Chapter 1: The beginning

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

Slamming his hand on the alarm clock to make it shut up.

The young 17-year-old brunette looked up to see that it was 5 a.m. "Damn. . . I hate getting up." Climbing out of his bed, he stretched his body and walked towards his closet, where he pulled out a red workout shirt and some black jogging pants. This was Issei's usual routine to get up early and do a morning run of 22k. While physically impossible by human standards, Issei was fortunately not. No, he was 50% dragon and 50% devil. His father is a dragon, while his mother was a devil. Through their union, they had a single child. Issei Hyoudou, born between them, had spent most of his life living in one of the devil communities. However, that changed when he was 8, and his mother was killed by a group of Fallen Angels led by Kokabiel. He remembered that day all too well as the Fallen Angels attacked one day while he and his mother were out shopping.

Mrs. Hyoudou was a Mid-Class Devil who was skilled in the use of elemental magic. Despite her best efforts to protect her only son, she was killed by Kokabiel in front of Issei. It was also the day he gained the sacred gear known as the boosted gear; overcome with grief and rage, he charged at the Grigori group and managed to kill three of them before being knocked away by their leader. It would have been curtains for him had his father not arrived in time with a squad of devil officers to drive them back. From that day, he was told that he would be this generation's Red Dragon Emperor and that Ddraig was his ancestor. He also promised himself he would grow stronger to take revenge against Grigori who took his mother from him. That single drive motivated him to become more powerful and harness his inherited abilities.

However, his father had chosen to take him to the human world, where he could be safe. He could only go to the Underworld to train at Dragon Mountain. There he learned how to control his dragon and elemental abilities under the watchful eye of Mr. Hyoudou.

Slipping his clothes on, he exited his bedroom to go downstairs and put his shoes on. Once they were one, he left the house to do his run, all the while thinking about how today will go. Despite his wishes, his father was adamant about him attending school so he could make friends and know how to be a normal teenager. Knowing he could not change his old man's mind; he added a condition of his own. That he would be allowed to live alone. Agreeing with the condition, he felt Issei should have the opportunity to live without a guardian. From that day forward, the young man had the house to himself…well, him and counting Ddraig.

Stepping outside, he began doing his morning run while at the same time thinking about the new school he'd have to attend. Kuoh Academy was formerly an all-girl school until two years ago when the board decided to allow boys to attend. While the academy seemed like a normal high school, it was where two separate Devil peerages were located. Lord Lucifer, younger sister, was the heiress to the Gremory clan, and Lord Sitri's youngest daughter was the next Head of the Sitri clan. The former he had not seen in years; his thoughts wandered to how much she had changed over the years.

Another reason for his attending Kuoh was that he worked for Sirzechs-sama and Azazel-sama in trying to locate any of the Fallen Angels who worked for Kokabiel. Azazel-sama was far from pleased with some of the Grigori who served under him, especially Kokabiel, after discovering that he was displeased about the end of the three-way war. Thus he tasked Issei with locating any of his comrades to see if they had any ideas regarding his plan.

Thirty minutes later, a sweating Issei tried to catch his breath as he reentered his house. Heading towards the bathroom for a quick shower, when done freshening up, he went upstairs to put on his school clothes. The Kuoh Academy school dress code for boy's consisted of a black blazer, with white accents, over a white long-sleeved, button down shirt with vertical lining, a black ribbon for the collar, a pair of black pants. Issei, however, decided to forgo the collar, put a red V-neck shirt on before the white long-sleeve, left his blazer open, put on his white tennis shoes with blue highlights.

(Glad to see you're taking your training seriously) a green circle on Issei's left hand appeared. (Remember, keep your guard up. Being a dragon, you will bring a lot of attention).

"You haven't told me anything I do not already know," Issei nonchalantly replied. They've had this discussion numerous times before. Dragons, especially hybrid Dragons, attract a lot of attention and are extremely desirable. That's why members from the different factions wanted them on their teams.

(This is not a game) Ddraig chided. (The area you are in is a hotspot for supernaturals. There's no telling who will be a friend or enemy).

"Then this should be interesting and won't be a waste of time," exiting his room and heading towards the kitchen to make breakfast and lunch. "If there are any problems, I will handle them."

(Ugh) Ddraig groaned. (You are as stubborn as ever. Guess this should be expected as you are my descendant, after all. Just be careful not to reveal too much and keep your aura to a minimum. If there is nothing else, then I'm going to sleep). Issei rolled his eyes as the green circle vanished.

Ddraig could really be a worrywart. Not that Issei wasn't grateful it's just he'd wished the old dragon would lay off a little. Returning to the stove, he made some scrambled eggs and some toast. However, that was different from his much bigger lunch. Being a dragon meant he would need to eat a lot as they had large appetites.

After finishing his breakfast, he looked at the picture frame on the wall under the clock. The picture was of him and his parents when he was younger; a smile came across his lips as he saw a reminder of his late mother then he left the house with his bag.

As I walked to school, my mind drifted to what my life would have been like had my mother never died. The possibilities were endless; I imagined she would have lectured me about being safe at school. Those thoughts followed me until I reached the gates of a large building.

Once I entered the school's grounds, my improved hearing picked up the individual chatters from the other students. Much to my luck, I somehow incurred the wrath of the male students as they glared at me with jealousy and hatred; on the other hand, the females looked at him with stars in their eyes. In addition, a group of girls were gossiping about the new student that just arrived.

"He sure where's our school's uniform well. Damn, look at the muscles on his arms."

"He's as handsome as Yuuto Kiba."

"I hope he's not like the 'Perverted Duo.'"

"Do you think he has a girlfriend?"

Meanwhile, the boys continued to glare angrily at him. One group had more menacing expressions on their faces.

"Gre-e-at, that's all we need, another pretty boy." One sarcastically said.

"Die, pretty boy."

Issei continued walking, ignoring the comments being directed at him. Instead, his mind focused on the Devils already in the academy as their signatures alerted him to their presence. Instantly he felt a different pair of eyes on him radiating from the roof building of the school. Deciding to have a little fun, he released a little of his power.

(0^0)

The lone figure who'd been looking through the window felt the power coming from the new transfer student and had to admit she was both intrigued and curious. So when no one was around, she used a red magic circle to transport her into the old school building. Despite its outward appearance, the building's inside had a Victorian style design that was used by the Occult Research Club, or ORC for short. 'Who is that transfer student? He looks slightly familiar, and his aura is impressive. Maybe I should have Koneko watch him.' The long crimson-haired female thought.

The buxom figure with long crimson hair and blue-green eyes was Rias Gremory, one of the Two Great Ladies, a third year student at the Kuoh Academy with a well-known reputation. She was the most desired student in all of school as the female student body envied her beauty and intelligence, while the boys wanted to date her. The students believe I am from Northern Europe, but little do they know I am a Pure-Blood Devil from one of the surviving 34 pillars of the Devil community and the next head of the Gremory clan. Rias sat at her desk while clasping her hands together.

"Ara ara, something must have caught your attention," another figure entered the room. This particular person was named Akeno Himejima, a fellow third year and the second Great Lady of Kuoh. She was also an exceptionally beautiful young woman with a voluptuous figure, similar to Rias, but with violet eyes and long black hair, which she kept in a ponytail with the help of an orange ribbon. Akeno was also Rias's second in command.

"What do you know about the new transfer student?"

"Ufufufu," a big smile came across Akeno's face, placing a finger against her lips. "From what I know, his name is Hyoudou Issei, spiky brown hair, roughly 5'11. . .a new second year. He'll be in class 2-B. Why has he caught your attention?"

". . .you could say that. As he entered the school, I felt a faint trace of power coming from him. Most curious." She began thinking, 'Issei Hyoudou. Issei Hyoudou,' why does that name sound so familiar? "Let Sona know that I have my eyes on him. I'm going to have Koneko-chan tail him for a while."

"Hai, Buchou," Akeno exited the room, though not before catching the expression on Rias's face. Knowing her since they were children, she became an expert at reading Rias and knew when she was in deep thought. 'Perhaps I should look into my little kouhai.'

(0^0)

In classroom 2-B, several students talked about the new student joining them. Leading them were the girls as they spread into different groups while the men groaned in annoyance.

"I heard a new student is coming in today."

"Really? Do you we know who it is?"

"A boy. He's as handsome as Yuuto-san!"

"Amazing! There's going to be another Kuoh prince!"

The group of girls talked earnestly about the student and sincerely hoped he was not anything like the Perverted Duo Matsuda and Motohama. They were the biggest perverts in the entire school, as they liked to sneak a peek at the girls whenever they would change in the locker rooms. Thus earning them the nickname Perverted Duo and a bad reputation for women in the female student body. Motohama had black hair and large glasses and always kept his black blazer buttoned. Matsuda has a shaved head and always keeps his blazer unbuttoned. Already the two hated the fact of getting a new male student as they heard the girls talking about him like he was some sort of prince.

A minute later, the teacher interrupted the chatter telling the students to take their seats. "Alright, settle down, everyone. As I'm sure you all know, we're getting a new student today, so please make him feel at home."

Knock Knock Knock

"Come in," the teacher twitched his mustache as he was interrupted. When the door slid open, his grey eyes narrowed on the new student, "welcome, Mr. Hyoudou. I trust you didn't have much trouble finding the class."

"It wasn't any trouble, sensei," Issei walked into the classroom.

"Then would you please introduce yourself to your fellow classmates and tell us something about yourself?"

Facing the others, "good morning, everyone; my name is Hyoudou Issei, and one of my favorite hobbies is martial arts. I'm new here, so please take care of me," offering a bow. He could hear them whispering amongst each other, either giggling or gossiping about him. It was only a minute before the teacher asked if anyone had any questions for their new classmates. Issei mentally cursed his dragon genes when all of the girls raised their hands. He could see the stars in their eyes and had to restrain the urge to roll his eyes. Eventually, he pointed to a short-pink-haired girl sitting in the front.

"Hyoudou-san, where did you go before coming here?" The question was expected as they would like to know more about him.

"I have been homeschooled all my life." He answered in a neutral voice and then pointed to a girl with light brown hair in two ponytails and gold eyes.

"You say one of your hobbies is martial arts. What level are you, and are you interested in kendo?" She, like so many other girls, was admiring his physique.

"I'm a ninth-degree black belt and a master at both kendo and kenjutsu," aside from the training he received from his father and the dragons. The old man insisted he learned how to defend himself if his powers didn't work and hired different masters to teach him Aikido, Judo, Wing Chun, Boxing, and Muay Thai.

"Would you be interested in coming to the gym when school is over? The kendo club could use some help." Murayama and Katase looked pleadingly, hoping he would agree. Last year the Kendo club made it to the semi-finals of the national but didn't get to participate in the final match.

Issei found it hard to deny them as they looked so cute, and secretly he wanted to test their skills against his, "should be fun. It's been a while since I had a good sparring match."

"Yay," the two cheered.

A couple more questions were asked, like what else he'd like to do in his free time? Did he ever play sports? What his home life was like? Etc. The more he answered, the more the girls became enthralled with him, especially the two kendo members, as they wanted nothing more than to drag him to the gym so he could show them some moves. However, the perverted duo had tears of anger streaming down their faces as they silently cursed Issei for getting the attention of all the hotties. Thankfully, the teacher called for their silence and told Issei to sit at one of the open desks. Choosing to sit near the back and next to the window, Issei listened as the teacher continued his lesson. Truth to tell, he found it boring, having already known this stuff from his independent studies.

When it came time for lunch, the girls immediately requested that he join them though he kindly turned them down, wanting some peace and quiet. Heading outside, he found a spot under a shaded tree and ate in silence. A half-hour later, Issei decided to spend the rest of his time staring at the sky while contemplating his next move.

In the ORC, Rias and Akeno were playing a game of chess, "from what I've heard, he'll be in the gymnasium with the kendo club." Two of the other club members were standing behind Akeno. On the left was a handsome blond-haired boy named Kiba Yuuto from 2-A. The 17-year-old stood at 5'8 and was named the Prince of Kuoh for his good looks and wonderful personality, as he was the perfect gentleman in their eyes. "Is it true that you intend to recruit him?"

"I do," a smile adorned Rias's features, "there's something about him that I find intriguing. Koneko," her blue-green eyes fell on the girl standing next to him. Koneko Toujou was a short petite female first-year who stood around 4'6 with white hair and gold eyes. The front of her hair has two long bangs going past her shoulders and several loose bangs hanging over her forehead, and she wears two black cat-shaped hair clips. "I'd like you to shadow him and report anything you find out of the ordinary. If what I assume is correct, then we might have a new member joining us."

"As you wish, Buchou," she responded with an expressionless voice.

Later after school, Issei went to the gym, where he found the kendo club practicing against one another. A small smile appeared as he watched them train; the group was good, but he had seen better. Not a minute later, the two girls from earlier today, Katase and Murayama, approached after seeing that he had come. "Glad you could make it, Issei-kun. Everyone's been anxious to meet you," Murayama dragged him to the mat while Katase organized the others.

"Forgive me, but I do not have my equipment," Issei apologized, feeling a little naked without his gear.

"It's fine," she responded, a light blush stained her cheeks while tugging against his strong arm. "This is merely a demonstration," sure, that's what she said, but on the inside, her heart was beating in her chest. "All right, ladies, Issei-sama has agreed to spar and offer some advice on how we can improve. Does anyone have a spare shinai he can use?"

"I do," a girl whose black hair came up to hand over her shinai.

Thanking her, Issei took his shoes and blazer off and got into position as Katase stepped on the mat. Murayama agreed to be the referee. Once the two bowed and took their positions, she raised her hand and brought it down. "Begin!"

Katase immediately dashed forward, bringing her shinai down. Her attack would have hit Issei had he not sidestepped to the right; when she tried again, he dodged left. Then after another swing, he finally brought his shinai up to parry her attack and retaliated with his own. Blocking his strike, Katase tried again, but like before, he blocked it. This continued for a couple more minutes, with both combatants defending and trading blows. Katase was panting as he either dodged or parried her attacks as if they were nothing. Little did she know that Issei was taking it easy on her evaluating the girl's technique. If his goal were to simply eat her, then she would not have lasted as long as she did.

"Your technique is slipping," was all Issei said as she tried to attack him again, and before she could think of a reply, he knocked the shinai out of her hand with his own and held it against her nose.

Much to everyone's surprise, Katase, the second best, was defeated in only a short time. But, unlike her opponent, who didn't even break a sweat, she was sweating and trying to catch her breath. "Y-You. . .a-re goo-d!"

"Your quite skilled," he retorted with a smile. "Does anyone else want to spar?"

The girls stepped on the mat one by one to show him their skills and techniques. He could see how they made it to the semi-finals at the nationals; however, they did have their weaknesses. When he finished with the last member, he called for an end, "you are all skilled in your own rights, though I've noticed a couple of flaws. The main problems are that after you corner your opponents, you sacrifice your footing for a point, thus giving your opponent an opening to counterattack. The next set of problems would be your low stamina as a person could wait until you're too exhausted to continue, and finally, you need to maintain your composures. Keep in mind that kendo is about control and discipline. To be victorious, you need to out-think your opponents; lure them into a trap."

Despite being exhausted and sore, they listened to his advice as he told them that kendo was like playing chess or checkers. To win, they had to create a strategy. Learn to anticipate their opponent's movements and be prepared to take advantage of the situations. Also, Issei had them work on their offensive and defensive skills by taking them through various techniques and maneuvers. "Keep in mind that this is a contact sport; it'll require you to think ahead."

"Practice these exercises to build muscle memory, and always try to remain a step in front of your opponent."

Ddraig mentally laughed (what do you know? You can listen. By teaching them to be more energy efficient, they'll last longer. Way to be pragmatic, partner).

'You taught me well,' replying to the statement. Strategizing was one of the many things he learned when he was younger. Ddraig and his dad made sure to drill that into him. 'A fool who blindly charges in without a plan will always get themselves in more trouble than necessary. Working harder means nothing if you don't work smarter. You taught me that!'

(Glad to see you're taking our teachings to heart. But remember, you still have room to grow). His voice then became serious (what do you intend to do about the Fallen Angels in this town?)

'For now, it is best if we play by ear. I'm still going to do my nighttime search, though I have a feeling they'll seek me out soon enough.'

The rest of the time, Issei shifted between talking with Ddraig and helping the girls improve. From what he could see, if they followed his instructions, they'll make it to the finals, maybe even when the next tournament. But, of course, it will all depend on them adapting to different strategies and fighting forms. When the club ended, he gathered his things, said his goodbyes, and left the gymnasium. Deciding to take a walk around campus, he silently thought about the Fallen Angels, more accurately, the governor. Azazel may be laid back, but he takes his responsibilities as the Governor of the Fallen Angels seriously and does not tolerate disloyalty. After the first three-way war, they decided to call a temporary truce that kept the factions from openly attacking one another in huge ways.

His thoughts were interrupted when he spotted the Perverted Duo looking very intently through a small peek hole. The two were so enthralled with what they were doing they didn't even notice him coming from behind.

"You two have no shame, do you," the ice in his voice made them jump. "I've only been here for a day, yet you two are trying to get a glimpse at the girls while they're changing."

"Back off, Hyoudou," Matsuda glared. "If you were a man, you'd know this is a man's rite of passage. . ."

"We might as well live while we can, and if that means we get the snot kicked out of us for staring at these ladies' beautiful naked bodies, then so be it," Motohama added fiercely.

A big smirk crossed Issei's face, "glad to hear it because the girls you've been spying on will be arriving in five seconds."

"What!?" They both gasped. Sure enough, the kendo girls they were peeping on were glaring menacingly at them with their shinais in attack positions.

"Have fun, ladies," he said, leaving the girls to beat the two with their wooden swords. The only thing that could be heard was their screams of pain as the kendo club members beat them senseless.

Walking through the streets, Issei made a trip to the market to get some food and other necessities, then made his way home. Rounding a corner, he subtly threw his senses back to see if the person who had been tailing him was still around. 'You sense her too, don't you?'

(Indeed, I do partner. She's been following you since you left the school, probably on her master's orders. But do you feel that demonic aura around her?) If what he suspected was true, the person was not a normal Devil, nor did she have any malicious intent.

'She is definitely a Devil; that much is certain. However, I can feel a faint trace of foreign power coming off her.' Issei acknowledged, continuing his walk while deep in thought. Then it hit him, 'a Nekomata! That's interesting! Probably a Nekoshou if the signature I'm reading from her is accurate.'

In a couple minutes, he arrived at his modest two-story house, put his groceries away, and sat on the couch to watch tv. Then, just as he was about to close his eyes, his phone rang.

*Ring* *Ring* *Ring*

Snapping his eyes open, he pulled his phone out to see who was calling him. A wide grin formed on his lips as he pressed accept. "Lord Lucifer-sama. To what do I owe the nature of your call?"

The Devil King laughed, "how many times do I have to tell you, Issei, you do not have to be so formal, will me." Issei rolled his eyes at Sirzechs laid back attitude. Some things never change. "I just wanted to see how you were adjusting to your new life in Kuoh. It's been months since we last spoke. You don't call. You don't write. I thought something happened."

This time Issei laughed, "sorry for not checking in. How are things at home? Is Millicas still growing?"

"Of course. He's my and Grayfia's little trooper." Issei could hear the pride in his voice. "He misses you all the time and often asks when you'll come to visit." The little Gremory boy was 9 years old and inherited his dad's energetic personality. Millicas had also taken a liking to Issei, often referring to him as nii-sama.

"I'll make a note to pay a visit," Issei quipped. Maybe he should spend more time with the boy, let the child have some fun, and give his parents a break. But, then, his voice suddenly became neutral, "anyway, do not worry, school is fine. . .kind of tedious, to be honest. Though I suspect Rias-san is already aware that I'm not a human."

"Ria-tan?" The fondness in Sirzechs voice did not surprise the young man in the slightest. Sirzechs loved his little sister dearly; needless to say, he was a bit of a sis-con. "How is she? Has she approached you yet? Will you join her peerage?" He quickly asked.

"In order: She seems fine," 'still as beautiful as ever,' he mentally commented. "But I only caught a glimpse of her as I entered the school building. She has yet to approach me, but that might change soon. Regarding your last question, I am undecided." He replied. "As you already know, I'm half-dragon. So normal pieces won't be enough to make me part of her family."

Breathing a sigh, "that may be true. However, please consider the offer when she makes it. I know that will make her happy."

"I will think about it," Issei agreed.

The two talked for a couple of minutes, discussing several different things, especially his assignment to locate any of the Fallen Angels currently in Kuoh Town. Azazel was positive they were there for one reason or the other; after swearing loyalty to that warmonger Kokabiel, they basically turned renegade after renouncing him as the Governor General. Therefore, he no longer had any responsibilities to them. Their association with Kokabiel has branded them as traitors, and whatever punishment the Red Dragon Emperor would give them would be justified.

Later after eating dinner, Issei went on patrol, searching for his prey. Fallen Angels or not, he was positive they would be easy picking as they were a group of Mid and Low-High class individuals. Furthermore, he had prevailed against strong people from different factions before, so this would be relatively easy. Spending the next couple of hours searching only to turn up nothing, he finally returned home for a shower and went to sleep.

(0^0)

The rest of the week flew by with Issei settling into his new life of going to school like any other teenager and then patrolling the streets for the people associated with Kokabiel. At school, he quickly gained the title of the second Prince of Kuoh, with several girls trying to get his attention. Being polite, he let them down gently, though it didn't amount to anything as they persisted in their advances, earning the ire's from the boys, especially Matsuda and Motohama. True to their jealousy, they tried to get Issei in trouble many times with the student council and members of the Kendo team. Every time they would wind up in trouble as the person who they wanted to get punished would disappear or be surrounded by a gang of lovely ladies. In truth, Issei found it amusing as the perverted duo plans would always backfire. They had no tact. And blaming him for why the females of Kuoh detested them was just sad.

Aside from dealing with his classmates, everything seemed alright, as he would sometimes help the kendo club by testing their skills; training in the gym; just because he was a master did not mean he couldn't improve his combat skills. In class, he barely paid attention, choosing to look outside, and as much as the teachers would call on him to answer questions, he would give correct answers. Another thing that seemed to annoy the other men in his class as they hated how he became the top student even though he barely paid attention in class. Why would he? The teacher went over stuff he already knew; part of him missed the underworld. Mainly because, at least there, he could ignore having to do homework assignments.

On Friday after classes, Issei left the school with his mind on the new motorcycle he had commissioned from a well-known shop in the Gremory territory. Unlike the motorcycles in the human world, these were capable of flight much faster and more powerful when synchronized with the rider's aura. Speaking of aura, he decided to let a small amount of his out, hoping the Fallen Angels would pick up on his signature. (Are you sure this is the wisest move, partner? The chances of a fallen angel appearing are one in a million.)

'I know what I'm doing, Ddraig.' He began. 'Instead of being the 'Hunter,' it's time for me to be the 'prey.' We're practically fishing. This is my bait.' Looking down from the bridge, he relaxed at the sound of the slow-moving river below him, and a gentle breeze brushed against his face. He mentally smirked after sensing the arrival of one of his prey. Playing it cool, he acted like he didn't notice her presence.

"Um. . .excuse me." He turned his head to the source of the sound; standing a few inches away was a beautiful young girl, probably 16 or 17, and a couple inches shorter than him. She was dressed in her school clothes which consisted of a dark red jacket with the letter "P" embroidered in gold, a white undershirt, a red bow, and a green skirt with a thin white strip around the lower end of it. "You're Issei, right? Hyoudou Issei? A second year at Kuoh Academy?"

(Looks like your plan worked,) his partner commented. (The girl is a fallen angel; of that, I am sure. Keep your guard up, as this is clearly a disguise to mask her true form.)

Silently agreeing, Issei went with it, "that would be me. If I may ask, who are you?"

"Oh. . .right. My name. . .is Amano Yumma, and I wanted to see. . ." The nervousness in her voice sounded well-rehearsed and would have fooled any of the hormonal boys at Kuoh. Luckily, he had expected this confrontation, seeing through her facade.

"Yes. . ." Flashing a smile to boost her seemingly fragile confidence.

Yuuma's face became red hot, almost extending to her neck. She decided to take a chance, ". . .if you would be my boyfriend." A nearly dramatic sigh escaped her lips.

Pretending to think, he quickly formulated a plan, 'this is going to be fun as I'm sure you intend to kill me.' "Seeing as how we just met, I don't think it would be best for us to start dating. . ." Choosing his words carefully. The brief spark of hope in her violet eyes disappeared and was replaced with sadness. "However, as I am new to this town, I wouldn't mind taking a tour. . .maybe we can get to know each other better."

". . .Yay," she immediately perked up. "We can meet on Sunday at the Mall, say 11 o'clock."

"Works for me," he replied.

"Great, see you then," waving goodbye and turning to walk in the opposite direction, wearing a big smile on her face.

'That went better than I expected. Anything to say now, gramps?" Jokingly asked as she took the bait.

(Watch it, mister. While I admit your plan to ensnare the girl was brilliant, she still poses a threat. Her ability to mask her energy signature is commendable but not good enough to escape a dragon's attention. Stay on your guard, as you don't know what she might have planned!) Knowing his partner well, he had a feeling he knew what the boy was thinking. (Remember to focus on the job. Collect the information you need first, then finish her. Also, a Devil is hiding in the trees behind you.)

'Yeah, it's the same girl from yesterday. Koneko Toujou, I think her name is. . .' He then headed home for the day.

"I better report this to Buchou," the petite white-haired girl had jumped down from the tree she was in, sucking on a popsicle with an expressionless mask. The power she sensed from him intrigued her like his Sacred gear was about to activate or had already been so.

(0^0)

In the candle-lit Occult Research Room, the white-haired girl delivered her report about Issei.

"I see. So he will be accompanying the fallen angel on Sunday?" Rias sat on one of the couches contemplating several things. For some reason, she was glad he shot her down but felt a twinge of jealousy that he would be spending time with someone like her. It was like something from the core of her being was telling her to pursue him.

Koneko nodded and replied in a monotone voice. "Whether he knows it or not, I think his Scared gear is about to awaken."

However, Rias was not entirely concerned about the Sacred gear he might or might not have. Her heart and mind were elsewhere, trying to sift through her old memories. The black-haired beauty known as Akeno placed a hand on the side of her face and smiled.

"Ufufufu," she giggled, knowing her best friend was thinking deeply about her kouhai. "This boy must be something special if you are thinking this much about him. He is pretty handsome. If he was an apple, he'd be delicious. I wouldn't mind getting to know him better," licking her fingers as Rias's face became red.

"You will do no such thing, Akeno." Rias stood up; Akeno was an S&M, and she would eat him alive. Finding it hard to explain, she felt an attachment to the brunette. Then regaining her composure, "We need to make our preparations immediately. . . Everything else depends on him. Before he meets with the Fallen Angel, I will send my familiar with a flyer. Should anything happen, we will be there in seconds."

At the Hyoudou residence, Issei was on the phone with the leader of the Fallen Angels, informing him of who he had met and what her intentions were ". . .I am almost certain she intends to kill me."

"Damn it, Raynare," growled Azazel. She always made a habit of using the alias Yuuma Amano whenever in the human world. "That girl knows of my interest in those who wield Sacred gears. My guess is that after she attempts to execute you, she will blame it on me, saying it was under my orders."

Issei could hear the edge in his voice. "Do what you must. The more information you have on her, the better chance we'll have of learning their plan."

"Consider it done," hanging up the phone. Azazel wasn't wrong, as they needed information; killing a Fallen Angel without provocation would cause problems. Normally, that would be the case; however, Raynare and her friends were branded as traitors meaning that whatever he'd do to them would be legitimized.

There was also the matter of revealing himself to Rias and her peerage as the time for games is nearly over. The couple times he would catch her staring at him, she never once sensed any evil intent. So far, only three people are part of her peerage: Akeno Himejima, Kiba Yuuto, and Koneko Toujou. She might want to recruit him, as having a dragon-devil hybrid would no doubt help. Whatever happens, the choice will be his to make; this is what his father had in mind from the beginning, as even Dragons and hybrid Dragons needed companionship. Even though their race preferred solitary lives and chose to avoid interactions with other beings, hence the reason why several of them chose to live at Dragons Mountain. They were not incapable of forming alliances or befriending others.

A/N: This is my first High School DXD fanfic so I like to ask you all to be patient with me on this story. I know many of you have read or watched the show and have seen Issei as a Perverted Idiot. But in this story he won't be though that might change in the later chapters. Having been born as a descendant of Ddraig he will be a lot more power but not OP. He will come into his own and discover that power comes in all forms. For now please enjoy.

Issei has made his debut at Kuoh Academy and has gotten the attention of the ORC mainly Rias's who will remember her childhood friend, and request he joins her peerage. Little does she know is that he already aware of who she is from the minute he entered the school grounds.

Next Chapter: Meeting the Devils. Punishments or no?
