The Octoling of The Squidbeak Splatoon

Prologue

By Mark The Gamer of Grima

Disclaimer: I do not own Splatoon nor its characters, the only characters I own are of my own creation

? POV

The first sign that I am still alive is the light shining through my mask. The second? The fact that I can feel my body…I have no idea how I lived through that, especially since it seems my last ditch effort to destroy all worlds failed, perhaps I should have ended those lover's games after all…

"Wait…" I said, before I started laughing maniacally. "This is perfect! Sure, the Heart I used can no longer be made, but because I've absorbed a bit of its power, I am able to destroy any world I'm currently in…the drawback is that the ability takes nearly a century to be used again, oh well, I will destroy this world at least, and hopefully I can find an alternate solution in the next world I visit!"

I flew up into the sky, no doubt drawing the attention of some of the locals, and I prepared to unleash the void onto the world! "A world goes down like a baby with its candy stolen, Ciao!" and with that, I use my dimensional teleportation to go to the closest world while the void destroys the world.

"Things are starting to get worse, the sea levels are rising, less land is available, and my people are starting to get rowdy, at this rate, war will be on our hands…" Said a humanoid looking guy with a samurai helmet

"I believe I can help with that." A voice said out of nowhere.

"Who's there?! Show yourself!" The man shouted.

"And so I arrive, like a sudden sandstorm overtaking a park!" a figure says as he becomes visible to the man while floating in the air.

"What the?! Who are you?! How did you do that?!" the man said.

"Ah ah ah, the only answer you will get is that you shall call me… D, just D." said the figure floating in the air. "In any case, I heard you are on the brink of war? I may be able to lend my services."

"If you can bring things to peace without violence, then go for it, if not, then get outta my sight, I have my Spicy Wasabi Beats to get back to." said the man as he turned to leave.

"On the contrary, I thrive on violence, and since it's clear that you won't cooperate, I'll have to use something I mastered on you."

"What are yo-BZZZZZRT!" Said the man, before he got zapped by the floating figure.

90 years passed since that point, and the Great Turf War has come and gone with the Octarians being pushed underground

? POV

White…white as far as the eye can see. To think this place used to be brimming with life, only now it's a white expanse, with some fragments of buildings as well…which are also white. Not even a single soul is in sight.

I arrived to this world because I sensed a disturbance, and I'm likely the first one here since my world is closer than the other gods' worlds. From the look of things, this world was sucked away by a void…but that's impossible, the Void should have disappeared!

"Eh?" I say, "What's this? There's something over there…" After moving for a closer look, I realized what this thing I'm looking at is. "Is this…a Human Soul?! How is this possible, a single human soul survives the void?!

After calming down, I realize I can use this to my advantage, after all, not long after I felt the disturbance here, I felt an intrusion between dimensions appear in the world I watch over, and seeing the state of this world, this Intruder likely doesn't have good intentions. Which is why I will rig this game in my favor, lest my own world gets destroyed.

"O Lone Soul that has survived the Void, I Beseech Thee, travel through the world I watch over, and destroy the enemy that threatens it. As I speak, they are moving pawns on the board that potentially will spell disaster for all worlds. I, Rumi, the Goddess of the Inklings and Octolings shall reincarnate you as an Octoling in order to combat this threat!"

Once this was said, the Goddess started chanting, and turned the soul into an male Octoling, unlike most male Octolings, his Tentacle Hair isn't a mohawk or an afro, instead, his hair looks like some of the standard female hairstyles. (1) His Eyes are two different colors, one of them is red, the other is green, and his primary hair color is azure blue.

"The transformation is complete, go now, young hero, and save this, nay, all worlds!" said the goddess before sending our hero to the world she watches over.

Octo Valley: Zone One

Octoling POV

Darkness…that's all I see, darkness everywhere…

"AHOY! OCTOLING!" a voice yells…who is that? I want to sleep.

"Up and at 'em, ya lazy wiffle-waffle!" the voice said, looks like I'm not getting anymore sleep, I sit up and yawn.

"I have no idea when or how you got here, but if you want a fight, you got one!" The voice, who I can see is just a weird looking old man, said. I tilted my head, not understanding what's going on

"Ah, but there's no honor in defeating an enemy who doesn't have a weapon…where is yours anyway? I don't see it around here." the old man said. I just tilted my head again, confused.

"Who…are you?" I finally managed to say.

"AH! That's right, I haven't introduced myself! I am Captain Cuttlefish, leader of the Legendary Squidbeak Splatoon!" the old man says proudly.

"Riiiight, well, I'm Mark, anyway, you called me an Octoling earlier…what's that?" I asked, confused.

The old man looks confused, "You're an Octoling, a race of Octopus that can take on a humanoid form."

This made my eyebrow rise, "You sure? Last I remember, I was Human" I said, still confused

"HUMAN?!" Cuttlefish yells, shocked. "You better not be lying, because Humans have been extinct for over 50,000 years."

"WHAT?!" I yelled, shocked at this revelation. I then look at the closest thing to a mirror to find out I'm truly not human anymore, I slump onto the ground, defeated.

I heard footsteps behind me. "The fact that you had such a reaction to humanity's fate, you must really have been human…but how is this possible?" Cuttlefish questions

"I don't know." I responded. "One day, I was just walking around, next thing I know, the ground shakes, and then everything goes white…" I responded in a sad tone, tears leaking out of my eyes.

"I…see, well, it's clear you have nowhere else to go, so how about you stay with me and my Granddaughters?" Cuttlefish offers.

"Why would you help me? You said I was your enemy a while ago." I responded, sniffling.

"That was before I knew you were human! And there's no way I'm letting someone your age live out in the streets!" he says with passion.

I smile, before taking his hand. "I would like to live with you guys then."

"In that case, off to Inkopolis!" Cuttlefish said, little did I know, this would be the start of a grand adventure

Mark TGoG: Hello everyone! Welcome to my new fic, I know I already have another story up that I REALLY need to be working on, but I figured why not do this? The idea has been stewing in my head for a while…

Grima: For once, I'm glad I'm not a part of the story you're making, I don't want to be associated with these creatures. Oh yea, some of you may have figured out who the first mystery character is…keep that a secret for now, yes?

Mark TGoG: Ok then, in any case, I don't have too much more time right now, so I will say this, enjoy the fic! Leave a review, and see you in the next chapter!

(1) I don't like the male hair styles for Octolings in Splatoon 2, so I'm going with a male Octoling that has the default hairstyle female Octolings have (from octo expansion, not the ones from hero modes)
