49The Next Morning at the Hospital
Once everyone got to the hospital, they all went back to the private room to talk. Kayla said they were going to try another psychiatrist, female this time around and see if she does any better at getting Lorelai to talk.
"I'll keep you updated on how everything goes." Kayla said
"Ok, thank you." Rory said
"So, grandpa I've got news to share with you. After you left last night, dad and I stayed until Kayla told us to go home for the night. I stayed and talked with Logan and Honor a bit more. They told me all about how Mitchum was doing and asked about mom. Then Logan said he had a favour to ask." Rory said
"Well, how is Mitchum doing?" Richard asked
"Oh, not good at all. Logan and Honor said he lost his speech and is paralyzed on his left side. He uses a tablet to type out what he wants to say." Rory said
"Oh My! That's worse than expected, so what are they going to do about HPG?" Richard asked
"When Logan, Honor and I were talking, Logan said all of Mitchum's shares and power was getting transferred to him, because the board said Mitchum was incapacitated and couldn't make decisions. Even though he can understand everything he is not capable of making the everyday decisions, and it is easier to transfer everything to Logan. Logan still has to deal with his tech business in San Fran, and asked if I could take over while he deals with everything there." Rory said
"Well, yes as things go in business if the board thinks you're too far gone you are done. So, that's good everything is getting transferred to Logan. I was wondering how he was going to deal with that, from what I've heard it is quite the company they have built. I'm happy he asked you and elated for you. He would be stupid to put one of Mitchum's monkeys in there while he is dealing with his other stuff. I'm always a call away if you need help, I might not know much about how papers run, but business is business. That I do know a thing or two about." Richard said
"Thanks grandpa, I'll probably take you up on that. Also, Logan said he would show me around and get me comfortable with things before he has to leave. He said it won't be long but to call for anything too. I was surprised Logan asked but him and Honor said they both trust me the most to take over. Then when Logan comes back we'll be Co-CEO's." Rory said
"Well, that's good and even if we hadn't bumped into him here, he probably would have called or tracked you down and asked you." Richard said
Kayla comes back into the room with another doctor.
"Is now a good time to talk?" Kayla asked
"Sure." Everyone answered
"Ok, this is Dr. Kristy and she just got done talking with Lorelai and evaluating her, so let's go over everything from my talk and evaluation along with Dr. Krisy's talk and evaluation." Kayla said
"Ok, sure." Everyone said
"So, from my perspective Lorelai definitely has issues with her mental health and also control issues." Kayla said
"From my talk and evaluation of Lorelai, I see the same. Definitely has mental health issues along with control issues, a warped way of thinking and parts of OCD. She kept saying she didn't need to talk with me and everything was fine. I asked why Rory thought she needed to get checked out, she said that Rory was trying to control her and got everyone involved who didn't need to be like her friends and coworkers. I then asked what happened that she and Rory were fighting. Lorelai said "I gave everything up to raise her out of that world and she goes right back into it without consequences, she's not living by the plan because daddy and the witch says its ok to try something else and buy her a nice fancy penthouse to go with it."
"From what Kayla informed me on before I met with Lorelai, all of your accounts of her were accurate. My suggestion would normally be therapy and out patient treatment but since we know she already is resistant to that. I would highly suggest a mental health treatment facility where she stays for at least 6 months, and we would evaluate her at 3 months in and at 6 months. If at 6 months she still hasn't made the progress we are hoping for then there is the option to extend her stay." Dr. Kristy said
"We talked about this together and both thought it was the best option but we are open to any thoughts or suggestions you have, this isn't set in stone it is just one option." Kayla said
"I was thinking of what options she would do willingly and there are none that I can think of. I think that is it for the best to put her there. I don't know what dad and grandpa think but it has my vote to put her in a mental health facility." Rory said
"I'm with Rory, I believe that is best for her to get the help she needs. I know she would never do the work to get better by herself. Where is the facility located?" Chris asked
"I agree, she has gone too long without the help and won't take the help willingly." Richard said
"Ok, so you are all in agreement, that's a great start. There are a few facilities in Boston and Chicago I would recommend. I can show you all the information on each of them and you can see which one fits best." Kayla said
"From everything I've seen and everything you've said about Lorelai, I believe its best to send her to one out of state. That way she knows this is series and can't just leave to go home if you chose one closer to home. That's just my opinion on where to send her." Dr. Kristy said
"Why don't I go get the information for you to look over and you can all talk. Then when we come back, we will see where you are all at." Kayla said
"Sure, sounds good thank you." Rory said
