Wishful Thinking

Belphegor stood back and watched the others work, as was his way. He felt profoundly moved by a deep emotion, like a persistent itch to his core; and it wasn't just due to the sight of the firm backsides of the departing Winchesters as they headed off to deal with the spirit situation.

No, this was a feeling he hadn't had to deal with for some time.

Optimism. After eons of sucking up, he might just finally have a chance at a power grab.

And maybe a quick grope, he considered, quickly following the Winchesters before they disappeared from view.
