Renji doesn't get it until he does.

"So what?" Chad asks looking at Renji unfazed.

"He's clearly stoned and so are you and you don't find a problem with that! There's a hollow nearby and you guys are like sticks in the mud!" Renji is at his limit with these two. He knew Ichigo was smoking but now Chad? When did this start and when did humans start relying on anything other than alcohol to drown their problems?

"Come on, Renji calm down! Look, Urahara gave us a break. A well needed one and I am going to enjoy it the right way!" Ichigo says then takes a large drag before passing the blunt to Chad.

Chad, the kind soul he is, offers the blunt to Renji just in case but as soon as the Soul Reaper shows his disgust does he brings it to his own mouth.

"I can't stand this! Now we can't even spar, so what is the point of me even being here?" Renji slams his fist on the table knocking over a tea cup.

"Watch it!" Ichigo picks the cup up and glares. "Go get a towel, man, you're here so Chad and I can relax! I thought Hat'n'Clogs explained this already."

"When does Renji listen..." Chad mumbles to Ichigo but it's clear for Renji to hear.

"That's it! I don't care if it's not a fair fight, we are going to the training room and hashing this out right now!"

Ichigo chuckles at that and so does Chad.. Hash... "It's not funny and I am serious! Let's go!"

"Okay, but you do know there is a way to make this a fair fight, right?" Ichigo takes another drag then brings it over to Renji.

"Come on, what, afraid Soul Society is gonna throw you into rehab?"

Renji watches Ichigo throw his had back laughing at the jab, clearly rehab didn't work.

"Fine! Give me that!" Renji takes the blunt and takes a pull and immediately starts hacking his brains out sending both Chad and Ichigo into more laughs.

{One hour Later}

"It's actually pretty damn nice." Renji is laying against the wall. "No wonder..." Ichigo nods in agreement and Chad takes a sip of tea.

Urahara opens the door and is hit with a wall of smoke. "Oh dear, I had a feeling."

"Of course you did, he's a freeloader!" Jinta yells out from behind.

Some ways away across Karakura town is Imoyama-san getting his ass handed to him. He cries out as he is slammed by the Hollow.

'I thought I was getting back up!'

I honestly think Chad is one of my fav. anime/manga characters, love his story and character development.
