She doesn't know exactly how she lost track of him, but she's sure he hadn't gone to sleep. She ventures out, the night is covered in shadow when she finds him, the lights illuminating just enough for her to trace the outline of his body sitting outside on a bench, the world drenched in summer night rain.

Her gaze traces the gentle curves and edges of his shoulders up to his neck and face as he looks up, eyes dancing as if he's trying to keep up with the stars spinning rapidly in the sky.

She approaches him carefully.

"Hiya!" She greets.

He jolts on his seat, sits upright. His eyes dart to her, startled, wide.

"You okay?" She asks, she might have had a few drinks herself. He nods silently. "I noticed you didn't come up with us."

"I-I don't know why I came outside." He says. She can't blame him. The air was stale and hot in there, maybe that had been part of the reason.

"Well, you won't mind if i join you, will you?" She says, scooting aside to get closer to him. Shoulder to shoulder, her skin brushes his.

"No." He replies.

"Did you have fun tonight?" She asks.

"I guess…" he says slowly, his voice rough, no confidence in his tone.

"Not used to drinking, huh? These moments, it's not exactly what you'd call fun, right?"

"Right."

They remain quiet as they sit together, eyes fixed on the sky.

And then clears his throat, shifting on his seat in an attempt to remain nonchalant. She finds it adorable, how hard he tries, when he really doesn't have to.

"I can't remember the last time I got drunk." He says, expression turning suddenly dark.

His eyes flicker down the length of her arm to their hands. He lifts his and entwines his fingers in hers, bare hand to bare hand.

"It's easier with you around." He admits quietly.

She tightens her grip around his hand, partly resenting how easy it has become for them, partly wishing she'd get even closer. It's too tempting, she almost can't contain the urge. If the past months they've spent together have taught her anything, is she shouldn't let these moments slip past her, regardless of what the future may bring.

"Hey, you know what I've noticed?" She asks. "We talk serious when we drink. Like, life questioning serious." She laughs, but it's broken, almost sad.

"We're that kind of people, huh?"

"Guess we are." She nods. "Let's play a game, to lighten up the mood."

"Well, what do you have in mind?"

She hums, something to lift their spirits up. "How about...only honest answers, okay?"

He nods, eyes narrowing for a split of a second.

"Between all of us, who's most likely to… start a family first?"

He pauses a moment, thoughtful. "Probably Yuigahama."

She tilts her head, not going to let the opportunity to entice him pass by. "Not you and me, huh? Alright, I'll take it if that's what you think."

"Wait… what?" He retorts, eyes widening with surprise, his mouth opens and shuts though no sound comes out.

"Next question!" She changes the subject, mischievous thoughts drifting away, but not entirely, she loves it when she leaves him speechless. "Who's most likely to get lost?"

He lingers, foot starting to bounce on the ground in a nervous tick, clearly coming from her reaction to the previous question.

"Komachi." He says then.

"Really? You think?" She blinks.

"I'm hoping I leave her behind somewhere."

"Hikigaya-kun!"

"Honest answers, right?"

She chuckles, stops a moment to just look at him, that signature half-smirk of his on his lips.

"Okay, one more." She says, their hands are still clasped together between them. His grip comforting, hand warm around hers, a familiar touch to her now. "Who's most likely to go skinny dipping?"

He hesitates, bites his lip. "Hiratsuka."

Haruno lets out a huff. "Come on! I thought we were answering honestly!"

"I mean it, that crazy hag!" He says. "Who would you say?"

"Me!" She replies promptly. "I'd do it!"

His smirk breaks softly into a small smile as he runs his free hand through his dark hair and sighs. "You know what, I believe you."

"Next time then." She teases, holding back a grin as his cheeks blush a darker shade of the pink already tinging his skin.

He looks more relaxed than when she found him.

She watches him closely, how his lips tug the slightest up, the soft expression on his face and easy posture against the bench. She basks in the effortless contentment of his smile.

"Hey Hikigaya-kun…" She calls, voice soft and low. "Let's stay here a while longer, sober up." Because she doesn't want to part just yet. The night is warm and calm. Thick droplets of water flicker slowly under the light of the lamp posts along that little town, it's almost sacred.

She lays her head on his shoulder, he shuffles to adjust to her position. It's natural, pure and gentle, she feels his pulse beating as she nestles against the crook of his neck. His body solid and hot against hers. The two of them fit, surprisingly perfectly, and everything seems better with him near. Something that feels very close to happiness settles comfortably in her chest at the thought.
