Chapter 1: I don't think this is Tahiti
The night had fallen over the vast plains of New Hanover as Arthur Morgan rode his trusty steed under the starlit sky. He had been chasing Francis Sinclair, the mysterious stranger who had spoken of time travel, for days. While the very notion of such a journey seemed preposterous, Arthur couldn't resist the itch of curiosity.
As he tracked Francis through the dense woods, the ground suddenly trembled beneath him, and an overwhelming sensation of disorientation swept over Arthur. He clung to the saddle as the world around him twisted and turned in a blinding burst of light. His horse whinnied and reared, throwing Arthur to the ground.
Dazed and bewildered, Arthur pushed himself up from the unfamiliar pavement. The surroundings were nothing like he had ever seen. Tall, shimmering buildings loomed overhead, casting eerie neon hues upon the streets. The air was thick with the scent of pollution, and the constant hum of machinery filled his ears.
"Where the hell am I?" Arthur muttered to himself, his hand instinctively moving to his hip, but his weapons were nowhere to be found. The thought of being unarmed in this strange place did not sit well with him.
As Arthur tried to make sense of his situation, he noticed a figure approaching him. A woman, her expression, a mixture of surprise and curiosity, emerged from the neon-lit shadows. She was cybernetically enhanced, and her features hinted at a life filled with hard choices.
"Who are you?" she asked, her voice tinged with caution.
"Name's Arthur Morgan," he replied, still trying to gather his thoughts. "I ain't rightly sure where I am."
The woman introduced herself as V, and the conversation that followed was a revelation to both. Arthur learned of V's unique predicament, with Johnny Silverhand's engram sharing her consciousness. He could hardly believe the tale she spun, but the stark contrast between this futuristic city and the Wild West he knew was proof enough that something extraordinary had occurred.
As the two unlikely companions stood in the midst of the bustling metropolis, their worlds collided in a way that neither could have anticipated. Arthur's arrival had thrown a wrench into the works of V's already complex life. Together, they would embark on a journey through this new, unpredictable landscape, where the past met the future in a collision of worlds and ideals.
