4Hi hope your all well I have been re-watching the hole series of Avatar again and it got me think what if in a parallel World where a young Air Nomad Avatar had to grow up fast the war started in a more modern time similar to Korra's time.
He was only 10 when the war started and finished when he was 15 it took an addition two years to restore balance to the world Similar but instead of the Air nomads being completely whipped out a few masters and students managed to escape and go into hiding from each temple until the war was over, only Gon knew where they where hidden preventing the genocide of his people.
One last thing the timeline both worlds are on are the same time Gon is not 100 years behind Korra it just the earth kingdom attack and the fire kingdom attacking happens in two separate points in each timeline.
This take place during the Korra time line with our Avatar Gon recovering after the effects of the war.
Book One
Air
Chapter: Prologue
On top of a building stood a a teen no older than 17 with black hair that covered his head but has the wind blew showed a tattoo of the air nomads mastery of Air bending with a pair of grey eyes that looks like they have seen beyond there years. he ware a black trench coat, black top, and black pants with a belt and the symbol for air on the belt buckle with a pair of black boots, he didn't hear any gloves show off the air bending arrow tattoo's on his hands.
The boy is Avatar Gon and he finally had restored peace and balance to the world after fighting 7 long years in a war with the Earth Nation he look out into the distance not really focusing on anything, his mind get going back to the past on how much he lost he had lost so much his friends and family, Gorra his flying bison who was his best friend in the hole world and the last gift of his people. Sure, the air Nomads had started returning during the war and only received their mastery a year after the war, there was one thing that wouldn't go away, Something haunting him and it was the pain of loss not only looking the people he cared about but also losing himself, some of the things he had to do he knew he has no right to call himself an air monk anymore. pulling out a painting of him and his friends smiling down at the painting, tears fell onto it as he cried.
"I'm sorry everyone, I couldn't protect you and I know you would want me to move on but..." Gon looked down at the street below "I believe the actions I made where the right ones but I could have bin stronger.."
Gon chucked his glider then jumped and grabbing his glider as he decided to take a fly round the city which always helped him clear his head, his hear blowing back revealing the blue air tattoo's on his forehead when all of a sudden his hole body seemed to get heave and the sound of his heart beat seemed to echo through out his mind as he lost balance as he slightly lost conscious causing him to free fall.
plummeting down to the ground Gon slowly opened his eyes then shot them open, realizing what was happening and quickly motioned his arms doing some Airbending to cushion his fall then propel himself up making him flip in the air as he landed Spider-Man style taking a second then got up.
"Avatar Gon are you ok? Here" A little Earthbender girl said come running over to the teen avatar with his staff and her mother flowing behind.
"Getting down on one knee Gon smiled at the little girl and gave her a slight bow "I'm fine thank you, I really apricate you bringing my staff too me" Gone said to the young Earthbender as he rubbed her hair then stood up then bowed to the mother "Thank you very much"
"Oh no need to thank me, If we weren't out looking for an Earthbending teacher for my daughter we wouldn't have noticed" The Mother replied weaving her hand.
"Oh how is the search going" Gon asked remember how hard it was for him to find a master but that was mainly to most of the earth nation was against him.
"Not very well all the places are ever too expensive or move too quickly for her" The Mother said as the daughter looked defeated, Gon Brushed his hair back then smiled getting down on one knee then bowed one again to the little girl.
"I would be honored if you would let me teach you Earthbending" Gon said shocking both the kid and mother as as he got up with a smile, the mother was constantly thanking him as the child was running round in circle cheering.
Looking back up to where he felt that sensation in the sky wondering what it was but planned to meditate on it later because right now he had to see to his new student.
"EARTH"
Gon Earthbends a chunk of Earth in and instantly throws it flipping to the side, motioning his arms as another piece of Earth rises up coursing him to punch forward shooting the Earth off.
"FIRE"
Korra punched forwards a few times as fire shot from her fists spinning round she swipes her hand round causing her to make a fire wall the do a back flip kick as a flame trail followed her round.
"AIR"
Gon is stood on his index finger then spins his legs round shooting a couple air waves forward then flips onto his left les as he leans back into a T position showing hair out his right foot and left fist then flipping round into a crouch position slicing his arms down as two wind blades shot forward.
"WATER"
Korra motions the waster up spinning in the spot as the water follows as she crouched down she shoots it off to the left, moving her arms back as she shot up bending more water spinning around again as the water circles around her crouching down slightly she shoots the water forward.
"Only the Avatar, Master of all four elements can maintain balance to the World but for the first time in history the world has been given two Avatar's, this is there story"
XXXX SOUTH POLE XXXX
Just off the southern water tribe a bright light shined through the starry sky, plummeting down to the ground Gon slowly opened his eyes then shot them open, realizing what was happening and quickly motioned his arms doing some some Waterbending to change the snow into water then into Ice making an Ice slide as he slid down to his feet then Skidding to a stop putting his hand to his head as he tried to block out the snow from his was.
"What's going on last time I checked I was in the Earth kingdom and it was day time" Gon said as he looked around seeing his glider stuck in the snow.
Using Airbending he bends the air to bring his glider to his hand spinning it round a few times turning the glider back into a staff then puts it on his back as he starts walking to see if there are any land marks he could see that would tell him if he was in the south or north pole, lifting his arm up he used fire bending to create a flame coming out the palm of his hand so see could see better.
Looking around he wished his coat hood to try and block out the snow from his vision but the harsh temperatures of the south was getting a bit much even for his air and fire bending to keep him warm. Continuing his search he really wished he was wearing warmer clothes, the ones he's wearing are not exactly built for the freezing cold though no bender, even the water tribes don't dare go out in a storm like this.
After treading through the snow for a couple hours Gon was shivering even his breath was showing now but he had worked out he was in the south pole and worked out that he was still quite a distance from the southern water tribe. sighing he continued to soldier on tripping a little every now and then as he was started to get extremely tired trying to search and use his bending to keep himself warm at the same time.
"I need to find the southern water tribe or shelter soon or I'm gunna freeze" Gon said as he managed to find a hill thinking he might see something anything that would help him.
Managing to stumble up the hill he could see tent's and igloos it was a little different but it was definitely the southern water tribe, smiling he goes to take a step only quickly holding his hands forward catching himself shaking breathing heavily gritting his teeth his eyes and his Marking started glowing from under his clothes and hair as he landed back and...
"RAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH" Gon roared out in the avatar state as he shot out a giant fire breath out his mouth in hopes that someone from the water tribe saw it he pushed the last of his strength into this fire break, the flames died down to a stop as his eyes and air nomad marking turn back to normal as he smirked then collapsed.
XXXX SOUTHERN WATER TRIBE COMPOUND XXXX
Korra and Katara where sat in the main tent enjoying a nice cup of tea as they talked about Korra's bending exams in a couple months or Katara's adventures with Team Avatar sharing laughs at some of the antics that they would get up too and to Korra it sounded like they had quite the adventure something that she wants to have...
Realizing the time Katara thought it would be best that they head to bed which the Avatar nodded in agreeance as her polar bear dog Naga got up to follow the two as they put there coats on and walked out the ten still talking happily when suddenly they heard...
"RAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH" Turning to where the scream came from, they could see a masses flame shooting up into the air and the scream continue Katara could tell it was a fire bender crying out for help and got worried when the massive flame started to die down meaning he was losing strength.
"Korra, Quickly get on Naga and go to that flame before it goes out, Lord knows how long he been out in the snow" Katara instructed the Avatar who jumped on her polar bear dog with a lantern.
"On it Katara we will have him and be back before you can even say Waterbending, Lets Go Naga!" Korra said as she rid off towards the giant flame as Katara watch as the flame slowly died out.
"Katara what is the meaning of this" One of the white lotus members demanded as they watched Korra Leave "What is Korra doing going out into a storm like this"
"Fulfilling her duty's as the avatar, there is a Firebender caught in the storm and has just used the last of his strength to let out a distress signal Korra will be bringing him back here.
"This is against Aang's wishes for us to keep Korra safe" Another White Lotus member said with anger as Katara shot him a glare at the two members.
"Don't talk to me about what my Husbands wishes where since I was there when he asked me to teach the next Avatar Waterbending" Katara told them sternly as she found it annoying when they try enforce Aang's wishes against her like she didn't know him.
"I think Korra will be fine whoever sent that distress flame must be getting weaker by the minute in that storm, if Korra doesn't get to him quickly I don't think he will make it" Tonraq said as he got a lantern and lit it.
"Heading home?" Katara asked the southern water tribe chief who nodded.
"Senna get's annoyed when I spend so much time with Korra and she doesn't" Tonraq said Laughing a little before putting his hood up and making his way out the compound.
"Safe travels Tonraq" Katara said with a smile then went back to a serious face 'Hurry Korra before it's too late'
Korra ride's Naga into the storm around the area where they saw the giant burst of fire, circling round Korra looked for any kind of tracks or movement that might might aid then, Korra looked to her Polar bear dog who was sniffing the air and the snow trying to catch a scent. Korra kept looking around luckily the snow what starting to die off to a snow flurry.
"Come on Naga even if the snow has let up a bit we need to find this guy" Korra said as she jumped off Naga and decided to look for any kind of tracks hoping the snow hasn't completely covered them.
Korra continued to search for the the next few minutes thinking that if someone wanted to bee seen they would need a high advantage area, Seeing a hill towards the compound Korra made her way over as Naga ran straight over sniffing around as if she found a scent. Naga let out a roar catching Korra's attention who ran over to her animal guide who stood over some human tracks wagging her tail.
"You did it Naga you found some tracks, Go find him girl" Korra said as she got back on the Saddle "Lets hurry he must be close"
Naga roared as she ran off following the tracks as she made her way up the hill stiffing around till Korra's Lantern light shined over Gon who was starting to be covered by the snow, Korra quickly got off Naga and ran over to the half conscious boy who she notice was her age but from Gon's point of view call as he's blurred vision focused on Korra all he thought was.
'What a cute girl' Gon thought before passing in out as Korra lifted him up.
"Hey come on stay with me!" Korra said worriedly as she quickly put him on the back of Naga "ooof your a bit heavy aren't ya huh what's this" Korra turned and picked up Gon's Staff "This is an Airbending Staff but why... Ahhh get him back then ask questions"
Korra attached the staff to the back of Naga's saddle as she got onto as she did Gon fell forward with his head resting on her shoulder making the Water Avatar blush, but brushed what over thoughts she had of the Air Avatar as she knew she needed to save him.
"Hurry Naga we need to head back now" Korra instructed as the polar bear dog roared and ran back to ward the compound, Korra looked back at the mysterious guy resting on her and thought 'He is kind of cute'
Korra and Naga made there way back with the unconscious Air Avatar as record speed seeing the compound as they got closer Korra started shouting out for help, It seemed the hole compound woke up as the gates opened up and everyone come running out dropping that they where doing. Korra came racing in and skidding to a stop as she looked around for Katara who made her way over to the front of the group.
"Katara he pa..." Korra couldn't finish as Gon had slid of Naga with a fud causing Katara to run over and Korra to jump down as everyone gathered round.
"Everyone get back " Katara said as she listened for his breath and sure enough it was there "Korra take him into the healers tent he's alive beardly" Korra nodded and picked the mysterious boy up onto her her back as she made her way into the hut followed by Katara leaving the white lotus members confused and angry that this outsider is in there compound "Korra lay him down on the bed and get the fire ready we have to warm him up"
"Got it" Korra replied as she laid the boy down the walked over to the fire place in the middle of the hut and lit it with some Firebending then kneeled down next to Katara as she watched her Waterbending master warm some water up "What now Katara"
"Next we need to gently remove his wet clothes to the bear minimum" Katara told her as the two slowly and gently removed the clothes leaving him in his boxers but what shocked them the most wasn't that he had the body of a warrior or the scares to prove it, no it was the marks of a master Airbender all over his body, the tattoo's Katara was all too familiar with, brushing his hear back revealing the signature blue arrow on his forehead.
"Katara does this mean he's... " Korra asked as she looked at the air nomad tattoo's getting a nod from Katara confirmed that he is an air bender "But that doesn't make sense that was clearly Firebending we saw"
"Hmmm this is a mystery but for now we must start healing him, let begin because we have a long night ahead of us" Katara told her pupil who nodded and the two covered there hand ins water with Waterbending and started healing the boys body from frost bite or any other injury's that may have resurfaced from being in the freezing cold.
XXXX TWO DAYS LATER XXXX
Gon slowly woke up to the sun light shining through the huts cracks sitting up he looked around has his vision turned from blurry to normal stretching he thought back on what happened last night but all he really could remember the was the worried look on that girls face, not wanting to worry about it for now it for now Gon saw his clothes neatly folded on the bottom of the bed and his staff resting on the wall. Getting read didn't take the Airbender long once he put his fingerless gloves on then his coat he used Airbending to bring his staff over to him.
"So you those tattoos aren't just for show you really are an Airbender" Katara said as she walked into the hut.
"Wha- Ahhh" Gon said as he turned and tripped falling back only to catch himself with Airbending and brought himself back to his feet "Sorry about that are you the one who healed me"
"Yes me and my pupil" Katara said as she smiled.
"Thank you very much" Gon said happily as he bowed to the older Waterbender.
"I have a few questions for you young Airbender but it would be best if you answer when everyone is present" Katara told him which confused him, did she not recognize him he is pretty well knowing in the four nations "This way please and my name is Katara"
"Nice to meet you Katara my name is Gon" Gon told the water bend but what shocked him was her reaction to his name.
"Nice to meet you Gon please follow me to the conference room" Katara told him as the two made their way out the hut.
Gon looked around and what he saw shocked him, this wasn't the southern water tribe that he remembers infect this looked like it was a place to train soldiers and it made him start thinking was the water tribes planning an attack on another nation while everyone is still recovering, but what shocked him next was seeing there girl who found him which he could tell was wearing water tribe clothes Earthbend. Gon stopped and watch Korra practicing her Earthbending Katara spotted this and watched with him.
"She not half bad at Earthbending" Gon said quite impressed at at her form and technique making Korra laugh.
"Yes she has managed to master Water, Earth and Fire but she struggle to do any Airbending" Katara told him making Gon look at her with confusion.
"That's not possible" Gon said to the older Waterbender who now was equally confused at the Air Avatar.
"Of course it's possible because Korra is the Avatar" Katara told the Air Avatar who was speechless what what shocked Katara and anyone that knew him to be an Airbender was what happened next.
"Its impossible because I'm..." Gon didn't get to finish as he heard Korra shout "KATARA MOVE OUT THE WAY!" Gon instantly used used Earthbending to bend an earth cover over them which shocked everyone as a bolder smacked against the the cover and rolled on to the ground, Gon instantly lowered the earth cover "Because I'm the Avatar"
This had everyone confused and shocked no more than the the Avatar's which where staring at each other, they didn't know what to say, Gon stay quiet as Korra walked over to him Gon shifted his body to to fully face Korra. Gon stood 6'2ft while Korra stood 5'7ft making her have to look up at him she was confused and angry not at him but the fact that she was the first Avatar in history to have to share the Avatar title but she was brought out of her thought when Gon spoke.
"As I said I'm Avatar Gon and I'm familiar with all my past selves but I've never met you before so your not from my past you must be from my future" Gon said putting his hand to his chin trying to work out what was going on.
"That's not possible me and Katara have been over all my past lives at leased a hundred times and there is no recollection of you in history" Korra snapped back still quite annoyed with the situation.
"Maybe we should discuses this inside would be better" Katara told them making the two avatars nod and start to follow the elder Waterbender "Oh Gon could you just answer something for me"
"Sure Katara" Gon said as he looked at her curiously.
"What year do you think it is?"
"What? its 370 why?" Gon asked confused.
"What are you talking about its..."Korra couldn't finish as Katara spoke up.
"Would that be AG or BG" Katara asked as the two Waterbenders looked at the confusion on on the Air benders face.
"AG or BG? Sorry I don't understand?" Gon replied as they made there way through towards the conference room, Katara had a guess to what was going on but Korra was just as confused as gone, the year was wrong and how could he not know about the fall of the air benders.
Hundreds of questions where running through Korra's head that she wanted answers too, she figured that he was the one who did the Firebending a few nights ago when she found him, then there was the Air nomad tattoo's all over his body, then he Earthbended, Did Tenzin teach him air bending, Did Tenzin know he was and Avatar and not say the more she thought on a question the more questions popped into her head. The three benders made there into the council room where three other members where seated Senna filling in for her husband who is the Chief of the southern water tribe and two other members one was a water tribe partially ball and large man called Valron (Not his real name) and the other looked to be a member of the fire nation who was equally as old with a long mustache called Chu (not his real name), the three member's seated stood up and turned to look at the three that just entered.
"Gon these are three of the top members here Senna who is also Korra's mother, Valron of the water tribe and Chu of the fire nation" Katara introduced them then as Korra when and stood next to her mother followed by Katara, Senna smiled and bowed while Valron and Chu just staring at the Air Avatar which he just ignored.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all my name is Gon and I'm the Avatar" Gon replied getting a shocked face of Senna and annoyed faces off Valron and Chu.
"I think it would be best if you start from the begin Avatar Gon" Senna told him as she motioned for him to sit down which he happily did.
"Ok where do you want me to start" Gon asked as Katara asked for him to go from when he found out he was the avatar to when he arrived at the south pole.
XXX A FEW HOURS LATER XXXX
After telling them his story his story and his journey through the War against the Earth Kingdom and how his people where nearly whipped from existence but had managed to survive by going into hiding, having to hid his harking to the point it just felt natural and he felt comfortable in his clothes, some of the member where still skeptical so he did a few demonstration's of each of the elements showing undeniable proof that he is who he said he was.
"... then I was just stood on a building in Omashu ready to head back to the my home when suddenly my body felt really weird then all of a sudden I was in the south pole in that massive snow storm but that's my history if I was a better Avatar and wasn't so worried about my own Ideals maybe they would..." Gon said trailing off as gritting his teeth and he fought back the tears the pain of log still strong
Korra knew what it meant to be the Avatar but the way Katara talked about the war and sure some parts where bad but they also managed to have fun the similarity's between the two wars had it so close they until the final battle and when it came down to it, she under stood now some how he's here in there world like the spirit world being its own plane even known at another world.
"Ahhh I get it now your from another world" Korra said happily working it out as Katara smiled as she came to the same conclusion "That would explain why there are so many similarity's between our world's so your the Avatar of that world"
"I need some air" Gon got up and made his way outside.
"Is it something I said?" Korra asked confused and concerned for the Air Avatar.
"I think the realization was too much for him, he must have so much to think about especially if he's stuck in this world" Senna said sadly.
"Duhh problem solved he can stay here in the southern water tribe with us" Korra said happily knowing she can get a start on her Airbending before Tenzin get's here
"Absolutely not" Chu and Valron said sternly in unison
"And why not he's and Avatar too and there is probably so much I could learn from him" Korra argued back a little annoyed.
"I agree with Korra having the boy here would be more beneficial to her training" Katara told them "And I know Aang wouldn't just kick him out he would help the boy"
"And that boy is going through so much pain right now for us the war has been over for a long time now we've had time to heal and morn our loved one but Gon hasn't and he's all alone in both worlds" Senna added in getting a bit motherly as her motherly instincts kick in.
"I'm Gunna go check on him" Korra said as she got up and chased after the other Avatar she was still annoyed there being a second Avatar but shed get over it seeing more benefits to this as well as finally making a friend her own age.
this is how the Legend of two avatar's came together to face the threats and keep balance to the world!
