DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA SPOILERS. DON'T GO ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE AND DON'T LIKE SPOILERS.

Hiiii! This is weird, because I've never written a Downton fic before, so this is a first for me. A New Era was AMAZING, although I cried a lot. This fic is inspired by the shot of Isobel on the bench, which I'm guessing was on the day of Violet's funeral, so I wrote this. It's not much, but I hope you enjoy it x.

Isobel sat on the bench, the wind blowing on trees and the sun shining. Her eyes were filled with tears and her lip was trembling. Her best friend was gone. Another loss. She realised with a jolt that her body was shaking. She was sobbing. She tried to breathe, but she couldn't.

"Isobel?" A voice asked, getting nearer.

She felt arms wrap around her and as she sobbed into their shoulder, she realised it was her husband. Her wonderful, beloved Dickie.

"She's gone," she sobbed. "Just like Matthew... and... and Reginald... and Sybil... and Lavinia. She's left me."

"I know," Dickie whispered, rubbing her back.

"Please don't leave me, Dickie. Please don't leave me," she pleaded.

"I won't," he promised, stroking her hair. "I'm not going anywhere."

Isobel nodded against his shoulder, as her sobs slowly began to subside. They sat there for a few more minutes, still holding onto each other. She eventually lifted her head up, and, seeing the look filled with compassion, love and concern on his face, she was reminded why she loved this man.

"Should we go?" She asked quietly.

"Are you ready?" He whispered, and she nodded without a word. "Alright."

They both got up, and he offered her his hand, which she took before he squeezed it, and then they walked to the house together.

Thank you all so much for reading, I hope you're all okay after seeing the movie x
