W. D Gaster took a step outside of the shed, and into the bright sunlight outside. Upon seeing this, he had no choice but to smile.
"So… we're finally free…"
"YEP!" Papyrus said. "OUR GREATEST WISH HAS BEEN ANSWERED! AND IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF FRISK HERE!"
"Hello," Frisk said.
"A human?" Gaster said. "I could have sworn the king vowed to destroy humans?"
"H-he did," Alphys said, pointing to the souls that were currently powering the machine. "B-but, Frisk h-helped him find a better way."
"They helped all of us find a better way," Undyne added.
"Then, I shall vow not bring harm to them," Gaster promised. "Ah, but I have yet to properly introducemyself. I am W.D Gaster, Royal Scientist, and-"
"Actually, Alphys is," Hapstablook interrupted.
"Oh…" Gaster said, glaring at Alphys. "Thank you for informing me, Hapstablook. As always, your skills are appreciated. Anyways, I'm the former royal scientist. But, I don't know who most of you are…"
"I-I'm Dr. Alphys, current royal scientist. I'm g-glad to meet you…"
"And I am honored to meet you as well," W.D Gaster replied.
"I'm Undyne, Captain of the Royal Guard!" Undyne added.
"and i'm napstablook," Napstablook said. "i can tell you already know my cousin,"
"Oh, of course!" Hapstablook said. "Wingdings and I go way back!"
"What have you been doing as of late," W.D Gaster asked.
"Oh, just look up 'Mettaton' online, and you'll find all sorts of fabulous stuff! I was the Underground's biggest star… Mettaton… and now I have tons of human fans as well! Sadly, my robot body was destroyed, so I'm back to being boring old Hapsta," Hapstablook explained.
"Very interesting," Gaster said. "And of course, neither Sans nor Papyrus need any introduction. As you have likely figured out, they are… my children. I created them as a part of a mere experiment – to create monsters in a lab, with special abilities – but I got attached, and raised them as my own."
"Y-you created monsters? Like… artificial?" Alphys asked. "I'm s-sorry, I have to know more? This might be t-the key to curing… the amalgam- well, I want to know more, okay?"
"It was actually rather simple, I used only one magic sample – my own, and artificially grew it into a monster soul, as opposed to the normal creation method. I can send you my research notes, if you wish," Gaster said.
"Y-yeah, that'd be great! Uh, if possible?"
"That is why I said I can do it," Gaster said.
"O-oh, yeah… duh. Well…"
"i should have known you two would get along well," Sans said.
"Well," Frisk interrupted. "As interesting as all this is, I need help using this time machine."
"You wish to use the time machine?" Gaster asked. "You are a mere child."
"Maybe," Frisk said. "But it's my job to bring back Chara, Asriel, and the six humans who Asgore had killed. I need to go to the timeline in which I accidentally… killed Toriel…"
"I could certainly set up the machine to take you there," Gaster said. "But you must understand the dangers. You must accept the consequences of using my time machine."
"I accept," Frisk said.
"Very well," Gaster said. He walked up to the machine, and pressed a few buttons and dials, bringing up a chart of timelines. "Here is every timeline created after you fell into the underground."
Frisk scanned the chart. At the beginning, there were four branches – dying to Napstablook, dying to Toriel, accidentally killing Toriel, and making it past Toriel – this one continued onward until the next split, caused by the multiple attempts the fight against Dogamy and Dogaressa took. There were more splits Frisk could recognize – the Greater Dog, Mad Dummy, Undyne, RG 01 and 02, Muffet, and other random encounter monsters.
"This one," Frisk said, pointing at the third branch created.
"Indeed," Gaster said, pressing a few more buttons, and selecting the timeline. "It is ready. You may proceed."
"Do I… step into the capsule?" Frisk asked.
"Correct." Gaster said.
Frisk complied, and the capsule closed behind them.
"I have just checked the power levels. There is enough energy from the SOULs to complete the child's journey. I believe what caused my disappearance was a mere lack of power to complete my own planned trip."
"so… frisk'll be fine?" sans asked.
"I believe so," Gaster said. "In addition, they have more control over the timeline than any other monster or human. If they do get stranded, they shall be able to revert back to before this occurred."
"Good luck, Frisk!" Undyne said.
"Y-yeah, you can do this!" Alphys said.
"I BELIEVE IN YOU!" Papyrus added.
"I can't WAIT to see what you do!" Flowey added, with a mischievous rin.
"yeah, you can do it…" Napstablook said.
"We're all rooting for you!" Mettaton said.
"That was inspirational," Gaster said. "However, the human cannot currently hear you. The capsule is soundproof."
"...OH. WHY?"
"Sound is a form of vibration, a form of energy. No energy can come in or out of the time capsule. It is indestructible."
"I GUESS THAT MAKES SENSE," Papyrus said.
"I will now push the button," Gaster said. "Frisk will, hopefully, be the first person to go forward in time."
Gaster pressed a few buttons, including a confirmation button, and the time capsule holding Frisk vanished with a crack.
"Good luck…" Flowey muttered.
—-
"Frisk!" The voice of Asgore said. "You-"
"STOP THAT!" Frisk said, angrily, before noticing where they were. "Oh great, this machine killed me, didn't it?"
"No, it did not," Chara said. "You are merely in passing. This is the void between time and space. It is where you have already gone after your death, when the timeline you leave behind ends, and you create a new one. It is where Gaster and I have resided all these years. Gaster does not recall any of it, though, does he?"
"I don't believe he does," Frisk said. "For him it was a few minutes only."
"Of course," Chara said. "He may be talented and mysterious, but he is merely another monster. Monsters do not have the determination that we do. That is why he cannot remember this."
"I guess that make's sense."
"So, you remember your mission, correct?"
"I need to collect a boss monster soul," Frisk said.
"Indeed. You must be ready. Once Toriel dies, you will only have a few seconds to collect the soul before it is shattered. You must not hesitate to take the soul.. I understand it will be difficult for you. And one more thing? When you arrive in this other world, you will be at the time of your save, but in the location of the time machine. Other-you fell asleep between the time they saved and the death of Toriel. That will give you time to go back into the Underground.
"I understand," Frisk said.
"Good. You have arrived. Good luck."
And with that, Frisk arrived in another timeline. Their time capsule opened automatically, and they were in a neighborhood with very few people. The time capsule was in an empty lot, since Sans and Papyrus hadn't moved their house yet. Frisk immediately ran – both to get to the underground quicker, and to leave the city to avoid… Well, they'd rather not think about that. Since they were entering by the ruins, they had to take the monorail to Ebott Heights, then climb up a narrow trail up the mountain. It took over an hour to do all this, and they soon found the hole they originally fell in…
"Alright," Frisk said, taking a deep breath. "Let's do this…"
Frisk took the plunge into the underground. For a split second, they feared they would die from the fall, but some golden flowers at the bottom of the cavern stopped their descent. Frisk ran out of the narrow cavern, past the ajar door to the ruins, and down the winding hallways, ignoring any Froggits they saw on their way. All the puzzles were already solved, so there was little hassle for Frisk to go back through the Ruins, and reach the outside of Mom's old house.
Starting now, Frisk had to be sneaky. They did not want to encounter themself until the very end, when the soul was to be collected. Frisk walked into Toriel's house, and to their relief, didn't see their alternate self. They overheard a music box in the distance – they were asleep. Frisk decided to walk into the main room, when they nearly bumped into someone. Frisk looked up and saw Toriel, holding a slice of pie on a plate.
"Oh, hello, my child," Toriel said warmly. "Are you awake already?"
Internally, Frisk panicked. This wasn't supposed to happen? Would this change everything?
"Yeah," Frisk decided to reply.
"Well, I have made you some butterscotch-cinnamon pie," Toriel said, handing Frisk the slice of pie. "I hope you enjoy it!"
Frisk took a bite of the pie. "It is good! You make great pie, M- Toriel!"
Toriel chuckled. "Well, I am glad you liked it. I will go clean up your room for you,"
Frisk suddenly got very nervous. "Uh… no need, I can do it myself!" If Toriel walked into Frisk's room, she'd find a second Frisk, and that'd cause panic for sure.
Frisk decided no to let Toriel argue, and ran off towards their room. They decided to deliver the pie to… themselves? They quietly opened the door, and saw the Other-Frisk sleeping. Frisk set down the pie on the ground, and quickly shuffled out. They decided to hide in Toriel's room until other-Frisk woke up. They sat at the door listening, until an hour later, when they vaguely heard talking in the distance. Frisk carefully opened the door, and snuck closer to the living room.
"Did you know that snails… make very bad shoelaces?"
Other-Frisk was not impressed. "How to exit RUINS?"
Toriel sighed. "Give me a moment. There is something that I must do."
Frisk then noticed Toriel walking into the basement, followed by Other-Frisk. Frisk snuck down the basement stairs once the other two were gone, watching as Toriel tried to discourage Other-Frisk from leaving. Frisk crept along the walls of the basement corridor, making sure not to be detected by the others.
"You naive child!" Toriel said warningly. "If you leave the RUINS.. They… Asgore will kill you! I am only protecting you, do you understand?"
Other-Frisk did not comply. They kept going. Frisk followed them. Other-Frisk still kept going, even as Toriel gave them their final warning. Eventually, they reached the door to the ruins. Toriel blocked the door, while Other-Frisk approached her. Frisk kept watching.
"You want to leave so badly?" Toriel said. "Hmph. You are just like the others. There is only one solution to this. Prove yourself. Prove to me you are strong enough to survive."
Suddenly, Toriel launched a barrage of fire attacks at the child. Other-Frisk dodged them like they knew it was coming.
"Not again…" Other-Frisk said to themself. They readied the toy knife, and swung it at Toriel, slashing her and dealing damage. "I don't want to hurt you!"
Toriel ignored them, and launched another fire attack. Other-Frisk didn't dodge this one nearly as well, and got burned by the fireballs. They slashed Toriel with the plastic weapon again. Toriel prepared another fire attack. Other-Frisk dodged it, and swung once more at Toriel. The cycle kept repeating, as Frisk watched idly.
"You're really testing my patience," Other-Frisk said. "Please, just let me go home!" Toriel did nothing, and launched a fire attack that didn't even try to hit its target. "Fine, you don't wanna talk? I'll weaken you until you surrender. I'll prove I'm strong enough!" Other-Frisk slashed Toriel with the toy knife yet again. "Please! Just give up!" Other-Frisk begged. Toriel said nothing, but threw more fireballs that missed their targets. One of them almost hit time traveler Frisk, who had to duck out of the way.
"One more hit, and she'll give up," Other-Frisk said. They were at low HP, their clothes charred from fire attacks. They had Patience's ribbon in their hair. "It's just like that Froggit – I could spare it once I weakened it." They turned to Toriel, their toy knife ready. "I want to go home!"
The other Frisk swung their toy knife at Toriel one last time. Based on the health Toriel had left, and the damage their prior attacks had dealt, it should have just been another weakening blow. But something was different. Something unknown. The attack dealt over 200 damage, which was enough to cut Toriel's HP to zero.
Other Frisk simply sighed, relieved that the battle was over, and unaware of what they actually just did.
Toriel groaned, collapsing on the ground.. "You are stronger than I thought."
"Will you let me leave now?" they asked.
"Listen to me, small one. If you go beyond this door, keep walking as far as you can."
Other-Frisk suddenly realized what was happening to Toriel. Time-traveler Frisk remembered too, and moved closer. "Are you okay," They asked foolishly.
"Eventually, you will reach an exit," Toriel said weakly.
"No… no… no.. don't die!" Other-Frisk said.
Toriel struggled to breathe. "Asgore… do not let Asgore take your soul. His plan cannot be allowed to succeed."
"Toriel! Get up!"
"Be good, won't you?"
"Toriel!"
"...my child."
Upon hearing this, the other Frisk froze. Frisk, however, knew it was time to move in. They had been mentally thinking about the exact moment over and over, planning the exact second they'd take the soul. They didn't freeze like their past self did. Instead, they were determined to get that soul.
Toriel turned to dust, and scattered in the wind, leaving behind only a gray soul, shaking in the air, about to shatter too. Frisk lunged in, and grabbed Toriel's soul in their hands, not noticing the shocked reaction of their past self, and slammed it into their chest. The monster soul of Toriel merged with their human SOUL. Frisk started glowing with a red light, their eyes turning red as well. Horns appeared on their heads, similar to the ones Toriel had. For some reason, they started laughing madly, like it was the funniest thing in the world they just did, but they snapped out almost as quickly as they started.
"What…" Other-Frisk said, in utter shock.
"Just need to borrow this," Frisk said.
Frisk left the basement behind, and wandered all the way back to the entrance. There, Flowey was waiting.
"So, you did something new!" Flowey said. "Bravo!"
"Are you here to sabotage me," Frisk asked.
"No, this is much more interesting!" Flowey replied, with a devilish smile. "You've taken Toriel's soul! I can't wait to see what you do after this! Let me just test tomething…"
Suddenly, the usual ring of 'friendliness pellets' surrounded Frisk. But instead of dodging it, Frisk's instincts kicked in, and… they created a wall of fire that pushed back the bullets.
"Huh," Flowey said. "So, you used Toriel's magic to stop my pollen attack!"
"Wait, that's a pollen attack?"
"Uh, duh! Well, I'll help you get home. No chance I could ever fight you now… You have a human and monster soul, so you can cross the barrier."
Vines started surrounding Frisk, lifting them up to the top of the hole. Frisk climbed out of the Underground.
"Cya!" Flowey said through the invisible barrier.
Frisk went back down the mountain, their mind racing at a million miles an hour. They found their time capsule – still intact – and went inside. There was a button on the wall, which read 'recall'. Frisk pressed it, and the door shut. Shortly after, the time capsule disappeared, with Frisk inside.
"Congratulations," Chara said, as Frisk was In Passing. "Your first mission was a success. You have absorbed your first Soul. You must continue, though. Absorb the human souls."
"Aren't I supposed to save them?"
"And you will," Chara said. "In time. But in order to do so, you will need the power they provide. Toriel's soul will let you absorb the others. You will become unimaginably powerful. But you will need to learn to control that power. But there is another thing I am here for. I need to show you something."
Frisk's journey through the void ended as quickly as it began, as Frisk arrived back in the monster world.
"SEE, IT CAME BACK!" Papyrus said. "I KNEW IT WOULD!"
"It was meant to come back within a minute, and it did," Gaster added.
"I was j-just worried," Alphys said.
The time capsule opened, revealing Frisk. Their skin was paler, nearly white, and they had horns. Their eyes were glowing red. They took a step out of the capsule… and then collapsed.
"Oh dear… Frisk, are you alright?" Undyne asked.
"I'm- I'm fine," Frisk said hoarsely. They got back to their feet.
"YOU LOOK DIFFERENT," Papyrus pointed out.
"Oh? Yeah, I guess I do."
"W-what happened to you?" Alphys asked.
Sans took a look at Frisk. "What did you do."
"I took it. Her soul… it's mine now!" Frisk said, with a confident grin, until what they did finally hit them. "Oh my god… I killed her… no, that wasn't me…. But it was!"
"deep breaths, kiddo," Sans said. "But explain."
Frisk kept breathing. "So… in another timeline, I accidentally killed her… and reset afterwards to fix it. But now… I went back… and took her soul for myself! What am I going to do… I don't want to do this anymore… Chara, I…"
"Just calm down," Gaster said. "Leave them alone, Sans. Everything will be okay."
"How do you know that?" Frisk said. "Look at me! This isn't something I should be messing with! Do you know what happened last time someone tried messing with this type of stuff?"
Gaster started to reply, but Frisk interrupted him. "Chara and Asriel died! They were killed because of this! I need to leave…"
"FRISK!" Papyrus said. "WHAT-"
"No. I can't leave yet…" Frisk said, snapping out of their anger. "I've already gone too far. I need to see this through."
Frisk gazed at the six souls. "I will save you." Frisk turned back to Gaster. "Sorry about that. So… these souls, they're generating unlimited energy, correct?"
"That is indeed the case," Gaster said.
"Is it possible we could generate energy, and store it, that way we'll have enough energy for future uses of the machine? Once enough is generated, these SOULs could be freed."
"That may be possible. But it might take time. While the amount of energy produced by these SOULs is infinite — as in, it will never run out, the rate at which the energy leaves the soul is limited by the transfer rate of the connecting wires. I believe a superconductive wire would be able to transfer enough energy, but that only would work in the coldest room of Snowdin. The storage of the energy would not be in issue – I have developed a compact battery capable of storing more energy than the CORE would generate in five trillion trillion years. Getting everything set up would take around a week, I'd estimate. That does work, right?"
"I have no clue what any of that means," Frisk said. "But a week would work. I'd be able to use that time to figure out how to bring back the other humans. I'll have to talk to Chara about it."
"Very well then. I believe that is everything for today. Dr. Alphys, would you be willing to help me with this project over the next week?"
"S-sure! I'd be honored to!"
"Perfect. Well, I must get going. I am eager to catch up with my sons properly. Where do you live, by the way?" Gaster said, looking to Sans.
"WE LIVE RIGHT NEXT TO THIS SHED! AND EVERYONE ELSE IN HERE LIVES ON THIS SAME BLOCK, TOO!" Papyrus explained.
"Good to know. Farewell, good people," Gaster said, as he walked out of the shed, Sans and Papyrus with him."
"Well, it's getting pretty late," Undyne said. "We gotta get going, too. Don't wanna miss the premiere of the new episode of Woof Woof Huggy Ugly!"
"Of… what?" Frisk asked.
"It's a spinoff of MMKC," Undyne explained. "I think it's better, it has more action! Ask Alphys to tell you about it – not right now – it's pretty good, I think you'd like it!"
"Uh… okay," Frisk said.
"Oh n-no, it's starting in two m-minutes," Alphys said. She and Undyne took off, Undyne yelling a goodbye behind her as she ran.
"I guess you two will be going too," Frisk said to the ghost cousins, the only people left in the shed.
"yeah," Napstablook said. "happy and i've both got a lot of stuff to plan."
"Our next concert will be greater than ever!" Hapstablook said. "Oh, and I'm gonna design an entire gallery of Mettaton suits! Alphys showed me this comic, where this rich guy has a lot of powerful suits, and I want to do something just like that! EX and NEO are just the beginning! Oh, this is gonna be just fabulous!"
"Good luck on that," Frisk said. "That sounds really cool! Or should I say… metal?"
"That was not a good pun," Hapstablook said. "I've heard that one a thousand times before. Well, I hope to see you again soon! C'mon Blooky, let's get out of here!"
The ghosts floated off through the roof, leaving just Frisk… and someone else, who was silent throughout most of the previous exchanges.
"Well, now it's just you three," Flowey said. "Are you proud of what you did?"
"What do you mean… us three,' Frisk asked.
"You, Toriel, and Chara, duh!" Flowey said. "Y'know, your already pretty powerful with just two souls in there! I can't wait to see what you do once you've taken the rest!"
"Seven souls, and you become a god," Frisk said. "That's the power I need to save them."
"And you're sure you won't use that power for evil?" Flowey said.
"Of course not!" Frisk said defensively. "The whole reason I'm doing this is to save the lives of eight people, including you!"
"Maybe that's what you say now. Y'know, I was once the same. When I first had the power to SAVE and LOAD, I did what you did – I helped people, made things better for everyone. I did everything I possibly could, said everything to everyone, did everything with everyone. Then one day… I decided to kill!" Flowey said, smiling. "Oh, the mischief I got up to! And there were no consequences at all. I wanted to kill everyone, including Asgore, so I could finally get the SOULs, but I couldn't get past that comedian!"
"You mean… Sans?"
"Oh yeah, he's a real threat if you fight him for real," Flowey said. "He cheats the rules, attacks you as you pick items, doesn't let you take your turn, uses unavoidable attacks… I could go on! But it doesn't matter. You'll see for yourself soon enough…"
Flowey tried to burrow away, but the bottom of the pot the was in stopped him. "Oh, come on!" Flowey said. Frisk picked up the potted Flowey, and left the shed, making sure the SOULs were hidden away first, and walked back to their house, which was next door.
"So, you're just gonna go back home?" Flowey asked.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I?"
"While you look like that?" Flowey said. "How will you explain it?"
"I'm good at that kinda stuff," Frisk said, knocking on the door. There, Asgore and Toriel were waiting.
"FRISK!" Toriel said, immediately grabbing her child in a hug. "I was so worried about you!"
"I'm fine, Mom," Frisk said.
"MK called me, and told me they lost you, and we checked everyone's house, and you were nowhere to be found! Actually, they were gone too," Toriel added. "And then I saw the news, and that flower was battling Mettaton, and… oh, Frisk, I'm so glad you're here."
"I'm here, and… I brought a friend!" Frisk said, unveiling Flowey. "This is Flowey."
"Hi! I'm Flowey the Flower!" Flowey said.
"Aww, aren't you adorable," Asgore said.
"You brought him HERE?" Toriel asked. "I will have none of this!"
"C'mon, can I keep him?" Asgore asked.
"You do not live here," Toriel said. "If you wish to keep him, you can… at your own place. Actually, you should probably leave."
"Ugh… fine," Asgore said, getting ready to leave.
"Sorry about that, my child," Toriel said. "Are you okay? You look pale." Toriel looked closer at her kid. "And why do you have… horns? Something about you seems off."
"It's nothing," Frisk lied. "It's also a long story. Basically, Gaster had this machine, and…"
"Did you just say 'Gaster'?" Toriel asked. "He has been dead for a long time…"
"We brought him back," Frisk explained. "I really do want to explain everything to you, but… I can't… not yet. Hopefully, if everything goes well, it'll only be a week until I can explain properly."
"...My child, I am very sorry," Toriel said. "I hope everything goes well for you."
"Thanks, Mom," Frisk said. "I'll make sure it does…"
Frisk went into the kitchen, and grabbed a bag of chips, before going upstairs to their room. "I'm probably going to sleep now," Frisk said, before they decided to lie down in bed, and fall asleep.
"Frisk!" The voice of Asgore said. The void again.
"Can you please stop doing that, Chara," Frisk said annoyedly.
"I find it amusing," Chara said. "I have no intention of stopping. Have you figured out how to actually bring back the others yet? I highly recommend figuring that out."
"Well, their souls are still intact, it's just their bodies that are destroyed,' Frisk said. "We need to figure out a way to regrow their bodies."
"Well, I am sure Gaster can help you with that," Chara said. "Anyways, I have to show you something. I will do this for every timeline you create. It is what would happen if that timeline kept going. First up – the timeline where you got killed by those humans after defending the ice cream seller. If that timeline continued, it would have caused Asgore and Toriel so much grief, losing their child. Asgore, enraged, would start another war, and Toriel would take her own life after losing her eighth child. Ebbott City would be bombed by the human military, and monsters would go extinct. Not a good ending, is it?"
Frisk could not reply.
"Good thing you reset. Similar things happen in every timeline created when you die in the underground – but in those timelines, Asgore becomes a god, and wipes humanity out instead. Not a good ending, either. I will make sure you see what could have been, had the consequences of your actions been allowed to play out."
"What happened in the timeline I just left?" Frisk said.
"In the timeline in which you kill Toriel, not much changes until you face Undyne. Undyne becomes relentless as she finds out you killed someone, and you end up killing her. Once Asgore is slain by Flowey, Mettaton takes over the underground as a dictator, 'dissapearing' those who don't worship him. Alphys ends her own life, and Sans and Papyrus become Mettaton's 'agents'."
Frisk said nothing.
"I guess you left a bit of a mess, didn't you?" Chara said. "I just thought it would be ideal to make you aware of what would have happened. However, it does not matter. I have erased that timeline, as I will for all the others you visit or create until everyone is saved."
"So… it's like it never really happened?" Frisk said.
"Indeed." Chara said. "I leave you for now, partner. We will meet again. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up."
"Wake up, Frisk!"
"Wha- Chara- huh?"
Frisk awoke, noticing that Toriel was looking at them.
"I'm awake, I'm awake," Frisk said.
"You said something about 'Chara'," Toriel said.
"It's nothing, Mom," Frisk said. "Just a bad dream."
"Alright," Toriel said. She was still worried about Frisk, but figured that saying something now would only make it worse. "By the way, someone is here to see you,"
Frisk made their way downstairs – SAVE-ing first – and saw Monster Kid was sitting at the table, eating a bowl of cereal.
"MK!" Frisk said. "Hey!"
"Hey, Frisk!" Monster Kid said. "Glad to see you're ok! Why did you dye your hair white?"
Frisk seemed surprised – upon looking at the reflective mirror, they realized their hair had turned white, but only on one half. "Oh, I don't know," Frisk said. "Sometimes you just gotta change things up, I guess. I'm glad you came over, by the way."
Frisk liked hanging out with Monster Kid – they were currently Frisk's only friend that was around the same age as them.
"Your mom said I should," MK explained. "And I wanted to come over, too. Hey, what's with the horns?" Monster kid gasped. "Wait. Were you a monster all along!"
"Nope, just a human," Frisk said.
"Anyway, Undyne still wants to do training today," MK said. "Do you want to come along?"
"Sure, it'd be a chance to test something out," Frisk said, remembering the fire magic they used on Flowey. "How's your training been going?"
"It's been going great! So, remember when you fought Mettaton, and his arms fell off, and he said 'who needs arms with legs like these?' Well, I thought it would be cool if I created a kicking attack! So I've been working with Undyne and Papyrus to create an attack that uses magic and kicking! Maybe I could do it like soccer!"
"Ooh, that's a good idea," Frisk said.
"Also, where were you yesterday," MK asked.
"Oh, I was busy with something," Frisk explained. "Sorry I forgot to tell you. But today, I'm not gonna be busy… hopefully… so we'll be able to hang out like we planned!"
"Yay!" MK said. The two finished their breakfast, and then went out to Undyne's place. There, an odd collection of people were waiting – Mad Dummy, Undyne, Hapstablook, Papyrus, Alphys, and Asgore Dreemurr.
"Perfect, the stragglers are here!" Undyne said.
"Sorry we're late," Frisk said. "Just eatin' breakfast."
"Whatever. Whatever! WHATEVER!" Mad Dummy said.
"HERE IS HOW THE GAME WORKS! ALL OF YOU MUST HIDE, EXCEPT FOR ONE OF US, WHO MUST FIND THE OTHERS! THE HIDING ZONE IS – ALPHYS AND UNDYNE'S HOUSE, AND METTATON'S HOUSE! JUST STAY WARY OF NAPSTABLOOK, SHYREN, AND LEMON BREAD! NOW, WHO WILL BE THE FIRST SEEKER?"
"We will decide to use the Random Wheel!" Hapstablook explained. He had a wheel that had icons for everyone involved.
"Where did you even get that," Asgore asked.
"No time for questions, dear, you must simply spin the wheel!"
"Okay," Asgore said, before doing as Hapsta said and spinning the wheel. It spun fast, but landed on the first seeker – Undyne."
"Alright, you know the drill, hide from Undyne."
"WHAT? This isn't even training!" Undyne said. "Training… is done like this!"
At that, Undyne tossed a spear at Mad Dummy.
"Exactly!" Mad Dummy complained. "What's the point of me being here, if I can't even do my job!"
"I'm sure there's something much better you can do with your life than being a simple dummy," Hapstablook explained.
"I hate you so much I can't even DESCRIBE it!" Mad Dummy said.
"Oh, what did I ever do to you? Aren't I your favorite, Maddy?
"DON'T CALL ME MADDY!" Mad Dummy yelled, before throwing a knife attack at her ghostly cousin. It didn't do much. "BUT NO!"
"Ah, difficult as always," Hapstablook said. "One of these days you'll calm down, I know it."
"Maybe when I find something better than this stupid DUMMY to live in," Mad Dummy said.
"Maybe you should inhabit a chair," Asgore said. "Then you would be… 'Mad Chair'."
"No."
"ENOUGH CHITTERING!" Papyrus said. "IT'S TIME FOR BATTLE! THE ONLY RULE IS THERE ARE NO RULES! NOW, FIGHT!"
"Ooh, alright!" MK said. "Hey Frisk, watch out!"
MK ran over to Frisk, jumped in the air, and kicked them twice, boosted by magic.
"Hey, that's a cool attack," Frisk said.
"Ohohoho!" Hapsta said. "You think that's cool? Then watch this!"
Multiple thunder attacks started flying towards Frisk, who was able to dodge them. "Now, that's cool! Does anyone else have any cool new attacking moves?"
"AS A MATTER OF FACT, I DO!" Papyrus said. "LAST NIGHT, DAD AND I WORKED ON A NEW SPECIAL ATTACK THAT WILL ACTUALLY WORK PROPERLY, AND NOW I'M FINALLY GOING TO TEST IT OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME! BUT FIRST, DODGE THIS!"
Papyrus threw a large bone towards Frisk, who dodged it, and then threw another. As the bone started careening towards Frisk, their instincts kicked in, and an orange blaze deflected the attack – Frisk had created a fireball.
"What the…" Asgore said.
"YOU CAN USE FIRE?" Papyrus said. "WOWIE!"
"Yup," Frisk said.
"THAT MAY BE POWERFUL, BUT NOT AS POWERFUL AS MY SPECIAL ATTACK! GET READY!"
A massive skull-shaped blaster appeared from behind Papyrus.
"HERE COMES MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" Papyrus shouted. The eyes of the blaster started to glow, as a light beam started to charge up in its mouth.
"Alright, do it!" Frisk said.
Then, the blast fired. Frisk dropped to the ground, and the thick beam of energy grazed them barely. Frisk had to close their eyes – the light was too bright – but when the light subsided, they opened their eyes.
"Woah…" Frisk said. They looked behind themself, and noticed that the blast ripped a hole through Mettaton Mansion. "That's crazy…"
"INDEED IT IS," Papyrus said proudly. "IT'S CALLED THE "GASTER BLASTER!". SANS HAS THEM TOO, BUT HE DOESN'T USE THEM SINCE HE'S SUCH A LAZYBONES!"
"Wow, I had no idea you could do that!" Undyne said. "If it still existed, I'd put you on the Guard for sure!"
"Well, next week I have a meeting with the president," Frisk said. "If all goes well, I can get him to put you two in some important human role. Undyne could take over the police department – maybe get those two cops kicked out."
"What two cops?" Undyne asked.
"Oh, two cops who chased me down and tried to kill me. It didn't… actually happen though, so you might have trouble finding evidence.
"What on earth are you two talking about," Asgore said.
"Oh, just an… inside joke," Frisk said.
"Fair enough," Asgore said. "I think it is time we have refreshments. I will go home and get them Come with me, Frisk."
Frisk obliged, and the two of them walked around the corner, heading towards Asgore's house.
Asgore sighed, then turned towards "Frisk, you must explain how you did that magic. A human cannot use magic unless… unless they have absorbed another monster's soul. And not only that, but your physical appearance has changed. I look at you, and I see… Tori."
"Well, I don't know what to tell you," Frisk said, shrugging it off.
"Frisk," Asgore said. "Let me look at your soul."
"I haven't done anything!" Frisk said, angrily.
"Nobody is saying you have," Asgore said. "I just want to see your soul, and try to puzzle out how you gained magic."
"Alphys and Gaster are already doing that. I don't need you to-"
"Frisk!" Asgore said, beginning to raise his voice. "I do not understand why you are being so… fussy about this! Surely, you'd just comply, if you had nothing to hide! You have never tried to avoid any previous CHECKs Toriel and I have done."
"And why are you being so insistent," Frisk clapped back. "Why do you need to see my soul? Is it so that you can put it inside of a jar? Like you did to the other children?" Something inside Frisk just… snapped. "You will not hurt Frisk like you did to the others! I will not lose another child! Lyra, Tanner, Aria, Riley, Oliver, and Sally were all the sweetest children, and you murdered them!"
"What… You… What have you done!" Asgore said. "You are not yourself, Frisk!"
"Really?" The other person said. "I believe we're doing just fine!" They readied a blast of fire to attack Asgore with. Asgore deflected it, entering battle mode, and revealing Frisk's soul. It was the usual red soul, but it had a gray soul inside of it.
"Oh no…" Asgore said, realizing what was going on. "Toriel…"
