Coming Home

After being separated for nearly a year Bella was going home. She was ready to put military life behind her. This was definitely going to be a 4th of July to remember.

Edward didn't know she was coming home early. In fact, the only person who knew she was arriving today was Rose.

Rose was her best friend, sister-in-law and secret keeper. Bella planned to surprise everyone tonight at the fireworks show at the house. She'd already told them with the holiday she wouldn't be able to email; effectively buying her some time before anyone would worry.

Since she was leaving ahead of schedule, she would be landing at the airport instead of on base, further concealing her arrival. Bella was anxious to get off the plane and meet Rose. She missed her best friend almost as much as she missed her husband. Once the plane landed and the doors opened, Bella was off in search of her best friend. As soon as Rose spotted Bella she was running straight into her arms.

It was nearing 6:00pm when they arrived back in town to get changed at Rose's house. Everyone else was at Edward and Bella's. Changing into the clothes Rose brought for her and applying some light makeup, Bella was ready to surprise her family.

By the time they reached the house, it was well past dark. Emmett, Jasper and Carlisle had already started the fireworks show in the backyard just across the small pond. Even from a distance the amount of people in attendance looked huge against the all gold spray of fireworks in front of them. Bella knew she would find Edward up front with all the kids, along with Esme and Alice since the other guys always did the fireworks. Edward always stayed near his nieces and nephews. She knew he was ready to start a family and was only waiting on her.

Rose moved quickly through the crowd, making a path for Bella whilst making sure no one really saw who she was pulling through.

When Bella caught sight of the familiar bronze hair of her husband, she quickly made her way over to him, gently wrapping her arms around his waist. Feeling his breath still, she knew he could sense it was her holding him. As he began to turn around she released her hold.

When their eyes met, it was as if no time had passed, the smile on Edward's face, brighter than any firework in the sky. No words were spoken as Edward reached out, lightly caressing her cheek and pulling her close to his body. In one swift movement he bent down just enough to lift her off the ground. Instinctively she wrapped her legs around his waist, their lips meeting. Everyone around them faded into the background and Edward kept his hold on Bella, walking to the house. He didn't want to share his wife just yet. He went straight up the stairs to their bedroom, shutting the door.
