15th June,1988
Japan was hit by a storm people where advised to stay under shelter by authorities. Ignoring all this weather a man in office suit was running down the streets if he could find a taxi but it was hard in this type of weather so he decided to run all his way through the storm to reach his destination.
But why was this guy in so much hurry? and most importantly who was he?
He was Hachiro Tachibana and the reason for running like a crazy was because the wait of whole nine months was gonna end now, which means he had just received a call from Mrs. Granger - a friend of his wife and their neighbour- that his wife's was about to go in labour and they are taking her to hospital.
Finally when he reached there and saw Mrs Granger and her friend who was on phone little away from them.
"Thank you so much Mrs Granger. How's she?... has the baby arrived?... is everything ok?"
" You're welcome, trust me she will be fine and in any minute now you will be hearing the first cries of your baby, you just need to calm down Mr. Tachibana and I think since you're here now, it's time for me and Misaki to go now, kids will be waiting for us"
"Oh yes... but it's storming outside, will you be able to drive ?" even if he was panicked he couldn't let her drive in such weather especially since she had given birth to Tyson just few months ago.
As if on cue, Misaki arrived -who previously had been answering an urgent call- and said:
" Oh it'll be fine, our homes are not that far anyway and I am sure it's safe as it's not as intense as it had been few minutes ago" and they left.
He was waiting since almost 30 minutes, he could hear the cries of his wife that made him worried but atlast he heard the cries of baby. The second she started crying the rain started as if waiting for her arrival.
Then Doctor came out and said "Congratulations! you've been blessed with a daughter"
Meanwhile at Hiwatari's
Susumu Hiwatari, Director of BBA, was working in his study room and getting bored until his wife came back .
"Hey, how's it going? and where's Kai?"
"Boring and he's sleeping in crib near the fireplace, he seemed quite upset"
"Hm, He doesn't like this kind of weather, not even the rain which the other kids like."
"Hn"
"But he likes fire and warmth, the fire always attracts him, you know it's like he is the child of the fire.''
"He sure is." said Susumu with a smile.
"You know Voltaire called, he ordered that we all should go back to Russia" said Misaki.
While his parents were talking 1y/o baby Kai got up, he was feeling restless in the crib so he got up but couldn't find anyone else, so he decided get out himself and with much effort he somehow got out of crib. He walked to the sliding glass door with his little cute feets and saw the rain, which normally he would hate it as he couldn't meet neko-chan who visits him everyday. But today, the rain seemed calming and cheerful, he saw a little gap and went out to feel those rain drops on his palms and his cute little lips were now curling up as he felt those droplets touching his hands. Now he was chuckling and his cute chubby cheeks turned rosie red due to happiness.
As soon as Kai caught the raindrops, the cries of newborn baby girl in hospital subsided and slowly the baby calmed down in her mother's loving embraced, as if he had caught her tears and stopped her from crying and then she smiled the cutest smile her parents had seen till today.
"She is really cheerful and hilarious too, you know she snatched the specs of doctor while she was crying out loud" said the mother happily.
While laughing at this, a thought crossed the mind of and he said-
"How about we name her 'Hilary'?"
The rain had done it's job, it had tied two hearts in an unexplainable bond-
'One was loud and the other was quite
One was like an open book and the other was a closed one'
But together they would always complete each other.
After 16 years
"And why are we doing this again?" asked Tyson.
"Because they is our friends and it's simple you and Max to Hilary's and I will go to Kai's" said Ray "They have been acting weird lately and it's her birthday tomorrow, we can't allow her to be sad, right Tyson?"
"Yes, you're right no one should be sad on their birthday even 'the wicked witch of tenth grade'" said Tyson.
"Let's do it guys!" said Max with enthusiasm.
As decided they reached their respective destinations and ring the doorbells
"What do you think she could be doing Ty?"
"Don't know Maxie, let's check" said Tyson after finding that the door was unlocked.
Her parents were out of town to visit a sick relative and were to come tomorrow. The hallway was dark no lights were on except the one on the first floor.
"This looks like a horror movie, doesn't it?"
Tyson gulps and says "Let's g-go and ta-take a look"
They reached near her room, the occupant of the room had heard them and before they could bang the door, the person opened the door and -
"What do you guys want?"
"Ahhhhh" screamed Max and Tyson.
"Jeez guys, shut up, it's me Hilary"
"Oh thank goodness! it's you" said Tyson and Max panting.
"Why did you switched off all the lights in the house?" asked Max.
"Save Electricity, Save Earth" said Hilary rolling her eyes.
Her room was like mess which was highly unlikely for someone like her, photographs here and there, lots of chocolates boxes and wrappers spread across the room.
Unlike Tyson and Max, Ray's meeting with Kai wasn't dramatic or anything, it was rather... different.
As Ray ringed Kai's doorbell Kai opened the door and let him in. There Ray saw many kittens drinking milk and eating food, out of curiosity he finally asked Kai -
"These are all yours Kai? but I had seen few of these in the alley once"
"Hn"
Ray wanted to say that it's so kind of him to care for stray animals like that but knowing Kai, it was better to keep it to himself and that's not why he came to him anyways.
"You know you've been acting weird since last few days and you are not even present on training sessions just like Hilary"
"What!?" asked Kai as he got curious after hearing Hilary's name.
"Yes and she refused to come for her birthday party that we had planned for her too" as now he had Kai's whole attention he tried to push his luck " D-Did something happened between you two?"
"I/She confessed my/her feelings for him/me" said Hilary and Kai at same time and different places ofcourse.
"What!" was the reaction Ray, Tyson and Max
"Yes"
"And you didn't told me once, we are best friends Hilary, I'm hurt" said Tyson puffing his cheeks like a child.
As usual curiousity was taking the best out of Max and he finally asked "What did he said?"
"Nothing, just 'hn' and then he went away" said Hilary.
"You just went away!" exclaimed Ray, "Man, this is were you should have told her that you feel for her the same way" hearing this Kai raised his eyebrows.
"Don't even deny it, I know you two have come closer since that whole Bega scenario and now it's no wonder she's upset and avoiding any subject regarding you"
"She's upset?" Kai asked sadly.
"Yes and you shouldn't be surprised after what you did"
Kai took out his phone and was staring at it thinking whether to call her or not, which Ray noticed and said "That's right now call her and tell her to meet you "
At first Kai thought how could Ray tell what to do? but since Hilary was involved in this case and Ray was an experienced guy in this department, he decided to take the advice-
"Maybe he doesn't likes you" said Tyson jokingly while eating one of the Hilary's chocolates.
Hilary snatched the chocolate from his hand "You're not helping Tyson".
"Hey, I was joking and relax you know how ol' sourpuss is, maybe he might just call you now"
As if on cue Hilary's phone started ringing both Max and Hilary were now looking at Tyson " Ah, magic guys... oh it might be someone else...just go get it Hilary"
"Oh no it's really Kai...what am I supposed to do now... what if he's angry, what if he wants to break all ties and just go back to Russia to never come back, what if it's his last call to me, oh my, what should I do"
Tyson and Max sweatdrop at her behaviour "Hils, before you release season 2 of Marvel's 'What If' just pick up the phone before it goes off."
"Uh... hello Kai"
"Meet me at dojo tomorrow afternoon"
"Uh...yes K-Kai" said Hilary shyly.
And the phone went off..
"He called to meet him at Dojo tomorrow, wha-"
"Before you go mad again, just listen to me, calm down everything will be fine " said Max as he and Tyson take her into brotherly hug.
"Thanks guys" said Hilary hugging them back.
The Big Day
Kai was waiting for Hilary at the back of dojo, she had yet to come. The black clouds were indicating that it was going to rain today. Thoughts were clouding his mind too 'what if she's unable to come due to rain, what if she's hates me for not responding' his trail of thoughts was interrupted by her sweet voice "Kai"
She was looking so beautiful that it left him dumbfounded her beautiful red dress, her brown hair done perfectly, her ruby eyes, to him she was looking like a goddess.
His amethysts locked with her rubies and they started approaching each other. As the neared each other the time stopped, their eyes trying to read each other.
Taking a deep breath Kai decided to finally say something,
"Happy Birthday, Hilary"
"Thanks Kai" Hilary said blushing.
Then after a pregnant pause he said,
" Hilary... I'm sorry...I-"
"I get it Kai, you don't like me, I..I know it was so sudden... maybe I shouldn't have said anything in first place, I jus-..." sadness evident in her voice as she started to think about negative responses.
This was not what he was planning, he was never good in this 'talking things out' stuff and that was the reason he hadn't said anything that day, he got little tensed as he saw tears welling up in her eyes. Finally he decided if he can't tell her then he'll show her how much he adores her.
As the first tear rolled down her cheek he caught it on his palm and then pulled her into kiss, at first she was shocked but then she gave in as she got the answer she always wished for. Rain started as if to witness their first kiss.
They slowly parted after some time and went near the deck to be under roofs, thankfully their clothes were not all drenched. Then they heard their friends shouting "FINALLY!" through window -they had been hiding there since Hilary came- Kai glared at them for disturbing him and Hilary and Hilary chuckled and blushed with embarrassment.
Taking the cue from Kai's glare Ray took the whole gang with him -much to their whining- to give privacy to new couple.
Kai and Hilary were now looking at rain and occasionally catching those raindrops on their palms, those drops felt familiar to them, they sat there as comfortable silence surrounded them.
"Kai, I love you" said Hilary breaking the silence.
"I love you too, Hilary" said Kai (finally) leaning in another kiss.
The bond that were tied by rain years ago was now sealed with kiss.
