Chapter 4: A Turning Point
A few minutes after Chapter 3. Jaune is seen resting his head on his arms while the constantlyzooming, fast-talking, and coffee-fueled professor: Bartholomew Oobleck, Is at the front of class lecturing about the Faunus Rights Revolution, also known as the Faunus War.
He points at the map on the board with his stick. Then blips off to the side for a sip of his coffee before appearing in front of the desk.
"Now! While this must feel like ancient history to many of you, it is imperative to remember that these are relatively recent events! Why, the repercussions of the uprising can still be seen to this day!"
He paces around the classroom more, sipping his coffee again (his whole body is probably just coffee at this point.) before continuing to talk.
"Now! Have any among you been subjugated or discriminated against because of your Faunus heritage?" He asked as some students raised their arms, including Velvet.
"Dreadful, simply dreadful! Remember, students, it is precisely this kind of ignorance that breeds violence!" He said as he took another sip of his coffee. (Seriously, how many does he drink in one day?!)
"I mean, I mean, I mean just look at what happened to White Fang! Now, which one of you young scholars can tell me what many theorize to be the turning point in the third year of the War?" He asked. Weiss raised her hand. He gestures to her.
"Yes?"
"The Battle at Fort Castle!" Weiss stood up and said aloud.
"Precisely! And, who can tell me the advantage the Faunus had over General Lagune's forces?"
Cardin saw a chance to mess with Jaune He took a piece of paper and folded it into a paper football. Then he flicked it towards him, startling him up.
"Hey!" He rubbed the back of his head as he turned to Cardin. Professor Oobleck notices this and zooms inon Jaune's face.
"Mr. Arc! Finally contributing to class! This is excellent! Excellent! What is the answer?"
Jaune stuttered for a few seconds before Jaymie saved him from embarrassment.
"Night vision sir!" He said, standing up from his seat. He glared at Cardin after he spoke, unsettling him a tad.
"Many Faunus are known to have nearly perfect sight in the dark," Pyrrha added.
"General Lagune was inexperienced, and made the mistake of trying to ambush the Faunus in their sleep. His massive army was outmatched, and the general was captured." Blake chimed in, then she looked at Cardin and continued.
"Perhaps if he'd paid more attention in class, he wouldn't have been remembered as such a failure." She mockingly said. Cardin stood up from his seat with his fists clenched.
"Mr. Winchester! Please take your seat."
Jaune laughs at his tormentor's embarrassment, 'teleporting' to him.
"You and Mr. Arc can both see me after class for additional readings." He said as he took yet another sip of his coffee. (He should be having severe symptoms, but hey, at least he's not dead. Now that's something.)
The previous narrator got so fed up that the author hired a new oneā¦
Jaymie sat atop a two-story building. He could see the faint glow of the streetlights below as some people walked by. But he didn't mind that, he was focused on something else. He pulled out a radio from his pocket and listened to it, but then he heard acommotion. He stood up and looked for the source of the noise.
Jaymie pinpointed the location and started to free run to his destination.
Roman Torchwick and four of his henchmen head down an alley from the shadows.
They stop behind Roman, who reignites his cigar and grins before walking down the road, frightening nearby citizens as they make their way towards the shop "From Dust Till Dawn."
Roman and his henchmen enter the shop. The henchmen look around and at the 'Dust crystals' n display when Roman approaches the elderly shopkeeper.
"Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust Shop open this late?" He said with annoyance, flicking the cigar in between his fingers. One of the henchmen points his gun at the shopkeeper.
The man put his hands up and pleaded.
"P-please! Just take my Lien and leave!"
Jaymie observed from outside, waiting for the right chance to catch them by surprise.
"Shhh, shhh, shhh, shhh, calm down, we're not here for your money." He gently said, motioning one of them to grab the Dust.
The henchman opened a case and removed one of several cylinders, which the group uses to collect Dust from the tube containers on the walls.
Then one of them put a case in front of the shopkeeper. "Crystals, Burn, and Uncut." He saidthis in a plain tone, looking the shopkeeper straight in the eye.
The shopkeeper proceeds to fill the case. As another henchman grabs another tube, Jaymie strolls nonchalantly in through the front door. They turn around and point their weapons.
"Woah, chill. I'm just an ordinary citizen." Roman observed this strange fellow. He wore a gray coat reaching to his knees, dark baggy pants, awhite t-shirt, and a gray fedora.
"Well you don't seem like one." He said, motioning one of his henchmen to attack.
"What are you waiting for? Get him!" Roman barked, causing the henchman to move on the offense. Jaymie took out his gauntlets and put his arms up, deterring the assault.
Jaymie uppercuts the henchman, sending him to the ceiling, then the others nod to each other and rush him at once. One of them provided firing support while the rest charged him with weapons in hand.
He stood still and closed his eyes as he pulled out the spoon. He took a batter's stance and swung it so hard that the henchmen were engraved into the wall. The last one backed away, then in a swift motion, Jaymie stabbed him in the chest as blood spilled to the ground.
The henchman screamed in pain as he clutched his wound. Jaymie just looked at him with not a single emotion in his eyes, then he turned back to see Roman climbing up a ladder. He decided to let him go for the time being and stare at the man, who was still in pain at his feet.
He thought about what he had done in his life, all the way until now. He clutched his hands to his face and burst out laughing. After he stopped, tears instantly gushed from his eyes as he lay down on the ground.
"What have I done?" He asked himself, as he continued to drown out his sorrows. Then, after a while, he stood up and left the store without saying a word. The police arrived a few minutes later.
Beacon Academy, Ozpin's Office.
Ozpin is looking out into the night, taking a sip from his drink. Then he heard the elevator chime. He knew immediately who it was and turned around to greet him. "Ah, Mr. Jazzberry. What brings you to my office?" He asked in a calm tone as he looked intohis eyes. They were the eyes of someone who took a life.
"Can I ask you a small favor, please?" Jaymie said in a depressed tone.
Ozpin didn't want to lose a gifted student like him, but he knew what needed to be done.
"I already know Jaymie; Now take this pen and book." He replied, handing him a book and pen.
Jaymie swiftly opened his eyes as he looked around his apartment, he vividly remembered last seeing an old man but can't recall his name. He stood up from his bed and ate breakfast in silence as thought entered his mind.
'Guess it was all just a dream.'
