Chapter 1: Meeting The Captain:

Uneventful...quiet...and slow paced...That's how most of Chloe's life operated these days.

Wrapped up warm, cozy and inside of her blankets was how she spent her other days. Being at home, alone inside of her blankets took her away from reality and the every day struggles of her work life. The world of blankets and pillows was filled with peace, harmony and warmth.

That was until Chloe's alarm clock went off at exactly eight o'clock on the dot. Nap time was over and it was now time for Chloe to drag herself out of bed and get ready for work.

She dragged herself out of bed slipped her clogs on and headed for the bathroom to prep herself. She stripped down and began warming up the shower. She stepped in letting the warm water run down her body. She began washing her hair with efficient ease.

After a fifteen minute shower, Chloe stepped out with her head and body towels on her. She walked over to her mirror to check her eyes and face. She spent the next three minutes brushing her teeth. Her mouth now had the sharp minty goodness of mint flavor that would carry her through the day.

After checking herself out in her bathroom mirror, she made her way to the kitchen to prep her breakfast and favorite drink.

"Let's see, where are you?" Chloe continuously fumbled through the cabinets looking for what she needed. Eventually she found it; hot chocolate mix. Most people would look at her with a side eye, but Chloe did not care, she loved her hot chocolate and nobody was gonna take it away from her.

While she let the water boil for her hot chocolate and let her bagel be prepped in the toaster, she entered her bedroom to get dressed and ready for work. She walked over to her closet and pulled out one of her various work outfits. A dark blue blazer, with a matching skirt and black flats to complete the outfit.

Once Chloe finished getting dressed, she sat at her vanity table and did her makeup. She was never one to overdo it when it came to her appearance, in fact, she didn't know why she allowed her best friends to convince to waste money on all of this makeup. That could've went to more books for her to read in her downtime.

Chloe applied simple eyeliner and a bit of mascara to top off the look. She took one look at her self in the mirror and smiled, satisfied with her simple look.

She walked back into the kitchen and right on time, her breakfast was ready for her. She grabbed her bagel out of the toaster, putting some cream cheese and jelly on it for flavor, and prepared her hot chocolate in her 'I heart NY' mug. Let me enjoy myself before walking into the jungle. Chloe mentally thought to herself. At least I have my hot chocolate and bagels. Chloe smiled before taking a bite out of her breakfast sandwich.

While sitting down in the kitchen and having her breakfast, Chloe was also reading one of her favorite books growing up, which was the Magic Treehouse series. Although she owns the entire series as of now, she took a particular liking to the Night of the Ninjas book.

She vividly recalled the image of that samurai hunting down Jack and Annie scaring her as a child. In a way it still scared her. She always felt that something was lingering and one day, it would come for her. When would it happen? Would it happen? Chloe could only wait and see what the future holds for her.

Until then, she was going to keep enjoying her life and the bagels and books that were apart of it. It sure was a damn good day to be Chloe Harper. She loved herself and had a decent amount of confidence in her self esteem.

Chloe sighed before she closed her book, marking her chapter with the personalized bookmark her mother had gifted her a time ago. She facepalmed before beginning to look for her wallet, phone and keys.

Once she found her items and her purse, Chloe took a deep breath and headed for the door to begin another one of her uneventful days.

"Finally I'm here."

Chloe looked out her taxi window and eventually saw her workplace.

The Triskelion...

The place that was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters was massive. And unfortunately for her, S.H.I.E.L.D. had a strict policy regarding taxis. Taxis and Cabs were only allowed to come within a certain radius of the Triskelion, so that meant that Chloe had to get out and walk.

"Is this close enough ma'am?"

"Yes, thank you." Chloe bid farewell to the cab driver and even tipped him an extra for his politeness. Once the cab driver drove off, Chloe headed towards the main entrance of the Triskelion. She made a mental note that at some point, she would need to invest her money into getting her own car so she wouldn't have to deal with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s strict safety regulations regarding taxis and other forms of civilian transportation.

Eventually entering the Triskelion's main atrium, Chloe was greeted by numerous fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents and other S.H.I.E.L.D. employees. In return, she too greeted them back as she made her way to her office.

Eventually she arrived at her office and immediately began working on her S.H.I.E.L.D. assignments. She logged into her computer and immediately began the analysis process for her assignment. Chloe's assignment for the scientist proportion of her job was to try and find new and innovative scientific ways to medically improve the well-being of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s workers. At S.H.I.E.L.D., Chloe was both a gifted scientist and a nurse, and when the secretive organization became aware of this...somehow, they offered her a job to which she happily accepted.

While Chloe is often critical of the organization's approach to certain topics, she normally kept herself busy and quiet while she was at work, being on the the radar of S.H.I.E.L.D's top guns was the last thing she wanted to happen. She much rather preferred to be invisible than the talk of the town.

Now we're making good progress. Chloe mentally congratulated herself as she had made a good amount of progress with one of her assignments.

"Now if I just pair the molecular formula with the celiac, this should be enough before I go on my lunch break, maybe even enough to be done."

After a few more minutes of work, Chloe now had something to present to the higher ups of the S.H.I.E.L.D. science team for her presentation next week.

Inside Chloe's mind, she was screaming in excitement, but at the same time, she felt slightly saddened that the only things that provided excitement in her life was reading her books, watching her television and accomplishing normal achievements at her job.

Suddenly the happiness turned into small amounts of sadness and disappointment. "I really need to get out more, she said to herself."

Eventually, Chloe finished up her work and she was now allowed to go on her lunch break. Chloe gathered the basic belongings she needed, such as her book and her phone and began exiting her office.

"The food at the Triskelion today is not all that good whatsoever, I'll just get something to eat at the diner."

At a diner that was near the Triskelion, Chloe was peacefully eating and enjoying her lunch break. To make things better for the blonde woman, she had one of her favorite books with her so she could read while eating as well.

A good book plus two nice slices of vanilla cake was enough to make this the best day ever for her. The cool air outside, the birds chirping, the stakes inside Chloe's book were raising, and an overall peaceful atmosphere on this nice early afternoon in September of 2013. Everything was clicking perfectly for Chloe.

While it did sometimes make her feel sad and even lonely on the occasion, she loved and wouldn't trade her quiet and peaceful life for anything.

"It just gets better every time." Chloe smiled and continued reading, just finishing up her lunch and desert.

The book Chloe was reading today was, ironically, about a women's life being changed before her very eyes. Chloe had wondered if something like this would ever happen with her and her life. Maybe it would, maybe it wouldn't, one could never tell what could happen in the future.

But then again, in a world now filled with Aliens, Norse Gods with magical hammers and magical powers, hulking brutes and men In flying armors, it would be safe to assume anything could happen at any time, but for now, Chloe would worry about the present and not dig to deep into these things.

For now, Chloe chose to focus on reading her book and escaping the crazy realities of the real world. For now, Chloe would continue to try and delve into the world of fiction, and ignore the harsh demands of life and reality. Particularly from her job and the typical every day struggles of being an adult.

As the seconds passed and turned into minutes, Chloe continued to dive deep into her book, completing zoning out and forgetting about everything and everyone. She was really enjoying herself so much that nothing else seemed to matter. She continued reading and reading, flipping page after page, and there seemed to be no end to it at all.

Until, "Oh now, I'll be late!" Chloe groaned. During her long LONG lunch break, she realized much to her horror that she had overly focused so much on reading that she was nearing her clock in time and she for one didn't want to find out how exactly S.H.I.E.L.D. handled tardiness. "Crap, crap, damnit." Chloe rushed and fumbled through her bag, looking for the money and tip for her meal. Once she found it, she placed it on the table, quickly, but politely bid farewell to the waiters and waitresses and darted out of the diner, putting her bookmark in her book In the process.

"I need to hurry it up, come on Chloe, you can do this." Chloe eventually saw the Triskelion, and knew that there was still hope left. If she could just hurry she might be able to clock back in on time and avoid being put on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar. Chloe's luck was just starting to be on her side and she was happy on the inside.

But now was no time to be overly excited. She had to ACTUALLY get back on time in order for her to celebrate.

She didn't care for anything right now, not even the S.H.I.E.L.D. employees who were watching her with confused faces. None of them had any right to judge Chloe as they were all already within the Triskelion, Chloe was not, and to her, that gave her justification over her current desperate and hurriedly behavior.

Chloe was just about to reach the entrance when suddenly;

"Ouch." She suddenly bumped into something, or rather someone, but she didn't have time as she hit the ground hard.

"Ma'am, are you okay?" The tall, muscular figured asked with genuine concern.

Chloe looked upwards and saw that it was none other than the leader of The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D's golden boy

Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America

Chloe was amazed by the presence of the living legend. He was handsome, he was tall, he was absolutely shredded, and gorgeous. To Chloe, it was like looking upwards towards the gates of heaven.

"Um, Miss, are you alright?" The Captain asked once again.

Chloe's daydreaming was embarrassingly brought to an abrupt end. "Oh, Captain Rogers, America, St-America, I'm so sorry, I should've been watching where I was going, I didn't see you coming." Chloe realized how gibberish and embarrassing she sounded. She quickly turned away to hide the now glowing red cheeks of her that were blushing.

Surprisingly, Steve didn't seem all that bothered. "I'm fine, believe me, I've dealt with far worse than an innocent woman bumping into me. Excuse my impolite behavior, Are you alright? I want to make sure I did not hurt you."

Chloe was taken by surprise. Captain Rogers was afraid that he had hurt her, while she was worried that she might've hurt him. "Oh I'm fine Captain, don't worry about me."

Steve smiled. "Well, let's get you up off the floor now." Before Chloe could do or say anything, Steve effortlessly hoisted her up off the ground in bridal style, causing Chloe to yelp a bit. Steve looked a little apologetic.

"Thank you, Captain." She said, a little nervous. Chloe noticed some of the nearby S.H.I.E.L.D. employees looking at the both of them, increasing her nervousness even more.

"You're welcome, and call me Steve." He said with a genuine smile. "While I do greatly appreciate you addressing me as a Captain, I want people to see me as a normal man like the rest, just good old fashioned Steve Rogers instead of just Captain America like most of the world sees me as these days."

"Okay fine, Steve it is then." Chloe now had a smile growing. "You poor thing, I can't imagine being in a world that only sees you for your living legend status and not just a regular person trying to fit it."

"Oh don't be sad, it's not all bad, some of the people I run into, mainly the kids, appreciate me for being there when the time's right. Usually I try and stay out of the public eye when I'm not running around the world for S.H.I.E.L.D., but when someone usually happens to spot me, I try my best to be polite, mainly to avoid stirring up unnecessary attention." Steve sighed. "The only ones that genuinely seem to respect my privacy are usually the children."

"You'd be surprised how well mannered some of the children are these days, especially in the hands of the proper adults." Chloe says in response.

"Yeah, I love kids, that's something not a lot of people know about Steve Rogers outside of Captain America."

Chloe could not believe it. She was actually having a conversation with Captain America. She truly thought today was surely an odd day. She was interested in how Steve liked kids and decided to ask more regarding the subject. "Steve, did you ever dream of having kids of your own before going on ice in 1945?"

The sudden question made Steve's face change from positivity and brightness to a look of sadness, even depression, which is what Chloe thought. "Steve, I'm sorry if I went to far,"

Steve stopped her, "No it's okay, you didn't do anything wrong...during the war, I always imagined myself fighting for what's right, taking down the Nazis and HYDRA. I figured after that, I'd settle down with the love of my life, serve a bit more and than retire from active duty, but instead I wake up several decades later, which felt like waking up the next day. Then I see that the world's changed forever, the War has been won for nearly seventy years, and I feel like I was just left behind...a forgotten old relic in time."

Chloe could hear how saddened Steve sounded. Here he was, an innocent, emotional man all alone in the world he barely knew and there was no one there to help him. He gave so much to the world, mainly S.H.I.E.L.D. and the United States government, and never got anything in return. All he got from them were just creepy middle aged and older men patting him on the shoulder and posing with him for phony pictures and publicity.

What Steve needed was a real friend. One he could talk to, one he could call or text whenever he wanted to, and one he could vent his feelings to. She truly sympathized with the living legend, more than anyone else ever before. No one deserved to be this alone in the world, and so Chloe tried her luck.

"Steve, you just need a friend in the world, and I'm going to give that to you." Chloe took a deep breath before asking the question. "What's your number, Steve? You're in need of a friend that'll hug you, listen to your problems and frustrations." Chloe smiled. "And besides all that, just a good friend in general."

"But S.H.I.E.L.D.-"

"I don't care what S.H.I.E.L.D. restricts you from doing, Captain Rogers. They're not allowed to control who you talk to in your personal life, your not a robot, hell, your not even Captain America, you're just plain old Steve Rogers, a human being, just like me, now, number." Chloe decided to make a little pun. "That's an order, soldier."

Without thinking, Steve smiled and with no hesitation exchanged his number with Chloe's number. Steve did not feel uncomfortable here, in fact, for the first time in a long time, he truly felt comfortable and normal around someone. He didn't feel like a mindless man out of time, with this woman, he felt a little more human.

After a little more bonding between the two of them, Chloe realized something. "Oh crap, so much for me getting back on time, and I'm late anyways."

"Sorry for making you late."

Chloe merely smiled. "Don't be, it was worth it."

Steve's phone suddenly got an alert. Sadly that meant it was mission mode and time for Captain America to get the job done. "Ah, duty calls, just when the afternoon was beginning to get peaceful. What's your name?"

"Chloe, Chloe Harper."

Steve smiled once more. "Well I would tell you my name, but you already...yeah"

Chloe laughed at how goofy Steve's awkwardness was around a woman. "Don't worry, it's all right. Now go, the world needs Captain America right now."

And with that, Chloe and Steve bid farewell to each other before going their separate ways for the time being, Chloe on the other hand, while happy that she helped someone make a friend, she was worried about how S.H.I.E.L.D. would handle her tardiness. She did not want to explain to them that her reason for being late was because of conversing with Captain America...

A/N: And that brings Chapter 1 of my new story, Captain America: Legend Reborn to a close, for as long as I've been an MCU fan, which is basically my entire life, I'm baffled that this is the first ever Marvel Cinematic Universe story I've ever written. This is going to be a Cap X OC Infinity Saga Story (Steve's appearances in Winter Soldier, Age Of Ultron, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame) with Steve Rogers and my OC Chloe being the main characters of the story.

And for those who are curious and will ask questions, I'm going by the same simple timeline that the MCU follows. Right now, the first few chapters take place in September of 2013, which means that as of Chapter One it's almost a year after the events of Iron Man 3 in December of 2012, Prior to the events of Thor: The Dark World which would be in November of 2013, 6 Months Prior to Captain America: The Winter Soldier which would take place in March of 2014, and concurrent with Frank Castle's story that leads him to become The Punisher and whatever else that's happening in September of 2013 in the MCU. The only real retcons that I'll have in this story will be established eventually down the line. And you'll know which Part/Movie Section of the story we're in every time, trust me!

With that being, welcome all to Captain America: Legend Reborn, I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this story ;)
