20Bullpen
McGee and Bishop, were doing their work. McGee was looking a little bit tired he was checking all his emails and Bishop was doing a crossword. Gibbs was not in the squad room yet, the elevator dings and Torres came out of the elevator... McGee noticed him and smile at him.
"Hey, guys! Good morning." Nick said as he stops at McGee's desk.
"Morning Nick." McGee greeted him with a smile.
"Good morning..." Ellie said without looking up still doing her crossword.
"Are you stuck, Ellie? If you need some help we are here, right Tim?" Nick tried to get her attention.
"Any of you know the synonym for Fearless that start with 'G' and ends with 'T' seven letters word?" She asked.
"Gibbs..." McGee and Torres said together.
"Right but that only five letters. I need a seven-letter word that ends with T" Bishop said and tapped her pencil on the desk.
"Gallant," Gibbs said as he entered the squad room large coffee cup in his left hand and he headed toward his desk.
"What? Gal...What?" Nick asked with confusion.
"Starts with 'G' and ends with 'T'. Gallant is your word, Bishop."
"Oh...hey, Gibbs! Thanks. I was trying to figure out this for the last twenty minutes."
"Don't mention it." Gibbs simply replied and sits down at his desk.
"What! You spend twenty minutes after one word! Why don't you just Google it?" McGee was surprised...
"That is cheating McGee. And I do crossword for fun."
"This is crazy man! McGee is right you can find it on the internet so easily. And that's not cheating that is called uh... smartness." Nick said as he puts down his bag on the floor and leaned back to his desk.
"And what she did call 'Honesty' Torres..." Gibbs said without looking up. Bishop looked at Nick and smile with victory.
"Aha... Thank you, Gibbs." She said.
Gibbs's desk phone started ringing and after a few rings he picked up the phone.
"Special Agent Gibbs" Gibbs answered the call.
"Yeah, I know the place, be there in ten." Gibbs hung up then.
"Got a case Boss?" McGee asked casually.
"No, she called me to ask me for a date, McGee!" Gibbs replied in sarcasm.
"Yeah, we got a case! Grab your gear, come on I'm driving." Gibbs took his gun and ID and started walking toward the elevator.
They all pick up their bags and took their IDs and weapons and started following Gibbs.
"Is that ever happened before?" Nick whispered.
"Happened what?" Bishop asked and she and Nick stop in the middle.
"That someone wanted to ask him for a date but was afraid to ask him because you know he's Gibbs."
"What is he talking about?" McGee asked when he heard Bishop and Nick are talking about something.
"Torres is asking that any woman asked Gibbs for a date on the phone just because she's afraid to ask him face to face."
"You should better talk about this to DiNozzo dating and snooping is his favourite subject, not mine..." McGee said and they all are walking towards the elevator.
"Hey, keep your voice low otherwise Gibbs would hear you and he thinks we are bitching behind his back!" Nick whispered.
"Gibbs can still hear you!" Gibbs said loudly and enter the elevator.
But before they could reach the elevator Gibbs already entered the elevator and the elevator's door shut down on their faces they saw Gibbs was glaring at them.
Mcgee pushed the button and they all were waiting for the elevator.
"Oh boy! He was looking pissed." Bishop said.
"That's not the problem Bishop," McGee said.
"Seriously, McGee! We have to spend the whole day with pissed Gibbs! What would be worse than that?" Nick said.
"Gibbs is going to drive!" McGee and Bishop both said together.
"Oh boy, I haven't renewed my life insurance policy," Nick said.
With that, they all entered the elevator.
AT THE CRIME SCENE
"Rough night, McGee?" Bishop asked when she noticed McGee is looking tired.
"Yeah, didn't sleep well last night. Morgan was not feeling well and kept crying and I didn't want to disturb Delilah so took Morgan with me spent the whole night on the couch."
"Well, I have a solution for this," Bishop said mischievously and took his pictures so closely McGee blink his eyes multiple times to adjust his eyes sight.
"Feeling good, Tim?"
"Haha, very funny."
"Okay, what do we have?" Gibbs asked as he finished talking with the Metro PD officers.
"Our victim is a Navy officer and his name is Justin White he was 28 years old there is nothing more about him..." McGee answered as he took the print of that dead guy to get his ID from Fingerprint Scanner.
"Witnesses?" Gibbs asked.
"An old couple found his body during their morning run," Bishop informed him.
"Murder weapon?"
"There is no murder weapon found yet. It looks like he was hit by something." Bishop reply.
"Where the hell is Palmer?" Gibbs yelled in frustration.
"Here. Sorry agent Gibbs I was...oh, I think I should get back to work." He stopped in the middle of his sentence when Gibbs glared at him.
"Good idea," Gibbs said. Palmer crouched next to the body and started examining the body.
"Time of death?"
"Well, our victim died...almost 24 hours ago that all I can say right now because of the weather his body temperature is reducing so fast."
"Cause of death?"
"One fatal wound to the head that might cause blunt force trauma. He might be hit with something very hard object on his head Gibbs. That's all I can say right now until I perform an autopsy." Palmer replied.
Gibbs look around to find where Torres is and suddenly his expression changes and he freezes where he was standing and suddenly he pulled out his gun and ran towards the other side of the road.
"Gibbs! Are you okay?" Bishop asked but he didn't reply.
"Boss! Hey, Boss!"
"Hey! Federal Agents stop there!" Gibbs yelled in that direction.
Gibbs didn't stop and didn't answer their questions either and kept running. McGee pulled out his weapon and follow Gibbs. From the other side of the road, Torres was watching all of this.
He saw one car was coming towards Gibbs so fast like it was going to hit Gibbs purposely.
"GIBBS STOP! HEY!" Nick yelled but when Gibbs didn't stop he ran toward Gibbs as fast as he could and launched himself towards Gibbs.
He throws himself at Gibbs and saved him in time. They both hit the ground so badly Gibbs hit his head on the ground and Nick hits his shoulder on the ground very badly.
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING HUH! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND GIBBS?" Nick yelled at Gibbs.
"Boss! Gibbs are you okay?" McGee asked with concern.
"I'm fine. Argh..." Gibbs groan in pain as he tries to sit up and started looking in that direction like he was searching for something or someone.
"Yeah, we can see that. You are bleeding, Gibbs. What were you doing? You were just running like a kid on the road without looking around!" Bishop said.
"You didn't see that? Somebody was watching us!" Gibbs asked. He tried to catch his breath but he was more concerned about what he saw.
"Where? There is no one Gibbs. If there was anyone you should have to tell me instead of running like hell and almost getting yourself killed!" Torres was still mad at him.
"You think I don't know that! I don't want to alert him. I saw someone was watching us and when he noticed that I got him then he ran into the woods. Didn't see the face clearly but I am sure there was someone." Gibbs tried to explain what he saw.
"Well, then he might be our guy who killed our victim," McGee said as he put his gun back in the holster.
"Maybe..." Gibbs whispered.
He tried to get up but feels dazed and staggered he feel someone put pressure on his shoulder and make him sit again.
"Gibbs stay still your head is bleeding, let me check first..." Palmer said as he clean the wound and put the bandage on it. He had a cut on his left eyebrow and a few scratches on his face.
"Hey, McGee!" Nick called him and signed him to come to him.
"What Nick?" McGee and Bishop joined him.
"Hey, did you get the license plate of that vehicle, McGee?" Torres ask as he stretches his left shoulder.
"I didn't notice that I was worried about you guys. Why?" McGee said.
"Because it looks like that car was going to hit Gibbs intentionally. Whoever was driving it increased the speed when Gibbs was right in front of the vehicle." Nick said.
"We will find out once Gibbs is fine till then let's focus on the case," McGee replied.
"But what if he's our guy or he sent someone to kill Gibbs and he decides to see the whole thing by himself maybe that's why he was standing there and watching us?" Nick was really pissed.
"Hey, we just got here it's barely one hour why would someone try to kill Gibbs? I mean someone might be watching us but I don't think so that driver wanted to kill him. You are just overthinking Torres." Bishop said.
"I don't know but I don't like it. Let's hope Gibbs is not that badly injured." Nick said.
"I'm fine now to get back to work, Bishop bag, and tag everything," Gibbs said as he joined them.
"Are you sure Gibbs because if Nick wasn't there we might be bagging your dead body in the body bag?" Bishop was angry too.
"Get back to work we have a job to do." Gibbs avoid her. Gibbs turned around and shout Torres's name.
"Hey, Torres!"
"Yeah, Gibbs."
"You ok? You hit your shoulder very hard."
"I'm good, Sir."
"Thanks, man." Gibbs thanked him for saving his life.
"C'mon man there's no need. I know you would do the same for me." Nick said as he taps on Gibbs's shoulder.
McGee and Bishop finish their job and secure the crime scene. Jimmy put the body in the van with the help of Torres. Gibbs was talking with someone on the phone and then he looked around once again to make sure if someone is watching them or not. Then he heads towards the car he let Mcgee drive his car and they left.
But without their knowledge, someone is watching them from the distance. And looking not happy. After standing there for a few seconds that person left.
SO GIBBS WAS RIGHT SOMEONE IS WATCHING THEM. WHO IS THAT PERSON AND WHY DOES SOMEONE WANT TO KILL GIBBS? WHO IS THAT CAR DRIVER? WAS HE THE REAL KILLER, WHO KILLED THE VICTIM? THEN WHO IS THAT PERSON WHO IS WATCHING THEM? THEY HAVE BARELY STARTED THE INVESTIGATION. THANKS TO NICK GIBBS IS ALIVE AND FINE.
