Never did Teddy Lupin know that Vic and Dom would cause him this much grief. Sometimes he wishes he never met them. And sometimes he's grateful he got the chance to know them.
Vic and Dom are opposites. Where Vic is blonde, Dominique is redheaded. Where one is gentle and sweet, the other is loud and fiery. Where one can get people to like her, the other doesn't care less.
So as you can see, Vic and Dom are opposites in every sense of the word. Teddy is surprised that Vic became his best friend rather than Dominique, as he liked to get his clothes dirty, and, Victoire, not so much.
Teddy wishes he, Vic, and Dom remained best friends and never had their lives complicated by romantic love. But there are so many things he wishes to be true in regards to these sisters, but none of them could possibly become true.
He hates them for leaving him in shambles after all was sed and done.
He hates the fact that he couldn't look Bill and Fleur Weasley in the eye after what happened.
After leaving their family in shambles. After leaving Victoire traumatized, after leaving Dominique six feet under, after leaving Louis, his little cousin who looked up to him lost and confused. Each of the Weasley-Delacours lived in their own world. Victoire lived in a world where everything was sunshine and roses. Dominique lived in a world of depression. And poor Louis tried to escape his sisters' drama.
He supposed that seeing him with Victoire was the straw that broke the camel's back. Dominique believed that Victoire got everything she wanted just by being so perfect. It didn't help that the wizarding world saw her as an icon. The very thing they fought for. She was born on May second, 2000, and her name meant "victory" in French. She represented their victory against darkness.
And, she is very beautiful. So, she is the wizarding world's angel.
Dominique resented her sister for being so very "perfect". She didn't know that perfection is lonely. She didn't try to understand the stress her sister went through to appear so perfect. Anything less than that didn't bear thinking about.
Victoire was not vane or shallow and that's why she was so perfect.
And Louis, poor Louis! He was caught in the middle, not knowing what to do. Teddy loved both sisters, but one as a friend and one as a lover. Dominique was the friend, and Victoire was the lover.
As he said earlier, Dominique tried to handle Victoire getting "everything she wanted", and, her childhood crush was the last thing.
What he never knew until Dominique's last moment was that she loved him.
He knows how hard unrequited love is. Teddy could remember the days of Jodi Swenson, the Hufflepuff fifth year prefect he had a crush on when he was 13. He was infatuated with her. And she never even noticed him. He was only another 3rd year to her.
Another one of her charges.
And so he understood how Dominique felt.
Dom thought she was always going to be defined by her sister. She was never brave enough to try to be herself. Uncle Charlie was always trying to get her to be herself. But he failed. Because the public wasn't able to stop comparing her to her sister, they doomed her. And he and her family failed her by noticing what was up with her.
Teddy was one of the people who failed her.
Teddy could remember crying on Harry's shoulder in the night for what happened.
That night, when Dom was on her wit's end, the Weasley-Delacours and him found her on the floor with blood everywhere. She had slit her wrists and let them bleed out.
Dom Committed suicide, Vic was in tatters, and Lou was confused and surprised at the horrible turn for the worst his life took.
Vic was too traumatized and hurt to try to start a relationship with him.
Dominique would continue to sit between them for ever and ever.
In short, this what it. Dominique was depressed and had low self-esteem, and thought herself worthless. Victoire failed to understand why his sister resented her, because in her eyes, she was the perfect sister towards her. And Louis was caught in the middle not really getting what was going with his big-brother-like cousin. And him? He was the oblivious one. His head in cloud 9 because him and Vic were finally going somewhere with their more-than-friends relationship.
Dom continued to suffer, unnoticed by all.
Teddy Lupin and the Weasley-Delacours tore each other's lives apart.
It was amazing what love could do.
