Allure Beldam, D1 Female

Nobody else would stand a chance. Obviously I had the skills to win, and look good, no, fabulous, doing it. My bow skills were definitely going to give me the range advantage, the other careers would surely be too dense to realize why archery wasn't weak, but smart. Shooting your enemy before they got close was the way to win, for sure. That is, for those who couldn't handle fighting up close. I could do both. And I could do it all while looking more fabulous than the top models of Panem. They had to work so hard for their beauty, while I was naturally flawless. Well, I've had a bit of work done but really they were more of enhancements. My eyes really were already a bit purple I'm sure. They just weren't as bright. Maybe they were indigo. Whatever. I was hot.

Blech. Hangovers sucked. I knew I needed to stop drinking, but I couldn't. Every party had alcohol, and I was at every party. I couldn't really not drink. OK, I could, but it was hard. Addiction was a brutal thing. I was well aware of the change that needed to happen but I couldn't commit. It wasn't like I had to be ready for a long period of time where I would be without alcohol and I needed to get used to not having it. Man, the arena was gonna suck. But afterwards would be the best party ever! The Capitol probably had alcohol substitutes. Actually, why bother? I could drink all I wanted afterwards. They wouldn't let a victor waste away, would they?

Nailah Nebit, D2 Female

I twisted my ring around my finger nervously. I breathed deeply. Box breathing. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4, breathe out for 4, and wait for 4. I was waiting to enter the simulation. That's how volunteers were picked. The top picks entered a mock arena together with fake weapons. The winner got to volunteer. Usually it was safe, but there had been 'accidents.' I planned to grab a bow and run, and pick off the threats. It might work, but it might not. They sent us to our doors. We didn't have tubes, so we just waited behind doors. It was pretty funny. The gong sounded. I was panicking inside, but the breathing helped. I was fast. I wasn't the first in, but I also wasn't considered a threat. I didn't use a 'real' weapon. Well, now I had a bow. And I was gonna win.

Nero Inculta, D2 Male

I had been in the mock arena for 5 hours now. There had been 19 people at the start. Now there were 3. I didn't understand how this simulated the real games, when it was so clearly different, with everyone being a fighter. I had led a group of four, but each had been picked off. I myself had 'killed' twice so far. The girls went yesterday, and Nailah dominated. Everyone was shocked. I didn't get why. She had a bow. Why was that weak and cowardly, but the throwing knives I used were epic? A cannon fired, meaning one person stood between me and the games. I saw him before he saw me. He was probably 7 feet tall. Massive muscles. He was very intimidating. He was also lucky it wasn't a real knife that hit his throat. Either way, he lost.

Here are the pairs from 1 and 2. That is all.
