Overwhelming anger, unrelenting hunger, ceaseless pain. These were the only things that ran through the mind of the Deviljho as she stomped her way through the Ancient Forest. Being a massive creature of 21 feet tall and 62 feet long, Deviljho had insanely high body temperatures to keep their massive frames moving, which required a lot of energy to maintain. So they were constantly on the move, always in search of their next meal, even after they'd eaten something as large as an Aptonoth, bones and all. To fail to find food would of course lead to death, but they would meet a fate worse than death before their bodies ceased to function.
Contained within the mighty Brute Wyvern was an organ known as a Dragon Organ, a small sac-like organ that produced one of the deadliest elements on the planet: Dragon Element, a cloud of black fog with red lighting arcing inside of it. It could drain the elemental power or status properties of a hunter's weapon and the very life of anything subjected to it. However, should a Deviljho be unable to attain its fill, it will go into a process known as Catabolysis, where the body begins breaking itself down for nutrients to stay alive just a bit longer. This, of course, also results in this organ being slowly eaten away, which causes the Dragon Element to leak out into the creature's bloodstream, flooding into its brain and overcharging the beast into a fit of never-ending rage and hunger.
And that's what this Deviljho suffered from, for she was a Savage Deviljho, a deranged beast trying to sate its hunger and bring an end to its suffering that simply will not come. And that was how she found herself in in Ancient Forest, trying to bring down a Kushala Daora; a metal-skinned Elder Dragon, a living force of nature that controlled devastatingly powerful gale-force winds. As the two struggled to overcome one another, Deviljho released a mighty stream of Dragon Energy from her mouth to match the surge of pressurized air coming from the Kushala's mouth. The Dragon Energy became unstable, and the resulting explosion sent both creatures to the ground. With that, the Deviljho felt the last bit of energy leaving its body and it felt itself begin to slow down, its eyes closing for what it believed would be the last time.
The Kushala Daora got back up and looked at its vanquished foe. This wasn't the first time the Elder Dragon faced a Savage Deviljho, but it never got any easier watching these once-mighty creatures succumb to their own hunger. However, before it could leave the scene, a dark purple mist suddenly appeared in the air several feet behind the fallen Brute Wyvern. Then, it began to expand into a vortex of black and purple swirling vapor. A powerful vacuum suddenly came from the portal that almost rivaled the Kushala's own abilities. The body of the Savage Deviljho began to slide towards the vortex before it was completely pulled through. The vortex quickly closed once the beast had been dragged inside, leaving behind the shocked Kushala Daora. Elder Dragons were incredibly intelligent, at least on par with humans, so this creature knew something unnatural was afoot, although it couldn't be sure what. What it did know is that whatever force that took the Savage Deviljho had better hope that the beast was dead.
Early in the morning, the first rays of sunshine passed over a pair of eyelids, causing the red eyes below them to jolt open. Said eyes then began to take in their surroundings. It was a location the owner of the eyes had never seen before, with buildings far larger than anything they had ever seen humans create before, appearing to be made mostly of perfectly carved stone, something the human society it knew was incapable of. The Deviljho had never been more confused in her life, getting onto her hands and knees, pushing her upper body off the ground, and rising back onto her feet.
Wait, hands and knees? Deviljhos had tiny arms that were useless, not good for anything, especially picking their massive bodies up off the ground. Speaking of massive bodies, as tall as these buildings were, the Deviljho should still have easily been able to peer across the rooftops, yet the buildings were easily three times her height. She then looked and saw a reflective surface like the crystals in the Elder's Recess. What she found gave her quite a shock. She approached the surface and put her hands on it, looking back at the human reflected on it. Human. She was a human.
And yet, nothing like the humans of the New World she had seen before. She was of average height for a male human at six feet, but she still had quite the muscular body. Her skin was of a pale, slightly green-tinted color and her hair was dark green, almost the color of her scales when she was a normal Deviljho. She had a row of the spike-like osteoderms she had as a Deviljho on her hips, running down the outsides of her legs to her knees. Her chin and jawline were, well... lined, with teeth like they were when she was a Deviljho. Upon opening her mouth, which could open quite wide for a human, she discovered she still had quite sharp and formidable-looking teeth. Oh, yeah! And she still had her tail. At least as long as she was tall, a couple feet of it dragged along the ground behind her.
She then noticed something behind her reflection that left her shocked. She turned around and saw her body. Her Deviljho body, lying dead on the ground. Not only that, but the skin appeared to be falling off the bone. The former Brute Wyvern was shocked at this, starting to feel fear and panic. Where was she?! How did she get here?! How could she get home?! Did something bring here? If so, what was it?!
Then, she stopped as she realized something. She was feeling a lot of things she didn't normally feel. Fear, confusion, panic. But there was one normally familiar feeling she wasn't feeling now. Hunger. For the first time in her life, her gnawing hunger had finally subsided. She sighed in relief at this. At least something good could come from all this craziness. But she also felt something else: the natural heat and hum of power of her Dragon element. Looking to the sky and taking a deep breath, she exhaled a cloud of the ancient energy. She still had her power. But humans could never utilize the Dragon element without weapons. Just what was going on here?!
Turning back around to her reflection, she noticed something else about her new self: she was naked [1]. She then took note of her more feminine features. As a Deviljho, she was simply a good bit larger than most males, and that must have transferred over to this new human form as well. She noticed that her new body had sizeable hips. Lifting her tail with her arms, albeit with some effort, she saw she had quite a prominent rear end as well. And her chest was of a decent size as well, much bigger than those of that human girl collecting mushrooms who clung to her tail after she took down a Great Jagras [2].
However, she thought that she should cover herself. While she had no concept of modesty, she assumed humans frowned upon it to walk around naked. Why else would they wear those strange coverings? Turning back to her Deviljho body, she pulled away a bit of skin from the tail, finding that she was still quite strong in this human form, wearing it like a strapless dress. It covered up her chest and front well enough, though in the back, it didn't go past her tail. Luckily, her tail was already covering her butt, so she deemed it to be fine.
Almost immediately after she had done this, three of what looked like several smaller metal carts humans used rolled up in front of her. But where were the Popo or Aptonoth that pulled them? Regardless, a couple of humans got out of the two vehicles in the front and aimed what looked like slingers held in their hands at her. "Freeze! Identify yourself! What is that creature beside you!?" They demanded.
However, while the world the Deviljho came from had numerous languages, they mostly used the English dialect, especially the hunters of the New Word. So even if this was a language from her world, she did not recognize what they were saying. Simply assuming she could speak like any other human, she attempted to do so. "I... I don't know what you're saying." She told them. [3]
Thankfully, English was a language that existed in their world. And the person who got out of the car behind the front two could help with that. She had black hair and pink eyes and wore a black leather coat that reached about halfway to her knees, a dark blue shirt beneath it, black jeans, and black boots. Her image then appeared as an illustration with a blue background, her name spelled in Japanese beside her.
"Detective Ichika Hayabusa! Her Quirk: Telepathy! She can hear the thoughts and memories of others, speak to them with her mind and send information she knows to others! This means she can, for example, teach people years' worth of school subjects or teach them to fluently speak different languages in less than a minute! How convenient!" A voice that sounded like it belonged to a radio talk show host narrated.
"So, you speak English, huh? Fair enough," she said, looking at the reptilian girl and sending a mental link to her. (It's alright. We're not going to hurt you. We just need to ask you a few things, okay?) She explained.
The former Brute Wyvern was shocked at this. (What is this? How can I hear you without you speaking?! And how can I answer your questions? Whatever you guys are speaking, I don't speak it.) She told the detective.
(It's my Quirk, and don't worry. I'll teach you how to speak like us.) Ichika explained, sending the entire Japanese language into the girl's mind. "So, ready to come over and talk now?" She asked.
However, this simply overwhelmed the monster girl, causing her to step back. "What's going on here? Who are you people!? And what are these Quirks?!" She questioned, speaking perfect Japanese despite her shock.
The officers were all shocked at this, and Ichika was no exception. "How can you not know what Quirks are?" She questioned.
"Where I come from, humans can't do that! And their carts were pulled by herbivores, and they had their slingers on their arms!" The former "World Eater" told them.
"What is she talking about?" One of the officers asked.
"I don't know. But I'm about to find out." Ichika said, looking into the girl's memories. Once she did, she was horrified as she was flooded with a sense of endless hunter and exhausting amounts of anger as she watched a creature that looked like the dead creature beside the girl as it tore apart strange creatures she had never seen before, fought against even more strange beasts of which she had never seen and fought against people that, for all intents and purposes, seemed to be Quirkless, as well as rather primitive, as they fought with weapons long-since retired in modern times. She continued to go through the memories, from a fight with a female hunter with a greatsword, accompanied by a man with a pink pompadour, to the fight with a strange, metallic dragon that controlled the wind, and finally coming up to where the girl was now. "What on Earth was that...?" She wondered. Memories couldn't lie, so somehow or other, this girl and the dead creature beside her were one in the same.
"So, what are we doing with her, Detective? She doesn't seem to be a threat, but we need answers. And she looks pretty out of it, too. I don't like the idea of her walking around alone." Another officer said.
"You're right." The detective said, walking up to the girl. "I know all this must be confusing. I'm having a hard time processing everything you went through, myself. But if you come with us, I promise we can help you." She told her.
Ordinarily, the Deviljho girl would destroy any creature that posed a threat coming up to her like this, but this new human brain of hers was making her feel strange things. Like she could believe the person in front of her wouldn't try to kill her. Is this what the humans call "trust?" But the human mind was also giving her a sense of reason, she had no idea where she was, people in this world apparently had abilities that could give monsters a run for their money, and she was in a much smaller and weaker form than her original one. If someone could help her make sense of all this, she'd take it. "Very well. I suppose you could be useful in helping me figure out my… situation." She declared, putting up a tough act.
So, they arrived at the police station and the two exchanged their stories, telling each other about their own worlds, all the while Ichika teaching her some social normalcies that she figured the formerly ravenous monster was unaware of. They also brought in some proper clothes for the girl, leading to the interesting debacle of the detective helping the newly human girl how to get dressed, even having to assist with the deed when the World Eater seemed clueless about them. "Well, your world certainly is a chaotic one." Ichika said in surprise.
"And your world isn't? Glowing babies, hunters- er... heroes being treated like gods for making sure people don't die? And I'm not even the strangest creature one might encounter on an average day?!" The Deviljho countered.
"I suppose you have a point there. I guess you know the system's bad when a girl who used to be a giant dinosaur called 'The World Eater' questions your society." The detective admitted.
"But, you have absolutely no idea how I may have ended up in this world? Or how I can get back?" She asked.
The officer frowned at this. "I'm sorry, but no. There are people with Quirks out there who can teleport or even open portals like the ones you saw, but I've never heard of any of them being powerful enough to open portals to different planets." She explained. Shen then wondered something. "But would it really be better to go back? Being a monster that's always hungry and angry, having to fight and kill and eat every waking moment to survive?" She questioned.
The Deviljho girl thought about this. "It was a rough life, but it's the life I knew. And one that made sense, unlike this place. I don't understand anything that goes on here! What could I possibly do?" She questioned.
"You could have a life. A normal, simple life. Where you're not always fighting, or always hungry. You have more options here than you ever did in your old world." Ichika told her.
Her monster mind would've screamed at her to demolish this woman and go on a rampage, killing everyone and filling her gut until she was dead, but her human mind was seeing the value of her words and had to admit, what she was saying didn't sound bad. "Fine. Let's say I consider it. What options do I have now? I have none of this 'money' thing you humans require to obtain food or shelter. And I could sleep anywhere as a Deviljho, but as a human, I doubt that's a good option." She explained.
Ichika thought about this. "Well, you look about 14 years old. For now, we should find you a nice school for you to attend, under the presumption you're an exchange student. Then we could look into having the family of one of your classmates take you in, assuming you can behave yourself." She said, gaining a stern glare at the end.
"No promises." The former monster said with a smirk.
The detective rolled her eyes at this. "Well, I'll find you an opening in one of the nearby middle schools. But we'll have to fill out a registration, which would include your name." She explained.
"I was a wild animal. My mother left the nest before I even hatched, and she didn't leave any note behind saying what my name was." The World Eater said sarcastically.
Ichika was resisting the urge to facepalm now. "Well, your species were called DEVIL-jho, and you act like a Hellspawn, so I think I've got the perfect name for you." She said as she finished setting up the profile. "Done. You've been submitted to Aldera Junior High. That's not too far away and school won't start for another hour and a half, so we've got plenty of time to go over things from our world you'll need to know until then." The detective told her.
"Good idea. I certainly don't want to start this 'new life' of mine with people thinking I'm either crazy or an idiot." The destroyer of ecosystems agreed.
And so, for the next hour, both by explaining it and with the help of her Quirk, Ichika got the reptile girl caught up with everything a student her age would need to know. Then, the computer gave off an alarm of notice. The detective quickly went over and checked it. "Oh, good. A family has even agreed to take you in." Ichika told her.
"Great. Then all I need to know now is my name." The former Brute Wyvern said.
[1] Before anyone complains about having a teenager naked, just remember that the actual show did this as well. With both genders.
[2] If it wasn't obvious, this was referring to the Handler. This Deviljho was the same one from that mission.
[3] For future reference, our lady Deviljho shall be voiced by the goddess amongst voice actors, Tara Strong! Specifically, her voice for Raven from Teen Titans and its spin-off that shall not be named.
