As the other parishioners walked away from the gravesite, Matt didn't move.
"I'll catch up with you," Foggy murmured to Marci. She nodded in understand and, after a quick glance at Matt, fell into step next to Karen.
"How you holding up?" Foggy asked his best friend.
"Honestly?" Matt said, "I don't know."
Foggy rested his hand on Matt's shoulder and gave a comforting squeeze.
"I'm sorry man," he said softly, "I know how close you guys were."
"He helped raise me," Matt said, voice thick, "And these past years, he's helped me find a balance between both sides of my life… After Midland Circle…"
"I'm glad he was there for you when you needed someone," Foggy told him honestly. "When you were a kid and as Daredevil."
"Our last conversation…" Matt trailed off. He took his glasses off and wiped his eyes.
"Foggy…" Matt all but whimpered, "I was so mad. I'd just found out about Maggie… found out he knew all along and never said anything. I confronted him. He tried to explain, but I was so awful to him."
"Matt, he knew how much you cared about him," Foggy assured him, "One little fight, no matter what was said, would never change that. I didn't know him like you did buddy, but I know he was so proud of you."
Matt didn't bother to wipe away the tears this time. He reached his hand out and Foggy took it, wrapping his other arm around Matt's shoulders.
"You're a good man Matthew Murdock," Foggy said firmly, "And Father Lantom knew it. He knew it and nothing you said or did would change that. He loved you Matty."
Matt nodded, sobbing openly as he clung to Foggy's jacket.
"I don't know what to do now Fog," he admitted.
"We remember," Foggy said, "We remember Father Lantom and we remember all the good he did and the good memories you guys had. Forget the bad, forget the fight. Focus on the positives. And let's go back to my place and raise a toast in honour of a great man."
Matt nodded, wiping his face.
"Thanks, Foggy," he said, replacing his glasses.
"I'm here for you Matty," he said gently, "No matter what."
Matt took Foggy's elbow and allowed his friend to guide him through the cemetery and over to the car where Karen and Foggy were waiting.
