Chapter 1: A Purple Haze and a First Step for Mobiankind
Compa glanced out the window, captivated by a shooting star streaking across the night sky. Curiosity piqued, she grabbed her jacket and ventured towards Virtua Forest.
Hours later, Neptune found herself in an unfamiliar darkness. "Is this a power outage? A blown fuse? Maybe it's just my brilliance radiating," she joked to the emptiness. "Hello? Anyone there? Ugh, I hope I don't step on anything gross! Leftovers? This is weird!"
A mysterious voice filled the void. "I apologize for the delay. Have you been here long?"
Startled, Neptune exclaimed, "A voice! Who are you? Am I dead? Heaven?!"
"Please calm down," the voice soothed. "I am Histoire, a tome. You fell from Celestia, and I require a favor from you and the girl beside you. You cannot see her because you are unconscious."
"Fell? Where? Hell? I should've finished my game backlog!" Neptune lamented.
"Um, Neptune? Please take a deep breath. You are not dead, merely unconscious," Histoire clarified.
"Huh? Ms. Heavenly Voice? How do you know me? Are you a fan?" Neptune inquired playfully.
Histoire sighed. "I am Histoire. I record Gamindustri's history with the goddesses."
"Sure, keep your secrets," Neptune muttered.
"I apologize for my bluntness," Histoire admitted. "I have limited time. Please, Neptune, lend me your powers to stop Arfoire and end the Console War..." An alarm abruptly blared, cutting Histoire short.
Back in Compa's room, Neptune jolted awake with a yell. "Shut up! Did I break something? Wait, where am I?"
Startled by the noise, Xoruxshy, a young Mobian fox kit, clung to the ceiling with her claws.
Compa entered, holding fresh gloves. "Oh, you're awake! Good morning, sleepyhead! Well, actually, good afternoon!" She noticed Xoruxshy clinging to the ceiling. "Oh dear, do you need help getting down?"
Embarrassed, Xoruxshy mumbled, "Yes, please."
Compa helped Xoruxshy down. Neptune, confused, looked around. "This isn't my room, is it? Is it yours? And why am I tucked in?"
"Last night, I saw a shooting star," Compa explained. "That was you and the kitsune. You were stuck in the ground like Soul Edge, only it was you. The kitsune got stuck in a tree with her claws. It seems her gloves ripped, so I brought her new ones. Here you go, miss."
Neptune tilted her head. "Soul Edge? You mean Soul Calibur? Wasn't it Excalibur that was stuck?"
Compa chuckled nervously. "Well, you were unconscious, so I pulled you out and brought you here."
"All by yourself? That's cool, thanks! You're stronger than you look," Neptune complimented.
"I go to nursing school," Compa explained. "Moving bodies is part of the training." She introduced herself. "By the way, I'm Compa."
"I'm Neptune! Thanks for saving me, Compa! Hope we can be friends!" Neptune replied enthusiastically.
Xoruxshy, now wearing the new gloves, bowed slightly. "And I'm Xoruxshy. Thanks for the help. I didn't even realize my nails could get that sharp. I should trim them. Hope we can be good friends too."
Compa struggled to pronounce Neptune's name. "Nep-... Nepee-... Nepta-... Nepel... Neput..."
Neptune laughed. "Neptuna, Nep-Nep, Nepper, it doesn't matter. You can call me whatever."
Xoruxshy blushed. "If you need a shorter name, call me Millie."
"Okay, then! How about Nep-Nep and Millie? It's nice to meet you both!" Compa greeted them warmly. Noticing their injuries, she offered to examine them. "Oh, I noticed you're all bruised. Allow me to take a quick look. And Millie, have you had your shots?"
Xoruxshy's eyes widened. "Um, that's not really necessary..." she stammered, noticing Compa brandishing a giant needle. "Yikes!"
A few minutes of lighthearted chaos ensued as Xoruxshy narrowly dodged Compa's well-meaning but aggressive vaccination attempts. Finally, defeated, Xoruxshy sat on the bed, sporting a few new needle marks.
"Owch," Xoruxshy grumbled. "I don't think I'll be sitting down for a week."
Compa, sheepish, put the needle away. "So, um, why did Nep-Nep and Millie come from the sky and get stuck into the ground?"
Neptune, ever the enigma, shrugged. "I...don't know... I don't remember anything before coming here..."
Xoruxshy, now composed, spoke up. "As for me, I was given a quest notification to explore this world. Which reminds me..." She pulled out a device that made Neptune's eyes sparkle.
"Gamer System: Quest Objective - Investigate the New World complete! Welcome to the Gamer System 1.5. Here are your stats:" The scene zoomed in on the system displaying Xoruxshy's detailed statistics.
Compa, utterly confused, looked between them. "Wait a minute. Gamer System? Stats? What's going on?"
The scene shifted back to Xoruxshy, who was naming the AI companion in the system.
"How about Nicole Zwei?" she asked.
A holographic lynx with a new color scheme materialized beside Xoruxshy.
"Thank you for naming me, Xoruxshy," Nicole Zwei replied. "I hope to be of great use to you in the future."
Neptune's eyes were wide with wonder. "Cool...!"
Compa scratched her head. "Anyway, Nep-Nep, maybe you're suffering from amnesia."
Neptune considered this. "Really? Well, I guess so."
Xoruxshy winced internally. "Oh man, I really hope I didn't crash into her. Sonic won't ever let me hear the end of it," she thought worriedly.
"I'd like to help, but I don't have anything to cure amnesia..." Compa lamented.
"Oh, don't worry about it, Compa," Neptune reassured her. "No need to get yourself down over it."
"But..." Compa started to protest.
Neptune cut her off. "Um, you know what? I'm a bit hungry. Uh, do you have any food I could eat?"
"Food?" Compa repeated. "Well, I don't have much, but how about some pudding?"
Xoruxshy's ears perked up. "I could go for some pudding. Do you have chocolate?"
Neptune's curiosity was piqued. "Pudding? Um, what's a pudding?"
Compa's eyes widened in surprise. "You don't know what a pudding is?"
"Nope, never heard of it. Does it taste good?" Neptune asked eagerly.
"Just a minute. Let me bring you both one..." Compa replied, heading to the kitchen.
A scene unfolded of Neptune poking the unfamiliar yellow blob with a cautious finger, her eyes sparkling with childlike wonder.
Compa chuckled. "That's how pudding is, Nep-Nep. Now, take a bite!"
Neptune scooped a spoonful and brought it to her mouth. As the pudding slid down her throat, her eyes widened further.
"Whoa!" she cried, "The tantalizing sweetness melts away on my tongue! This is the best!"
Xoruxshy, having finished her chocolate pudding, let out a small, satisfied burp. "Excuse me," she mumbled, a touch of embarrassment creeping into her voice.
"No worries at all, Millie!" Compa beamed, enjoying the lighthearted atmosphere. "I'm glad you both like it."
After finishing their snacks, a renewed sense of purpose settled over the three girls.
"Your homemade pudding was a blast, Compa!" Neptune declared, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.
"I'm happy you liked it," Compa replied with a smile. "By the way, what are you going to do now, Nep-Nep?"
Neptune tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Well, I want to know what happened, so I'll go back to where I was found."
"Ooh! Then, I can take you there, Nep-Nep!" Compa offered enthusiastically.
Xoruxshy perked up. "Hold on! I'm coming too!" she announced. "Nicole just gave me another quest notification. It says to follow Neptune and join her party!"
Neptune grinned, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Okay then! On with the adventure!"
Compa grabbed a map from a nearby shelf and spread it out on the table. "Alright, Nep-Nep and Millie, let's see where you two landed..."
Their fingers traced across the map, a mix of excitement and uncertainty hanging in the air. This seemingly ordinary encounter had set them on an extraordinary path, unknowingly thrust into the heart of a celestial conflict and the ongoing war between the CPUs. Little did they know, their arrival in Planeptune was destined to change the fate of this world forever. What awaited them beyond the horizon of Virtua Forest was a whirlwind of battles, quirky characters, and a quest that could rewrite the very fabric of reality.
