The wind whistled softly around her as the sun began to set, lifting her hair here and there. President Lysandra Sines made no move to stop it, leaning on the mahogany balustrade and watching the orange glow. She was so immersed in the peaceful sight that she almost didn't notice the balcony door sliding open.
Her ears twitched and she did not turn around. "What is it?" The President's tone was completely calm, albeit a hint of mild irritation.
"Madam President, uhm- Head Gamemaker Laur wants to see you- he's outside the office…" The secretary said apologetically.
President Sines picked up her wine, which lay on the side table next to her, and took a sip. "Tell Orpheus I will attend to him in a minute."
The secretary nodded vigorously and scurried back through the door at top speed. President Sines took a long, languid breath and placed her wine back down on the side table. Then, moving reluctantly, she turned around and went to go speak to Orpheus Laur.
He was sitting in the chair outside the door to her office suite, and he immediately stood when Lysandra opened the door.
"Madam President," he greeted her.
"Head Gamemaker," she greeted him in kind, tilting her head in acknowledgement. "What concerns you?"
"We've come up with an idea for the Games this year, but it's…" Laur paused, considering his words. "...a bit interesting, and requires your approval in writing."
"Go ahead," prompted the President, curious.
The Head Gamemaker took a sheaf of papers out of his satchel. "Take a look, Madam President."
President Sines accepted the papers and skimmed over them. Her eyes widened on the design for the arena. "Oh," She managed to say, highly intrigued.
"Indeed, Madam," Laur smirked, voice oily.
"It will cost quite a bit to get these," pointed out the President, jabbing her finger at a spot on the map design.
"No more than the annual cost of the Hunger Games," the Head Gamemaker dismissed.
Lysandra shook her head, awed. "This is very impressive, Orpheus."
"Thank you," allowed the Head Gamemaker magnanimously.
The President scribbled her signature down on the paper in deep scrawls. "You have my approval and endorsement to proceed. I look forward to this year's Hunger Games."
End Note: You can submit your tribute by filling out the form on my profile and PMing it to me! The SYOT will be open for a month, though I might extend this deadline if submissions are slow.
If you want to know what kind of map the arena is going to have, you can take a hint from the name of this story :].
Enjoy the ride!
