Hey guys. IDK how to really start this, but I'm not going update regurarly.
In this story, Annabeth's family gets dusted. Yeah, lets see where this takes us lol.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything except the plot.
Annabeth P.O.V.
Annabeth Chase knocked on the door to her fathers house. After the Giant War, she was just glad to be home.
When the door swung open, her little brother, Bobby, was standing there. Wide eyed and open mouthed.
"Annie?" He muttered.
"Yeah." I smiled down at him
"Your home! Annie's home!" He yelled, and threw his arms around me.
"I never, ever want you to go on a quest again!" He sobbed into my chest.
"I know. Me neither, Bobby." I cried.
But, just as I heard more footsteps approaching, I felt his grip slacken.
"Bobby?" I took a step back, but couldn't see him. All I could see was a pile of dust sitting in my hands.
"BOBBY? MATTHEW? DAD?" I ran upstairs to my dads study, where I was sure to find them. Instead, all I saw was another pile of ash.
I felt horror filling me, and I sank to my knees. For the first time since Leo died, I sobbed, and I knew nobody would be able to stop me.
Tony P.O.V.
Shortly after returning to earth after the blip, I got a phone call. That in itself isn't odd, I get phone calls all the time. It was the contents that were concerning.
"Hello, is this Mr. Stark?"
"Yes, it is I" I spoke in an overly formal voice used only to mock people.
"Good. This is the U.S. department of childcare. We recently discovered that your brother, Frederick Chase, was among those who Vanished. And, his teenage daughter, Annabeth Chase, was left orphaned."
"Oh." I gasped, "Uhh, could I apply as her guardian?"
"Yes. She currently resides in San Francisco. Could you fly over to fill paperwork by next Tuesday?"
"I'll fly over today if I have to." With that, I hung up the phone.
Annabeth P.O.V.
Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I heard that Tony Stark was going to be my legal guardian. At the very least I was glad to be in New York.
When he showed up, I had already packed my things. Knife, drakon-bone sword, computer, a few photos, and several books on architecture.
The doors opened, and a man steeped inside. He had graying hair, a fancy suit, and a little ear-piece in his ear. Finally, he glanced at me, and seemed to realize that there were other people in the room.
"Oh. Hi. I assumer you are Anna?"
"Annabeth."
"Huh?" He questioned
"I said, I go by Annabeth. Not Anna, not Annie, not Beth. Annabeth."
He hesitates, "Ok. Well, grab your bags. It's time to go."
I looked around me, quite possibly getting the last glance at the place I once called home.
"ok." I sighed, picked my bag off of the floor, and walked out of the house.
***time skip***
As I climbed aboard the plane, Tony called the Quinjet, he started to try to get to know me.
"So, Annabeth," Tony said, putting emphasis on my name, "What do you want to be when you are grown up?"
"I'm an architect." I spoke, quietly.
"Well, I created the first ever clean-energy high-rise, ever." He said, in a very braggy voice.
"Sure, but it will only work for about three more months. And, it cost a fortune! I have plans that will work much better than it does now."
He looked flabbergasted that someone less than half his age would even think talk to him like that.
Once we finally landed, on the roof of the newly named Avengers building might I add, I was exhausted.
"Is there any place I can sleep?" I spoke between yawns.
"Yeah, seventh floor. Let me show you."
Sadly, we had arrived on the tenth floor, meaning we would have to take the elevator. As soon as we arrived to the doors, I froze.
Tony sighed, "What now?"
"Are there stairs?"
"Why would you want to take the stairs? Just get in!"
I sighed, and wished Percy was there. Oh no. Percy.
"Oh gods." I gasped, "Is there I phone I could borrow?"
"Um, yeah. You can use it tomorrow morning."
Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Tony just about dragged me inside.
Inside, I shut my eyes tight, and grasped the hand rail in an attempt to keep me from reliving Tartarus flashbacks. Tony seemed to noticed, and put a reassuring hand on my shoulder.
Once the doors opened, I rushed out and breathed deep.
"Come this way." He led my through the enormous floor, and into what I assumed was my room.
"This is it. And, there's the bathroom."
"Thank you." I spoke quietly
"And in the morning JARVIS will wake you up."
"Who in Hades is Jarvis?"
"My AI. Say hello, JARVIS."
"Hello Miss Chase."
"Uh, hi."
"If you need anything, just let me know."
"Ok, thank you Mr. JARVIS."
"My pleasure Miss Chase."
I smiled. That might have just been the most pleasant conversation I had taken part of since my family- never mind. Better to not think about it.
"You don't have to be so polite with him. He isn't alive." And there goes ruining every nice thing I might have, "Ok, a few others live here, try not the get on their bad side. And one more thing, what was it? Oh. Rules. #1. Curfew is 11pm, #2. If you are going somewhere, tell be first, #3. No weapons, #4. If somebody tell you to do something, do it. #5. No secrets, and #6. Don't make Bruce mad. Any questions?"
I shook my head, I didn't think I would have any problem with the rules. Except for the 'no secrets' one.
"Good." He checked watch, "Its almost 11."
"Ok. Good night." He walked out of my room. And only once he was fully gone, did I start to cry.
