Origins Pt. 2

"There is more to being a power ranger than mastering a sword. You must also learn to use your inherited samurai symbols." Ji said, as we were all practicing our symbols. I was able to produce my symbol, using a bunch of strokes. A cloud of darkness surrounded me, and I giggled. Once it passed, I looked over to Ji, who was right beside me. "Pretty good, Harita." I smiled. I heard Kevin groan and Emily apologizing. There was a boulder near Kevin's foot, so to my guess, Emily produced the earth symbol, yet the boulder fell onto Kevin's foot. I look to my left, to see Mike struggling to draw his symbol. I shook my head and laughed.

"That's it!" Mike exclaimed, even though nothing happened.

"Mike, if that was right, wouldn't you think something would have happened by now?" I asked, smirking.

"Shut up." Mike mumbled.

"The order of the strokes is wrong." I look over to see Ji shaking his head. "Mike you need to practice more."

"Okay, I get it." Mike sighed. "Practice more. How about a lunch break? You'd be amazed on how well I practice after a few slices of pizza." I cringed at Mike's suggestion. We almost never get breaks. Almost. Ji shook his head and looked disappointed.

"Mike, I love you, but I swear to god, if you don't stop slurping your drink, I will knock that cup out of your hand." I threatened. Mike put the cup down and looked at us. It was just Kevin, Mike, and I in the doja room. Kevin was kicking at the boxing bag, I was trying to get my flexibility back in shape by stretching, and Mike was… well, taking a break.

"Hey Kev, Har, you ever take breaks?" Mike asked.

"Every second you're not training, is a second wasted." Kevin took another kick at the bag.

"Yeah what he said, except when you're sleeping." I moved my legs into a split. "Kev, kick higher, and don't swing your arms." Kevin did what told, and his kicks did improve.

"Okay Kev, let's see if practice makes perfect." Mike walks up to the middle, holding his fists up, getting ready to spar against Kevin. In a blink of an eye, the next thing I knew was that Mike was successful to grab Kevin into a choke hold, but Mike was struggling to hold it.

"Hey guys, I can't find Emily." Mia interrupted, causing the boys to stop their quarreling.

"Did you find her yet?" I asked Kevin and Mia, who I met up with in the middle of the mall. Both Mia and Kevin shook their heads. I turned around and saw Mike walking towards us, carrying a container of stir-fried rice, and holding a corn dog on his other hand.

"Mike, how 'bout you?" Mia asked.

"How about what?" Mike muffled through his stuffed mouth.

"About Emily." Kevin groaned. "Were you even looking for her?"

"Yeah, but I got hungry. Emily probably went out sight-seeing, or shopping, or something. I'm sure she's okay." Mike reasoned.

"I don't know, she's a country girl, she wouldn't wander around the city by herself." Mia argued. Kevin was staring at Mike's corn dog.

"Want a bite?" Mike asked.

"No thanks, I never snack between meals on samurai training." Kevin looked away. I snatched the corn dog from Mike and took a bite.

"Thank you, I was hungry." I said to Mike, who just shrugged his shoulders.

"When aren't you in training?" Mike asked.

"Never."

"Wow, you're really serious about the samurai lifestyle." Mia gasped.

"Of course, aren't you?" Kevin asked.

"Yeah, but I also want to have a normal life too. I'm getting used to the idea that now I'm a samurai, but it's a little scary."

"Don't worry, you'll get used to it." Kevin reassured.

"But what about you?" Mia asked. "I heard you left your dreams of being in the Olympics to be here Kevin."

"Yeesh, that's a big change Kevin. Don't you miss it?" I questioned.

"No. When a samurai decides to serve, he is committed, forever."

"Probably has daddy issues." I muttered to Mike, who nodded. "Maybe even mommy issues."

"Wow, forever. That's a long time to go without a snack." Mike joked.

"Hey, there's Emily." Mia pointed to the field across the mall, where Emily was training.

"Emily, you've been training here, all by yourself?" I exclaimed.

"Yes." Kevin cheered. "The dedication of a samurai."

"It's not just that." Emily chuckled. "I promised my big sister to work hard, so I can be a fighter like the rest of you."

"Your big sister?" Kevin asked. Emily looked away.

"My big sister was supposed to become the yellow ranger, but she got sick. I had to take her place."

"Wow, that must be hard." Mike sympathetically said.

"It's been harder to see her go through her illness. And anyways, I wasn't a superstar at school."

"Oh, don't sell yourself short." Mia exclaimed.

"Oh no, I do have talents! I'm really good at playing the flute, and I can definitely handle a sword. So, becoming a power ranger is a fresh start for me!"

"Did you hear that? She was the heart of a true samurai warrior." Kevin said to Mike.

"You've been training hard, you need this more than I do." Mike handed Emily one of his corn dogs.

Aww, young love.

"What's that?" Mike asked, as the Gap Sensor buzzed.

"That's the Gar Sensor, also known as the my alarm clock to wake me up from my naps." I answered.

"It goes off the moment a Nightlock comes through a gap from the Netherworld." Ji opened up the invisible map on the table, which showed the location the nightlocks are in.

"Where are they?" Mia asked, after noticing Ji's concerned face.

"City Hall."

"Samurai Rangers, we've got a battle to fight." Jayden announced. He ran off, and I followed, soon the others followed.

"Who's this?" The Nightlock, or who I called Scorpion Face, asked.

"Samuraizer." We all yelled, get our morphers out. "Go, go Samurai." I drew my symbol that allowed me to turn into the Purple Ranger. I pocketed my sword and looked at everyone else, who was also in their uniforms. "Rangers together, samurai forever!"

"Moogers, attack!" The Nightlock yelled. I ran towards the Moogers, as they ran towards me. I slashed and swished, and once I got a few done, I pulled out my 'Dark Whip' disk and inserted it into my swords, turning it to my 'Dark Whip'. I diced up the Moogers faster, and soon the pack disintegrated. Suddenly, a large blast came to the left, and I headed towards it. I saw Jayden fighting Scorpion Face. A pack of moogers were coming his way, so I decided to take a piece of them. Once I finished the Moogers, I turned around to see Emily, who knows how she got there, and Jayden on the ground, squirming from pain. Scorpion Face was about to take a hit on them, but me being the hero I am, I ran towards them, blocking them from the hit. Looks like Mike, Mia, and Kevin had the same exact idea, cause the next thing I knew, we were all lying on the ground, our armour disappeared and in our regular clothing. Scorpion face walked away, and I tried to regain myself.

"We must stand and be strong. Either the Nightlock will be defeated or we will be defeated." Jayden lectured.

"Understood." Keving replied.

"Yeah, yeah. I know." Mike groaned.

"Just give me a minute." I added, trying to get up off the ground. I looked up and saw a little girl, standing behind a pillar. Jayden got up, grabbed his sword and started attacking Scorpion face. As Jayden was doing that, I got up, grabbed my sword, quickly got into my armour, and ran to the little girl. I saw her mom screaming to her daughter from a distance. I ran towards the mom and handed her the girl, and turned my attention back to Scorpion Face. I met up with Jayden, as well did the others, and stood by him.

"Jayden, what now?" Kevin asked.

"Our spin swords will turn him to dust." He took out his disk, inserted it, and spun it, adding extra force to his sword. We all did the same, and then jumped at Scorpion Face, each taking a turn hitting him, knocking him down.

"Yeah! That was excellent!" Kevin cheered.

"We're not done yet." Jayden warned.

"Don't think you've just won yet Rangers." Scorpion Face said, only this time bigger and in his mega-mode form.

"Let's go." Jayden ordered. I placed my Folding Zord on the ground and pulled out my Morpher, drawing the symbol on top of it.

"Jaguar Folding Zord. Mega Mode Power!" I yelled. I reappeared inside of my Folding Zord. I insisted my sword into the slot in front of me and placed the disk in it's correct spot. I pushed my sword forward, moving my Jaguar towards the Nightlock, as well did the others.

"Time to eat some dust." Scorpion Face said, sending a tornado of dust our way.

"This isn't good." Mike grumbled. "Where's the turbo switch."

"Our zords alone aren't enough. We have to combine forces." Jayden said.

"A zord combination! Let's do it!" Kevin yelled. We all agreed. "Samurai Rangers, zords combine!" Suddenly, our zords formed blocks and stacked ontop of eachother. "We're locked and ready."
"Are we supposed to look like this?" Mia asked.

"I'm not sure." Kevin replied.

"No, we definitely aren't." I answered.

"What is that?" Scorpion Face asked. "A Ranger totem pole?"

"If totem poles crush Nightlock, you got it." Emily replied.

"You Rangers are playing with blocks." Scorpion Face laughed.

"Kevin, what have you done?" Jayden asked.

"Oh no, did I make a mistake?"

"You left me out."

"Oh no! I did it wrong."

"What's the deal? Why am I the low man on the totem pole." Mike complained, causing us to move a bit.

"Woah, Mike. Don't make it wobble." Emily warned.

"Watch out block-heads, cause you're all about to take a tumble." Scorpion Face knocked down the totem pole with his sword, causing us to fall down.

"This time, I'll start it." Jayden said. "Samurai Rangers, zords combine!" Our zords combined into a mega-zord. Kevin and Mike were the legs, Emily and Mia were the arms, and Jayden and I was the chest and head. I turned around to see my fellow teammates near me. I was standing next to Jayden and Mike.

"Yeah!" We all cheered.

"Sorry guys." Kevin apologized.

"No worries Kev, we got it now." Emily replied.

"Heads up everyone, he's closing in on us." Jayden informed. I looked ahead to see Scorpion Face charging towards us. We grabbed our sword and attacked him. We dodged when needed to and attacked when needed. We successfully got him down to the ground, but unfortunately, he summoned giant Moggers.

"God dammit, he really had to send in those bugs." I mumbled as we attacked the Moogers. Soon, we got too into the battle, that we were all caught up in their chains.

"What do we do now?" Mia asked.

"Stay strong, stay brave." Jayden ordered. "Furious Lion Howl." A gust of fire sprouted out and attacked the Moogers. We got out of our chains, and knocked down all the Moogers. "Let's squash this scorpion."

"Time to back up, and use my back-up." Scorpion Face announced, sending more Moogers.

"Well we aren't backing down." Jayden said, as we knocked down the rest of the Moggers. I took out my sword, so did the others, and pointed it at the Mooger.

"Katana power, Samurai strike!" We all yelled, spinning our disk, adding more power to our megazord's sword. We then stabbed Scorpion Face, knocking him out for good.

"Samurai Rangers, victory is ours."

"Well done! All of you!" Ji greeted us once we walked into the Shiba house.

"Thanks Ji." Jayden replied.

"Hey Em, what's up?" Mike asked, looking at her concerned face.

"Well… I almost let you all down."
"You did good Emily." Jayden said.

"You know, your big sister would be proud of you." I wrapped my arm around her shoulder.

"Hey guys, I have a surprise for you." Mike announced. "I learned a new symbol."

"Really." Ji gasped.

"Symbol Power!" Mike yelled, drawing his symbol with his morpher. "Fun!" Confetti sprinkled everywhere, and Mike did a backflip and started to dance. We all laughed.
