A Vampire's Blood Rose
Chapter 2: The Vamp and the Nun
The sun's rays soon shone inside Aki's bedroom. Some of the rays touched Aki's face as she moaned and slowly started to open her eyes. Her vision became blurry until it was clear as she awakened to find herself in her bedroom. Aki rubbed her eyes and sat up on her bed. She stretched her arms and yawned. After she regained her focus on the window as she saw it was morning. Aki couldn't help but recall what happened to her last night. She thought it was a dream but it turned out to be too real for her.
(Flashback)
As she was feeling hopeless and waited for the worst to come. All of a sudden she heard the man scream. She opened her and to her shock she saw someone holding the man by his neck. It was another man who appeared to be the same age as her. He had black spikey hair with golden streaks, he was wearing a white motorcycle jacket, black shirt underneath, black gloves, black pants and black combat boots. Aki gasped at the sight as she stood up upon seeing the scene unfold. She stood horrified as the other man bit down on his neck and began sucking him dry. The goon screamed in pain as he felt his lifeforce slipping away. After he was drained of his life, the man tossed the lifeless body as if it were trash. Aki's eyes widened in horror at what he had done.
After that occurred the man who saved her turned to her and looked at her with his one piercing red eye glowing blood red. His other eye was covered by his bangs. Aki clasped her hands together however she didn't look scared, instead had a look of fascination. The two meet eye contact for what appeared to be a while.
"Who…Who are you?" Aki asked, breaking the silence.
"Are…Are you alright?" The mysterious man asked. "Are you hurt?"
"I…I…" Aki staggered.
She wanted to say something but she started to feel woozy from all that running. Aki almost fainted to the ground but was caught by the stranger. She groaned as she opened her eyes yet her vision remained blurry. She could see the stranger looking down at her with a worried look. Aki's vision began to blur as she closed her eyes and fainted.
(End of Flashback)
"Was it a dream?" she thought.
Just then Aki looked at her clock on her night table. She panicked as she saw that she was going to be late for her church duties.
"Oh No!" Aki yelled. "I need to get ready. I'm going to be late!"
Quickly, she took a quick shower and got herself dressed in her newly cleaned nun uniform. She put her dirty uniform in the laundry basket. Once Aki was ready she headed out the door. Aki quickly sprinted to the church as fast as she could. When she got there she immediately opened the doors and walked right in. She noticed Sister Martha talking to two people in the cathedral. One was another nun who appeared to be the same age as Martha wearing glasses while the other was a man with brown hair that was in a pompadour-like bang who appeared to be in his late twenties. He had a priest uniform as he was talking to the two older nuns.
Aki walked towards the group, and the man noticed her coming towards them. His olive-green eyes met her amber color ones as he smiled at her in a welcoming way.
"Why good morning, Sister Aki." The man greeted her.
"Good morning, Father Divine." Aki greeted him and turned her attention to the other two nuns. "Good morning, Sister Martha and Zora."
The two older women smiled at her. "Good Morning, Sister Aki."
"I'm sorry I'm late." Aki apologized.
"Oh it's fine, dear." Zora said. "We are just happy you are okay."
Aki raised her right eyebrow in confusion. "I'm fine…Why do you say that?"
The two older nuns had worried looks on their faces while Divine had a frown on his face.
"There was a murder last night." Divine announced as he broke the silence.
Aki gasped at the news that her co-worker said. "Wha…What?!"
"Apparently, two individuals were killed around the church area." Martha informed Aki. "Two men were found dead on the streets."
Aki's eyes widened like saucers, she remembered being around the area where the two men attacked her. She thought it was a dream but it turned out to be real. However, her thoughts went back to the mysterious stranger who saved her life. She remembered what he looked like yet she remembered that one red eye he had peering at her.
"You said two men, right?' Aki asked. "Was there anything else the news mentioned? Anything at all?"
"Yes, in fact they said that the two men were completely drained of blood." Divine finished.
Aki covered her mouth in shock after Divine said that to her. She also remembered that man biting her attacker's neck. Aki was sure she saw what happened. However, she did see that the person who saved her did suck his blood dry.
"It's horrible!" Zora cried. "Who or what could have done such a thing?"
"I'm not sure." Divine replied. "However, we must stay calm about this. We can't panic not while in church."
Martha and Zora nodded to him. While Aki was deep in her thoughts. Divine notice this.
"Are you alright, Aki?" Divine asked.
Aki stopped her thinking and turned to Divine with a confused look.
"Huh?" She said,
"I said are you, alright?" Divine asked again.
"Yes, I'm alright." Aki replied.
Divine looked at her with more concern and wanted to ask more. However he decided to drop it for now.
"Good." Divine said. "Well, I should be heading to my studies. If you need me I'll be in my office."
The three nuns nodded to him. Divine walked away as he headed for his office leaving Aki alone with Zora and Martha.
"Do you think…" Zora spoke. "Those murders could have been done by a vampire?"
Aki turned to Zora and looked at her with a surprised look on her face.
"A…Vampire?" Aki thought.
She did remember hearing stories about mysterious incidents that occurred around the city. Not to mention how there were some reports of mysterious appearances of giant bats and wolves. Aki also read about these creatures during her visit at the library.
"What nonsense!" Martha said. "There are no such things as Vampires. They are a myth."
"And how would you know?!" Zora argued. "Those attacks couldn't have been done by some animal!"
"You're being silly, Sister Zora." Martha taunted. "Besides you don't believe this nonsense, right Aki?"
Aki didn't respond as she was in deep thought again. She stood frozen like a statue as she recollected that event that happened last night. She also remembered before she fainted the look of her savior's face as he showed worry for her. Yet, she can't help but recognize that face as if she had seen it before.
"Sister Aki?" Martha asked. Still no response. "Sister Ak!"
Aki gasped and turned to Martha who had a concerned look on her face.
"Aki, are you alright?" Martha asked again in concern. "You dozed off again."
"Yes, I'm alright. I'm sorry." She apologized with a small bow.
"Oh don't worry." Martha assured her. "Besides, we should get ready for today. Besides, we need to prepare for our duties today."
Aki smiled and nodded 'yes' to her.
"Indeed." Aki replied.
The hours passed by as Aki did her usual duties in the church. Later, the twins visited her as they were worried for their big sister figure since they heard about the attacks. She assured them that she was alright but didn't tell them the whole story. Still, the twins kept her company and spent time with her until it became dark. Later, the twins headed home as they said their goodbyes to Aki. Aki was the only one left in the church as both Martha and Zora left.
Aki finished most of her duties and came to the cathedral to pray. She was in a praying position as her eyes were closed. Aki stayed like that for about an hour or so. Little did she know that someone was watching her from one of the church's windows. The person tried silently to open the window however as he opened it, it made a small creaking sound.
Aki heard it and stopped praying to see one of the windows open. She stood up from her position and walked towards the window to lock it. As she did, she noticed the window reflection and saw that someone was behind her. Aki gasped in fright and turned around to see the person that was behind her. In front of her stood the same man who saved her from those goons last night.
"Who…Who are you?" Aki asked. "What are you doing here? And how did you get inside here?"
The man didn't respond as he continued to stare at her. He slowly began to walk towards her. Aki noticed this and backed away slowly out of nervousness.
"Please…" the man spoke. "Don't be afraid. I'm not going to hurt you."
"How do I know you won't hurt me?" Aki questioned.
"Because I was the one who saved you last night, remember?" The man answered.
Aki did remember this man saving her from being raped. Yet, she still wasn't convinced by his words.
"Tell me something." Aki said.
The man stopped just a few inches in front of Aki. He stood still as he kept looking at her.
"Are you…Are you a vampire?" Aki questioned.
She was waiting for a response. The man sighed as he closed his eyes.
"Yes…" he replied.
Aki's eyes widened in horror at the man's answer. She couldn't believe that a vampire saved her life yet he didn't drink her blood. She wondered why he didn't drink her blood when she fell unconscious.
"Then why didn't you drink my blood?" Aki asked.
The man opened his eyes as they were now glowing blood red. Aki gasped as she held her cross between her hands. She got a little terrified. She started backed away slowly.
"Wait…please don't be afraid." He said in a somewhat sad tone.
Aki stopped and noticed the sad look on the man's face. She didn't know why but she felt a bit of sympathy for him. Aki slowly started to walk towards him, this time she was unafraid. She didn't know why but she found herself somewhat attracted to him. Aki stopped a few inches from him as she was now in front of him.
The man looked at her as his eyes changed from blood red to cobalt blue. Aki looked into the eyes of the man and thought he had the most beautiful eyes. The two gaze at each other for a moment. Their eyes reflected each other.
"Weren't you afraid of me just now?" The man spoke curiously.
Aki couldn't help but give a slight smile to him as she nodded her head 'NO'.
"I'm not afraid anymore." She replied. "Besides you saved me last night. Thank you."
He raised his eyebrow but later gave her a slight reassuring smile.
"You're welcome." He said back.
"Do you have a name?" Aki asked curiously.
"Fudo…Fudo, Yusei." He replied back.
"Well, Yusei. Thank you again for saving me." Aki said in a grateful tone.
Yusei's smile grew widely by her response. Aki didn't know but she felt drawn to him somehow as if she had met him before, somewhere. She noticed on the left cheek of Yusei that he had a yellow marker. Aki walked a little closer to the vampire and slowly raised her left arm. Yusei noticed this and was curious what the nun was doing. Aki gently touched the man's check with the marker on it, she felt he was cold. Yusei, still curious, didn't mind Aki touching his skin. Her fingers gently massaged his cheek.
"You're cold…" Aki said. Yusei couldn't help but chuckle at her remark.
"What can I say, I guess I'm cold as ice." Yusei teased.
Aki couldn't help but slightly giggle at his remark. She stopped touching his cheek. They stared at each other for a few minutes until…
"I have to go." Yusei announced.
He turned to leave but then he felt something grab his arm. He turned to look to see Aki holding his arm, she also had a look that she didn't want him to leave.
"Will…I see you again?" Aki asked.
Yusei turned away from her gaze.
"Maybe." Yusei replied.
"Oh" Aki muttered. She let go of his arm and held her cross again.
"Well, I hope to see you again. Soon." Aki said. "I would like to know more about you."
Yusei gasped at her words. She looked back at her and saw she had a smile on her face. He couldn't help but feel she had the most beautiful smile in the world. He smiled back and nodded.
"Then how about tomorrow night? Would that be okay?" He asked.
"That would be great!" Aki replied with delight. "See you tomorrow night, then."
Yusei nodded and quickly jumped out the window at supersonic speed. Aki saw that and quickly saw Yusei leaping on tall buildings at incredible speed. She couldn't help but be amazed. However, unbeknownst to her someone was watching the whole thing unfold. He saw everything and he was not happy with what unfolded. His olive eyes gave a menacing glare as he clenched his cross in a tight fist.
"I will not let you go near her again. You damn demon." Divine said with anger and determination.
Almaster2021: Well that's about it for this chapter. So yeah Yusei and Aki are starting to have feelings for each other but their love won't happen right away since I want to build up on the romance and such. Not to mention Divine is one of the antagonist in this story since he is a character we all love to hate and for good reason. Anyways, that about covers for this chapter. I'll see you all in the next one. Take care!
