Chapter 5
Down the road of the city, on a rooftop, there were four figures standing on the rooftop of a destroyed building that was being surrounded by policemen.
One of the four people was the sole female of the bunch, who was wearing a full blue and white spandex that only showed the face and let out her hair in a ponytail fashion, the only other equipment worn was a pair of goggles.
Blazestone
Another being a man standing next to the first wore a similar type of gear, its coloring being purple and black, with the only distinguishing feature being thorns-like spikes on the top of the head to the neck, all facing backwards.
Universal Man
The last two males were together in the center of the building roof, one leaned against a wall as the other had a hand placed on the arm the former was holding.
The latter wore a mostly blue outfit of different shades, he was also the only one that was wearing a cape out of all of them, and was currently had his eyes closed in concentration, some sweat dripping out of the costume from the face.
Downburst
'This really isn't the time…but why do the two of the guys of this group have names that suck ass,' I thought amusingly, as I gradually felt the pain consistently flare up in small portions before fading until another small section flares up in pain again.
Why Universal Man? All I can think about is Universal Studios and I'm sure as hell he isn't here advertising about it, no, fuck that, why Downburst? That's a type of wind, a destructive one at that, but nothing that has anything to do with the Atomic Manipulation user.
Blazestone at least made some amount of sense for a pyrokinetic, what were these two's excuse?
"Almost done…" mumbled Downburst, though were it to me or to himself was anyone's guess, it seemed to take a lot out of him,…which was fair, he only recently trained up to be able to heal others like this to such an extend, it used to be just small wounds like bruises and cuts.
"Really? And I thought I was here to watch how a man held another," sounded out a bored female from the side.
Looking over to the other two, I caught just in time to see Universal Man roll his eyes in annoyance, "ignore her, Phase, Dick-" Blazestone snorted while he simply gave her a look while not stopping, "-mentioned that you came about some information concerning us, right?".
Giving my arm a quick test by swinging it a bit, I responded, "correct, i was dealing with a group of thugs on this very building, in the now destroyed office, was the guy I faced as well as a man from an organization that you two were dealing with, he made it clear that Blazestone was giving them a hard time".
The woman gave a smirk in response, "well it's not my fault if the men can't handle me playing rough," as she placed a hand on her hip.
Universal Man groaned as he placed his hand on his face, "your idea of "playing" is giving grunts second to third degree burns, which is not something you should be doing!" He spoke the last line with gritted teeth as the girl rolled her eyes in annoyance, the man looked back to me to continue the conversation while Downburst looked quite concerned over what woman said, "also, have any ideas which organization they are from?".
I shook my head, as I used Seeing The Sights, All The Sights to instantly recall the conversation and what details I managed to see, "he didn't give any names, but he did mention delivering machinery to the big guy, and that Blazestone was giving them trouble any chance they met a client,".
Blazestone actually raised an eyebrow at that, "So a pretty recent and consistent organization that we deal with, and is large enough to delivery machinery?,".
Her partner nodded and answered, "The only real possibility considering all of that could only be the Black Snakes, a generic black alley dealers spread across the the city, it also helps knowing that that guy mentioning Blaze limits the area the man could be from, which will help track him down alongside his co workers,".
I lifted my forearm to my other hand's finger, "I will do you one better," as I pressed down on the black material on the suit on my forearm, which turned out to be a small rectangular screen, that appeared as the map of the city before rapidly zooming in on a red dot that moved on the road, the target probably being in some sort of vehicle.
The three other superheroes stared at the red dot, being Blazestone boredly stared at the dot, "nice red spot,".
My eye twitched, "before the situation escalated I managed to bug both of them before combat ensued, unfortunately one of the bugs won't be working on them, which is the one on the villains,".
Downburst's eyes widened, "you managed to bug them?!" Sounding impressed, for the first time since arriving he has spoken.
"That IS useful, you are…incredibly prepared, "said Universal Man, looking amazed as he watched the map as the red dot moved around the map.
I myself shrugged, "I like to be prepared, it isn't over prepared if it actually comes into use, it also helps that I have a large preference to gathering information before I do anything else if I can help it,"
The three other heroes blinked at the last part of my sentence, supers typically liked to just to beat the bad guy and be done with it, the only exception would be when the villain escapes and you were forced to do detective work, the fact PhaseOut typically tries to do both…wasn't exactly rare, but it wasn't common.
Nevertheless, I continued, "Now as to what I need your help for? Well other than the fact that the Beta Force here are connected to this case, it's also because we need to plan things out, specifically for it to happen at the date the meeting occurs, I don't have access to his location, so we will have to get them, both the villain and the organization, at the same time,".
Downburst let out a hum, "…sounds a bit ambitious, taking down a villain? Sure, but an entire organization in one go? We can take out that portion that is there, but we will need to somehow track down the others portions afterwards,".
I agreed, "of course, which is why we need proper planning and at the end of the day our goal is simply the ideal goal, and so…-," I sat down crossed legged, "where should we begin?".
Several days have gone by, I have kept note of where the bugged man was on day one after the incident, we managed to track down where he probably worked at, which then when morning came around, moved into a property that was probably his house.
Though the information we got from the big…was sadly limited as after an entire day of the red dot not moving an inch from the house, we have concluded that he must've swapped clothing.
We concluded that we still must've had the element of surprise, as the bug was still transmitting the signal and it hasn't moved from the house than, say, the building the man worked at.
We gave the information on the location on where the man's house is at, as well as the information on the bug and our plans to invade a villain's hideout, which should be enough for a warranty to seize the property on the day of the meeting.
For the rest of the information we needed, I myself went to the location site of the warehouse and basically walked around in there in Dimension Four and only got out if I was sure there was no cameras in the room and took pictures on all sorts of files and equipment.
I was able to pinpoint several locations of other base of operations across the cities, which I also sent to the police to get ready to storm through on the day of action.
I never understood why practically none of the capes ever utilized the police, they had the time, training, and resources to deal with this shit, or at least with regular people, it's so much easier to get shit done when you have the backing of people who had the authority to control traffic, block off areas, and easily call on reinforcement.
It also helps that they can easily request a superhero to help them in the location they are to raid at, really having allies in the police makes life a lot easier in every way.
Have a meeting with the chief of police, we all came up with several strategies to deal with our opponents, equipment, and other factors, before we managed to settle on one.
But still…
"Hmm," a noise let out of my mouth as I chewed on my lunch, the lower half of my mask slightly lowered to chew on the generic sandwich on a table at the police station, just after the meeting to plan the attack.
"What's wrong," asked Universal Man as he took a quick bite of his food, but never took his eyes of the computer.
I took a glance at the thing, though turned back once I noticed it was only some sort of document he was working on, be it for his secret identity life or something he found on a villain.
He was honestly a workaholic, I think I also recalle-, no I remember the wiki page mentioning that he didn't have a good self-esteem, driving him to do more work.
"…hey, Universal, after all this is over, think you can help me improve my power even further?" I stated my question, after a few months, it kinda stumped me that I didn't have a clue how to the others things that should be possible like the hero right next to me, so I figured the best way to improve was to simply ask.
The man let out a hum, him actually letting his gaze leave the computer screen and look up to the ceiling, "not sure, our weaknesses are already very different,…but to be honest I don't see a reason not to at least try,".
I have a smile, as I have a thumbs up, "looking forward to it!" As I stood up and left with my things
We have a big day tomorrow.
