"Systems are crashing, Captain!"
"Life support is failing!"
"What do we do now, Captain?"
"Shift auxiliary power over to life support."
"Swan, are communications back up yet?'
"Cochlear implants are nearly back online."
"Get those working, Swan, so we can call for help"
"Starboard side pods are losing power!"
"Is there anything you can pull offline and use to power the pods?"
"Shields are the only system not already being rerouted."
"Shields off! Move power to pods."
"But, Captain, we can't protect ourselves without shields."
"Protecting ourselves won't matter if we all die on the ship. Shields off, now!"
"Cochlears back online, Captain!"
"Send out a mayday!"
"Mayday, Mayday. Earth Federation Olympia to anyone listening. Our ship is failing. Mayday. Mayday."
Silence.
"Mayday, Mayday. Earth Federation Olympia to anyone listening. Our ship is failing. Mayday. Mayday."
Silence.
"Mayday, Mayday. Earth Federation Olympia to anyone listening. Our ship is failing. Mayday. Mayday."
"Olympia this is planet Hoh. We are sending a ship to you now."
"What can you give me to see where the Hoh ship is?" Captain Webber calls out to her crew.
"All screens are down, but we have radar available at the science station."
"Engineering to Captain — the warp coil is destabilizing. We must drop out of warp speed."
"Keep us at warp for as long as you can."
"If we continue for much longer we'll have a radioactive explosion!"
"How much time do we have before it explodes?"
"Three minutes, at the most, Captain."
"Give us one more minute at warp, then bring us out of it and eject the coil."
Captain Webber rushes to the science station. "Show me the Hoh ship," she orders.
"Ejecting coil now, Captain."
"All crew, prepare for energy wave!" The captain announces.
Everyone on deck settles in to ride out the energy wave from the nuclear explosion of the warp coil. Once it has passed, all crew members go back to work.
"Captain, we are being hailed," communications officer Swan calls to the captain.
"On speaker," Captain commands.
"Initializing cochlear devices. Comms now open, Captain." Swan responds.
"This is Captain Webber speaking."
"Captain Webber this is Admirable Newcity of the Hoh Starship Gold Tweeting Bird. Please out turn your motors, and we will guardian you in with out tractor laser."
The captain looks toward Swan. "Recalibrate the cochlear. They seem to be having trouble with the Hoh language."
"Cut engines," Captain called to the helm.
"Engines off," helm responded.
"Engines are off. We're prepared for tractor beam," Webber tells Newcity.
"Tractor beam engaging," Newcity states.
The ship shakes as the tractor beam attaches to the Olympia."
"We will guide you to our Space station where you will doc. Please remain on board your ship until our crew can meet you."
Captain Webber watched the radar as they moved closer and closer to the space station. "Do we have enough power for screens now?"
"I can turn on the display at the captain's chair."
"Do so."
The captain moved to the chair and observed their movement toward the space station.
"We are being hailed again, Captain," Swan informed.
"Speakers on. This is Captain Webber."
"You will be docking momentarily. Please brace for touchdown."
"Thank you, Admiral Newcity." Captain turned to Swan. "Keep speakers on and all comms open."
They heard the sound of the ship touching down, and an airlock engaging.
Nearly an Earth hour later, they were hailed once more. "Olympia, this is Admiral Newton. Please prepare to disembark."
The active members of the crew stood on the space station deck awaiting direction from their rescuers. Several male presenting humanoids approached. "Welcome to the Star Ship Goldfinch. I am Admiral Newton. My men will show you to your quarters.
The crew divided themselves up. Many of the crew members wanted to accompany communications officer Swan, as she would have the ability to ameliorate any communications issues. Ultimately only three others accompanied her.
A Hohmale approached them. He outstretched his arm placing his palm on Swan's shoulder. "Welcome. I am Edward." The both startled as an electric shock ran through their bodies.
