Clarkes head hurt. Having to follow all the grounders traditions and rules to save her people left in the mountain was exhausting. After what looked like an endless war they were free. The mountain men that killed hundreds of grounders, which drilled into her people were now dead. It was a relief Clarke didn't know she would be able to feel sense she hit the ground.
Only Maya was able to be saved. As much as they tried to save the innocent's in the mountain, with her mother on the table about to be drilled into Clarke couldn't do it. She pulled the leveler killing all but one. Maya saved only by Jaspers quick thinking of getting her to the last airlock room and having her place on a suit. With the last bone marrow taken Abby was able to make it so Maya could walk outside.
It did little to ease the guilt that threaten to overtake Clarke's heart. Murderer! The ghost in her head said. You killed us! Clarke didn't have time for them not now at least. Not when the future of her people were still so uncertain.
That's what lead to Clarke's current problem and the reason her head hurt so much. Lexa has yet to call a meeting to talk about the future of the alliance, which in turn has made Clarkes mother pester her about when the meeting will take place and what the council wanted.
Half voted to create a new Alliance at least till winters over and the others voted to end the Alliance. Saying without the ark the mountain men would still be killing the Grounders.
Clarke understood both sides but what they didn't seem to understand was it didn't matter what they voted. They were still outnumbered and without the Grounders Alliance continuing there would be no future for the Ark.
"Clarke!" Ravens voice echoed through the peaceful meadow Clarke had hidden herself in.
"Clarke. What are you doing just laying around? I have something that's going to cheer you up."
Clarke sit up as Ravens reached her. Whatever had her so excited, made Clarke a little uneasy. Usually happy for Raven meant blowing things up. Right now Clarke didn't need any more explosions.
"Get up, we are having a party."
"What, A party? Why? How?" confusion heavy in her words.
Raven rolled her eyes. As if I was a child asking why the sky was blue.
"It's time we celebrated being on the ground. Clarke we don't know when the next war will be or if we will even make it pass winter. So I decided its time we actually enjoy being on the ground for once and have a party! Music, dancing, food the whole shebang!" Raven explained as she pulled Clarke to her feet.
"A party actually sounds nice." When was the last time Clarke even got to act her age. Raven was right, they didn't know what tomorrow was going to bring and there was so much what ifs and what to do that the needed a break. A chance to just enjoy being alive, defeating the Mountain and saving their friends. A Party! An Ark tradition! Just cause we are on the ground doesn't mean we have to be Grounders. Throwing a party just might be the best way to get Lexa and her people to see another side. One that let kids be kids, allowed for happiness without fighting and most importantly let her relax.
"When are we having this?"
A smile lite up Ravens face "Tomorrow! Bell and some others have gone off hunting, Octavia and Lincoln are setting up the bonfire, Monty, Jasper and Maya have been wiring the speakers I have fixed for music!"
I couldn't help but feel excited as Raven listed more of the details of the party. It sounded like what we would have on the ark. The camp was busy as ever when they walked through the gates. People the happiest I have ever sense seen coming to earth. Everyone laughing as they moved about getting ready for the party. Make shift tents getting set up. What looked to be lights strung up in between the poles. Benches roughly built but nice none the less were getting placed at what looked to be the biggest bonfire Clarke has yet to see.
"Octavia how much bigger are you making that thing?" Clarke couldn't keep the laughter out her voice. The proud smile on both Lincoln and Octavia's face at the TP fire they were building which now reached well above both their heads and by the pile of dead wood still at their feet was going to keep going.
"Isn't it Great Clarke!" Octavia exclaimed as she through an arm over Clarkes shoulders. The biggest grin on her face.
"If we are going to have a party might as go all out. Who knows when we will be able to do this again."
"Remember we don't want to burn the camp down."
Octavia rolled her eyes well she shook Clarke's shoulders. " Live a Little Clarky. We are having a party!"
"You should invite Lexa Clarke." Octavia tried to keep her face straight as she spoke. After hearing the gossip in Tondoc about how the Grounders thought Clarke had proposed to Lexa and what made it even better Lexa's own people had accepted on Lexa's behalf. Only Clarke could be engaged and not even know it.
Missing the look Lincoln shot Octavia. "Your right Octavia. This be a great way for the council to see the Grounders and Lexa as more than just savages."
Turning on her heel and leaving a laughing Octavia. Clarke headed to where they had kept the couple horses Lexa gifted them before the war. Octavia was right. This party could be just the thing they needed to show the rest of the ark just how much the Grounders are like us.
Placing the horn she had been working on that morning in her saddle bag. She mounted the horse and with a light squeeze headed towards Tonduc at an even trot.
She loved riding. The wind in her hair and the sense of freedom it give her was just what she needed to help soothe her aching head.
As village gate came into view I pulled up, reaching down to pat my mares neck I dismounted. I handed the reins over to the stable master and heading off in the location he said Lexa was.
Lexa was next to the Fighting pit with Indra and Anya. Whatever they were talking about most not have been important cause as soon as Lexa spotted me she smiled and motioned to them to stop.
"Welcome Clarke of the Sky people."
"Hi Commander. I come to invite you and your people to a party we are having at Camp Jaha."
Clarke didn't notice how the Grounders around her had stopped and were listening to her.
Indra and Anya however didn't and narrowed their eyes at the few warriors that stood to listen in.
"We have Music, food and drink for everyone. There will be dancing and games. It will be a chance for both our people to come together and celebrate peace." Reaching into her pocket Clarke pulled out the Horn she had been working on.
"I know the acid fog is no longer a problem but in case you ever need to call for help I made this for you. It's out of moose antler so the sound will travel far, insuring that no matter where you are someone will always be able to hear you." With a smile on her face Clarke handed over the Horn. Engraved on the side was the words. May your spirit never leave us.
Both Indra and Anya groaned. This annoying Sky girl wasn't giving up on courting Heda. First drinking the bottle thought to be poisoned, replacing the sword the panuna had destroyed and presenting it in front of the whole army, marching into the camp after Lexa had left her and her people to die, to lay the body of the man responsible for killing so many of Lexa's people. And now this. A horn for her to call on Clarke the commander of death herself. Whenever Lexa so desired. If anyone was going to marry the Commander Anya couldn't believe she was going to say this. At least it was Clarke. The tough Sky girl had continued to prove she was just the strength Heda needed.
