Episode 1: Pokémon I Choose You!
I have been thinking about redoing the story of Sora being a Pokémon Trainer for a long time (and no, it's not because of the negative reviews, just been thinking about it), but I figured I make the beginning of the story a tad different. You would have to see it for yourself as we go on. Also, I plan on including the Keyblade, the Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed early on, and I won't be including any characters from different video games, cartoons, or anime, with the exception of the human characters of Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Bakugan. Also, characters of Final Fantasy will appear as well. Enjoy!
Welcome. We have a look in a world of human beings. But they're not the only ones that inhabits the world. Also inhabiting the world are creatures with extraordinary powers, and traits. The creatures are known as Pokémon. Currently, there are 1025 known Pokémon, but the numbers will soon be going up, when and how, we do not know, but they lived with people for such a long time.
Our story begins with our hero, Sora Ketchum. Sora had recently turned ten years old and he dreams of being the greatest Pokémon trainer in the world. Sora lives with his mother, Delia Ketchum. With her is her trusty Mr. Mime, Mimey, and his twin sister Karen. Sora has a strong resemblance to his father, Kaito Ketchum, but unfortunately, neither Sora nor Karen have ever known their father, because he has died when Delia was six months pregnant with the twins. Sora was given the necklace he has worn like his father before him, and his father before him. Despite it all, Sora and Karen lived happily with their mother in the town of their birth. But Sora did dream of being a Pokémon Trainer one day, and he would see the world, and the Pokémon that lived in it. And tomorrow was going make it so. Sora got changed into his white and black jacket as well as a red jumpsuit and a pair of white with yellow gloves with his crown necklace and crown chain He slipped on his large yellow shoes. It was nighttime in his hometown Pallet Town. Sora is so excited about beginning his Pokémon journey that he couldn't sleep.
He was watching two Pokémon fighting each other on his TV. One of them is a light-purple, quadrupedal mammalian Pokémon. It has several darker purple patches across its body. It has large, spiny ears with teal insides, narrow black eyes, and a long snout with two pointed teeth protruding from the upper jaw. It has a ridge of toxic spines on its back and a long pointed horn on its forehead. Its short legs have three claws on each foot. This Pokémon is known as Nidorino.
The other is a dark purple, bipedal Pokémon with a roundish body. It has red eyes, a wide mouth that is usually curled into a sinister grin, and pointed ears. On its back are numerous spikes and it has smaller spikes on top of its head similar to tufty fur. Its arms and legs are short with three digits on both its hands and feet. It also has a stubby tail. This Pokémon is Gengar.
Nidorino charges right at Gengar, but dodges with ease.
They were fighting in a stadium with thousands of spectators cheering hard as the battle rages on.
"Nidorino starts the battle with a Horn Attack!" The announcer announced. "Oh, but Gengar bounces right back!" Gengar's red eyes start glowing blue as Nidorino starts to fall right to sleep. "And Gengar fires its Hypnosis, making Nidorino fall right to sleep! This could be all over for Nidorino!" A red beam hits Nidorino as the Pokémon is turned into a red energy and flows back into a red and white ball with a button in the middle and separate with a bluish-black line held by a man with black hair a red vested shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap. "The Trainer calls back Nidorino! What other Pokémon is he sending out next?!" The man puts the ball he's holding away while he pulls out another one. He throws the ball onto the battlefield. A flash of white energy and out came a Pokémon composed of a giant chain of gray boulders that become smaller towards the tail. It has black eyes and a rounded snout. On top of its head is a rocky spine. "And it's Onix!" Onix roars as it enters the arena. The giant Pokémon slams its head but Gengar dodges the attack. "And Gengar dodges again! This Pokémon is moving beautifully in this battle! Its training has paid off!"
Since his tenth birthday, Sora has been preparing to get his Pokémon license. In the Kanto Region, Trainers at a certain age can head down to Professor Oak's lab to pick up their very first Pokémon. In his room, Sora has many Pokémon products, including a poster with three beginning Pokémon one being Bulbasaur, a Grass-type Pokémon. Bulbasaur is a small, quadrupedal amphibian Pokémon that has blue-green skin with darker patches. It has red eyes with white pupils, pointed, ear-like structures on top of its head, and a short, blunt snout with a wide mouth. A pair of small, pointed teeth are visible in the upper jaw when its mouth is open. Each of its thick legs ends with three sharp claws. On Bulbasaur's back is a green plant bulb. Charmander, a Fire-type is a bipedal, reptilian Pokémon with a primarily orange body and blue eyes. Its underside from the chest down and the soles of its feet are cream-colored. It has two small fangs visible in its upper jaw and two smaller fangs in its lower jaw, and an ember at the end of the tail. And the third is Squirtle, a Water-type. Squirtle is a small reptilian Pokémon that resembles a light-blue turtle. While it typically walks on its two short legs. It has large, purplish or reddish eyes and a slightly hooked upper lip. Each of its hands and feet have three pointed digits. The end of its long, squirrel-like tail curls inward. Its body is encased by a tough shell. This shell is brown on the top, pale yellow on the bottom, and has a thick white ridge between the two halves.
"Yes, I am ready. Tomorrow morning, I will no longer be Sora. I will be Sora Ketchum, the Pokémon Trainer! I'm going to set off and see the world of Pokémon, and catch as many Pokémon as I can," Sora said. "Yeah! A Pokémon Trainer! That's me!" Sora took a toy Pokéball and held it firmly in his hand. "Can't wait to get started!"
"SORA! GET TO BED!" A woman's voice called. Sora dropped the pose as he accidentally threw the Pokéball. It flies into the hands of Sora's mother, Delia Ketchum she has amber eyes wearing yellow shirt, a pink vest, a long purple skirt and her mahogany hair tied in a ponytail. The ball opens to reveal that it's a clock. She gives him an angry look "It's 11:00! And you should be asleep!"
"But, mom, how can I sleep if I have to go on my Pokémon journey tomorrow?" Sora reasoned. Delia sighed as she grabbed the remote control.
"Well, if you can't sleep, you should get ready for tomorrow; here watch this," Delia said.
Appearing on the screen is a middle-aged man with peach skin, gray hair, and thick, bushy eyebrows. He wore a white lab coat, a light maroon polo shirt, a brown belt and beige pants, and matching brown loafers. He also wore blue boxers.
"Good evening, Pallet Town. Welcome to the world of Pokémon! To those who do not know me, my name is Oak! People call me the Pokémon Professor! This world is inhabited by creatures we called Pokémon! For some people, Pokémon are pets. Others use them for fights. Myself… I study Pokémon as a profession," Professor Oak said as Sora watched on.
"Go to bed when this is over," Delia told him.
"Okay," Sora said still looking at the TV. "Right to bed."
"And change into your pajamas, okay?" Delia added before she closed the door. She went off into her bedroom to get some sleep as well. "Honestly," Delia said to herself. "Sora can be so careless sometimes. But he's a good boy." She saw the door to Karen's opened ajar, and the light was still on. Delia stepped in. Karen has a strong resemblance to Delia. She wore a white blouse with a pair of jean shorts. She wore green sneakers, white socks. She could tell Karen was down "Karen, honey? What's the matter?"
"Nothing," Karen said sadly. Delia wasn't buying it one bit.
"No secrets, dear. Tell your mother the truth right now," Delia said. Karen sighed sadly.
"It's just, I don't want Sora to go," Karen said.
"Dear, we have been over this, Sora has made up his mind," Delia said.
"I know, but I'm going to miss him," Karen said. Tears trails from her eyes. Delia knew as long as Karen and Sora can remember, they have never been apart even once. They were really inseparable.
"I know, I'm going to miss him, too, but you have to remember he's going to be back," Delia said. This made Karen feel better a little.
"I guess you're right," Karen said.
"Dry those tears and change into your pajamas. You should be asleep," Delia said.
"Okay," Karen said, hugging her mother. She hugged her back.
Sora has changed into his pajamas and slept soundly. As he slept snored loudly. It didn't disturb neither his mother nor sister one bit. They have gotten used to it at some point.
We dive into Sora's dream, and we come down to what looks like composed of several enormous, illuminated stained-glass pillars known as "Stations", rising from unseen depths. It has the image of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle on the Station. He is dressed in his regular clothes. He looked around and he saw nothing familiar to him.
"What is this? Where am I?" Sora asked himself. "Mom? Karen?" He couldn't hear any of them call back.
"Sora," a voice spoke. Sora flinched when he heard it.
"Who's there?! Who said that?!" Sora exclaimed in shock.
"Do not be alarmed, Sora. You have a difficult journey ahead of you," the voice said.
"Tell me about it. I'm going to be a Pokémon Trainer starting tomorrow," Sora said, smiling.
"Yes and no," the voice said. This made Sora confused.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Sora asked.
"Step forward," the voice said. Sora did what the voice said and stepped towards the center of the Station. He saw three pillars come up. Appearing on each one of them are three objects. One is a generic short sword with a black Pokéball logo on the hilt and a blue handle. Another is a shield a simple design. It is pentagonal and its bottom three corners are rounded. It has a red border and the top and bottom two corners all sport a silver bolt or pin. Most of the face of the shield is black, save for the prominent Pokéball logo in the center. This symbol is red and has a pale yellow outline. And the third is a staff. Both its ends of the staff's handle are tan, while the handle itself is predominantly green. There is a wide, brown disk on the tip of the handle, which the head of the staff is connected to. The staff's head is a cyan Pokéball. "Power sleeps within you. Give it form... It will give you strength. Choose well." Sora looked at the three objects.
"Okay, which one to choose?" Sora asked himself. He looked at the sword. "Huh, the sword is cool." He walked up to the sword and he picked it. He had a little trouble carrying it. "Heavier than it looks."
"The power of the warrior. Invincible courage. A sword of terrible destruction. Is this the power you seek?" The voice asked.
"Yes," Sora said. A flash of light engulfs the sword and it vanishes. "Hey, where did my sword go?"
"Your path is set. What will you give up in exchange?" The voice asked. Sora looked at the three items and he looked at the staff and the shield.
"Which one will I give up?" Sora asked. Sora thought for a little while. "I guess it might as well be the staff, because I'm not exactly Harry Potter, so why not? And the shield might be useful." He walked up to the staff and picked it up.
"The power of the mystic. Inner strength. A staff of wonder and ruin. You give up this power?" The voice asked.
"Yes," Sora answered. The staff disappeared just like the sword.
"You chose the power of a warrior. You've given up the power of the mystic. Is this the form you chose?" The voice asked.
"Yeah, it is," Sora said. The pillars sinks into the Station and it shatters beneath him. He fell on to another one with another waiting for him. It is one with three birds circling a large Pokémon that resembles a dragon, a plesiosaur, and a bird. It is primarily silver-white, but it has blue undersides with slightly varying tones. It has a ridged mouth similar to a beak, although it has pointed teeth on its lower jaw. Its head has a point to the back, and its eyes have pointed blue or black spikes on them. It has a long, slender neck and a smooth, streamlined body. Dark blue or black plate-like protrusions run down the length of its back, and there are two smaller, more pointed ones on the end of its tail. It has large wings that resemble hands. This Pokémon is Lugia.
One is a large avian Pokémon with predominantly sky blue plumage and wings said to be made of ice. On its forehead is a crest that consists of three, darker blue rhombus-shaped feathers. It has circular red eyes, a short gray beak, and long, thin gray legs. Each foot has three forward-facing digits and one facing backward. On its chest is a mass of white, downy feathers. Its long, streamer-like tail is longer than its body and the same shade of blue as its crest. This one is Articuno.
Another is a large, avian Pokémon with predominantly yellow plumage. It has small, triangular eyes with black around them and a long, thin, light orange beak. Its wings and tail are a mass of spiky feathers and there are black feathers covering the back of its wings and inner tail feathers. A large crest of spiked feathers surrounds its head. Its thighs are tan, and it has thin, light orange legs. It has feet with three forward-facing toes and one backward-facing toe; each toe has a short talon. This one is Zapdos.
And the third one is a large, avian Pokémon with a light yellow plumage. It has a long, flowing head crest and a billowing tail, both made of reddish flames. Additionally, its wings are also shrouded in fiery plumage. It has a long, thin neck, a pointed, brown beak, and small, triangular eyes. Its thin, brown legs have anisodactyl feet, with three forward-facing digits and one facing backward. This one is Moltres.
Sora lands on his feet. The sword appears in his right hand.
"You have gained the power to fight. This power is to be used to protect yourself and others," the voice said.
"Protect myself and others?" Sora asked.
"There will be times you will have to fight," the voice spoke. Sora spots something not ordinary. It looked black and flat. The figure took shape. The creature has a vaguely humanoid body structure. It has a round, spherical head with circular, glowing yellow eyes. It also has two long, twisted antennae sprouting out of the top of its head. Each of its hands has three clawed fingers, and its feet are large and lack any discernible digits. With the exception of its eyes, this creature's body is completely black. Sora was shocked to see it for himself.
"What the heck is that?!" Sora exclaimed.
"Your opponent," the voice answered.
"My what?" Sora asked. The creature jumped towards him and Sora swings the sword at it. It vaporates in black smoke, but more show up. "That guy had friends." Sora took out a few more. One of them goes behind him.
"Behind you!" The voice shouted. Sora quickly turned and slained the creature behind him. The remaining creatures all vanish and they form a black vortex, taking Sora down.
"Hey, lemme go!" Sora yelped. He sinks even further down. He flails around and he sees he's just fine. He sees in on another Station. He looked down and he saw it has the image of a white, equine Pokémon with an androgynous appearance. It resembles a qilin or centaur with a gray, vertically striated underside. The striated pattern also appears on the underside of its mane, tail, and face. Its four pointed feet are tipped with gold hooves. Its long mane juts away from its head, and its face is gray, with green eyes, red pupils, and a green circular pattern below its eyes. It also has a streak of gold coloration on its head, which point upward. Its neck is fairly long, with two pairs of extrusions to the sides, and a flap-like feature on the neck's underside that is colored white like much of the body. It also has a golden cross-like wheel attached to its body by its round abdomen. The wheel also has four jewels attached to it. The pattern of striated gray of its underbelly continues past its waist. Its limbs have gray undersides and extrusions at the tops of the legs. This Pokémon is Arceus. A door appears before him and he walks towards it. He opened the door and a bright light shines in his face. He saw he's in Pallet Town. He sees three kids he knows well. "Ash, Leaf, Gary."
One boy, named Ash has spiky black hair and red eyes. He wore a red sleeveless jacket with white pockets, the jacket itself is designed to look much shorter with a black t-shirt with white sleeves underneath. He also wore blue jeans, red and white sneakers and carries a brown backpack with black straps.
(Note: he's not that Ash from the anime, and his last name is not Ketchum. Also, to those who don't know, Ash is one of the name options chosen in Pokémon Red and Yellow.)
The only girl being Leaf is a young girl with slightly messy dark brown hair that goes up to her lower back. She wore a sleeveless teal, shirt with a bit of black, a short pinkish-red skirt, cyan slouch socks, and white shoes with a pinkish-red stripe in the middle. Leaf wore a white bucket hat with a pinkish-red Pokeball logo and black wristbands much like Ash. She carries a bright yellow messenger bag.
And Gary wore a long purple shirt, dark gray pants, a yin and yang necklace, and brown boots with black straps encircling them.
"What do you want in life?" Ash asked. Sora looked at him funny.
"Ash, what are you talking about?" Sora asked.
"What do you want in life?" Ash repeated.
"Well, friends," Sora said.
"Is that such a big deal?" Ash asked.
"What are you afraid of?" Gary asked.
"To be alone," Sora said.
"Is being alone that scary?" Gary asked.
"What do you want to do with your life?" Leaf asked.
"To see the world," Sora said.
"To see the world, huh?" Leaf asked.
Ash, Gary, and Leaf all vanish into thin air.
"You want friendship. You're afraid of being alone. You want to see the world. Your journey begins soon. Are you prepared for what's next?" The voice asked.
"Yes," Sora answered. He appeared in the strange place again. This time, the Station he's on has the image of a small, cat-like Pokémon with small, pointed ears, blue eyes, a long, thin tail with a large bulge at the end, and large feet with three toes. It is covered with a layer of fine, pink hair. It has extremely short arms with three fingers on each paw, and has small, orange paw pads on the undersides of its feet. This Pokémon is Mew. Sora walks in the center of the Station as several more of the creatures appears before him. "Not you guys again!" He called out his sword. He crouched his knees and prepared to strike at them. Sora slashes through the creatures, making them dissolve. Once he was finished, a pathway appears before him. "I guess I'm supposed to go over there now." Wasting no time, Sora makes his way to the other Station.
He makes it to the Station with the image of an avian Pokémon resembling a phoenix and a peacock. Its feathers are predominantly gold and red, with yellow tail-feathers, a white underside, and green feathers at the tip of its wings. It has a green stripe on its neck, a yellow beak, black rings around its red eyes, and a feathered, yellow crest on its head. Its wings are prismatic, causing it to trail a rainbow behind it. It has darkly colored feet and legs with four toes and long talons. This Pokémon is Ho-Oh. Ho-Oh is circled by three other Pokémon.
One of them is a quadrupedal, yellow, tiger-like Pokémon with black stripes and a white underside. It has a thin, light blue tail with sharp angles and a spark-shaped formation at the end. Most of its face consists of thick, white fur and shorter yellow fur around its red eyes. Its muzzle is a light blue "X" and it has a black faceplate with two bumps that cover its forehead, nose, and ears. It has two long fangs that make its appearance similar to the saber-toothed cat. Its large claws each converge to form a single point and never retract. Extra fur hangs off its body in front of its thighs. It has a mane across its back that resembles dull purple rain clouds This Pokémon is Raikou.
Another is is a massive, leonine, quadrupedal Pokémon with some mastiff qualities. It is covered in brown fur and a long, light gray cloud of smoke running along its entire back. It has gray plates on either side of the cloud and a plate beneath the cream belly fur on its chest. It has gray paws with brown pads and black cuff-like bands on its legs. Its main faceplate is red and shaped like fins or a six-sided star. A gray plate, resembling a horseshoe mustache, covers its muzzle. It also has a yellow crest with three sloped points on its forehead and red eyes. This Pokémon is Entei.
And the third one is a slim, quadrupedal, blue, mammalian Pokémon with white, diamond-shaped markings. Its face and underside are white as well. It has a thick, purple mane that resembles the aurora borealis and two white, streamer-like tails that wave forward. It has a long, white snout. It has a large, hexagonal, cerulean blue crest on its forehead with two prongs on either side of the base. It has red eyes, a small tuft of fur under its chin, and small paws with white paw pads. This Pokémon is Suicune.
Sora walks closer to the light, shining down in the center.
"The closer you get to light, the greater your shadow becomes," the voice warned. Sora turned around and saw his shadow is much larger than he is. The shadow then starts moving, and raises up, startling Sora. He ran as the shadow was taking a form. It has taken the form of a massive, muscular, humanoid creature with black skin. Its legs are rather short and its feet are very thin and curl upward. Its arms are quite long, and it has two relatively small, twisted wings on its back. There is a large, heart-shaped hole in the creature's abdominal area, which penetrates straight through from the front to the back. Its head is covered in dozens of twisted, black tentacles. Only its small, glowing yellow eyes are visible. He backed up slowly before he ran towards the edge and he almost fell over.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Sora said, keeping his balance. He turned and he took out his sword. "Looks like I'm gonna have to take this guy out." Sora came at the creature, and swung his sword. The creature swings its right arm back, and punches the ground, summoning the creatures Sora was fighting earlier. "These things are getting under my skin! Come and get it!" Sora came at the creatures and slashed through them. Once they were dealt with, he sets his attention back at the larger creature, firing bursts of energy from its chest. Sora ran to dodge the attack. "It's gotta have a weak spot!" Sora swung his sword, hitting the creature in the arm. The creature came down and Sora slashed it in the face. The creature tried to crush him, but Sora dodges and the sword vanishes. "Come on, don't disappear on me when I need you!" Darkness consumes the Station, but Sora had nowhere to escape.
"But don't be afraid," the voice said. "You hold the mightiest weapon of all."
"And will that get me out of here?!" Sora exclaimed. He screamed as the darkness started to swallow him.
He then gets vacuumed in the face by a bipedal, humanoid Pokémon. Blue growths resembling clown hair extend from the sides of its pale pink head, and there is a magenta circle on each cheek. Its jaw is curved inward, resembling the mouth of a wooden dummy. It has a round, white body with a magenta spot in the middle, light pink arms and legs that connect to its body via magenta spheres, and small white coverings over its knees. Its white hands resemble gloves with magenta pads on the tips of its white fingers and its dark blue feet curl upward at the tips. It turns out to he Delia's Mr. Mime, Mimey.
"Mr. Mime," Mimey said.
"Mimey, why do you keep doing that?!" Sora exclaimed.
"Mime, Mr. Mime," Mimey said. Sora had a sour look on his face. He then flinched when he made a sudden realization.
"Wait, what time is it?!" Sora asked. He turned to see the clock is shattered. "AAAHHHH! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?! CRAP! I OVERSLEPT!"
"Mime!" Mimey said, holding out his clothes. Sora got dresses as much as he could. The only thing he was getting on was his shoes, so he hopped on one foot to get to the lab in time.
"Gotta get there, gotta get there! I just gotta get there!" Sora said. Sora then ran as fast as his feet can carry him.
Stepping out of the lab, there are Ash, Gary, and Leaf, and each one of them have chosen their starter Pokémon. Sora managed to get there and he panted. Gary just smugly grinned.
"Well, lookie here, it's Sora," Gary teased.
"Lay off, Gary," Ash told Gary.
"Why should I? Besides, he should've been here a whole lot sooner," Gary said.
"Why do you have to be like this, Gary?" Leaf asked.
"Here to get my Pokémon from the professor," Sora said.
"Well, I have one, and you don't," Gary teased.
"Gary, don't gloat," Ash said.
"Yeah, you leave him alone," Leaf said.
"Gary, Ash, Leaf, you each have your own Pokémon already?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, we did. Sorry, Sora," Leaf said.
"Leaf and I came by your house earlier, but your mom said you were still asleep," Ash said.
"Man, that must be why Mimey woke me up like that," Sora said under his breath. Just then, a red sedan pulls up as six cheerleaders all stood up as it stopped.
"Gary! Gary! He's our man! If he can't do it, no one can! Yeah!" The cheerleaders chanted as Sora rushed through the crowd.
"Thank you, thank you!" Gary said. "And now to embark on the journey of the Pokémon Trainer!" Gary said. "Smell ya later, losers!" Gary then laughed.
"Man, why does that Gary have to be such a snob?" Sora asked in an irritated tone.
"Don't let him get to you, Sora. He's not worth it," Ash said. "But the professor said he has one left for you. He wanted us to tell you personally in case you came late." Sora looked at Ash.
"Really?" Sora asked.
"He does. He's waiting for you right now," Leaf said. With that said, Sora went up to Professor Oak's door and he knocked. Professor Oak then answered.
"Ah, Sora, good of you to come. I trust Gary and the others gave you my message?" Professor Oak asked.
"Ash and Leaf did. They told me that you have just one more Pokémon to give out, right?" Sora asked.
"Yes, I do, but I have been having such difficulty taming it. I only caught it just a few days ago," Professor Oak said. "But I doubt you can be able to handle it."
"I'll take it, Professor. I don't want to go empty handed," Sora said.
"If you insist. Come inside and I'll introduce you to your new partner," Professor Oak said. Once they stepped inside, Professor Oak took one more look at Sora. "Now, Sora, I will ask, are you sure you won't change your mind?"
"No, professor. I want to get started really bad," Sora said.
"I thought as much," Professor Oak said, taking out a Pokéball with a bolt of lightning engraved on it. He opened the Pokéball and out came a short, chubby rodent Pokémon. It is covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It has a small mouth, long, pointed ears with black tips, and brown eyes. Each cheek is a red circle that contains a pouch for electricity storage. It has short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and its feet each have three toes. At the base of its lightning bolt-shaped tail is a patch of brown fur.
"Pikachu," the Pokémon said.
"This is Pikachu," Professor Oak said.
"Pikachu," Sora said. He picked up the Pokémon in his arms. "So cool, and so cute."
"Don't say that I didn't warn you," Professor Oak plainly said.
"Hiya, Pikachu!" Sora greeted, picking the yellow Pokémon up. "We're going to be the best of friends."
"Pika," Pikachu growled as Sora hugged Pikachu before it shocked him.
"Pikachu has been classified as the Mouse Pokémon, and it's an Electric-type," Professor Oak explained.
"Well that's pretty shocking," Sora said.
"Indeed," Professor Oak agreed. He took out five Pokéballs and a small, red device. "And take these with you. The Pokéballs will be used to catch any Pokémon you come across, the Pokédex will pick up any data on any Pokémon you point it at. Sora took the Pokéballs and Pokédex. "And take this as well." Professor Oak took out a small device.
"What's this thing?" Sora asked.
"It's known as a Pokémon Box. The limit of Pokémon you can carry is six at a time. When you exceed the six Pokémon limit, it will ask you if you want to keep the extra Pokémon you have just caught in exchange for one of the Pokémon you wish to send or send it directly to my lab," Professor Oak explained. Sora took the Pokémon Box and he smiled.
"This thing will really come in handy," Sora said, taking it.
Sora came outside to see his mother, sister, and neighbors cheering for him.
"Hi, Sora," Karen greeted.
"Oh Sora," Delia said in tears. "I'm so proud of you. You are finally going to fulfill your dream and start your Pokémon training. I am going to miss you so much," Delia said, wiping her tears, "Oh my little boy!" Pikachu walked to his side looking around at the the humans outside. Delia unzips his backpack and pulled out it's contents. "I've packed your shoes, your jacket, and jumpsuit, along with some shirts and underwear. I also packed your favorite snacks and some hot chocolate, in case you want something hot, but be careful not to burn yourself. And I have packed some clotheslines to do your laundry and some rubber gloves-" her sentence was cut off when Sora quickly grabbed the back from her.
"Mom, please!" Sora blushed. "I'm old enough to take care of myself. Besides, you're embarrassing me in front of everyone here." This made Karen chuckle.
"I understand," Delia said. Delia looked down and spotted Pikachu next to him. "That's your Pokémon?"
"Pikachu," Pikachu chirped.
"Oh, how cute," Karen cooed.
"Yeah," Sora simply said. "Pikachu is my Pokémon."
"Pi," Pikachu said, turning away.
Sora frowned at Pikachu's disrespect towards him unsure how to figure it out. But, he remained confident. "But with Pikachu by my side, I can get every kind of Pokémon there is!"
"But I thought all Pokémon stayed in their Pokéballs," Delia pointed out. "Why doesn't this one?"
"Uh, oh yeah," Sora realized that his mom was right. Sora pulled Pikachu's Pokéball, "Okay, Pikachu, time to go inside."
Sora lightly threw the Pokéball only to block it with its tail.
"Pi," Pikachu said.
Sora tried and tried but Pikachu just blocked the Pokéball everytime. Sora started to become frustrated that Pikachu just refused to be confined.
"Oh you're playing catch," Delia beamed. "You two are friends already!"
"Uh, yeah friends," Sora said. He picked up Pikachu once again much to the yellow Pokémon's dismay. "Pikachu and and I real pals! Right, buddy?"
"But it's a little weird," Delia said nervously.
"What do you mean weird?" Sora asked before he looked at Pikachu giving an evil grin, "Uh oh..." Sora said before it shocked everyone, except for the Pokémon Professor around them. Everyone started screaming as the electricity runs it's course.
"The rubber clothes your mother has packed will be very useful," Professor Oak pointed out.
"WHY'S THAT?!" Sora yelled, being shocked.
"Because rubber can block electricity," he answered. "So, that should be very useful when dealing especially with Electric-types."
"THAT'S GOOD TO KNOW!" Sora yelled. Pikachu stopped pshocking everyone, and the people, but Sora fell on their backs.
"And be sure to change your underwear every single day," Delia said, dazed.
"Okay, mom," Sora, said also dazed.
"Pikachu," Pikachu chuckled.
"And don't forget about us, either," Karen added, also dazed.
"Sure thing, sis," Sora said.
About an hour later, Sora had gotten himself cleaned up. The spiky-headed Pokémon Trainer starts his journey, but he's dragging the stubborn Pokémon with the clothesline that his mother packed and wearing the rubber gloves, taking the professor's advice.
Sora stopped as sighed. He turns to Pikachu's side and bent down to knee level to hear his Pokémon out.
"Pikachu, are you going to be like this the whole time we're together?" Sora asked.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said as it turned away and away nodded.
"And why's that? Is it because you don't like me?" Sora asked.
"Pika Pika," Pikachu nodded again.
"Oh, but I like you," Sora said. "I like you a lot. So what do you say that you try to be nicer to me and open your mouth and tell me what's wrong?"
Pikachu turned and literally does that, "CHA!"
"I didn't mean literally," Sora groaned. "Well, you're a Pokémon, after all," Sora said. "But like all Pokémon you should stay inside your Pokéball. It says so in the Pokédex." Sora pulled out his Pokédex to prove his point. "When being trained, a Pokémon usually stays inside it's Pokéball," Sora read. "See?"
"Pika!" Pikachu shook its head.
"But there are exceptions?" Sora read more, "Some Pokémon don't like to be contained?" Sora sighed as he knew he lost the very first argument. "Okay, Pikachu, this'll make things better," Sora said as he untied his partner and removed the rubber clothes in order to gain its trust. "See? No rubber. How about we start over?"
"Pi," Pikachu said, turning it's head again.
"Still not good enough?" Sora asked, confused. Pikachu nodded once more. The sound of flapping can be heard. They turned and saw a Pokémon that is a small, plump-bodied avian Pokémon. It is primarily brown with a cream-colored face, underside, and flight feathers. On top of its head is a short crest of three tufts. The center crest feathers are brown and the outer two tufts are cream-colored. Just under its crest are its narrow eyes which have white sclera and pupil along with its black irises. Angular black marking extend from behind its eyes and continue down its cheeks. It has a short, stubby beak and feet with two toes in front and one in back. Both its beak and feet are a grayish-pink. It has a short, brown tail made of three feathers. "A Pidgey!" Sora pointed his Pokédex at the bird Pokémon.
Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokémon
Type: Normal/Flying
Pidgey are docile Pokémon, usually avoiding conflict whenever it can. When in danger from predators, Pidgey will whip up sand to protect itself.
"Hey, a Pidgey can be pretty easy to catch," Sora said. "Okay, Pikachu! Go get it!" Sora pointed at the Pidgey.
"Chu," responded, refusing to obey.
"What do you mean by that? You're an Electric-type, so a Pidgey isn't going to be a problem!" Sora said.
"Pi," Pikachu defied. This made Sora groaned in frustration.
"Aren't you ever going to listen to me?" Sora asked.
"Chu," Pikachu responded, shaking his head.
"But why not?" Sora asked. Pikachu didn't bother answering, but instead it ran up a nearby tree.
"Cha!" Pikachu lazily yawned.
"Yeah, well who needs your help, anyway?" Sora snapped. "I can get that thing and I'll do it without you! You'll see!" Sora took the Pokéball and threw it at Pidgey. The Tiny Bird Pokémon is struck and flows inside of it. It wobbles around and around. "That was easy." It kept on wobbling and then bursts out and the Pokéball flies back, hitting Sora in he head. "Ouch!" He fell on his back, making Pikachu laugh. "Or not." Pidgey flew right above Sora. "Uh-oh." Pidgey whips up a whirlwind of sand, making Sora roll backwards. He checked his Pokédex again. He reads. "Okay, Pokémon can be weakened in battle with the Pokémon they already have. You think it's so easy, you try using a Pikachu that won't do what you say!" He huffed when Pikachu kept laughing. "Huh? There's more." He reads more. "However, wild Pokémon can be easily caught when they're fed with some berries. Also, you can sneak up behind a Pokémon while in the tall grass. Just be careful not to be seen by the Pokémon you're trying to catch." He grinned. "It's a good thing I'm good at hiding." He hid in the grass. He snucked behind the Pidgey. "Quietly, quietly, quietly. Don't make a sound, don't make a peep." Pikachu stopped laughing, and looked at Sora, determined how Sora was going to make a fool of himself. Sora took out a Pokéball and he readied to throw it. He then threw the Pokéball at the unsuspecting Pidgey, making it flow inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars then swirls to confirm the catch. "Yes! My very first catch!" He walked up to the Pokéball and picked it up. He sang it, "S-U-C-C-E-S-S! That is how you spell Success!" Pikachu rolled his eyes with an expression that says luck. Then a whole bunch of Pidgey came and whipped up some sand and sends Sora in the air once more. Pikachu then laughs some more. "Laugh all you want, Pikachu, because I caught myself a Pokémon. So, come on out!" Sora tossed the Pokéball and Pidgey came out. Pidgey perched on his shoulder. "Hiya, Pidgey. My name's Sora. And we're going to be friends. How about that?" Pidgey cooes. "That's the spirit." He took out his Pokédex again. "I am curious to see what moves you know." He looked up Pidgey's summary. "Okay, you know three moves. Tackle, Sand-Attack, and Air Cutter? A cool move to use." He heard some rustling in the grass, and out came a is a small, quadrupedal rodent Pokémon. It has purple fur with a cream-colored face, paws, and underbelly. It has narrow eyes containing white sclera and pupil with red irises, rounded ears with cream-colored insides, and a single whisker on each cheek. Its long tail is tightly curled at the end. Its most notable feature is its large teeth. "A Rattata." He points his Pokédex at the Rattata.
Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon
Type: Normal
It will chew on anything with its fangs. If you see one, you can be certain that 40 more live in the area. It's cautious in the extreme, and its hardy vitality lets it live in any kind of environment.
Sora turned to Pidgey.
"You ready to spread your wings, Pidgey?" Sora asked. Pidgey nods. "Okay, go!" Pidgey flew right at Rattata, and waited for instructions. "Pidgey! Tackle!" Pidgey charged at Rattata with the force of its body, landing a hit. Rattata then tackles into Pidgey. "Use Air Cutter!" Pidgey flaps its wings, releasing multiple light blue blades of energy from them at the Mouse Pokémon. Rattata is struck by the attack. Rattata then comes right at Pidgey again and then rolls into a ball of fire, striking Pidgey hard. "That was Flame Wheel! Alright, think, Sora, think! Wait, Sand-Attack can bring down a Pokémon's accuracy when it hits! So, Sand-Attack!" Pidgey flapped sand right into Rattata's eyes, bliding it. Rattata then ran and missed. "That worked better than I thought. Okay, Pidgey! Tackle!" Pidgey flew right at Rattata, landing a hit. Sora saw Rattata was softened up and he threw another Pokéball, making it flow inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball confirming the catch. "I got myself a Rattata!" He picked up the Pokéball and smiled, feeling proud of himself. He turned to Pikachu. "See? I showed you!" Pikachu wasn't impressed. Pidgey lands on the ground and then a loud snapping sound is heard. Sora turned and saw Pidgey in a metal cage. Sora screamed. "Pidgey! Don't worry! I'll get you out of there!" Sora said when starts banging the cage. Pikachu saw what he was doing. It saw he was helping the Pokémon inside. With last slam of the rock, the lock came off and he opened the cage and the Pidgey flew out. Sora smiled that he was able to help a Pokémon in need; his Pokémon. He called back his Pidgey. Pikachu was surprised by that display, but it still didn't trust him. Then Pikachu saw two more humans approach the boy from behind.
"HEY YOU!" An angry male voice called. "What the hell do ya think you're doing?!"
Sora turned around to see two men in their mid-twenties to early-thirties standing there angrily glaring at him.
"I just saved that Pidgey that you had locked in a cage! My Pidgey to be exact!" Sora snapped back. "And who are to do that to Pokémon like that?"
"We're Pokémon Hunters," the second one answered. "We make money selling Pokémon on the black market. And you are going to pay for that!" The second hunter pulled out a Pokéball and threw it in the air. "Spearow! Go!"
With that said, out came an avian Pokémon that is very small. It has rough, brown plumage on its head and three brown tail feathers. It has narrow, dark brown eyes with white pupils and a short, hooked beak that is light pink. The feathers covering its wings are pinkish-red with lighter tips, and it has a beige underside with two thin, horizontal stripes. Its light pink feet have two toes in front and one in the back. Black feathers cover its back. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.
Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokémon
Type: Normal/Flying
It flaps its small wings busily to fly. Using its beak, it searches in grass for prey. However, it can fly around very fast to protect its territory.
"Spearow?" Sora gasped. "Huh."
"Go get that kid!" Spearow's Trainer ordered. Spearow flew right Sora, just for him to duck before the aggressive bird Pokémon could get him. He grabbed a big stick and swung it to scare it off, but it did nothing. The two hunters just laughed seeing how he's trying to fight back.
"Stupid kid," the first hunter laughed. "You can't hit Spearow like that!" He stopped laughing when he finally noticed Pikachu up the same tree Sora was next to. "Hey look! A Pikachu!"
"Where?!" The second hunter asked.
"Up there in that tree!" The first hunter pointed. He quickly realized what his colleague meant. Not only the hunters saw Pikachu, but Spearow as well.
"Spearow! Forget the kid! Get that Pikachu instead!" The second hunter ordered.
Spearow obeyed its Trainer as it dived at the mouse Pokémon, hoping that it was defenseless. Sora looked up and saw what Spearow was doing.
"You leave Pikachu alone!" Sora shouted.
"That Pikachu is going to make us big money!" The first hunter said.
"You said it," the second hunter agreed. "Keep going!"
Spearow kept diving at Pikachu, and Pikachu kept dodging the assault until Pikachu almost off the branch completely by catching it. Spearow now had Pikachu where it wanted it.
"Pikachu!" Sora shouted in horror.
Before Spearow could deliver the finishing blow, Pikachu shocks Spearow, hitting it with yellow lightning. Spearow fell to the ground in a crisp.
"Aah! Spearow!" The second hunter screamed. "I want that little rat! Besides, nobody does that to my Spearow and gets away with it; especially some punk ass kid!"
"We'll need the whole flock to deal with the both of them!" The first hunter said before he took a whitstle and blew on it. The whistle blurs sounding like Spearow's cry. Before you knew it, a whole flock of Spearow starts flying towards them.
"Uh oh," Sora panicked. He turns to Pikachu and asked, "Should we run?"
"Pikachu," Pikachu nodded as they both started running. They ran as fast as their legs can carry them both. They eventually lost the Spearow flock by hiding behind a big tree. The Spearow just flew pass the tree not noticing that they lost their targets.
"That was a close one," Sora panted.
"Pika," Pikachu also panted.
Once the Trainer and Pokémon caught their breath, they started walking slowly hoping the Pokémon hunters have lost their trail.
Sora sighed as he couldn't believe that there are actually Pokémon Hunters. They catch Pokémon in the wild instead of the traditional way and sell them to greedy people who would add them to their collection.
"I hate it that people like them exist," Sora said. "They don't seem to understand that Pokémon like you are living creatures. I mean, I know Pokémon have actual thoughts and feelings just like people. That's why I like Pokémon so much."
"Pika," Pikachu said.
Pikachu looked up to Sora feeling moved by Sora's words. Maybe Pikachu had Sora all wrong. Not all humans seem to be as bad as Pikachu originally thought. The two of them kept walking until Sora tripped over a log. Pikachu ran to Sora's side wondering if he's okay.
"So you do care," Sora teased. Pikachu's red cheeks huffed as it turns its head again. Sora laughed at the face it's making. "You don't have to admit it. But where are..." A rustling sound is heard. Assuming it was another Pokémon, Sora and Pikachu waited for whatever to emerge from inside the shrubs. It turns out to be is a small, mammalian, quadrupedal Pokémon with primarily brown fur. The tip of its bushy tail and its large furry collar are cream-colored. It has short, slender legs with three small toes and a pink paw pad on each foot. It has brown eyes, long pointed ears with dark brown interiors, and a small black nose. The Pokémon wore a pink bow on its head. "An Eevee." Pikachu's face turned a hint of pink. "Where did you come from?"
"Eevee, vee, vee! Eevee, vee!" The Eevee said frantically.
"You want me to follow, don't you?" Sora asked. It got behind Sora and started to push him behind. "Okay, okay, I'm going, I'm going!"
Sora and Pikachu followed the Eevee to wherever he wanted him to go. Sora looked at the ribbon and he knew it belonged to someone. Pikachu looked at her and saw how cute she is.
"Vee!" The Eevee said, pointing ahead.
"What's so important that you dragged us he-" Sora paused when he saw where they are. "Oh crap," Sora said. "This must those hunter's camp. Why did you bring us here?" He got his answer when he heard a muffled sound. Could it be a poor Pokémon in trouble? Sora went off into the direction of the sound. "I get it! You have a friend in there! That's why you brought us here."
Pikachu was wondering what he was doing only stood there and watched his trainer walk towards the tent. Sora slowly opens the tent reveal a tannish brown burlap sack with it's tip tied with a small white rope. Sora made a realization that it wasn't a Pokémon at all, it was a person. Sora pulled out his switch army knife he just got for his birthday and he cut the rope and the sack opened to reveal what Sora could not have expected.
It was a girl that was apparently around his age, she wore a white top, with a black shirt underneath exposing a small part of her navel. And also a lavender skirt and pink shoes. She also wore a necklace with a silver bead. Her mouth was slapped was duct tape and her hands were tied. She also has blue eyes just like Sora's and had auburn red hair. Sora was awestruck, seeing how beautiful she is.
"Pi," Pikachu teasingly chuckled.
Pikachu looked up at Sora and grinned as it saw Sora blushing. Sora cut the rope on her wrists and pulled the tape off her, gently.
"Are you okay?" Sora asked her concerned.
"Y-yes," the girl answered.
Sora's face grew redder when he heard her speak for the first time. She has a pretty voice to match her looks, an angelic one in fact. Sora was a complete loss for words. The girl look right in his face, mostly into the boy's blue eyes. She could have sworn that they were sparkling. Sora's heart was beating faster than a drum.
"Eevee!" The Eevee jumped into her arms and affectionately licked her face.
"Angel, I'm so glad you're safe," the girl said.
Sora looked around to see if there was any sign of them. He turned to the girl and putting his arm around her shoulder helping her up.
"Can you walk?" Sora asked.
"A little," the girl answered him. She looks at him and smiled. "Thank you."
"Y-you're welcome," Sora said. "My name is Sora by the way."
"Kairi," the girl introduced herself.
Kairi. A pretty name for a pretty girl. Sora wanted to ask Kairi how she ended up in that situation, but decided that'll have to wait until they have reached Viridian City since it the nearest city in miles.
Unknown to Pikachu and the kids, a Spearow flies over the camp overseeing what has happened. The Spearow flew to inform its masters.
Back with the hunters Spearow starts squawking and hinted that they should head back to camp.
"Something's up back at camp?" The first hunter asked.
"Gonna have to think so," the second hunter said. "If that girl caused any trouble while we were away, then she'll be in such trouble like I told her."
They followed the Spearow back to camp. Once they had reached their camp, they looked around to see if anything was messed with while they were gone.
"No signs of the kid or his Pikachu," the first hunter said.
"None over here either," the second hunter replied. "The Spearow must have been flying in loops."
"We're not taking chances here," the first hunter said. "There could be cops in the area! They've been on our tails from day 1!"
"Settle down," the second hunter told his colleague. "We've been careful not leaving any trails for them to follow. You go check on the hostage while I double check for clues."
"R-Right," the first hunter said. He did exactly that when he stepped inside the tent. And when he saw that the sack was empty his eyes widened and his heart jumped in his throat. "CRAP!"
The second hunter came running up to the tent.
"What's wrong?" The second hunter asked.
"The girl..." The forst hunter said nervously.
"What about her?" Asked the second hunter.
"SHE'S GONE!" He screamed.
"WHAT?!" He looked inside to see that their hostage was indeed gone. "It's gotta be that spiky-haired brat and his Pikachu! I just know it!"
"Look!" The first hunter pointed to the ground. There were three sets of footprints leaving the camp and heading into the direction of the nearby city. And there were two sets that wasn't human. "Footprints! You were right! It is that kid!"
"Let's go after them!" the second hunter snarled. "We'll find those kids and kill them both! That Pikachu will be mine!"
Elsewhere, fifteen to twenty minutes later, the kids and Pokémon where miles away from the camp hoping that they had lost them. Kairi once she was full strength started walk on her own.
"Again thanks for helping me, Sora wasn't it?" Kairi thanked him.
"Yeah," Sora said in a slight squeak making it sound like he lost his voice making, Pikachu and Angel chuckle, then he cleared his throat and answered in his real voice and tried a mature tone, "Yeah it is." Kairi giggled a little this.
"That's a nice name," Kairi said. Kairi then looked over to Pikachu and walked over to it. "Is this Pikachu yours?"
"Yeah," Sora answered. "Just got it today. How about that Eevee? Is it yours?"
"Yes, she is. I got her for my birthday from my parents. She came with the bow, and I thought she looks cute with it on, also she likes it," Kairi said.
"When you say 'she', does that mean your Eevee is a girl?" Sora asked.
"That's right. Just like your Pikachu's a boy," Kairi said. "I can tell what gender the Pokémon just by their personalities, just like the kind people has."
"How did you know about Pikachu being a boy?" Sora asked.
"It's the shape of his tail. Even if Pikachu didn't have that, I can still tell," Kairi said.
"Wow, you're amazing," Sora said. The compliment made Kairi blush.
"Oh, no, I'm not," Kairi said.
"I mean it, Kairi. I only just met you, and I can already tell how amazing you are," Sora said. This made Kairi smile.
"Thank you, Sora," Kairi said. She looked at him and Pikachu; mostly Sora. Her heart starts to beat. She said in her thoughts, "Oh, he's cute. I never thought I could feel safe with a boy like him."
"Wow, she's really pretty. Not only that, but also smart," Sora said in his thoughts. Pikachu and Angel looked at their Trainers and they smiled. They looked at each other and they blushed. Their hearts were beating fast as they looked at each other. They didn't seem to know yet, but they were already in love with each other.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Sora was about to ask how she got caught to that camp when he saw the flock of Spearow coming out of the trees.
"Oh crap!" Sora exclaimed. "It's them again!"
Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel turned and saw to their dismay that if the Spearow had spotted them, then the Pokémon Hunters were right behind them.
Sora grabbed Kairi's hand and started running. Kairi was being forcefully dragged, by she ran at the same pace as Sora. Angel ran right beside them. The Spearow were gaining on them fast.
"Pikachu! I'll keep you safe!" Sora said.
"Stay close, Angel!" Kairi said.
Pikachu ran ahead hoping that he'll the bird's attention.
"Don't run ahead of us!" Sora said. Spearow flew over him and through him. "Ow!" Sora yelped.
The Spearow started to peck at Pikachu, fell out of exhaustion and more started to dogpile him and proceeded to peck him. Angel then ran towards the Spearow and tackled one of them. The Spearow then came at Angel and did the same thing.
"Pikachu!" Sora shouted as he let go of Kairi's hand.
"Angel!" Kairi gasped. Sora went over to Pikachu while recieving some pecks of his own. Sora picked up the injured Pikachu. Kairi went to Angel and helped her. They started running for it, carrying the injured Pokémon in their arms.
Just when they were going forward, something else unexpected happened. The creatures from Sora's dream appeared. Sora and Kairi were scared at the sight of them.
"What are they?" Kairi asked.
"I don't know," Sora said. He said in his thoughts, "It's those things from my dream! They're real, too?!"
They started to run, hoping to lose them, but more kept coming from the ground.
The creatures were relentless.
They ran just as fast as they could go with a storm cloud forming. Sora didn't care if it did started raining, he just cared about keeping Pikachu safe. Lightning clashed as the Pokémon Hunters rode in on their motorcycles.
"There they are!" The first hunter yelled.
"Don't let them get away!" The second hunter yelled as well.
The Spearow managed to catch up when they started to peck at Sora and Kairi. The Hunters were also catching up with them when the creatures appeared.
"What the?!" The hunters exclaimed. They screamed as they sank beneath the ground. The Spearow and the monsters were gaining on them.
They tripped while Sora dropped Pikachu and Kairi dropped Angel. Kairi manged to get back up, but weakly she walked over to Sora, Pikachu, and Angel.
"Are you okay, Sora?" Kairi asked, picking up the hurt Eevee.
"Yeah," Sora answered. Sora looked down at Pikachu. He gently picked Pikachu up in his arms and handed him to Kairi. "Take Pikachu and Angel, and run."
"No, Sora," Kairi said. " I'm staying beside you. They're after you, too, because of me!"
"No, I broke my Pidgey from the trap that they have set," Sora explained. "I don't want Pikachu to be in even more pain because of me! And that goes for Angel, too." Kairi looked in his eyes and saw tears flowing in his eyes. Pikachu and Angel saw it as well.
Sora saw the Spearow flock fly around with the hunters reving up. They stopped as Sora lifted up up his arms in defiance against the two hunters and their Spearow. The creatures were about to pounce on him, but Sora held his arms up, bracing himself. Suddenly, a flash of light surrounds Sora and it sends the creatures back, making them vaporate as a key-like weapon appears in his hand. He opened his eyes and saw it has long silver Keychain and a Pokéball token on the end of the Keychain. The blade and teeth of the key are silver, the rainguard is blue, and the guard is bright gold. The teeth of the key form the outline of a crown which matches the crown necklace Sora wears.
"Keyblade," the voice spoke.
"Huh?" Sora asked.
"Keyblade," the voice repeated. "Use the Keyblade in your hand to fend off these creatures of darkness." Sora didn't understand, but he crouched down and he came at the creatures. He slashed through them. The Spearow attempted to attack, but they flew back with each swing. They scratched his back, making him scream in pain.
"Listen, whatever you are! My name is Sora from the town of Pallet!" Sora announced. "I will not be defeated by the likes of you! Not by people who will catch and sell Pokémon for money and other selfish gains, and not by monsters like you! I have a dream to see the world and that's what I'm gonna do! I will catch Pokémon not for fame and fortune! Not for glory and power! But for the trust and bond that we humans we share with Pokémon everywhere! For the friendship that humans and Pokémon have forged since the old days! For the love and compassion that Pokémon Trainers give to their Pokémon! The only way that you will ever get Pikachu and this girl is through me!"
Kairi and Pikachu just stood there as they listened to Sora's words. Pikachu was moved especially, now seeing his new Trainer's mature side to him. Kairi was close to tears as the boy who just saved her is about to be torn apart by feral bird Pokémon and strange, black creatures right before her eyes.
The monsters and the Spearow then charged right at him just when lightning crashed.
Before Kairi could call for Pikachu to come back, Pikachu climbed up on Sora's leg right up to his left shoulder. Angel watched how Pikachu was heading to Sora's side. Sora was shocked to see that Pikachu had jumped in front the incoming bird Pokémon and monsters. And just like that, Pikachu let out a powerful jolt of lightning.
"PIKACHU!" Pikachu shouted.
Sora, Kairi, the creatures and all the Spearow were caught in the blast. The creatures were destroyed, and the Spearow were sent flying in the direction they had come in while Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were sent flying in another.
Once the clouds had cleared. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were knocked out, but not for long. All four had regained consciousness.
"Eevee," Angel said, weakly.
Pikachu," Pikachu also weakly said.
"Well, we beat 'em," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu nodded.
"Sounds like Pikachu is saying yes to that. And so is Angel," Kairi agreed. Sora groaned as he slowly got up. And looked at both of them. Sora smiled as Kairi got up and lifted Pikachu and Angel up and handed Pikachu to his Trainer. "Here, Sora," Kairi said as she handed the injured Mouse Pokémon to him. He took Pikachu only for his hand to on top of hers. Both blushed when that happened. Then they saw something in the sky what appears to Ho-Oh flying above them. Its wings are prismatic flapping about causing it to leave trail of a rainbow behind it. It has darkly colored feet and legs with four toes and long talons.
"Whoa," Sora all he was able to say at the sight. "What is that?"
"It's Ho-Oh," Kairi simply said.
"Ho-Oh?" Sora asked her confused.
"Ho-Oh is a legendary Pokémon," Kairi explained to him. "I had only heard about in stories my grandma used to tell me when I was little. It is said that it revived three dead Pokémon in a burning tower and became its servants. I never thought it was real. It's even more beautiful than I thought."
"Eevee," Angel said.
Sora turned to Kairi and thought to himself, "Not as beautiful as you." Sora blushed ended up with a tinge of pink on his cheeks. They watched Ho-Oh fly into the rainbow left behind by the rain. Just then, a feather fell from Ho-Oh. Its coloring is green, white, and red. Sora took the feather in his hand and he looked right at it
Sora and Kairi set off to Viridian City, with Sora carrying Pikachu in his arms and Kairi is carrying Angel in hers. They kept walking until they saw the town in front of them.
"There it is," Kairi said. "Viridian City. My home." Sora turned to Kairi as she turned to him and kissed him on the cheek causing him to blush. "That was for saving me."
Pikachu wealky licked Sora's chin as his blush disappeared. They started to walk to the town to get Pikachu and Angel checked into the local Pokémon center to heal up. And this is only the beginning of their journey together.
