Chapter 5: Nora

One morning in San Fransokyo, in an apartment a young man and woman were getting ready for the day. The man had tan skin, thick short black hair, and brown eyes. He was wearing a white dress shirt, brown pants, brown shoes, and a black tie around his neck.

The woman was also tanned skin, with short straight black hair, and brown eyes. She was wearing a black sleeveless top, white skirt, and low black heels.

"Nora, have you seen my tie?" asked the man.

"It's around your neck, James." Nora replied, as she put on her earrings.

"Oh, right." James replied embarrassed.

He then began tying his tie, while Nora fixed her hair.

"I better get going now." James told her.

He then pecked her on the cheek, grabbed his stuff, and left the apartment. James worked at office building, and was hoping to get a promotion. Once Nora was ready, she left for her job, which was at a department store.

At the store, Nora was behind a counter doing her work. Everything was going fine, when suddenly, Nora's stomach began to churn. She winced, and quickly left her post, and went outside the front door.

She thought she was going to throw up, but luckily she didn't. As she moaned quietly, she didn't notice a red box was rolling up to her. The box stopped, and Baymax appeared out of it. Seeing the nurse robot, confused Nora.

"Hello, I am Baymax. Your personal healthcare companion. I responded to the need for medical attention when you moaned." he said.

"Oh, I'm fine. I just felt a little nauseous." Nora replied.

"I will scan you now."

"There's no need for that."

"Scan complete. You're experiencing nausea and light-headedness. It's being caused by your pregnancy." Baymax explained.

Upon hearing that word, Nora froze.

"P-pregnant? No that can't be."

"You can feel free to take a pregnancy test. But my scans show that you are carrying a small life form."

"Oh my gosh. This can't be happening. I need a test, but I need to get back to work."

"Not to worry." Baymax told her.

"I will go get you a test, while you go back to work."

"What?"

Baymax then walked off towards the stores. Nora snapped out of her daze, and went back to work.

In the store, Baymax was looking at the different pregnancy tests.

"Excuse me?" he asked a woman.

"But which one of these tests provides the most accurate result?"

At first she was surprised, but then answered.

"Oh well, the ones with the digital words are best. And you better get two."

"Thank you." Baymax replied.

He grabbed two tests, and left the store.

Back with Nora, she was trying to do her job, but she was having trouble concentrating.

"Nora, are you okay?" one of her co-workers asked.

"Oh, I'm fine. Just something on my mind."

Then she saw Baymax walking towards her. Not wanting her co-workers to find out, she quickly said she was going to use the restroom. Baymax gave her the tests, and she hurried to the restrooms.

"Baymax, you stay outside." she told him.

"Okay." Baymax replied.

Nora went inside, and did her business.

After a while, Nora looked at the tests. Both of them said, positive.

"Oh my gosh." Nora whispered, as she put her head in her hands.

"Nora?" called a voice.

It was Baymax.

"May I come in?" "(Sighs), yes Baymax."

Baymax opened the door, and walked in. Luckily there weren't any other women in the room.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"What did the test say?" Nora came out of the stall.

"They both said positive."

"Congratulations. You are going to be a mother."

"Oh no. This can't be happening." Baymax turned his head.

"I am confused. Usually when a woman finds out she's going to have a baby it's a thing to be excited about. But you are distressed."

"Baymax, this...this is really big. I wasn't prepared for this, and I'm not sure if James and I are ready to be parents mentally and financially."

She went to the sink, put her hands on it, and held her head down.

"If you do not wish to have or keep the baby, you do have options."

That made Nora freeze, she hadn't thought about that.

"Options?"

When Nora finished her shift, Baymax took her on a little stroll to see her options.

"If you decide you don't want to keep the baby, there's always adoption."

He showed her a building for a company that handled adoptions.

"Uh, I don't know."

"Or if you decided you don't want the baby, there are options for that too."

He then took her to a clinic, but there were some people outside protesting.

"Uh, I don't think that's right for me either, Baymax."

"Well what do you want?"

Nora looked anxious, nervous, and worried.

"I...I don't know!"

She hurried off and sat down on a bench. She put her head in her hands, and felt really lost. Baymax walked over to her, and sat down beside her.

"Many women are fearful when they learn that they are pregnant. And it's natural since you are carrying a new life." Baymax comforted.

"It's not just that Baymax. I never had a mother growing up, and I don't know how to take care of a baby. Besides, I'm not sure if my husband and I have enough money to have a baby."

"That may be, but whether you choose to have this baby or not, I'm sure you would be a good mother." Baymax comforted.

Nora looked up at the robot, and smiled a little.

Baymax went with her back to her apartment. He agreed to wait with her, until James got home. At first it was a surprise for James to come home and find a giant marshmallow-like robot in his place.

"What's going on here?" he asked.

"James this is Baymax. He helped me today."

"Hello." Baymax greeted.

"Okay, well I've got great news. I got the promotion!"

"Seriously!?"

"Yep, along with it I'm getting a little raise, and they're going to provide us with company owned house."

"James this is great!"

Nora threw her arms around him, and the two hugged.

"Nora also has some news to tell you, James." Baymax informed.

"What is it?" James wanted to know.

Nora took a deep breath, and then replied,

"I'm pregnant."

James was shocked, but then his face changed to happiness.

"Nora, that's wonderful!"

"Really?"

"We're going to be parents. It's great."

Nora was relieved to hear that, and they hugged again.

When Hiro got home, he found Baymax holding a baby rattle.

"Baymax, did you help deliver a baby today?" he asked.

"No. I won't be delivering a baby yet." he replied.
