and surrounded the scene. Doom Slayer, meanwhile, collected his belongings. SWAT team was instantly on alert when he pulled out the chainsaw from the wall but placed it back into his pocket, leaving much confusion to everyone around him.

"W-Where do you even store it?" Robin asked in a curious tone. Doom Slayer simply smirked, amused by the boy's reaction.

He grabbed his HA rifle, which surprisingly was left behind by the mercenary, who disappeared after he shot the crane.

Finally, he located his helmet. He inspected it closely, sliding a thumb across the Slayer's Mark before placing it back on. Immediately after, SWAT team looked above and instantly recognized the blue and red suit with the "S" symbol belonging to Superman descending downward, followed by Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Captain Marvel, and John Stewart. Walking past SWAT team, Green Arrow, Black Canary and the Flash appeared. And rising from the sea, Aquaman jumped from the waters and landed in stride.

All around him, Doom Slayer was surrounded by members of the Justice League. Batman took it upon himself to address his team.

"Superman."

"Batman." Superman greeted, glancing back at the carnage behind him. "I see your problem has been resolved."

"More or less." Batman replied, nursing a broken rib or two. Superman gave a worried glance but the Crusader raised a hand. "I'm fine."

"Yo Bats!" Flash yelled out, pointing at the marine. "Think you could introduce us to your new friend here?"

"Oh cool! It's Master Chief!" Captain Marvel said enthusiastically like a little kid. Quite literal in fact. The red-costumed superhero ran up to Doom Slayer with excitement. "Can I get an autograph?!"

Doom Slayer blinked in surprise and backed away a bit due to how close he was. Green Arrow walked up and laid a hand on Captain Marvel's shoulder.

"Relax, Cap. No need to startle the guy." Green Arrow urged. "I'm sure we'll find out soon enough."

Doom Slayer relaxed as he realized they were non-hostiles. The Justice League soon escorted him off the docks. Moments of small talk between the JL members came until news reporters flooded while police stopped them from going over the yellow tape. Cameras were now on Doom Slayer as he passed by them.

"Batman! What can you tell us abou-"

"Is this a new member of the Jus-"

"What was all that explosi-"

"Is he a dangerous crimina-"

Already, the reporters flooded them with questions. Some of the JL members answered their questions while Doom Slayer remained quiet and simply kept to himself. He wasn't much interested in their prodding. Yet, he had questions of his own. How the hell was he gonna get out of here? And is it possible to even return to his Earth? And how exactly would he fare in a world of superheroes and villains? So many questions, so few answers.

But for now, he'll have to follow these superheroes to their secret lair or something.

Hey guys! I'm back with a new story! I'm pausing the DOOM: End Times for this chapter while I focus on my day job and online classes. This idea has been floating for quite some time. For those who've guessed it by now, this is inspired by the unofficial trilogy that I would like to call the "Imperial Justice Trilogy" (which is comprised of "Death Korps of Justice", "The Inquisitor", "Justice of a Tech-Priest").

Now for a rundown of the chapter.

The beginning scene is influenced by the second chapter of DKJ but the fight scene is heavily inspired by the cinematic of Batman: Arkham Origins. Alongside that, Deathstroke's appearance is a combination of his comic book depictions, the Arkham and Injustice design, and YJ Season 3's design. So don't expect the ponytail to come up (it's stupid).

Back to the fight scenes, I took a lot of cues from Daredevil vs Punisher, the prison fight from Deadpool 2, and the live-action trailer for DOOM 2016.

And for those wondering, this takes place before DOOM Eternal, so Doomguy still remains OP as before.

Also, fun trivia: while writing this, I come across a fact that Doom Slayer runs at 57 mph; which is about as fast as a cheetah. Deathstroke, meanwhile, runs at a WHOPPING 111-115 mph. Generally speaking, these two could outrun in the Olympic games!

Finally, a big shoutout to Austin for giving me a big push in writing this story! I'm currently watching the re-runs and I aim to continue this while working on DOOM: End Times. I'll be putting both on hold, however, to juggle my day job and courses.
