New York City, the Big Apple, the Concrete Jungle. A place that was a mixing pot of various peoples, famous landmarks and a multitude of heroes.
From the uppermost area of the Bronx to the separated mass of Staten Island. There were people abound in the main cities that all enjoyed their lives.
We see a woman, clad in gold and navy, standing atop one of the many buildings of New York. Clad in her tight costume, the snow settled around her. Glaring out at the city below.
She had shoulder-length black hair, wearing a yellow cowl with a blue domino mask, a blue bodysuit with a gold 'X' over her shoulders to her waist, and gold gloves and boots to contrast her sleeves and legs. She had a strong lean body with C-Cup breasts as she didn't seem to be bothered by the cold.
She was the Wolverine.
Laura Kinney, the clone daughter of Logan Howlett. He was the original Wolverine. And Laura... Has had a complicated life.
But now... Here she was. The new Wolverine. Sharing the name with her father.
She was currently in New York, tracking down an anti-mutant group. One was selling a power suppression drug, a highly addictive that would lead to heart failure within a week of consistent use.
She had to stop this group or that drug would be more dangerous to the populous than their racist views would care to see. She sniffed the air to try and catch the scent of the group, even though the smog and fumes of the city, she was going to track them.
...
And there was a familiar scent in the air...
"Spider-Man." She spoke.
"Hello, Wolverette, how ya doing?" A jokey voice asked from behind her.
Standing behind her, wearing a red and blue costume, he had red boots and gloves, blue leggings, a red 'belt' on his red and blue bodysuit shirt, and a red mask with white visor eyes with black edges. On the red parts of his costume were spider webbing and on his chest was a small black spider and on his back was a large red spider on a blue back.
"Spider-Man, I hope you aren't tailing me," Wolverine commented.
"You're in my hometown. I thought you needed help." Spider-Man responded. "I'm sure you're freezing out here. That outfit seems thinner than mine. Need a scarf?"
"I'm fine, thanks." She answered though the chill in the air was making her hold her arms close to her body for warmth.
floop
"There." Spidey smiled, dropping a large fuzzy jacket on top her. A red one with cliff-hanging around the hood and the end of the sleeves "Keep it. I got spares. So... What are we dealing with here?"
Wolverine held the jacket over her body and enjoyed the warmth she could feel through her costume, almost sniffing it to keep the warmth inside. "Anti-Mutant gang with power-suppressing drugs." She answered plainly. "Pretty basic things."
"Basic, right." Spidey chuckled "I'm guessing your plan was charge in, 'rawr!', stabby-stabby stab stab stab?"
"It's an effective strategy. They learn not to do it again." Wolverine answered.
"And there's the concern of cleaning up the bodies." Spider-Man deadpanned. "There are other ways you know."
"Then what would you suggest?" She asked.
"Knock 'em out, tie 'em up, wreck their shit and leave them for the cops?"
...
"Okay, that's a good compromise." She answered. "Follow me."
"You think you can find them?" Spider-Man asked.
"I've caught their scent." She responded.
"Through the smog, soot and cinnamon roasted chestnuts?" Spider-Man quipped.
snickt!
"Okay, point made." He answered, seeing her hand balled into a fist with a pair of silver claws coming through the back of her hand.
"Let's go." She responded, leaping from the rooftop.
"Right, boss lady!" He called out as he jumped down, following her as webbing shot out of his wrists.
Thwip!
Both Wolverine and Spider-Man swung and leapt through the tall buildings, Wolverine using her senses to follow the scent of the thugs who had the drugs.
But through the running, Wolverine...Laura, was getting the 'loudest' smell of the jacket she was wearing, Spider-Man's scent.
It was... A homely smell.
This was a smell she longed for, something she wanted; it was a hard life for her but she became a hero to do the right thing.
The smell was enough to actually make her blush.
"We're here." She spoke, ignoring those thoughts.
Both Spider-Man and Wolverine landed on a roof, looking at the location below. It was a boarded-off, nearly abandoned building that was cut off from New York's main city.
"It's always a boarded-up condemned building. I need to check this off my bingo card." Spider-Man quipped.
"Quiet." She commented.
"Yes ma'am." He saluted. "Hehe. This is reminding me of my last team-up with Spiderwoman." He quipped.
"Really? And how did that go?" Wolverine questioned...with the slightest bit of jealousy in her voice.
"She punched me in the face because of the Mandrill." He quipped again "And we grabbed hotdogs on the way back."
"...Oh." She blinked as she heard that. "I see."
"Yeah. She's not a big fan of my quips." He grinned with a shrug.
"Her loss then." She whispered.
"What was that?" He asked.
"Look." Wolverine pointed down as they saw a figure wielding an assault rifle come out from a door. 'Why... Was I jealous?' She wondered.
"Gotcha." Spidey smiled, sending a web line down... Before pulling himself down towards the figure.
Spider-Man hummed nonsensically to himself as he approached the thief and bound him quickly in his webbing.
It was quick, effective. Effortless even.
He gave a quick thumbs up over to her, signalling the way was cleared. "Try not to be all stabby." He asked as she quickly made it down to his side "Please? I know how your dad can be but... Yeah."
"Fine. No stabbing people." She responded, seeing the bound gunman. "However..."
STAB!
"Hnn!" The gunman whimpered in fear as he felt her claws...but didn't get hurt.
Shatter
"Do guns count?" She asked, breaking the rifle in the gunman's hands.
"...As long as you're careful." Spider-Man responded.
"Right." She nodded.
...
And kicked the door down, roaring as she charged inside.
Spider-Man saw this and shook his head. This *was* going to be a fight. "Alright, we're doing this now."
"What the hell was that?" A member of the group called out.
"Crap! It's Wolverine and the Spider!" The leader called out. "FIRE!"
"GRAAAAAA!" Laura roared, like an animal, as she started slashing. Using her claws to cut guns in half.
Spider-Man leapt forwards, using his webbing to bind the disarmed thugs and thwipped them towards the wall, binding them so they couldn't move.
It was a strange dance that the two began at that moment. The two heroes rush through the building and take down the hateful mobs.
The Wolverine, not worrying about Spider-Man. Striking all around her. Fast, ferocious. Striking and slashing. She was bolting around the room like a wrecking ball.
And the web-slinger jumping, flipping. Dodging the gunfire and Wolverine without effort. Like he was in tune with the universe, effortlessly flowing through its rhythm while striking around web blasts and physical strikes.
It was like the Dance Macabre, only without the blood and death. The two were perfectly in sync with each other.
It took no time at all.
Thirty minutes at most.
And then... They had won.
They had their victory.
"And you guys be good. The boys in blue should be here soon. They prefer I call them that name, by the way. Better than the garbage men." Spidey quipped "Hey, good work there Wolvie! ... Wolvie?"
Spidey stopped talking as he turned to look at Laura, who was looking through a side door. Her body still and clearly filled with shock and rage.
snickt!
"Wolvie?" He asked in concern as he soon saw her rage and slash the door open.
"RARGH! RAH-RAH! RARGH!" She roared out, carving the side door into shreds like paper.
"Wolvie!" He called out as the 'door' dropped into pieces of shrapnel...and saw tables and boxes filled with the power-suppressing drugs.
And a scared child huddled in the corner.
"Let go! I'm carving their faces off!" She snarled.
"No! No! It's enough! It's enough!" He called out, holding her back, trying to stop Laura from doing something she would regret. "The police are coming! They'll be punished!"
"That girl..." Laura hissed, the two super-human strengths clashing.
Peter looked where Laura pointed, there he saw a young girl, emaciated, with clothes barely hanging on her body, sunken eyes and shivering cold.
"These monsters... Doing that to a child!" She snapped.
"And if you kill them, they'll never get justice!" He snapped. "I get that your angry, I do. But..."
"But nothing! You've never been in her place!" Laura snapped.
...
A silence fell between the two.
...
She jerked herself out of his grip and stormed off, growling to herself.
"Hey! Wolverine! Wait!" Spidey called after getting over his shock. He quickly hurried over to the girl and wrapped her up safe, using all the blankets he could find, before swinging after the storming away mutant.
As the two fled the scene, the police immediately arrived soon after; not that Spidey or Wolverine cared right now.
Laura quickly got atop another building, almost ripping her cowl off as she took a deep sigh.
She revealed her face, showing her green eyes and full black hair, breathing slowly to calm herself down...and caught the scent of the jacket once again.
"God damn it." She whispered, letting out a deep sight as she heard the Spider landing behind her.
"Laura." Spidey spoke as he took off his mask, showing his brown hair and hazel eyes and his somewhat handsome face.
"What?" She asked, keeping her back to him as they stood there on the still snowy rooftops.
...
Peter Parker sighed, rubbing his hand against his forehead "I am... Really not good at this." He laughed "At comforting people about stuff like this. My life is so messed up that I... I don't really know what to say when I realise how bad others have had it."
"Yeah, you really don't." She frowned. "Those people deserve to die for what they've done!"
"I'd say killing them is letting them off easy." Peter countered "But even then. That's not what all this is about, is it?"
...
"I would have just gone in there, killing. Wouldn't have even tried a more peaceful option if you hadn't said anything." She grumbled. "Even after all this time. No matter how hard I try... I'm just that weapon they made. A tool. A killer. I try and be better but... Again and again I'm proving myself wrong."
Peter frowned as he walked toward her, no defences as he held her in a hug.
...
"What... Are you doing?" She asked, the 20-year-old blushing.
"Er... Hugging you?" He blinked "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncom-" he began, pulling back slowly.
"I didn't say stop." She responded simply.
Peter blinked and smiled a little, keeping the hug there as they stood on the cold rooftops.
Time ticked by as he just held her, sighing as he placed his head atop hers. She was surprisingly short, he noted. A fact that he had to admit, was kinda adorable. A factor that was further enhanced by her powerful muscles and explosive personality
'Like a chihuahua.' He thought, giggling to himself.
"What's so funny?" She asked as she pulled away and turned to him, the Wolverine cocking her hip as she frowned at the web-slinger.
"Um, Just...thinking about you." He didn't lie, but he didn't want to give anything away.
"Oh?" She asked with her eye twitching a bit.
Peter blinked, really taking in the woman's appearance right now.
From his sight, he could tell that she had a shapely strong figure, C-Cup breasts, toned muscles, and oval-shaped hips.
The way her hips were popped, her stance, the way she framed herself. And even the little pout she had. The wind blew her hair in the wind. She was honestly cute, beautiful, sexy...
"Hey, you're not actually a redhead are you?" He asked, for a moment wondering if she dyed her hair.
"What?" She asked
"Nothing." He laughed 'Get a hold of yourself Spidey. That's Logan's daughter. You don't date the friend's daughter. Especially when said friend has razor blades in his hands and has no concern about stabby-stabby.'
Laura looked at him with a confused tilt, but she could catch his body language just enough to make her come to a conclusion.
'Does... Does he find me attractive?!' she thought in shock, especially smelling the air.
"L-Laura. I..." He began to apologise.
"No." She answered, running her hand through her hair.
"Huh?" He asked.
"It's not dyed." She clarified.
"Oh... Right. Yeah, cool. Cool." He laughed "It's New Years, you know? Only a few hours left until next year. And... Well, Laura. I know things seem tough. Trust me, I've had that sort of mess happen to me again and again and again. But all that matters is you keep trying. Because if you try... Next year will be better than this. And that is all you can hope for." He encouraged
"Hmm." She frowned, acknowledging his words.
"Great! So..." Peter commented, slipping his mask back on. "You wanna... I don't know. Hang out? Grab a coffee? Dinner? We only got three hours before the chime."
"No."
"Oh." Peter frowned as he was a little disheartened. "More patrol?" He asked.
"Probably. Have a good night, Spidey." She commented, taking the jacket off and handing it back to him.
"Oh, right. Thank you. You too...Happy new year, Laura." Peter answered sadly as he took the jacket and saw her leave.
Laura stood there on the roof, looking up into the sky in thought as she watched him swing away.
Part of her was beating herself up. Why couldn't she have said yes? So few people treat her as a person, let alone a woman. Plus, a nice evening before New Year's would be perfect.
And the other side answered. How she didn't deserve it. How he was being nice. How his opinion would change of he spent significant time with her.
The raven-haired girl closed her eyes, holding back tears as she stood there in the cold.
Shivering...
Beep!
Beep!
Beep!
"H-Huh?" Laura blinked as she opened her eyes. An act that was strangely hard, like they had not been opened for several hours. The beeping she heard was loud and grating, digging into her skull. But she was surrounded... By the most silky-softness, she had ever imagined.
"Hmm...what happened?" She whispered to herself, holding her head. She felt the softness on her body, the feeling of it in her hand...and a strange warm location. It was a bedroom. 'Did? Did I crash in someone's house?' She looked around in confusion, seeing a chest of drawers, a walk-in wardrobe, and a door hanger with dressing gowns and slippers by the side of the bed.
She blinked as she instinctively held the bedding close to her body. Feeling the softness under her fingers... And blinking as she realised something. The fact she was only in a thong and a bra. Almost completely naked.
And then realising the fact, the last thing she remembered, was standing atop that building...
"Wh... Where am I? What happened?" She mumbled as she held her head.
Next to her, on a bedside table, she saw a still beeping alarm clock and pushed it off. "Good morning, Mrs Parker. It is currently 8:02 AM."
...
'Hold on, Mrs what?!' Laura thought as she almost jumped out of bed, stumbling a bit.
She looked at herself, holding her head...and felt something on her left-hand finger. A wedding ring. "Wh-what? I'm. M-married?"
Her head was reeling. What... what was going on?!
What... How?!
"What the hell is going on?" She asked herself.
"Laura? Laura, is everything okay?" A voice asked from outside the room.
She froze and looked behind her. As a man walked through the door.
Walking in, was a brown-haired man with hazel eyes, wearing a loose pair of blue lounging trousers and shirt, stretching a little as she saw his muscles through them. He was older...but there was no mistaking that scent. "Are you okay?" The man asked.
"P-Peter?" She asked in shock.
"Yeah?" He blinked, confused by her tone, as he approached her.
"Wh-what's going on? How are you-? You're...older." She whispered. "What's going on?"
"What?" Peter blinked as he walked closer "Laura, what are you talking about? Are you okay?"
"My head's been killing me. I don't know why." She admitted.
"Headaches? Your healing factor doesn't normally let those through. You're not pregnant again, are you?" Peter asked in worry, now inches away from her face as he pressed his hand against her forehead. His eyes filled with love and worry. Such deep, passionate emotions.
Laura felt herself being swept off her feet. Blushing and panting a bit. Until... 'Wait... What did he...'
...
...
...
"PREGNANT?!" she yelled, backing up "Me? Pregnant?! Wait... AGAIN?! What are you talking about?!"
"Ow! Fuck! Laura, not cool!" Peter grumbled as he held his ear "Right in my... Wait, what? I... Are you joking with me?"
"No, I'm not joking! What the hell is-?" Laura asked as she got to her feet.
But she stopped as the door opened again. As she heard a yawn and the padding of small feet. As she smelt a soft, gentle scent...
"Mama... You okay?" A small five-year-old boy asked as he walked into the room. He reminded her Peter, but he had dark hair. And as he brought his hand, which had been rubbing pixie dust from his eyes, he revealed he had her soft green irises.
"I... Mama?" She whispered.
"Ben, it's okay. Mama just isn't feeling well. Can you go check on your sister for us please?" Peter asked his son softly.
"Kay." The now-named Ben nodded... Before going across the room and hugging Laura's leg "Feel better mama."
Laura looked down at Ben, feeling a wave of warmth come over as she felt her son's hug before he left to check on his sister. It was familiar, gentle, and kind.
...
"Ben?" she asked.
"Ben Logan Parker. Our son." Peter frowned.
...
...
"I... am not from around here." she admitted.
Peter looked at Laura in worry, seeing how flustered and confused she was and embraced her. He looked into her eyes, resting his forehead against hers "Give it some time. I'll make breakfast. And we can talk after the kids head to school. Harry said he'd take them."
"Right, thank you." She whispered, feeling a little flustered as she smelt Peter's scent and held his warmth.
...
"Who's Harry?"
"Harry? Harry Osborn? My best friend?" Peter blinked "Ben's godfather? I ... Yeah, I can see it in your eyes. We need to talk."
Laura looked on in shock, realising that this might be the future. Wasn't Harry the Goblin or something? But Peter was being calm and kind right now, ready to listen.
Oh god. She felt so... So, lost.
She held her head as she was swimming in her mind...before the chill of the room was nipping at her, as she realised that she was still half-naked.
"Why was I-"
"You like the feeling of the silk." He shrugged and kissed her forehead "And it's not like it's something I haven't seen before, Mrs Parker."
Laura blushed and pushed Peter a little, getting up and going to her dressing gown. "Th-that is. Hmm!"
-snickt!
And her hand claws came out instinctively.
Peter saw this and knew Laura was upset, realising that this was overwhelming her and she needed time. "I'll get cooking." He smiled, walking past her. A hand instinctively reaching out and brushing against the small of her back. An instinctive, soft and supportive touch, before heading out.
Laura shuddered at that small gesture, not in a creeped-out way, but in a more exciting way. She felt her cheeks flush as she saw him leave...as she let out a squeak from her lips as she thought about this situation.
This...
It was all so weird.
So wrong.
It didn't make sense!
"Phone... I have to have phone. That should have some answers." She whispered to herself, hurrying around the room. If she was herself, where would she put her phone?
She tried to find it, as she soon saw a flat touch phone on the desk, plugged in and fully charged.
"Oh thank goodness." She sighed as she unplugged the phone, sitting on the bed...
...
And finding a lock screen.
"You've got to be kidding me." She asked herelf. "Locked? Don't these things have facial recognition or something?" As she swiped the phone's screen, she was brought to the number pad where the pass-number would be used.
"Okay Laura. Think. What would you use as a password." She whispered to herself.
...
...
...
"I hate myself." She mumbled as she typed four numbers.
1023
X23
She frowned as she saw her phone unlock itself, biting her lip.
As the phone was unlocked, she saw a picture of her and Peter in Central Park, smiling happily as they were looking at the phone's camera.
...
"This can't be real." She whispered to herself, going to her phone's gallery.
It started her at the most recent, both her and Peter swinging and leaping through the city of New York; then the next ones, a week ago. She and Peter were with their kids at a family restaurant, it looked loud, and they were excited. Next, a month ago, when the two were out at the beach, Laura wearing a scandalous-looking bikini while Peter was sleeping on a towel, with another picture was of the kids making a sandcastle.
More and more pictures like that. The family together and having fun.
Nothing really gave her much information.
...
But she did blush as she reached one from a few months ago. One Laura had taken of herself in her Wolverine costume. Crouched down, back to a mirror. A picture clearly meant to show off her ass. A picture she has clearly done to send to Peter, apparently.
"En... Enough of that." She mumbled and closed that all. Going to the calendar, to look up any important dates recently.
[17th: Ben's first dentist appointment.]
"No, that doesn't help." She muttered as she went back.
[24th: Grandpa Logan visits]
"Good to know he's still alive...but 'grandpa'?" She asked herself, thinking of Ben and her daughter calling her hardened father 'grandpa' just brought a smile to her lips.
She needed to flick back, older.
...
Wait, what was that year?!
What was the...
December 31st... 2032?!
"T-Ten years? I-I'm ten years in the future?" She let out an audible gasp as she almost dropped her phone.
On one hand, it did make sense. On the other, having a date...
It made it feel more real.
It wasn't a dream, she could feel the touch of Peter, the chill and warmth in the room. The hug from her son...it was real. She couldn't deny that.
"Oh god..." she sighed, hugging her gown tightly against herself.
This was her future. A future that she was with Peter, she had a family. She was warm and safe.
...
"I'm gonna fuck it all up. I don't belong here. I..." She mumbled to herself doubtfully.
What if one of them was doused with Trigger Scent?
What if she ruined everything while she was here, trapped in her older self's body?
WHY was she here?!
What was going on?!
Is she even here, or did she just get amnesia over the last five years... SOMEHOW!
She didn't know!
She grabbed her hair in frustration as she was running through all these negative scenarios; how could she of all people be given happiness?
"Mama?" A soft voice asked. It wasn't Ben... It was an even cuter one.
Laura turned around, seeing a three-year-old girl wearing a yellow onesie, short black hair, green eyes, chubby little cheeks and carrying a blankie with a bunny stitched onto the fabric.
"I... Hi... Sweetheart?" Laura asked, feeling warmth in her chest as she looked at the child.
"Mama." The little girl waddled over as she wanted to reach up and hug her.
Laura reached down and grasped the girl, holding her just under the arms, and lifting the three-year-old up. She grunted a bit, grinning gently at the effort she had to put into it.
"You okay?" The little girl asked as she patted Laura with her blankie.
"I...I'm." Laura whispered as she was about to answer.
"Sarah? Where are you?" Ben asked as he was looking for her.
"Sarah?" Laura asked curiously.
Sarah looked up at Laura with a smile, giggling as she heard her mother say her name.
That giggle causes Laura to smile, unable to help herself.
Her mother's name was in the family again. She couldn't believe it.
"Dad, Sarah's with mummy." Ben called out and informed his dad.
"That girl. She cannot sit still." Peter groaned, walking inside with slight annoyance.
Laura slowly got up, still holding Sarah in her arms. She looked at Peter and Ben, her lip quivering from this feeling of being a mother.
"Hey." Peter smiled "Breakfast is ready!"
"Really?" Laura asked, sniffing.
"I made pancakes." He grinned.
*Time skip*
...
"Blueberry?" Laura asked, poking her food with her fork.
"Yeah, your favourite." Peter smiled "Well, that or banana. But you're definitely more stressed than sad."
'How can he read me so well?!' Laura thought in irritation... "I've never had this before." She commented.
"It's a staple breakfast when we've had a heavy night." Peter explained.
"Hmm~! Yummy!" Ben cheered as he bit into his pancake stack.
"Num, num, num." Sarah loudly bit into her cut-up pieces.
Laura raised her eyebrow, blinking a bit as she took some on her fork... And brought it to her lips
...
...
"Delicious." She whispered.
"Daddy, you make the best pancakes!" Ben cheered.
"They're your Great Aunt May's recipe. She taught me everything about them." Peter answered. "Them and wheat cakes."
'May Parker's famous wheat cakes? Seriously?' Laura thought as she ate the pancakes and was enjoying them with a raised eyebrow, a sarcastic 'tone' to her thoughts.
"How are they, Laura?" Peter asked as they ate.
"Delicious." she repeated.
"What are we doing today, Dad?" Ben asked.
"Well, we've got a full day today. It's New Years." Peter answered. "Your Uncle Harry is going to be here soon, to take you to school."
"Yeah!" Ben cheered.
"School? But it is New Years?" Laura asked.
"Oh, it's not a normal school." Peter explained "It is the Future Foundation. They basically run a daycare for kids of heroes, teaching them about the multiverse and keeping them safe and whatnot."
"Will we see Valeria?" Sarah asked.
"Yes, Sarah. Valeria and Franklin will be there." He reassured as he gave his daughter a pat on the back.
"It sounds like you've got a full day." Laura admitted.
"Yeah, they do. And... gives us time. They'll be gone until four. We can pick them up." Peter responded.
"R-Right." Laura answered, looking at her pancakes as she felt a little flustered.
But she needed answers.
She needed them to figure this situation out. But right now, she could at least -play- the role of a mother and wife.
For the kids at least.
As the family finished up their breakfast, the kids were getting ready while Laura was sitting in the living room and saw some pictures of her and this family.
'God, I look happy in this.' She thought to herself before shaking her head. 'What am I thinking?'
She saw herself facepalming next to Peter, who had ice cream on his head. A laughing Ben on his shoulders, the young boy having dropped the ice cream that landed atop Peter's head. And Sarah was sat in a small chair before Laura, chewing on a teething ring.
...
But Laura saw herself smiling in the picture.
It was such a goofy scene, seeing this family so happy...and she felt a warmth within her heart.
Was this... Really her future?
Is this what was going to happen to her?
"Mummy, are you ready?" Sarah asked through the doors.
"Huh? Oh, yeah I-" she blinked, turning to look at the girl... And freezing as she saw how adorable the three-year-old looked.
Sarah was wearing a cute set of blue overalls, a striped yellow shirt and a small hair clip in her hair.
What was this throbbing in her heart?
"Mama, you're still in your PJ's." Sarah giggled.
"Huh? Oh. Yeah, I am." Laura answered, looking down at herself. She chuckled a bit, and hearing Sarah giggle lit a fire in her heart.
"Dad, mum's not ready yet." Ben called out.
"It's okay." Peter answered. "Don't worry, come on Sarah."
"O-Okay." Sarah nodded as she went to her father.
Laura watched as she saw them leave...before going to them.
"Mummy?" Sarah asked.
"What's wrong?" Ben followed up.
The answer was a kind of awkward hug from the Wolverine. "Have fun, okay?"
"Okay!" Sarah grinned and hugged back.
"Okay mum, don't worry." Ben laughed nervously.
The two kids headed to the door where Laura saw Peter waiting.
"So, you both all ready?" Peter grinned.
"Yes, daddy." The two answered as Peter lead them outside.
As the door opened it revealed... a man. Harry Osborn.
Harry had greying brown corn-row hair, and blue eyes; wearing a blue sweater-vest over a green button shirt and blue jeans. He looked to be in his late forties with some crow's feet around his eyes. "Hey, Parker Family."
"Uncle Harry!" The kids cheered as they saw him.
"Oh, look out, here comes trouble." Harry joked as he picked both of them up. "Hey Pete, Laur, you two good?"
"Yeah, Har; we're good." Peter answered.
''Laur'?' She thought to herself. "Yeah, just...weird night."
"Hey, I'm not one to judge. Let's go munchkins." Harry shrugged.
"Okay, bye mummy, bye daddy." The kids waved as they left with their uncle.
"We'll be back to pick you up." Peter waved back, with Laura waving too.
"Bye, bye!" The two responded as they went with Harry to the Future Foundation.
click
And the door... Closed.
"Okay." Peter sighed as he turned to Laura "What is going on? Because you don't seem to remember... Anything about our family. But you were fine last night."
"I don't know." She frowned "I've looked at things in my... our room. I saw the date. The last I remember was Decent 31st... Ten years ago."
"Ten years ago? Before we became a couple. Six months before... That happened." Peter mumbled, letting out a deep sigh. His body let out an instinctive shudder "When I first asked you out and you turned me down." He added with a laugh
"You remember that?" Laura flinched as she heard Peter reveal their past.
"We tend to joke about it." He shrugged with a smile.
"That was literally the last thing I remember. You swinging off after." She sighed.
Peter walked to the living room and patted the couch. "Yeah, I remember that. It was kind of embarrassing for me at that point. I thought you didn't like me."
"I... Er... I kind of... Did?" She mumbled as she sat next to him, hugging her gown closer.
"Really? I thought you were mad at me." Peter admitted.
"Mad at myself." She mumbled.
"Oh. Right. Haven't gone to therapy yet." Peter hummed.
"I got therapy?" Laura double-took.
"Hmm, you did. It took a while, but you made great progress. And found a therapist who you worked well with." Peter answered.
"It really helped when you had a...Self-harm relapse. Blaming yourself for Ben being kidnapped when he was much younger."
"Ben was-?" She asked in shock, reacting on instinct as she heard that part of her 'past'. "How did he-?"
"How was he kidnapped? Sabretooth. You clawed his face off. He was working with Hobgoblin." Peter explained.
Laura put her face in her hands, horrified that it happened, realising that she couldn't protect her-Ben. But why did Sabretooth take him? And why work with Hobgoblin? "Wh-why? Why did that happen? Just to get to us?"
"Yeah." He shrugged "Well, Sabretooth was doing it to get at Logan. And the last time I had fought Hobby before that, the whackjob nearly killed me. So, you kinda kicked his ass bad, humiliating him. So, it was a win-win. Luckily Kaine and Ben were able to help you get our son back."
"Jesus...I just ruin-"
"Don't say that." Peter spoke, holding her hand. "It's not your fault. You don't 'ruin everything'." He knew where she was going with that mindset.
He held her hand with one of his, the other bolding her head softly. Their foreheads touched as he looked caringly and supportive into her eyes. His eyes filled with warmth and gentleness.
'How did you fall for a monster like me?' She thought tenderly as she shuddered from the warmth and began to choke back tears.
"Ssssh. Sssh. Don't cry beautiful. It's okay. I'm here." He rushed, massaging the hand he held with his own "I'm here."
"Thank... Thank you." She stuttered out "Who... Who are Kaine and Ben?"
"Who are... Oh, right. We didn't know each other back then." Peter smiled "God... Ten years. Just gone."
"I'm sorry." Laura mumbled as she began to pull away.
"It's alright. It's a lot to take in." Peter admitted. "They're my clones. But it would be more appropriate to call them my brothers."
"I... Clones? Brother" she asked softly, confused.
Peter began to regale Laura with his history with a former college professor who was obsessed with cloning him and his former girlfriend.
Kaine was his first attempt, a failed clone who was out for vengeance against Peter and was more violent than him.
Ben was the more 'perfect clone', so much so that both thought they were the *real* Peter Parker. But over time, Ben was revealed as the clone.
And both of them had taken up the moniker of the 'Scarlet Spider'.
"Wow...I thought my family's clone trauma was bad." She admitted.
"You said that before too." Peter chuckled a little.
"Ten years... How could I lose ten years?" Laura asked. "And overnight? And why just that? Why not all of it? Peter... What if this happens again?"
"I don't know. But I won't let it happen. As long as I'm here, I'll keep being there for you." Peter reassured.
"Just like I vowed all those years ago when I gave you this ring." He commented as he gently held her hand, his thumb brushing her wedding ring "You are my world, Mrs Parker. I'm not letting you go that easy."
...
"Have I ever said you are so cheesy I feel like I need a bottle of wine?" She commented with a slight grin.
"Many a time." He grinned... And instinctively kissed her.
Laura gasped, her eyes widening at the kiss.
In a flash, Laura could feel the primal attraction towards Peter, the feeling her body had experienced many times over the years.
She almost tackled him against the couch, her eyes closing as she moaned out. Kissing him with passion.
"L-Laura?" He gasped as he felt her passion come through, the light of his life and mother of his children seemed to be back.
...
"Oh god, I'm sorry!" She gasped, jumping back "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! I don't know what happened to me!"
"It's fine. It's alright." Peter reassured.
"No, it's not! I was taking advantage of-!" Laura answered, before being stopped.
"Laura. It was kissing." He chuckled "Me kissing my wife. I was kissing you first and you got into it. You think we haven't done that, or worse, before? I KNOW I haven't got to explain the birds and the bees to you."
Laura felt flustered but also excited because of this. She could...be herself.
But still. She...
"You want answers?" Peter asked as he stood up, beginning to take his shirt off.
"Yes, I-Abs..." She answered looking at him as she saw him remove his shirt and was mesmerised.
"Wow, were you always that easy to impress?" Peter chuckled as he walked towards their bedroom "Good thing -that- suit was repaired."
"Which 'suit'?" She asked, curious as she followed.
Peter soon emerged from their bedroom wearing a spider suit unlike Laura had ever seen!
It was a solid navy-blue suit that covered his entire body, a skin-tight suit that hugged every curve and muscle. On his chest was a metallic golden spider, its eight legs going off in four directions in sets of two. Four of the legs going up and crossing over his collarbone and over to the back, while the other four went down his side and curled around his waist. The eyes of the suit were solid gold, with no real edges.
The suit had some golden accents on his firearms, basically slabs of metal as simple lines running down the forearms. And finally, there was a white, almost see-through, fabric on his armpits. Connecting his upper arm to his chest, folds of fabric almost seemed like that of a flying squirrel.
"Oh. My god." She whispered in shock as she saw it, looking at Peter's costume and seeing how snug it fit his frame.
"Huh? Laura, what's wrong?" Peter asked.
"This costume, where-? How did you make it? It's...really good." She admitted.
"Eh. You actually had it made for our anniversary last year." He admitted, "Been my main one ever since."
"Really? I...I must have had some good inspiration." She looked at him, putting her hand on his peck.
"I guess." He chuckled, rubbing his neck.
Laura leaned in a little closer and felt the material, it was almost like her own costume. But she felt her heart thump louder and louder as she heard his...and thoughts began to fill her mind.
Thoughts of being held, arms looped around her. Around her waist, or under her legs. Moving her up and down, feeling that impressive bulge deep inside her ...
"Babe. We can do that later." Peter chuckled with a soft grin, kissing her forehead.
"Sorry, this is like the only thing that I can focus on that is normal." She admitted.
"What do you mean?" He asked, a hand gently rubbing her shoulder.
"I. Might've...caught your physique while we fought those times." She answered.
...
"Were you staring at my ass?" He teased, patting her backside "Hurry up and get changed. We should head out."
"Right...Where's the-"
"Next door to our bedroom." Peter pointed with a smirk. "In the closet."
"Thank you." She nodded, rubbing her backside a bit as she walked off into the bedroom.
*Time Skip*
Laura was now dressed in some of the clothes that she had from her wardrobe, it was honestly a shock to see that she had *this* sort of fashion sense.
She was wearing her classic Wolverine costume, glad she had that in there, but she was amazed at the fashion sense she apparently had.
"Going for the classics?" Peter asked as he saw her with a smile.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked.
"Nothing bad, I assure you." He answered, hugging her around the side. "Now, ready to go swinging?"
"Think you can carry me?" She asked.
"I'm not that bad, yet." He smirked as he slipped on his mask. "Now, Ms Parker, are you ready for a ride?" He grinned.
"Yes." She answered as she walked towards him and he looped his arm around her.
-THWIP!
"Whoa!" She called out as she was jerked forwards and swung through New York.
Or... What she thought was New York.
All the buildings were made of a sleek material, with such amazing lights and technology everywhere.
"Whoa! Wh-what's happened to New York?" She asked as she looked around, seeing the technological marvel around the sights.
"Ten years advancement, that's 'what's happened'." He answered. "One mad man tends to cause that to happen! Also, haven't heard that name in a bit. You're in Neo York now, Wolverine."
"'Neo'-? Who comes up with these names?" She deadpanned as they flew. "...It's kind of bright. A lot of chrome."
"Blame Stark. He helped the rebuild using a new, super durable metal." Peter shrugged.
'I need to have a word with him.' She thought to herself as she felt the wind blow through her hair, before turning up to Peter and felt like she was flying and she was safe.
Especially as he pulled her closer, the two rushing around a corner.
"I noticed you haven't asked where we are going. Or what the 'one mad man' line was about." Peter commented, shifting Laura's weight as he ran across a wall before springing off if to continue swinging.
"Huh? Right, sorry. Yeah, who are we going and where was the-? I mean-! You know what I mean." She responded, fumbling her words, feeling his hand slip between one section of her side to her hip.
"I forget how cute you are when you get flustered. I rarely get wins like this. Feels great!" Peter grinned, doing a spin in mid-air so he could look her in the eye, before shooting off another web-line.
"Stop showing off." She huffed.
"Alright, if you want, Mrs Parker." He chuckled.
"Hmmm." She mumbled, blushing brighter.
Peter noted this, smiling to himself as he could tell the blush was on her cheeks as he swung through the chrome concrete jungle and landed on the top of a building.
"You have reached your destination, please tip your driver with kisses and we hope you enjoyed your ride." Peter joked.
"Where are we?" She asked, ignoring his remarks.
"Avengers Tower." He responded "We should have a look in your head, see if there is any tech embedded in your skull or on your brain that could have caused this. Or a parasite. And check with magic, see if that's involved somehow. Erasing your memories and all."
"As long as it's not invasive," Laura mumbled as she stepped off with Peter. "So, who's on the roster *now*?"
"Er... Us..." Peter listed off.
"*We're* Avengers?" She asked, almost slack-jawed as she heard that. "What, did Jameson's smear campaign fall through *finally*?"
"That happened seven years ago." Peter casually brushed away. "Plus, I've been an Avanger before. Before we even met even!"
"I... You're right. I never really paid attention back then." Laura admitted "To any of the other heroes or their messes."
"It's alright, heck, Logan was always brooding about 'he's always alone'." Peter joked. "But he's not alone."
"You're right. He was on, like, four or five different teams at once."
"Let's head in." Peter asked, escorting Laura inside because this would be a bit of 'future shock' for her.
He opened a window, gently leading her inside.
"Is this legal?" Laura joked.
"I come through here all the time, they know it's me." Peter answered.
"That we do, Spider-Man and Wolverine. However, you reported you would not be in this week for me 'family time'. What, pray tell, brings you here?" A sophisticated voice asked with a serious tone, the voice has a slight synthetic augmentation to it. But the voice was familiar...
snickt!
"Doom!" Laura snarled as she popped her claws pit.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Laura! It's okay!" Peter stopped her before she did anything hasty. "Sorry Vic, we've got an... Issue. Needed yours' and the others' help, Iron Man."
"Iron... What?!" Laura gasped as the figure emerged themselves to the two of them, walking around the corner.
"Sorry Vic, we've got an... Issue. Needed yours and the others help, Iron Man."
"Iron... What?!" Laura gasped as the figure emerged to the two of them, walking around the corner.
The figure was in solid titanium silver body armour, with green under-suit material by the joints, a glowing white elongated hexagon in the centre of his chest, two circular lights between his shoulders, a terrifying plain face mask with glowing green eyes, and a glowing dark woodland green cape with a cowl that covered the head and went down to his armoured feet.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Victor Von Doom is Iron-Man?" Laura asked in shock. "How?"
"Your wife seems surprised, Spider-Man. I thought that we all came to terms with this years ago." Victor asked.
"It's been a weird morning." Peter explained.
"Hmm...I see." Victor responded calmly. "Very well, please follow me into the laboratory. We can converse there."
"Yeah, Viccy here is our tech and magic expert. And as much as he wishes, he is NOT the leader of the team so you can calm down." Peter told Laura with a teasing poke to her cheek.
"I heard that, Spider-Man. And I believe we talked about you calling me 'Viccy'." Victor answered slightly sternly.
"What? Is Victor the Sorcerer Supreme along with being Iron Man?" Laura asked, pouting a little because of the poke.
"No, but Doctor Strange is too busy to do anything BUT deal with the magic realm BS nowadays. Can't spare time to help." Peter explained.
"Why are you explaining this to your wife?" Victor frowned as he continued his walk down the halls of the tower.
"Well, that's what we're here for. Laura's mind is...well. She can't remember anything from the past ten years." Peter explained.
"Hmm, elaborate." Victor asked as they entered the lab. "Sit here, please." He asked Laura.
"When I awoke this morning, the last thing I remember is December 31st 2022." she explained.
"Ten years to the day? That is not right on any level." another familiar voice to Laura spoke. A slight British accented, upper-class voice.
"Frost." Laura frowned.
Walking into the room, Laura saw one of the X-Men's oldest allies and villains.
"Is that any way to talk to your stepmother?" the blonde commented as she walked into the room with a sway of her hips, showing herself off as she entered the lab.
Emma Frost, blonde-haired, E-Cup with porcelain white skin, blue eyes, wearing a white bustier and cloak, white gloves and long white leather trousers with high stiletto heeled shoes.
"St-step? Ste-ah!" Laura groaned as she lay flat on the table, she was overwhelmed. This future was too much for her.
"Laura!" Peter caught her before she hurt herself...not that it would be a problem, but he as being very protective of her.
"Oh, dear. Did she pass out?" Emma huffed, pouting. But her eyes sparkled with mischief.
"Do not disturb my work, Frost." Doom frowned.
"Well, Victor, it appears a member of our team is having some rather large issues. So we should probably wait for her to awaken." Emma frowned.
"Ladies, please. You're both pretty. Laura's just having a hard time acclimating to the past ten years that she's lost." Peter frowned.
"Well, then we should gather the entire team." Emma responded.
"Are you sure they won't be busy?" Victor asked.
"I'm sure that Carol and the others can find some time to help our team member," Emma answered. "Besides, this might just be the thing she needs to help ease that process."
*time skip*
Laura groaned as she was waking up, this shock of various Avengers in the tower made her brain unable to process it...but with time passing, she held her head and slowly began to understand. But it didn't mean that she didn't like it.
She sat up, mumbling to herself as she looked around the room.
It was clean, a comfortable room with a large bed, personal shelves, a wardrobe for spare costumes and a training area big enough for acrobatics.
'Is this a spare room? It looks like Black Widow's.' She thought to herself as she looked around.
"Hello?" She called out.
"Good afternoon, Wolverine." A disembodied voice spoke calmly.
"Wait, JARVIS?" Laura asked
"Correct, if you are wondering where your husband and the Avengers are, they are in the living room." JARVIS answered.
"And... Where is that?" She asked.
"Through these doors, take an immediate left and it's straight ahead, Wolverine." JARVIS answered politely.
"Oh...thanks." She answered, following the instructions and walked to the living room where Peter, Victor and Emma were...along with the rest of the Avengers.
She blinked, looking around the room in wonder.
It was more homely than before, having the whole tower feel more like a lavish mansion than anything...but it was still the headquarters of the Avengers.
"Yo claw-girl!" A man engulfed in flames grinned and waved.
Standing before Laura was a man about six feet tall, burning red and orange flames, a ner featureless face with only black outlines of eyes and his mouth, almost like they were scribbled on.
"Hi, Johnny." She spoke calmly as she saw him, hearing that cocky voice again.
She remembered him. From the times she babysat Franklin and Valeria Richard's over the years.
"Glad to know you still remember me." Johnny chuckled as he flew next to the other Avengers.
Laura saw the rest of them, the Avengers of the Future.
She saw a blonde-haired woman wearing a red topped blue bodysuit with a golden clasp around her chest, red gloves and boots and a long red sash around her waist. This was Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel.
Next was a young black man with short black hair and brown eyes, wearing a black bodysuit with a red inverted triangle symbol that went down to his naval with red webbing and a red spider in the centre of his chest and red fingers on his gloves. This was Miles Morales, Laura knew this was another Spider-Man, one that Peter helped train some time ago.
And lastly, wearing a black body armour suit, orange armoured kneecaps, orange long thigh guards, rounded pauldrons and see-through bee-like wings; was a young woman with pixie-cut brown hair, brown eyes and leaning back in the chair.
One... Laura did not recognize.
"Nadia Pym, the Wasp. Hank Pym's daughter from his marriage, from before he was Ant-Man." Carol answered.
"Oh, hi." Laura spoke as she saw them. "This looks like an intervention." She joked lightly.
"Not a malicious one, I assure you." Emma responded as she looked at her stepdaughter.
Johnny turned to the couches and turned off his flames, showing that he was a handsome man with blonde hair, and blue eyes, wearing a blue and white suit with a black number '4' on his shoulder.
"We're just making sure that you're okay with this brain scan of yours. Peter's been great explaining it." Miles commented.
"Oh, I suppose that saves time hearing it again." She responded sarcastically.
"It seems that your attitude hasn't changed." Carol quipped.
"Thanks, I guess." Laura answered.
"So, you only remember stuff from ten years ago? But you're still you." Miles asked.
"Basically, yes." She nodded.
"Phew, then you don't remember that one time." Miles sighed in relief.
"What happened?" Laura asked, confused by what Miles was talking about.
"Wardrobe malfunction." Johnny chuckled, recalling the event. "Ah, that gave the villains something to talk about."
"For you maybe." Victor glared.
"Awww, I didn't know you were so self-conscious Doom." Johnny said with a 'friendly' grin.
"Now, now, break it up." Carol frowned.
Victor leaned back in his chair as Johnny just shrugged.
"Laura, we're going to try and help." Nadia spoke.
"Okay." Laura nodded, looking at Peter for a moment. When he smiled and nodded, she removed her cowl and let out a soft sigh.
"I will be first." Emma commented as she approached Laura and sat in a chair. A chair set opposite her for Laura to sit in "A basic telepathic reading first."
"Alright...but don't look too deep." Laura asked as she sat in the chair.
"I won't look into any private moments. Your father already told me them anyway." Emma smirked as she placed her hands on Laura's temples.
"Okay. THAT is something we need to talk about First." Laura hissed.
Emma sighed as she removed her hands. "Alright, what is it? What do you want to know?"
"How are you my stepmother? Last time I checked, the X-Men left for an island paradise and people hated you! How did that get you with my dad?" She snapped.
Well. Jean, Logan, Scott and I decided to say, 'screw it'. Krakoa is its own nation. And we have our own laws, our own views of relationships and such." Emma explained "No homophobia allowed, and many more relationships being acceptable. So the four of us decided to put the drama aside and... Well, a few years later there was a four-way wedding."
Laura could swear she heard her brain 'snap' as she heard that revelation, frozen as she heard that. "Urgh..."
Flump.
She fell face first on the chair.
"AGAIN Emma?" Peter groaned.
"What? She asked." Emma answered as she positioned Laura into a comfortable position and began to scan her mind.
Laura sighed as she was still lying on the chair and felt her head being gently touched as it was scanned. One of the benefits of Emma's technique was that she had soft hands.
Emma's powers scanned through all of Laura's mind and memories. Being a powerful telepath allowed her to do this with ease.
'Hmm, there's...nothing weird.' She thought to herself as she looked at Laura. "Why is there nothing here?" Emma asked in shock.
"What?" Peter asked in worry.
"I can't. Whatever this is, it's not telepathic, there are no mental blocks, no psychic remnants of tampering...this is all Laura." Emma answered.
"Then maybe it's scientific?" Nadia offered.
"Hmm...Great." Laura groaned as she held her head, having come back from that shock of hearing Emma, Jean, Scott and Logan were all married together.
"Don't worry, your siblings will be happy to see you when you're better." Emma commented.
"... Siblings?" She asked.
"We've had three children since we got married." Emma explained "Ruby, from Scott and myself. Katie, from Logan and Jean. And Joseph, from myself and Logan. Jean and Scott thought they had enough children from alternate timeline shenanigans."
"Oh god...yeah, that's right." Laura groaned and knew. "They have like... What, five?"
"More or less...and a granddaughter," Emma answered. "Debatably. Nadia, can you check now?"
"Of course, if Laura is able too." Nadia responded.
"Sure. Whatever the reason if it's not psychic." Laura responded. She rubbed her temples, grumbling under her breath.
"Very well. This won't take a moment." Nadia answered. "I just need to go to the lab to grab something. I assume that you know where the lab is?"
"We went there before this, Nadia." Peter responded.
"When she was awake." Johnny pointed out. "You might want to lead her from here to the lab."
'I have brothers and sisters?' Laura thought to herself, thinking about that revelation. "Just...do what you need to do. Please."
"Come on." Nadia nodded, leading Laura through the building.
"I'm sorry that this happened to Laura, Peter." Miles apologised, though it wasn't his fault.
"It's okay, I mean...I don't know what else we can do." Peter answered.
Laura was led by Nadia through the corridors and to the lab, where the table had a pillow set up and ready.
"Comfy." Laura joked.
"Sorry, I sleep in here sometimes." Nadia continued it with a small smirk.
"It's fine." she nodded.
"Alright, just sit on the table, and I'll activate the scanner for any foreign technology that might be implanted in your brain." Nadia answered.
"It won't hurt will it?" Laura asked.
"Oh, no." She shook her head. "Just a bright light for the most part."
"Great." Laura sighed.
Nadia went to a computer and booted up the systems, she was going to find what was wrong with Laura. "Alright, I need you to be still for this. This is essentially a CAT Scan."
"Good thing I can't get cancer." She joked.
"Heh, that's true." Nadia answered with a jovial tone. "Let's get started!"
"Right." Laura blinked.
Laura lay back on the table, closing her eyes while the CAT scan went over her brain and scanned her for any technological means that could have altered her mind.
She was just... Thinking. Thinking about what happened in the last ten years. Guilt for missing those things filling her.
She did not remember her first date with her husband.
She did not remember her wedding.
She did not remember her children's births.
Their first steps.
Their first words.
Their first birthdays.
She didn't even remember she had SIBLINGS!
Her fists slowly clenched, the black-haired woman holding back the urge to pop her claws.
Nadia noticed this, seeing Laura's slightly shaking body as she wanted to run out in a rage, but also worried that this was part of the technology that may have been implanted.
"The scans done." She mumbled.
"Wow, didn't take long. So...is it a microchip? Techno Brain-Worm? Did someone slip me a Carbonadium implant? What is it? What?" Laura asked.
"...Nothing. Your brain. Nothing." Nadia answered. "Nor in your entire body. No technology is inside your body. Your brain chemistry is how it should. No medical or technological tampering has happened at all."
"Urgh...This is bullshit!" Laura growled as she slammed her fist into the table. "Why?"
"Don't get mad at me, Wolverine!" Nadia answered.
"I'm not! I-I just. I want answers." She admitted, getting more disheartened with each stammer. "I want to understand my life..."
Nadia sighed understandingly and patted Laura's shoulders. "It'll be alright, we've still got Victor. And we'll give you as much time as you need."
"Not much, the kids are at the Future Foundation and probably waiting for us to pick them up." Laura answered.
"Ah, the FF don't need pick up until five. It's only about 1." Nadia assured.
"Really? Jeez..." Laura sighed heavily as she held her head.
"Yep! Plenty of time!" The wasp giggled.
"I just need five minutes or something before this next test." Laura asked. "My whole life is turned upside down."
"I'm so sorry." Nadia repeated, but left the room.
Laura sighed and held her head, she didn't want to be left alone...but she wanted someone to be with.
knock, knock.
"Hey, mind if I come in?" Peter asked through the door.
"If it's you? Yes." She responded.
"Cool." He smiled, walking inside. "How're you feeling?"
"Scared. Worried. Concerned." She admitted. "I'm worried that I've stolen your Laura's place."
"Laura is Laura. You're my wife." He said simply, kissing her forehead.
Laura's eyes closed gently as she leaned into Peter's arms, feeling comforted and safe. This felt more real right now.
His scent... It relaxed her. In ways she had never imagined, she had never felt before.
She gripped his suit tightly, pulling close against him.
Peter let her relax, tugging on his suit which he didn't mind, if this made her feel safe then he was happy to let her hug him.
He rubbed the back of her head, the tips of his finger brushing her neck. A slow and soft motion, a soothing act.
'We'll figure this out, Laura. I promise.' He thought to her.
Laura, however, snuggled in a little more to Peter, inhaling his scent as it became familiar to her and how the goofball she knew turned into the man before her.
She wanted to experience this feeling forever.
'Let me have this. If I return...let me have this.' She thought to herself.
"I apologize for interrupting, but I believe it best for us to run the magical test now." Victor stated.
Peter nodded and Laura released herself from her husband, looking at Victor and ready to have her brain magically scanned now.
"Let's just do this. I don't want to put this off anymore." Laura asked.
"Of course." Victor answered.
"Hey, can we watch?" Johnny asked as the other Avengers poked their heads out.
"I'm not a circus performer." Laura frowned.
"Ignore him, he's a goofball." Emma answered.
"It's just going to be another mind scan, Jonathan." Victor added.
"A magic one." He answered.
"Matchstick, I'll web your pants so hard that they rip off as you fly away. Try and explain that to the papers!" Peter warned.
Johnny cleared his throat gently as he was put in his place. "Understood."
"Mrs Parker." Victor asked politely.
"Just get it over with. Please." She sighed.
"Of course." Victor nodded as his hands began to glow with green magical energy, letting Laura settle down as she was now seeing a light show of arcane circles, ancient runes and other magical mumbo-jumbo.
Victor's spell craft was swift and clear, allowing him to see what would be wrong. Telekinesis and science failed. He would not.
"Doom does not fail." He spoke. But it wasn't with the same confidence Laura knew. It was almost like there was a pain there, like he was trying to encourage himself.
'What happened to him?' She thought to herself as she heard him. But she just sat there, letting the magic wash over her.
Victor seemed to be struggling, but the magic was working, seeping through her mind...and something was catching his sight.
"Ah. There it is." Victor spoke, seemingly straining his magic to find this problem. And then he cancelled his spell, green magic flickering around the room.
"Okay, so what are we looking at?" Miles asked as he saw the magic flickering around.
"This is Laura's mind in her body. From ten years ago." he explained.
"I? I'm sorry, what?" Miles asked as everyone was shocked.
"Laura's mind from ten years ago has been brought into our present." Victor tried to clarify. "This is Laura Parker."
...
"My mind... time travelled? Into my... current body?" Laura asked.
"Essentially, yes." Victor nodded. "It seems that this was a...gift of sorts."
"A... a gift?! A gift?!" Laura snapped "HOW is this a GIFT?!"
"This is only temporary. In less than 24 hours after arriving, you will return to your body in the past." Victor stated.
"Thank god, it's not permanent." Laura sighed in relief.
...
Before her eyes widened as everything settled down.
On one hand, she was happy she wasn't stealing the body of her future self. Not permanently.
On the other, however? She was in her future self's body!
It wasn't just simply amnesia!
"God, what the hell am I going to do?" She groaned and whispered to herself.
"Don't worry Laura. I'll erase today from your memories and put you in a coma. You'll wake up back where you came from." Emma commented as her eyes began to glow blue.
"What?! Hey, none of that!" Miles snapped, getting in front of her.
"Just the memories of today, when she goes back, guarantees the future will change!" Emma snapped "I am sorry, but I will not lose my family and my children because of some sick twisted game or some cosmic accident!"
"Maybe the future SHOULD be changed. In some ways." Victor whispered with a frown.
"Iron Man." Carol said, stressing the title, as she placed a hand on his shoulder. "Time is not always kind. Not always just. And pain scars. We know this. But we are who we are, we grow as people, from that pain."
"My life is of no concern, but that failure is cruel! My people did not deserve that!" Victor snapped
"And then there's the fall of New York. She could stop that." Nadia pointed out with shame "Maybe I could have stopped my father if those events never happened..."
"Whoa, whoa, wait. What is going on? What the hella re you talking about?" Laura asked.
"Laura. If you go back in time, your knowledge OF the future guarantees that it changes." Johnny explained.
"I. So you don't trust me." Laura asked.
"It's not that. It's just...any change in history has ripples." Carol answered. "And knowing the future, you'll make slightly different choices. Like, say, hesitating when fighting Victor at one point in time."
"So basically, I need to be lobotomised for this future to exist?" Laura asked with a frown.
"NO!" Peter snapped.
The Group looked in shock as Peter yelled at them.
"I'm not going to let you lobotomise my wife!" Peter continued.
"Peter, if you don't you might not even HAVE a wife!" Emma snapped "She might not go for this, or she might pursue you and mess it all up!"
"But, shouldn't it be LAURA'S choice?" Nadia pointed out.
"Right?" Miles agreed. "How many of us have messed with the past in one way or another? Accident or not?"
"Besides, any changes could be minor." Johnny shrugged.
...
"What is so terrible?" Laura mumbled. "What are you scared I won't, or will, change?"
The Avengers looked at each other, flinching a little as they didn't want to answer. "A lot...And we mean 'a lot' has happened within ten years."
"Some of it. I should know." She argued.
The group looked at each other and slowly relented. "What is it that you want to know?" Victor asked.
"Just the highlights. I guess." She answered.
"Alright, but you better not take notes." Emma answered.
"Emma..." Carol glared at her colleague.
"Well, for starters, Neo York." Johnny spoke. "Green Goblin's the nutcase who messed this place up."
...
"How?" She asked in shock.
"There was a team of villains.." Victor sighed "Many of us organised together. Enhanced each other. Grew stronger, as strong as we could. And started an all-out war."
"The Bugel referred to it as 'The War of Evil'." Miles chuckled bitterly
"Osborn... Norman had fused with the Carnage Symbiote again. Forming the Red Goblin." Peter explained "I wasn't... I didn't pay attention. We had just started getting closer. I was overly worried about you. I was helping you fight Apocalypse. I thought someone else could deal with him for a change... He... He got the Infinity Stones."
Laura's eyes widened in absolute horror. "Osborn got the Stones?! Why isn't everything destroyed then?"
"Because Norman's mind was fractured. The Man and the Goblin were fighting for control. The Goblin wanted everything to be destroyed, The Man wanted to evolve the world further than rely on magic." Peter answered.
"But...we do-" Laura asked before she realised as she looked at Victor. The pain he was struggling with, he was forcing magic to come to be.
"Yes. Norman Osborn severed connections to magic for nearly all magic users, in favour of science." Victor answered solemnly. "While his goblin and Carnage minds fought and... Caused an explosion that destroyed most of New York."
"Oh my god." Laura held her head. "And...What happened after the explosion?" She asked, dreading the answer.
"Many died." Nadia admitted.
Laura looked down at her feet, not wanting to pry anymore into the Goblin.
But she also realised. If she hadn't been so close to Peter... He could have stopped Goblin.
He could have stopped all of this if he hadn't cared about her.
"I...I'm sorry." She apologised, thinking it was her fault.
"What do you mean?" Emma asked, putting a hand on her shoulder.
"If...If I wasn't. Peter might've been able to-" Laura frowned.
"No! Don't talk like that." Peter frowned.
"I forgot you were like this before therapy." Emma sighed.
"I. I'm responsible; right?"
"No, you're not. Norman was responsible. He used the Stones, he caused all this. Not you." Peter answered.
"You're as bad as your husband for feeling guilty for your enemies." Emma recalled.
"Hey!" Peter snapped.
Laura looked away and felt a little worse. "But what about the X-Men? The Avengers? What happened there?"
"Some died, some survived." Johnny shrugged "Normal hero stuff."
Laura nodded, holding her head as she was taking this all in.
"Okay. This is temporary." Peter said, going to Laura's side "Let's just go and get some fresh air."
Laura looked at her husband and stood up to go with him. "Thanks for the talk..." She spoke to the group.
"Thanks guys." Peter nodded, following her out.
The pair walked out of the room, heading outside as Laura wanted some air. The weight of this world was crushing her...and the responsibility that entailed it even more so.
"...I. Get it."
"Huh?" He asked as he was behind her.
"I get it. How you must feel every day." She admitted. "Feeling responsible for things that you can't control. How did you keep going?"
"Because I had to." Peter answered reassuringly, holding her gently in his arms. "Now let's get you home. I'll make you some tea."
"That'd be lovely." She answered as she looped her arms around his waist as they swung off back home.
*time skip*
Peter and Laura were back home, having had a relaxing tea and sitting watching TV.
Still wearing their costumes, besides their masks, as well.
"Is it always so peaceful in the future?" Laura asked.
"You're lucky." Peter smiled. "It's usually busier."
"Really?" She didn't believe him but enjoyed the sentiment.
"Villains are still villains, Laura. Still have to deal with the bullshit."
"But you've got a partner now." She responded in understanding, knowing they were together here.
He smiled and held her hand tightly, nodding at her words.
She felt her heart thump loudly in her head, taking in Peter's scent and the familiarity that she was experiencing. Though this wasn't her time, since her future self would return, it gave her perspective on what she could have.
"Is it strange if I say this all feels like a vivid dream?" She asked.
"No, of course not." He answered.
Laura subtly sidled up to Peter, feeling a little more comfortable right now and almost leaned next to him.
...
"What do we do?" She asked.
"What we... Oh. Well, I'm a science teacher." Peter smiled.
"Wait, really?" She asked in shock. "I thought you were a scientist assistant or something."
"I was that at one point." He answered. "I basically run a small private science class. Classes once a week. Sort of like an online tutor mixed with a teacher. It pays really well, surprisingly."
"Wow, you've really made a name for yourself." Laura commented.
"I had to work hard to get where I am." Peter added.
"What about me?" She asked.
"Believe it or not, you work as a police officer." He answered.
"No. I don't." She frowned.
...
"Haha, almost gotcha." Peter laughed "Honestly? You haven't really got a job. Logan gave you a bunch of his safe houses. And when we moved in together, you fixed them all up and sold them. Got a really good profit. And your occasional act as a teacher at the Future Foundation or the X-Mansion. Gym teacher."
"A gym teacher? Wow...that's actually pretty cool." She admitted.
"I did it as an undercover job once and liked it ... Hey, how is Gabby?"
"She's a VTuber." He shrugged.
"She's a what?" Laura asked with a shocked look.
"A VTuber is-"
"No, I know what it is...it's just...whoa." Laura admitted. "Gabby's done a lot for herself. Is she any good? What does she do?"
"Gaming, chatting, reacting to stuff her fans send in, some cooking streams, sometimes singing." Peter shrugged. "She isn't the BEST or anything, but she has fun. And she isn't seen as number one, but she is doing well for herself."
Laura's eyes began to well up as she heard that. "Is she happy?"
"Yeah, she is." He nodded, stroking her head. He nuzzled her neck softly, sighing as he just held her.
'This. This is good. I can see this being my future.' She thought to herself as she sat with Peter, enjoying the few hours she had left with him.
*time skip*
It was close to the end of the night, Peter and Laura were still up wanting to welcome the new year in.
"Not long now." Laura said as she saw the clock.
"Yeah, I know." He nodded as they were together. "The kids should be finished soon."
"Right...Oh god, it feels weird waiting for the kids to come home." Laura admitted.
"Oh?" Peter chuckled, kissing her neck.
Laura shuddered gently as she felt his lips on her neck, his scent filling her nose once again.
Oh, how she wanted him to...
Knock
Knock
"Looks like they're back." Peter spoke as he pulled back gently.
"R-Right." She nodded as they went to the door.
"Hey, guys." Harry spoke as they opened the door.
"Mummy, daddy!" Sarah cheered as they went to their parents.
"Whoa, looks like someone had a good day today." Peter chuckled.
He picked his daughter up, nuzzling her face lightly.
"Did you have a good day?" Laura asked.
"Yeah, we did." Ben nodded.
"These two have been bouncing non-stop since leaving school." Harry chuckled.
Laura picked up Ben in her arms, feeling his weight and felt his warmth as a parent and child. "W-would you like to come in?"
"Are you sure? I wouldn't be imposing?" Harry asked.
"Ah, come on in." Peter added.
"Yay!" Both Ben and Sarah cheered.
"Well, if it's unanimous." Harry laughed as he walked inside.
"Uncle Harry, we want to show you something!" Ben spoke, dragging Harry to their room.
"Oh? What toys have you got? Sorry, Pete." Harry apologised.
"I get it." Peter responded mirthfully. "Ben and Kaine should be here soon. How's Liz and Normie doing?"
"We're doing fine, Normie's still a 'mummy's boy'." Harry admitted.
"Well, we don't know anyone like that, do we, Ben?" Peter playfully teased his children.
"No, nope. Nuh-uh." Ben tried to deny it.
"Oh? We don't?" Laura smiled.
"Mummy, this way." Sarah tried to show her something, but mostly was trying to get away from the playful teasing.
"Okay, okay." Laura smiled as she let herself be led away.
"So, want to tell me what happened today, Ben?" Peter asked as Laura left.
Laura continued to be pulled by Sarah as she was slowly getting a parental feeling again.
"Where are we going?" she asked her little girl happily.
"In here, in here!" Sarah brought her mother to her bedroom and pulled out something from her bag, a hand-made picture of herself, her brother and their parents. "Tah-dah."
"Oh my..." Laura gasped as she covered her mouth, feeling her eyes water up.
"Mummy? Are you okay?" She asked gently as she looked at Laura's eyes.
Laura couldn't answer, she tried to answer but... these feelings in her heart...
Sarah put the picture down and hugged her mother. Trying to comfort her.
...
And Laura hugged her tightly, like a precious gift from the heavens itself.
Sarah smiled as she felt this hug, realising that it was a good cry.
"I love it..." Laura whispered "I love it Sarah... It's beautiful..."
"Thank you, mama." Sarah smiled "Owie!"
"Oh! I'm sorry!" Laura backed off and looked over Sarah.
She saw Sarah's finger was cut a bit, against Laura's suit shoulder pad it appeared... And the cut was already healing before Laura's eyes.
Sarah's eyes widened in awe and smiled. "Mummy, mummy! I'm healing! Like you!"
"I-Y-Yeah, yeah." Laura chuckled nervously.
"Do you think I'll get my claws? Or maybe I'll stick to walls like daddy?" Sarah asked excitedly.
"Who knows." Laura smiled at her daughter's excitement "Does... er... does your brother have any powers?"
"Yeah, he does. He can do the thwip-thwip." She gestured their father's wrist motion.
"Thwip-thwip?" Laura blinked 'But... are those powers even biological? I am confused.'
However, as she looked down at Sophie... she didn't care.
*time skip*
Laura laughed as she and Peter relaxed, the kids having some dinner. Harry had left not too long ago.
"They are so adorable." Laura chuckled as she looked at the kids eating.
"Yeah, it is adorable." Peter agreed.
"Hmm. Should we start getting food?" she asked.
"Ben and Kaine are bringing a take-away before places close." Peter responded.
"Oh yeah, a 'New Years feast'." Laura rolled her eyes playfully.
"Can YOU be bothered to cook for four adults after making their dinner?" he quipped.
"No." She admitted and shook her head.
"Neither do I." he responded.
"Because you are lazy." a joking voice said from the window, Laura snarling as her claws came out.
snikt!
"Whoa, whoa! Laura! It's just us!" The joking voice spoke, it showing a pair of men outside the windows.
"Who..." she blinked, noticing how the voice was almost identical to Peter's.
"Your wife is on edge again, Parker?" the other figure asked, again his voice was similar to Peter's only gruffer.
Both of them smelt like him to, but slightly different.
One was a man wearing an all-red bodysuit with large white eyes, bulky silver web shooters on the outside of his suit and a brown belt. His mask had large white eyes without any frames, and he wore a blue hoodie with ripped-off sleeves and a slanted spider symbol that appeared to be hand drawn on with some sort of marker
"Uncle Ben! Uncle Kaine!" Both Sarah and Ben cheered as they saw their uncles as they hurried over to the two.
"Hey Kiddo's!" the first one, the one wearing the hoodie, grinned as he took off his mask. Revealing a face almost identical to Peter's, only his hair was blonde and in an almost buzz cut.
"Hey, look out. Here comes trouble." The second one removed his mask and showed a long, brown-haired, goateed-faced Peter. He was looking a little ragged with some dark circles under eyes.
"Kaine, do you not know how barbers work?" Peter joked.
"It's my resolution." Kaine waved it off and smirked under his beard.
"Who..." Laura whispered.
"Clones." Peter answered with a smile. "That's why they're so similar."
"I... Feel like we've had these talks before." Ben joked, as little Ben was hanging off his arms upside down.
"Ben!" Laura yelled as she hurried over, grabbing his son. Out of worry, he might fall.
"Whoa, easy, Laura. He's alright." Ben reassured as he gestured to Ben hanging like a bat. "Wall-crawling abilities aren't just limited to our fingers and feet."
"I..." Laura mumbled before holding her head. Oh god, was this what being a mother was like?
"You okay, Laura?" Kaine asked, looking at her.
"Kaine... It's a whole thing. For a few hours, she's got a... Memory thing. Don't know how long but... Just drop it, okay? We can talk after the kids in bed." Peter urged.
Kaine held up his hands in defence. "Alright, alright...who's up for takeaway food?"
"Me, me!" Ben cheered as he hung from Uncle Ben's arm.
"Get down first." Peter answered. "And you two have already had dinner."
"Oh..." Both Sarah and Ben mumbled, trying to give their best 'innocent' face to their family.
"Oh, no. We're not falling for that." Uncle Ben answered.
"No, no, not at all! Not getting us!" Peter huffed
Laura, meanwhile, shook as she felt those eyes drilling into her soul. Making her heart feel like it was breaking...
*Time skip*
"Thank you, mama!" The younger Parker's cheered as they ate some Chinese food.
"No problem." Laura answered, with the Parker Brothers looking at her and sighed. It was hard to win against the combined cuteness of Sarah and Ben when they wanted something.
... "I couldn't say no." She mumbled, lowering her head to shame.
Kaine sighed and patted her shoulder. "Gruffer people than you have failed also."
"Are you talking about Logan, yourself or someone else?" Uncle Ben chuckled.
"Yes." Peter snickered. "Don't hog all the prawn crackers, Sarah."
"Oh, dad..." She mumbled.
Laura smiled at this. At.. at a family.
"Hot! Hot, hot!" Ben exclaimed as he had a spicy-flavoured piece of chicken.
"Oops, that one's mine." Uncle Ben flinched as he took it off Ben.
"Ow! Ow! Ow!"
"I'll get the milk!" Peter laughed as he hurried to the kitchen.
Laura smiled at this, this was her family.
"Hey, Laura. Want any spareribs or anything?" Kaine asked.
"Sure." She nodded, as she began to tuck into a second dinner.
The Parker family all got around the table, with the kids too stuffed for any more food.
"I've got Ben." Laura whispered as she carried her son.
"I've got Sarah." Peter added, the two putting their kids to bed.
"Is it... Always like this?" She asked as they took the kids to their bedrooms.
"No, sometimes it's quieter." Peter smiled as they tucked them into bed. "This was a special occasion."
"They're good kids." Laura whispered.
"They have a good mum." Peter reassured them as they saw their children sleeping for the last time of the year.
"How long until midnight?"
"Not long now." Peter answered, hugging her gently. "It is ten o'clock." He whispered into her ear
Laura shuddered at that whisper. It was scary, having only two hours left, she felt like she wanted more time.
"Peter..." She whispered to him, holding him closer.
"How was your day in the future?" He asked lovingly.
"It was... I never imagined such a thing. Such a day." she whispered, closing her eyes "All of this... it is so magical. So different. So... impossible."
"Sorry you hate it." he joked
"I don't." she responded, gripping his shirt "I don't hate it. And that's what's so-" she mumbled, gripping his shirt with her eyes squeezed closed. Her face pressed against his shirt as she shook, as she blushed. As she breathed in his scent, his warmth. Trying to make the time last for an eternity "-So hard!" she spoke, opening her eyes...
To the ice-filled skies and rooftops of New York.
Laura stood there, frozen like a statue. Tears poured down her cheeks as the cold winds blew by. She shivered in nothing but her skin-tight Wolverine costume once more.
Lifting her arm, she pulled the glove back. Looking at her watch.
Three seconds.
She had experienced that whole day in three seconds. And now she was back.
She could still hear the 'thwip's in the distance.
Laura gasped as she heard that noise and span around, preparing to call out to him... but stopped. She was back. Back in her own time. Her time's Peter swinging away. They didn't have that bond, that love, she felt from the future him.
...
And her memories were almost snarling in her mind.
New York, Devastated. Magic, removed from the world. Doctor Strange, hidden away outside the human dimension to keep them safe while being unable to return to the world.
"Peter." She whispered as she held her head with her own hands once again.
What... What should she do?
She looked at her clock again, thinking about what to do...and she took a leap off the building she was on to follow Spidey.
If she pushed him away, she would guarantee the terrible things in that futures would not happen!
...
And yet...
"Mama!"
*Elsewhere*
Peter was swinging through the city, hearing the cheers of New York around him as they welcomed the new year. He landed on the side of a building as he looked out over the concrete jungle.
"Oh, don't be so down Spidey. So, you struck out. Not the first time." He spoke to himself.
Though it was another 'strike out' on his relationship status...it didn't help but sting a little.
"Oh, cheer up Spidey! It's new years'!" He told himself, slapping his cheek about.
"Spider!" A voice called out to him. "Wait!"
"Huh?" He blinked... Before he was suddenly tackled off his current resting spot atop a streetlamp.
The two crashed in the middle of the crowd that was waiting for the countdown to finish, Peter wrapping his arms around his 'attacker' to protect them from the fall.
"Who-? Wolvie?" Spider-Man asked in shock as he looked into her eyes.
Well, the lenses of her mask. As she straddled his waist.
Out in the middle of New York for everyone to see.
"Thanks." She spoke as she pinned him.
"You're... Welcome?" He blinked.
"Whoo! Go Spidey!" People cheered as they saw the two together, just still high on the New Year spirit.
"Ah-ha..." He chuckled awkwardly.
"That date." She asked.
"Yeah?" He asked
"Is it still open?" She finished.
...
"Pardon?" He blinked.
"That new year's date. Sure. I'll go for coffee." She smiled.
Peter smiled as he heard that, realising 'Hey, I've got a date!'.
Laura got off him and pulled him up. Having a smirk on her face.
"Why the change of mind?" He asked.
"Call it a change of heart." She answered.
"Hey, it's getting close!" The public pointed to the clock.

Laura and Peter held hands for a little longer as she looked into his lensed eyes.

Peter looked at their hands quickly as he looked back at her and chuckled a little nervously.

Laura reached up and pulled his mask up to his nose as she had a blush under her own mask.

Peter almost double took as he stood there, seeing Laura make this gesture as she leaned in.

Laura leaned in and kissed Peter on the lips, her free hand going around his back, as Peter did the same, kissing her deeply as the people cheered for them and the welcoming for a-
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
People cheered together as they began to sing Auld Lang Syne, fireworks firing in the air as people came together. Laura and Peter holding each other as they stood in the middle of the crowd and just being part of it.
This was their story. And today was just the first step to another.
Happy New Year to you all.
