A/N: This story was inspired by 'A Maids Worst Nightmare' by spikedsoul on AO3

Full steam ahead for lore inconsistencies, canon divergence, and general madness. All in the name of lov- simping!

This story will be borrowing from multiple sources including but not limited to my imagination/headcanons, the Super Mario Bros movie ( 2023 ), general basic fandom knowledge, and bits of Super Mario Galaxy.

Prologue;

When the void opened up, the people of Brooklyn knew exactly what to do: panic, scream, and run around like headless chickens. Classic... really.

It was a big gaping hole in the middle of the street, yawning open like the hungry maw of a psychedelic leviathan. The thing was big enough to drive a truck through, and it was made up of a kaleidoscope of colors. It was shimmering like the surface of a pond, a rainbow whirlpool of blues, greens, oranges, and reds. Its edges blurred, spiraling downwards into oblivion. Were attacks like this going to become a monthly thing now!?

Chaos reigned supreme, droves of people fleeing in all directions, sucked into the vacuum of the void. People ran blindly, bumping into each other and knocking over trash cans and street signs. Some clutched their children tightly, while others searched frantically for their loved ones. The noise was deafening, with car horns blaring, alarms wailing, and people screaming for help.

'This can't be happening!'

Amid the chaos, a young woman heard a child's piercing scream, all too familiar.

"Melonie!" She whipped her head around to stare at the growing void, clutching Melonie's turtle shell backpack. Its leathery hide awkwardly situated in her hands. Her grip vice-like, knuckles turning white. She saw a strange contraption racing towards the void, with what looked to be monsters riding within. The child on the back of the machine cried out again, and the woman realized in horror that it was her niece.

"Wait.. this isn't Junior!"

Were the last words she heard before getting sucked in.

Spiraling down and down and down.
