Hey everyone, 99 Luffy here. Been a while since I actually put out a story, and the last one was not great, not that I am a great writer personally, but I do enjoy writing sometimes, and since none of the stories I enjoy reading are currently updating, I figured I would start writing a couple new stories. One is this one which is a Bleach story, the other is a One-Piece story.
I'm going to be honest I plan to change up how things work out in this one quite a bit from the beginning due to the fact I'm not the biggest fan of how slow the beginning of bleach feels, and how Rukia, who is smart, acted so stupid about how she trained Ichigo, almost as if she planned to have him die in the line of duty, instead of teaching him properly how he should survive against hollows. This seemed very out of character for her, at least in my opinion it was. She cared enough to save him, but not enough make sure he stayed alive in his own fights after this. I think we can all agree this doesn't make sense.
I'm also not the greatest fan of Rukia as the starting heroine anyway, though I do plan for her to become one Ichigo's friends rather quickly in this story. She will also become one of the captain class fighters in this story, mostly because her Bankai is easily one of the most badass Bankai's of any of the fighters out there.
Thus, I wanted to see what it would look like to see a story where Rukia was still one of Ichigo's friends, and yet he was trained by someone who truly helped guide Ichigo in his potential, and helped him mature faster as a man, while also keeping him humble due to always knowing just how far behind in strength to his teacher he actually was.
That being said, I know many of you are going to hate on this story, because some parts won't be accurate to bleach, but hey it's fanfiction and if you wanted a hundred percent accuracy, then you should honestly not be on fanfiction, because this is all just how someone else wants the story to go.
I am open to constructive criticism, but if you just want to troll feel free to, just know I won't read your comments past the first couple of lines filled with all your hate and vitriol. So, you will be wasting your time, and yes I will be laughing every time I see your name pop in the comments section again thanks to how childish you are. (Yes, I am willing to laugh at you, don't be dumb not everyone on here is nice, and while I will respect others, I will not respect idiots, and monsters.)
That said let's get into this story.
Yamamoto was for the first time in years concerned with how a captains meeting would turn out. He just knew in his heart that what central 46 had ordered him to do, would result in his coming years being filled with frustration and anger being sent his way in large amounts by the captains under his command. However, orders were orders, and Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto followed orders for the good of soul society and the balance they kept between the worlds from collapsing.
However, even if he followed orders this did not mean that he always enjoyed doing so, the extermination of the Quincy being a prime example of a directive he knew must happen but did not desire to actually completely follow through with. Though luckily there were usually ways around this, but not today's order. No today he would have to inform his captain's that they now had a new job to add onto there already overfilled schedules. One that only promised to add onto the frustration that came with being a captain.
Thus, Yamamoto head captain of the 13 court guard squads of the Soul King walked into the captains meeting, and for the first time ever, he was last. This was only going to increase the frustration of the captains under his authority, and he just knew it. He could already feel his own headache coming on, but for now he would just have to ignore it, so he continued on to his own seat. Turning to face the captains, he sat down and banged his staff against the ground and said, "This captains meeting is now in session. Before we get to your reports over your divisions and how everything is going, I have an announcement for you all from the central 46. Due to recent reports and events the central 46 has come to the conclusion that many of you may be becoming lazy and weak due to your time behind your desks, rather than out in the field. Thus, it has been decided that for your own continued growth or at least for you all to maintain your current levels, you all are to spend a stint of time equal to six months in the world of the living for every decade of your captaincy, out on assignment in the living world."
For a moment there was silence and then Yamamoto's fears from earlier were realized as the entire room immediately started yelling out their refusals and frustrations, even his oldest students Ukitake and Kyoraku both were yelling out their own frustrations for the rather ridiculous demand forced upon them. Tensions were rising fast, and Yamamoto knew that if he did not do something quick, he would have just short of a revolt on his hands.
He therefore banged his staff on the ground releasing a silent kido that made the staff's bang resound five times louder than it normally could on the ground, and in a voice that commanded attention shouted, "SILENCE!", while doing this he also released about ten percent of his reiatsu into the room. This immediately caught everyone's attention as they all stopped yelling and stood at attention waiting for him to speak.
"I understand that you all have some issues with this command, but the central 46 is adamant in their stand on this issue and will accept no argument from any of you over this issue." Yamamoto stated to the ire and irritation of many within the room.
Stepping forward the squad 12 captain and head of the Gotei's R&D department Mayuri Kurotsuchi demanded "Surely this is not meant for everyone here, I understand many of these imbeciles may very well need such an act to help keep their strength up to par, but I have many experiments that need twenty four hour observation on them otherwise they may very well fail, and six months is far to long of a time to be a way from any of them in case something were to go wrong." Kurotsuchi was easily the most disturbing and psychotic member of the Gotei 13 seen almost since its inception as a military service under the soul king. He spent an inordinate amount of time on his make up for starters recently painting the center of his face all black with a white ring that encompassed the rest of his head minus the black face. No one could really know why he did what he did, but honestly none could deny his sheer ability and brilliance, so he was allowed to stay as long as he did not cause to many issues with his experiments.
He was quickly followed by Yamamoto's laziest captain Shunsui Kyoraku. A flamboyant flirt, and wannabe playboy, who caried himself with an air of thoughtlessness most days, who dressed in the standard Shinigami garb, with the captains haori over top, along with a flowery kimono over top of his haori. He tops off his ensemble by wearing a straw hat upon his head that he keeps tipped down much of the time to hide when he is taking naps. He said, "Yamamoto sensei, I hope that this doesn't mean we have to make up for all of the time that we have been captains, some of us have been around for centuries, and if your wording is to be understood as I take it then some of us will have to go on assignment for a very long time." This caused several of his other captains to nod along with concern on their faces as well thinking about how many decades they had been in their current positions.
Sighing Yamamoto spoke again, "Do not worry I managed to make them tone it down a little bit. It will simply start with anyone who has been serving for longer than five centuries serving for a year to make up for the time they spent behind a desk. Anyone who has spent less time than that will only have to serve for the six-month stint for their first assignment. We will be going in order starting with Captain Soi-Fon at the end of the month. Each of you will simply be sent to guard the current Jureichi in the living world. It is a relatively simple task meant for you all to maintain your skills as captains. Thus, most of you will have time to prepare for your time away from your position in your squads."
At this point Yamamoto's oldest captain Retsu Unohana of the fourth squad stepped forward. She was easily the most feared individual in the room aside from the captain commander himself to many, though she was a well behaved and quite attractive woman with a nearly flawless complexion, despite her age being somewhere around 2,000 years old. She dressed very modestly for all intent and purpose and the only thing that set her aside from most women was her hair being braided down from behind her head to her front almost as if she was wearing a scarf. She looked out of the corner of her eye at all of the other captain's and turning to Yamamoto said, "Does this include myself? If so, I must ask what you intend for me to do out there since I am only a healer."
Frowning Yamamoto looked to her and could almost see the old killer she used to be coming to the surface at the expectation of combat being forced onto her once more. Once again felt like sighing out loud knowing in a year when it was her turn, she would be the biggest issue for him to resolve. However, he mustered up the strength to respond to her in this instance and replied, "Every captain aside from myself has been ordered to do their own assignment in the world of the living and guard the Jureichi, including yourself Captain Unohana."
Looking to the group as a whole he saw many of them either grumbling in frustration or frowning in concentration as they started to go over their logistics of what needed to be done in their absence. He continued, "I expect all of you to perform your duty to perfection during your time in the world of the living. Captain Soi-Fon you have one month from today to prepare you squad for your departure and to instruct your lieutenant of all of your duties that he will perform during your time away."
Here he paused as he looked at the entire group before continuing, "You all will be compensated for this service as it will be a nuisance for all of you. Because of this I have managed to talk the central 46 into giving each of you a week off to enjoy the world of the living during your time in the living world where you can simply enjoy a short vacation. Consider this my apology for the short, sited vision of our governing body."
Stepping forward the youngest and shortest captain in the room asked the question on many people's minds, "Captain-Commander Yamamoto, why has this been forced upon us now? I'm struggling to see how sending us on assignment out into the world of the living will directly benefit any of us." This was brought up by Toushiro Hitsugaya a man that looked like nothing more than a child with white hair who had to keep his Zanpakuto strapped to his back due to his short stature.
A quick look to the child led the captain to a moment of hope as he saw a bright future for this young man, and in a moment of benevolence not many would expect from the aging Captain-Commander he responded, "This has to do with the fact that within the last fifty years we have lost two captains one, your predecessor, who just vanished, and another the former tenth Kenpachi who was killed almost without a fight by our current Kenpachi. On top of this most of the captains in this room haven't even been around for more than two hundred years in their current positions. This has led the Central 46 to feeling as though we may very well need to have our captains involved in a more hands on upkeep of their own powers and abilities, otherwise they fear we may come across an event that will lead to our failure and the collapse of the balance in the future if we as its greatest protectors are not up to snuff."
"Now, let us move on to any other issues at hand before we draw this meeting to a close." Yamamoto said as he started to have the captains give their reports, before dismissing most of them for the day. As they were leaving however, he called out, "Captains Jushiro, Kyoraku, and Unohana, please stay behind for a moment. I have a few more things to say to you all."
As the others left those three quickly walked up and stood before Yamamoto, before Kyoraku calmly responded, "What's up sensei? And if so does it have to do with this nuisance that was sprung on us earlier?"
Frowning at his student Yamamoto said, "While everyone is to use this assignment in the living world as a more focused training time, you three in particular due to your age, and your reiatsu levels have some extra rules to follow, first you are only allowed to use your Shikai if a Menos Grande level opponent shows up, and your Bankai only if you are in absolutely dire trouble. On top of this you three will be restricted by your limiters to five percent of your power. Because of this you three will need to be very careful while on this mission. The central 46 feel your skills might have truly fallen due to your time alive, and especially since we have not had a true enemy to fight in quite some time. However, I do not wish to lose my oldest captains to the stupidity of those who govern our balance, therefore I am commanding you all to be extremely careful during your time out in the world of the living, we still do not know what caused the disappearance of former captain Shiba, but we do know it happened around where the Jureichi is currently located. I could not get the Central 46 to back off of their desire for the completion of this assignment, but we will not be caught unawares by it is that understood?"
His tone may have given nothing away, but his words showed the depth of his concern for both his students and his last remaining comrade to those in the room with him, and so each of them gave a quick bow, and proceeded to head towards the door.
Yamamoto watched them for a second and just prayed that nothing bad would happen from this incredibly ridiculous command, even if he could do nothing about it for the foreseeable future. Direct orders were tricky to get around even for one as old as him.
