Summary/Description: A holiday-themed short. Harley has a surprise for her girlfriend, but Ivy wants to water her plants.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters from Batman, as they are owned by DC Comics and Warner Bros. This is just for fun.

"Red…"

Poison Ivy closed her eyes as she took a deep breath to calm herself down. She had been planning to spend time in her special green room nurturing her plants, and that was the end of it. However, her friend had been pestering her for the past several minutes, trying to get her attention for some reason.

She knew how it could easily get boring in the safehouse they were presently in, especially during Christmastime. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy her friend's company or anything. She just wanted to give some special attention to her precious babies at the present time.

"Red…" the female voice said again in a singsong tone.

Ivy placed her thumb and forefinger on each side of the bridge of her nose and gave a small sigh of frustration. Don't lose it, Pam, she thought as she tried to keep herself composed. She only means well. She only wants some attention from you. She doesn't mean to be annoying. She doesn't mean…

"Oh, Red…"

"Harley…" she began, "Don't you see I'm busy over here?"

"I'm bored here."

"Then go watch some TV if you're bored."

"There's nothing on," Harley replied sweetly.

"Listen to the radio, then."

"There's nothing on there, either."

"Then go read a magazine or something."

"I've read all the magazines we have."

"Your hyena pets..."

"They're asleep."

"Then find something to occupy yourself," Ivy said as she added some more soil and dirt to one of her plants. "I'm trying to water my plants over here."

When Harley didn't answer for over the next several seconds, Ivy' s lips curled into a smile. She thought the matter was settled. But she was wrong.

"Red…"

Ivy sighed. Okay, that's it. Enough is enough.

Grimacing, she walked towards her blonde-haired girl who was lying on her couch and looking as sweet as can be.

"What is it, Harley?" Ivy said, on the verge of giving her a tongue lashing lecture. Her face was beginning to resemble a teapot, turning a dark shade of red and ready to let off steam.

Harley could see her friend was more than a little perturbed. She adjusted herself on the couch and sat up straight. "Are you mad at me?"

"No, I'm not mad at you, Harl. I just want to know what the devil is so important that you have to keep calling me?!"

"Just look up and see what you're standing under," the blonde simply replied, pointing up to the ceiling.

Ivy stared at her as though she had grown a second head on her body. What was important about the ceiling the two of them hadn't seen before?

Following her friend's upward glance, she looked up… and with a surprised look on her face discovered something green and leafy hanging above her head.

Mistletoe?" Ivy questioned.

"Surprise!" Harley said over enthusiastically as she stood up. "I found it at a store yesterday while I was out. A special present I wanted to give to my favorite gal pal."

Ivy's face lightened up at the gesture. At the same time, she felt foolish for getting upset with Harley. Here I was starting to get upset with her, she thought. All this time…

"Wow, I don't know what to…" A sudden, passionate kiss put a halt to whatever Ivy was about to say.

Harley pulled back and gave a loving expression for her friend. "Merry Christmas, Ivy," she said, rubbing her nose against her friend's.

Ivy couldn't help but giggle at her friend. Then she hugged her warmly. "Happy Hanukkah, Harley."

The End

A/N: This is an early version of a story I did a few years back on Tumblr. I had planned on adding something to this, maybe improving a few things in the story here and there, but I completely forgotten about it. If anyone has any suggestions on what to add to or remove from this, feel free to drop a comment. Thanks!
