Roux was not having a good day. Being an orphan raised in the slums of Orario, most of your days are going to be bad days. However his family tried, his fellow orphans and Maria all worked to try making each day of their childhood an amazing one. Despite their poverty, lack of money, dead parents and big sis Syr's bad cooking, Roux was able to enjoy his life.

But of course, life was never easy. A monster outbreak had occurred. From what he could gather, some Evilus remnants were smuggling monsters but then got killed by an Irregular Lv.7 Minotaur who freed his fellow monsters who're hiding out in Orario.

It was incredibly scary to the 9 year old and to the fellow orphans. It took ages to get some of them to sleep with poor Maria having to reassure them that monsters weren't going to come eat them in their sleep.

To add salt to the wound, big bro Bell betrayed Orario. Their admiration of Little Rookie shattered when they heard he had put his own greed over slaying a monster. Which caused several causalities, civilian and adventurers injured. Not to mention the several houses destroyed along the way.

But it couldn't possibly get any worse, there was no way it could be worse than this.

Then he got lost.

Completely throwing caution out of the wind, Roux raced back to Daedelus street to retrieve his cat. He was able to find Noir eating a rotten fish from a trashcan. He had grabbed the black cat and ran back to his group…then he encountered a problem. He was on Daedelus street, the same street that was infamous for getting lost in. Roux had completely lost track of his direction and was lost.

"Dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit."

Roux shivered in fear. The cold breeze acted like knives against his skin. He gripped his cat harder. His warm fur acting as a lifeline.

Why did he have to get lost?

Why did monsters have to be released?

Why did they have to lose Bell?

Why does this misfortune have to keep happening?

It seemed like his whole life was going be hardship after hardship. No parents, no money, no nothing. Even his fellow 'Elves' had turned their back on him went they discovered he was a Half Elf. Now he was either going to die for the cold or get eaten by a monster-

"""ROUX!"""

Hope filled Roux's heart. He knew those voices. It was Maria, Ryne and Fina. Now everything would be okay-

BOOM

A shadow fell over Roux and his hope vanished. A shockwave had blown off a portion of a building and the bricks were all about to collapse onto the boy.

He was going to die. The Grimm Reaper was going to smash his body into paste. He would die before the age of 10. Never getting the chance to be an adult, never getting a chance to chase his dreams and never knowing if he'll ever get adopted.

Suddenly a blue bur had appeared, a red gem sparkled. Roux felt warm hands push him down. Wings had covered him like a shield.

CRASH

The bricks smashed against the wings like rain against an umbrella. In Roux's mind he saw the Reaper's scythe shatter like glass. He was safe, he was saved.

Roux then realized three things:

1) His saviour was a girl, a very pretty one.

2) His saviour was a monster

It was not a Dwarf, Elf, Human, Beastman or Pallum that shielded him with their body. It was a monster that saved him. A monster with claws, wings scales and a glowing red gem on her forehead.

3) He didn't feel any disgust

From his elven heritage, a racial trait that made him feel disgusted by anyone touching him, that wasn't family or people he was close to. Roux only felt comfortable with Rye, Fina, Maria, Syr and Bell touching him. His saviour was just added to the list.

Roux's heart beat.

"What is this feeling?"

Roux felt his heart like it could explode and fall into pieces any second. His cheeks blushed as he gazed upon her sparkling amber eyes. An unknown emotion was blooming-no, erupting within him.

Roux soul was gone, it was hers.

Unfortunately the moment was interrupted by an arrow bouncing off her wings. A misunderstanding, they must have thought that the monster girl was trying to kill him but the bricks landed on her by chance. The girl fled and his family came to his unneeded rescue. He watched as she fled, hoping that she escaped.

"I hope I can meet her again someday."

The wish rested in his heart, a wish that would unable to be accomplished by his current self. A wish that would be crystallized for years to come. But for now he could do his best and clear the misunderstanding.

"Big brother was right all along."

Fors Occursus (Long Chant)

A boy lost in an endless labyrinth

The Grimm reaper swings

A winged saviour clad in black breaks the fated end

A saviour, born from Heaven's enemy

A saviour, awarded with scorn

The boy prays,

Bless this crying child with the wings of fate

Ride on destinies wind

Unite the boy and the saviour

Bell started at the status sheet of their newest member. More specifically at the Skills section.

"Oh."

"Oh?" Hestia sneered "Is that all you have to say?"

The Goddess of Hearth sat right across from him. They're in her soundproof office. The 19 year old Captain was dragged up here by Hestia for an emergency meeting only to have Roux's status sheet shoved into his face.

"Well what am I supposed to say?"

It's like he was against more people developing Liaris Freese. In fact it would have made Dungeon crawling a lot easier if he had more people that could match his ridiculous strength. So far only Aiz's could keep up with him and she needed her Spirit hacks.

"Confess."

"Con...fess?"

Hestia crossed her arms "You see Bell, I know what's going on-"

Bell resisted an easy retort. The sooner he could find out why Hestia is acting like a wife exposing her husband's affairs the better.

"It's extremely rare for skills to develop however it's not uncommon for similar skills to develop-"

Yeah he knew. Eina already shoved an entire library of skill theories into his brain.

"-but the easiest way to copy someone's skills is to inherit it from a blood relative..."

Bell waited in baited breath.

"...in other words a child could inherit the skills that their parents have. Like a son having their father's skills."

Where on Genki is Hestia going with this?

"Roux is a Half Elf with blond hair and blue eyes."

Bell nodded.

"And I've noticed that you've often been hanging out with Ryuu. Who just so happens be a full blooded Elf with blonde hair and blue eyes-"

Bell groaned. It turned out that his Goddess didn't know kindergarten level math.

"Roux is your love child with Ryuu! Admit it! All the evidence is there! You've been having a fling behind everyone's backs and-"

Bell drowned out the rest of Hestia' gibberish. His attention was on Roux. He'd known the boy had been eager to become an Adventurer after he'd inspired the orphan children through his battle with Asterius. Rye and Fina had a headstart since they're older and Maria was more comfortable letting them go to chase their dreams. When he finally turned 14, the Half-Elf had sprinted out of Maria's orphanage and knocked onto the Hestia Manor so hard he nearly brought the gates down. Thanks to Liaris Freese he'd quickly be able to catch up to his friends and even surpass them.

But who was Liaris Freese's target? Liaris Freese had to be manifested through true love and from his magic it seemed Roux had gotten saved by a girl a long time ago. When did Roux get saved?

Bell frowned, trying to remember all the times Roux's life was at risk. It was fortunately small. There was the time the One Eye Black Dragon had appeared to destroy Orario. However that wouldn't have counted for a bajillion different reasons otherwise everyone in Orario would have developed Liaris Freese. Then there was the other time during the Xeno Incident where he got lost and a building nearly fell onto him and he was saved by Wiene-

Suddenly, everything clicked in Bell's mind.

Roux was saved by Wiene,

Roux developed Liaris Freese because he was saved by Wiene,

Roux was in love with his daughter.

A surge of fatherly instinct erupted, Roux's dream of meeting Wiene would be answered. He just had to go through the Last Hero first to achieve it.

I was reading Volume 11 and thought "Hey wouldn't it be pretty funny if Roux got Liaris Freese after getting saved by Wiene haha" which lead me too procrastinating until I got the flu and had time to write this.

Roux's Fairy Heart skill is implied to be the racial skill that elves have. So far in all Elf statuses shown, each one of them has a Fairy [Insert Word] Skill. Ryuu has Fairy Serenade while Lefiya has Fairy Cannon.

Fors Occursus is the latin words of 'Chance Encounter' translated on google translate.
