Hello! Merry Christmas to everyone! I'm back with a new story and my first crossover between ToAru and Fate / stay night.

I would have published the chapter earlier, but I was quite undecided about the title to give to the story. Set starting from the events of Fate / Zero, Accelerator is reincarnated as Illyasvel's twin brother with a new name and a new life.

Accelerator's interactions with the magical side were interesting in canon, but very limited. So I thought about writing this story. How will an individual of the scientific world react to moonlit world?

Happy reading to everyone.

Disclaimer: the To aru majutsu no index series is owned by Kamachi Kazuma and the Fate series is owned by Type-Moon.

Prologue

Rebirth

Akasha, the Root, it is the location of the Akashic Records, the Swirl of the Root which is the source of all events and phenomena in the universe. Existing outside of time and space, it stores and archives the information of all possibilities and on the events, past, present and future of the world. It is the place from where all souls, including those of the Heroic Spirits registered on the Throne of Heroes, come from and where they return after death.

Each soul follows a karmic cycle which at the end of their life they return to the root purifying themselves from the memories of their previous life and reincarnate to become completely new individuals. This law is almost absolute for every human being in the entire multiverse.

However, there are sometimes rare exceptions to the rule of those who can remember fragments or even the entirety of their previous lives.

And this is where our story begins.

Germany, Einzbern Castle.

In the center of a cold and semi-dark room sat a man. He was dressed in black from head to toe and accompanied by the color of his hair and eyes, he gave off a dark aura, an aura forged from years of winding roads, typical of a man who constantly walked with death.

Inactivity was something that man hated, never as at that moment he wanted to do something, he wanted to speak aloud, he wanted to do everything in order to be useful in a situation of such importance. Yet he couldn't do anything, he could only sit and wait in silence. And so he waited.

The man had been sitting there for hours waiting for news of his wife.

A normal man would have considered this a happy day and under normal circumstances it would be. But he was not a normal man nor were the circumstances.

This man was Emiya Kiritsugu, known by all as the infamous Magus Killer, a man feared by many in the moonlit world for his ability to hunt rogue magus.

In the magecraft world, finding happiness was not easy especially if you tried to maintain the standards of a worldly person, in such circumstances it could be difficult to survive and equally difficult to build a happy family.

So it was hard to try to be happy even though this was the day when ...

Footsteps caught his attention, he heard the door open.

"Kiritsugu-sama!" cried a woman's voice.

The man raised his head. He saw a waitress with short white hair and red eyes and dressed in a white dress. The woman continued talking.

"Your children are born."

Kiritsugu sighed, got up and started walking towards the room where his wife Irisviel and their newborn children were waiting for him.

He walked along the corridor until he reached his wife's room. He hurried along the corridor. Reaching to throw open the door when he paused. There was little he feared. Except one beyond this very door. He did it anyway. He threw open the doors and what he saw was his wife Irisviel lying in bed with two children in her arms.

Iri was beautiful as ever, with long white hair, pale face and red eyes, but the most beautiful aspect of her that Kiritsugu loved more than anything else was her smile. A pure and angelic smile that could melt even the stony heart of the Magus Killer.

"Kiritsugu-san." his wife called him.

He approached them giving them an illegible look before turning to the window watching the snow fall.

"They are so small, so tender and graceful, I am so happy they were born. They have both of your eyes." she said softly.

He listened silently.

"Certainly it was a little unexpected that twins were born, boy and girl, originally we predicted that only a daughter was to be born but I think fate has been generous to us by giving us an extra baby to love." she declared cheerfully.

True, the old Jubstacheit von Einzbern had ensured that a daughter was born through alchemy, and although they had succeeded, they had not foreseen that Irisviel was more fertile than expected and unexpectedly a son was also born.

They were all a little surprised but no one was really worried, let alone the old man Act. As long as one of the two children was born a girl everything was in the plan so that the girl could succeed Iri. In case the latter fails.

The thought sent a flash of anger to the Magus Killer, his wife and his daughter were considered tools in the eyes of those cursed Einzbern. He had learned to tolerate the amoral attitude of the magus, however this was his family and he would not tolerate it.

The only reason they were treated with decency was because the Einzberns desperately needed him and his wife for their abilities right now.

Furthermore, he had managed to ensure that they were treated with respect and that their children would have a different upbringing than that of a typical magus, at least in their childhood, but only if he and his wife fulfilled their mission.

This thought depressed him again.

"Come Kiritsugu. Take your children in your arms." Irisviel invited him.

"Iri. I'll cause your death one day." he said sadly.

She continued to smile even though she was aware of her future.

"I know dear. But you don't have to feel sorry for me, I'm already a part of you now." she said calmly and confidently.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to either of them, someone else was listening to their conversation.

The two children in the woman's arms both had white hair and red eyes like the mother and both, above all, the boy had inherited some oriental traits from their father. The girl slept silently while the boy had his eyes open and was very perceptive of the world around him and asked himself questions.

Where I am? What place is this?

He didn't remember what exactly had happened, the last thing he remembered was that he had died somehow, but nothing else. He didn't remember how he died or when, he could only try to remember the latest events in his life.

Academy City. Last Order. Operation Handcuffs. Anna Sprengel.

He remembered up to that point after which it was only dark.

This child was Accelerator, Academy City's most powerful and feared level 5 esper, keeper of a small clone named Last Order, and the new Chairman of the Board following the death of his predecessor Aleister Crowley.

If I'm dead, then where am I? Is this the afterlife? Considering all the crap I've done, hell should've been waiting for me.

Accelerator was not religious at all despite being well aware of the supernatural from both the magical and scientific side of the world and not believing in the afterlife, he often thought about what punishment he could receive after death due to all the sins he committed and the consequent guilt. All the lives he had taken. The 10,000 sisters, the victims of the failed handcuffs operation and many others.

For all those deaths he thought he deserved hell. Yet now he was here in a completely unknown place.

He felt his weak body barely moving, it wasn't particularly uncomfortable, but the inability to move freely was considered annoying.

So he concentrated on making his hearing and vision work better, which for some reason were slightly blurred. The first thing he noticed was that there were other people around him.

The first was a white-haired, red-eyed woman he was very close to and the other was a black-haired man.

He listened to their conversation for a minute, and it took little more than a moment to come to a conclusion about his current situation.

He was a child.

He died and reincarnated.

And these two people, this man and this woman were his parents.

Parents.

The thought of having parents was so strange, so alien, that Accelerator could barely conceive of it.

The only parental figures he ever had were Yomikawa and Yoshikawa, who served as surrogate mother figures.

But here, now, he really had two real parental figures. A father and a mother and he was now a baby in his mother's arms.

Then his gaze shifted to the side thinking of the couple's words.

There in the other arm of the woman (her mother, the thought was still strange) was another bundle, a white-haired child of the same height. That child, his twin, his sister.

I have a sister.

He had always been without family and blood relatives, yet here was his twin sister only inches from him. A sister to whom he unconsciously felt a bond forming that he had never felt before.

It was all so absurd, a reincarnation, a family, how all this had happened.

His brain worked out a possible theory, but none of them seemed plausible. Was this a second chance? A new opportunity for him to start over. Would he deserve it after all he's done?

He went back to listening to their conversation, the man had said in a sad tone that he would have caused the death of his wife and the latter calmly told her to be aware of it and not to worry. What the hell are the two talking about? It certainly wasn't the kind of dialogue a married couple would have! What was his father planning to say such a thing?

"This is our desire of the Einzbern and it is the real reason why I exist. I am who I am now because I learned your ideals and I took your prayers to heart, you guided me and you gave me a life that a simple puppet would never have. " said the white-haired woman.

The child's stomach began to sink at the mention of the word "puppet" reminding him of a dark past.

"I ... I have no right ... to hold those children in my arms." the man said in a painful tone.

"Kiritsugu, don't forget. A world where no one has to cry like that anymore, wasn't this your ideal, ... your dream? Another eight years and your fight will end. Your dream will come true and the Holy Grail will perform this miracle. "

Such words attracted attention of Accelerator, at first the conversation seemed worrying but now it was different, his parents were talking about bringing peace to the world? How? Did they talk about the miracle and the Holy Grail? Was he reborn into some kind of magicians family? It seemed plausible.

Also judging by their intentions, they wanted to do good, he heard them speak and they seemed sincere in their intentions, even his father somehow seemed genuinely saddened by whatever might happen and it proved that he was not a numb man.

It seems that these are really good people after all. Thought the former esper with a mental sigh.

"So take these babies, hold them and be proud like any father would." she finishes her speech by handing the two bundles to her husband.

At first impassive Kiritsugu turned, walked towards his wife with his children and took both twins in his arms.

They were beautiful. This was Emiya Kiritsugu's first thought. Iri had given him two splendid children and that filled him with joy.

The little girl had her eyes half closed asleep while the child had his eyes wide open and he was looking at him as if he were scrutinizing him.

He was a little weird, but he quickly ignored that thought and looked at his children with warmth.

Meanwhile, Accelerator was finally looking his new father in the eye. The first thing he noticed was a hollow, semi-serious look in his eyes, it was a kind of look he had seen numerous times in the dark side of academy city.

The look of a murderer. The kind of weary killer who regretted the kind of life he had lived.

The child mentally laughed at the irony.

Of course, only a killer could be my father.

"Have you already chosen a name for both of them?" Kiritsugu asked her.

"I named our daughter Illyasviel, Illyasviel von Einzbern. As for our son, I would like you to choose the name." Irisviel explained.

"Illyasviel, a beautiful name. As for the boy ..." thought her father.

The child mentally snorted, he didn't need a name. His name was ... but then he thought about it again. He had no real name, Accelerator was just his title as the strongest esper (and he didn't even know if he still had his powers), his real name he had forgotten many years ago and he hadn't even made a commitment to know which one it was or to know what his past was in general.

It was practically a blank slate.

Maybe this could be a chance to ...

"Homura." his father said solemnly. "His name will be Homura von Einzbern."

Homura.

This was now his name.

This was really a chance to start over.

Kiritsugu sat down on the bed and approached his wife, lightly offering her children.

"Homura, a really nice name." Iri said.

The woman leaned forward, looking tenderly at the two children.

"Homura, Illyasviel, welcome to this world. From now on we will be a family." the woman leaned forward and together with her husband gently embraced the two children.

Accelerator had always been an individual shrouded in darkness, with a past steeped in blood and darkness. Every night he woke up following macabre nightmares and was always full of demons that haunted his soul.

Yet at that precise moment he felt the darkness dissipate. Every weight of his soul vanished and for an instant peace was in his heart.

He didn't know if it was his parents' actions or words, especially his mother, but now he felt different.

He could feel the warmth of their embrace and feel their feelings for him and his sister.

Right, so this is what it feels like.

It was an emotion that all humans experience at least once in their life. And for the first time in his memory the renamed Homura tried.

A warmth of pleasure enveloped his heart. The child closed his eyes and basked in that feeling. He could be locked in his emotions, but for once he opened up fully accepting the feeling that he had never been given before.

The love of a mother and a father.

A/N: I have grown very fond of the name Homura and intend to make it a constant in my stories. Always calling Accelerator by his title, a makeshift name or a diminutive of his title seemed a little sloppy.

The worlds and characters of the Toaruverse and the Nasuverse have many characteristics in common but also differences, with the main difference being that much darker themes are presented in the Nasuverse.

Premise: This history will be about more than just the Holy Grail War. It will talk about Accelerator / Homura's life and adventures in this new world.

For those wondering if our protagonist will keep his old powers, let's say the answer will be given as the story continues.

Thanks for reading.
