It was nighttime and Sanya was doing one of her night patrols with her Magic Antenna out while humming a song. As she flew above the clouds to look at her surroundings she stopped singing when she saw a distant light.

Strike Witches: The Miyafuji Twins

Chapter Six

We're The Same

The light was a Junker Ju 52 and inside of it Mio wasn't currently happy as she, the twins and Minna were sitting inside the fuselage of the plane, and Minna took fast notice of it.

"Your displeasure is written all over your face," she said. "Calm yourself, major."

"They call us all the way over there and then start telling us how the budget is totally fubar," was Mio's reply. "Of course I'm totally pissed off. They owe us."

"They're just panicking. We're currently the only ones consistently getting results at this point."

"They're not going to see anything other than what they want until it's far too late."

"That's just how the warmongers behave. If the Neuroi had never shown up, they would have had you, me, and everyone on this team split into sides and killing each other instead."

"Those damn bankers think they run the world," Mio added as she turned to the twins, who was sitting next to her as they stared out the window. "Sorry about that, Miyafuji. I wanted to show you two around Britannia so you two could know how beautiful her people can be."

"It's okay," Yoshika and Yoshiki said as they looked at the major. "We was just thinking about how everybody in the military is so different…"

The twins was interrupted when they heard Sanya singing the strange tune from the radios.

"Um…do you hear something?" the twins asked quickly.

"Hmm?" Minna added. "That's just Sanya singing. We're approaching the base. She came to escort us."

Sanya fly next to the plane on Mio's side, and saw the twins waving to her.

"Thanks, Sanya!" the twins said cheerfully.

In response, Sanya blushed flew away from the plane and dived into the clouds. However, her song continued.

"Is Sanya really shy?" Yoshika and Yoshiki asked next. "She just flew away."

"She may be a little shy," Minna told her, "but she has a pretty voice, and she's a good girl." Something caught her attention, and it didn't feel friendly. "Hold on. What is it, Sanya?"

"Someone is looking at us," Sanya radioed back.

"Someone is what?" Mio tried. "Repeat that, please. I'm having trouble reading your transmission."

"I'm sorry," Sanya said. "There is an unknown bogey inbound from the direction of Syria at high speed."

"So is it a Neuroi?" Minna asked.

"Yes, I believe it's them. Its speed is too great to be a normal aircraft."

Mio had lifted her eye patch and couldn't see any anomalies. "I don't see anything, Sanya."

"It's in the clouds. The target cannot be acquired visually." Sanya added.

"So that's how it is," Minna said.

The twins were was worried. "Um, major…what are we supposed to do?"

"Nothing we can do," Mio told her.

"We're trapped here?"

"Without our Striker Units we're just regular passengers on this plane," Minna told them. "Do you think they planned it this way?"

"The Neuroi aren't capable of such complicated strategies," Mio told her.

"The target is still inbound, fast," Sanya radioed in. "Contact in three minutes."

"Sanya," Minna told her. "Try to buy us time until back-up arrives. Avoid a direct engagement if possible."

"Yes, ma'am. I'll draw their fire away from the transport."

With that said, Sanya took off, her rocket launcher in her right hand.

"Watch closely Miyafuji." Mio told the twins.

"Okay." Yoshika and Yoshiki said. "Sanya can find Neuroi even you can't see?"

"Yes! Her magical abilities allow her to see beyond the horizon." Mio explained.

"Wow!" Yoshika and Yoshiki explained.

"That why we always have her assign night patrol it's make sense." Minna told the twins.

"It's no different then your healing magic." Mio said. "You two heard her song right? That one of her spells she uses it to guide the transport." Minna added.

Soon Sanya started firing two rockets as they made two explosions in the clouds and she fired another one. "No return fire." she said as she continued to fire.

"Just as I thought. She's able to battle them before they even visible." Minna said.

"We can't see any Neuroi at all." Yoshika and Yoshiki said.

"You two can take Sanya's word from it." Mio said, "Sanya that's enough! Return to base!" she ordered.

"But it's not.." Sanya tried to say when Minna's voice radioed in, "Good work you were able to protect us by yourself."

Meanwhile below the clouds the rest of the 501st is flying.

"It's raining so hard." Erica said.

That's when Barkhorn saw something, "Look up there."

Eila desperate from formation and flew up. "Sanya!"

"Hold on Eila you can't go alone!" Perrine said.

"No she be fine!" Barkhorn said. "Looks like the fight is all over."

Back at the base.

"So?" Barkhorn asked as she stood there, looking at them, "No one saw the Neuroi except Sanya?"

Lucchini was busy sleeping on a chair, curled up into a small ball. Shirley was standing behind the chair, a warm jacket covering her.

"It stayed hidden in the clouds and never showed its face," Mio told her.

"'Kay…" Hartmann said as she, Minna, and Mio were sitting on the couch, Barkhorn standing behind it. "But I heard that it didn't even bother to shoot back at her. When does a Neuroi do that? Are we even certain it was a Neuroi?"

Sanya, who wasn't sure herself.

"Maybe it was a shy Neuroi," Lynette tried. When she got no response from it, she added, "Or maybe not…Sorry…"

"Maybe she's right," Perrine said as she sat in another chair, sipping some tea. "Maybe they were connecting on the same wavelength, like sisters perhaps."

Eila, who was with Sanya, stuck her tongue out at Perrine.

"How a Neuroi thinks is not known," Minna pointed out. "We need a clearer picture of their intentions."

"Until we have that, there's no way to predict what they'll do next." Mio added. "There's a high likelihood the Neuroi that failed will return over and over until it succeeds."

"I agree," Minna said in response. "Because of that very reason, I'm going to set up a special unit specifically for night missions. Sanya."

"Ma'am?" Sanya asked.

"Miyafuji."

"Uh!" Yoshika and Yoshiki said in surprise. "Yeah?"

"Starting immediately, the three of you will constitute the new night combat team."

"Are you really sure you want us?" the twins asked.

"You're the only other two with experience on this Neuroi," Mio pointed out.

"But… We only sat there and watched…" Yoshika and Yoshiki said.

The female twin found her head being pushed down as Eila said, "I'd like to volunteer for night combat!"

"That's great," Minna said. "So Eila makes four total for the night patrol."

"I'm sorry," Sanya said as Minna started talking about reworking something out. "This is all my fault. I let the Neuroi get away."

"No nobody said that Sanya" the twins said.

The next day in the the kitchen there were three metal wireframe bowls holding…

"Blueberries?" Perrine ask. "Why do we have so many?"

"My uncle ships them here all the way from our farm back home," Lynette replied as she brought in a fourth bowlful. "Blueberries are supposed to be really good for your eyesight."

"Let's eat!" Hartmann said as she started on her bowlful of blueberries.

"Yes, it's true," Barkhorn added. "In Britannia all the night pilots eat blueberries. It's likely they discovered their benefits as well."

Yoshiki grabbed a small bowl that was nearby, filled it up with blueberries, and sat at the table. He picked up one blueberry and hesitantly popped it into his mouth. At first, the tartness made him scrunch up his face in distaste. But as he chewed, the sweet and refreshing flavor began to spread across his taste buds, surprising him with its deliciousness. Just then, Lynette walked over to him, her curiosity piqued.

"How does the blueberry taste, Yoshimi?" she inquired, a playful smile tugging at the corners of her lips. The male twin glanced up at her, his expression shifting from skepticism to delight. "Honestly, I didn't think I would like it at first," he admitted. "But as I kept eating, the flavor grew on me. It's actually really good!" Lynette's face lit up with joy at his response as the male twin continued eating the blueberries.

Nearby Lucchini stood up, "Yoshika, Shirley!" she said "Stick out your tongues!" she added as the female twin, Shirley and Lucchini stick out their tongues before bursting out laughing.

"Typical!" Perrine commented on that as she wiped her mouth as Eila came up behind her, "Perrine!" she said as she pull the corners of Perrine's mouth back to reveal the ace's teeth.

"Everything in moderation!" Mio said as she walked away.

"How could you do such a thing to me!" Perrine yelled as she and Eila walked behind Sanya as she eat.

"I didn't do anything." Eila said.

"Delicious." Sanya said.

After breakfast Mio had the twins, Eila, and Sanya stay.

"You finished your breakfast that's good!" Mio said. "It's time for you four to go to sleep dismiss!"

There was a sign on a door in the base that read Sanya's Room…and Temporary Office for Night Patrol.

"But we just woke up…" Yoshika and Yoshiki said as they tried comprehending why they were to be sleeping now. "And did they really have to come and cover the windows up too?"

"They probably want us to get used to the dark," Eila said as she was looking at something.

The twins, Eila, and Sanya were on the lone bed, Sanya curled up and holding a stuffed animal near her. Yoshika and Yoshiki was sitting on the edge of the bed while Eila was closer to the window, lying on her stomach.

"Sorry they turned your room into such a dark cave, Sanya," Yoshika and Yoshiki said to the Orussian girl.

"They didn't," Sanya replied as she looked at the twins. "This is how I like my room."

"Oh, really?" Yoshika and Yoshiki found a folded piece of paper and picked it up. "Hey, this is some type of talisman."

"Talisman?" Eila asked as she sat up.

"Some people think they're good luck charms that scare away ghosts." Yoshika and Yoshiki said.

"People sometimes mistake me for a ghost," Sanya said.

"Yeah? Because you're always flying around at night?" Yoshika and Yoshiki asked

Sanya disagreed. "Happens a lot during the day. They say they can't tell if I'm really there or not."

When Sanya said that the twins laughed.

"Don't listen to anything Miss Priss Four-Eyes says," Eila added. "If you're bored, I've got Tarot Cards."

"Tarot Cards?" the twins asked.

"It's fortune-telling. I can use my magic to see into the future."

"I can't see very far though…" Eila added as Yoshika and Yoshiki picked one of seven cards lying on the bed. "Now, let's see…" She leaned in toward Yoshika and Yoshiki to see their card. "Well. This is good! You're going to see someone you've been longing to see."

"Is that true?" the twins asked but they knew the person they been longing to see. "It's not that's not possible."

"Why not?" Eila asked the twins.

"Because that person isn't coming back!" Yoshika and Yoshiki said.

"I see." Eila said as she growled and laid back on the bed, "I don't know what to tell you two then."

The twins looked at Sanya who is looking at a calendar when the twins looked at the calendar the date of August 18th is circled with the words of Sanyan syntymäpäivä written under it.

Hours later the sun was setting.

"Time to wake up!" Lucchini said as from the other side of the door that read Sanya's Room…and Temporary Office for Night Patrol. "It's night!"

As the twins started to wake up

"It's dark in here," Yoshika and Yoshiki pointed out as they took a seat next to Lynette at the table.

Lynette nodded in the affirmative. "They said it's to help adjust your eyes during nighttime missions."

"What's this?" Yoshika and Yoshiki indicated two teacups filled with tea.

"It's a special marigold herbal tea," Perrine said as the answer. "I heard that it can help your eyesight just as much as blueberries."

"Oh, really?" Lynette asked. "I heard that it was an old wives' tale…"

"What?! I never met a insolent brat in all my life! This sinking recipe was my grandmother's!" Perrine said as she growled.

"Oh I'm sorry!" Lynette apologized.

A while later everyone was seated at the table, with Yoshika and Yoshiki noting, "This smells like sancho…"

"Sancho?" Lynette asked as all three stared into their cups.

"Lynne, Yoshimi, and Yoshika," Lucchini asked as she popped up on Yoshika's right. "Stick out your tongues."

When they all did that, Lucchini's eye twitched. "This is so stupid! Our tongues just look like normal tongues...!" she yelled.

"She's got a point," Eila said as she sipped her tea as Lucchini yelled.

Perrine, who was annoyed at Lucchini's actions, turned to glare at Eila.

"This isn't a contest I was trying to be helpful!" Perrine said as Sanya drank her tea as Yoshika apologized that she was just trying to be helpful.

Apparently, Sanya didn't like it, as indicated by her sticking out her tongue a little.

"Our hands won't stop shaking," Yoshika and Yoshiki said as the Night Patrol all stood on the runway, all of them ready for their night patrol.

"Why?" Eila asked.

"We didn't think the sky would look this black at night."

"Is this your first nighttime mission?" Eila asked.

"Do you wanna scrub it?" Sanya asked next.

"Will you both hold our hands?" Yoshika and Yoshiki asked as they held up a shaking hand to look at it. "I'm sure I can do it if you hold my hand, Sanya…" Yoshika said as she and her bother hold their hands.

Sanya's little magical radio aura turned pink as she grabbed Yoshika's other hand. Eila jumped to the other side, grabbed Yoshiki's other hand, and said, "Okay, let's get going."

Unfortunately, the twins wasn't ready, and they spent most of the time down the runway screaming in fear as they started up their Units.

As the night patrol flew higher the twins are scared, "Please do let go of our hand, promise you hang on to us!" Yoshika and Yoshiki said.

"Wait just another minute, we're almost above the clouds." Sanya calmly said to them as her Black cat tail moves giving the twins a suprised look.

Another minute later, and the Night Patrol were above the dark clouds.

"It's beautiful," Yoshika and Yoshiki said as they flew on their own. "We never would have made it up here on our own! Sanya, Eila. Thank you!"

Eila smiled slightly as she looked back.

"It's our job," Sanya simply said.

The next morning, Perrine were staring at the inside of a small cup of something in front of her.

"What's this?" Perrine asked as she stared at it.

Yoshika and Yoshiki, who was just walking past with a big bottle stopped, "Liver oil from a lamprey." the twins explained. "It's good for eyesight and temperament."

"It smells kinda fishy," Hartmann said as she examined her cupful.

"It's fish oil," Barkhorn told her. "The nutritious benefits should more than outweigh the difficult flavor."

Perrine laughed. "Are we back in kindergarten, Yoshika and Yoshimi?" she asked. "What an absurd choice."

"Is that so?" Mio, who was behind the twins, asked Perrine. "I'm the one who brought it."

"I love fish oil!" Perrine, probably not wanting to get on Mio's bad side, said as she grabbed the cup and drank it in one sitting.

Unfortunately, she didn't like it, and Lucchini agreed a few seconds later.

"Ew!" she said as she held the cup away from her. "What's this?"

"Tastes pretty similar to engine lubricant," Shirley added as she tasted it.

Eila and Sanya didn't like it either; in fact, Eila was busy trying to get the taste out of her mouth by spitting.

"I was forced to drink this as a cadet," Mio informed them, "and I couldn't stand it either."

"I couldn't agree with you more…" Perrine said as she stayed there, trying to not fall to the floor.

"Another round?" Minna asked, the only one who actually liked it, as she waved her empty cup. Hartmann looking at her commander as if she was crazy for wanting more.

Yoshika and Yoshiki sighed as the Night Patrol found themselves back in the room designated Sanya's Room...and Temporary Office for Night Patrol.

"Um…Eila and Sanya, where are the two of you from before all this?" the little Fuso Witches asked.

"I'm from Suomos," Eila told them.

"Orussia," Sanya added.

"Oh," Yoshika and Yoshiki replied. "Where are those again?"

Eila lifted her head to look at Yoshika and Yoshiki. "Suomos is in the northern part of Europe. Orussia is in the east."

"Alright," Yoshika and Yoshiki replied. "Wasn't most of Europe destroyed by the Neuroi during the first round of attacks?"

"Yes," Sanya told the twins. "The city I lived in fell a long time ago."

"What happened to your family?"

"When the Neuroi came, they fled the city and took shelter further east. Over the Ural Mountains."

"Thank goodness for that…"

"What's so good about that?" Eila asked her as they sat up. "Don't you two hear what she's telling the both you?"

"Well, they may be far apart right now, but at least they can get back together someday."

"Orussia is a huge place. Past the Ural, it's dozens of times the size of Fuso." Eila laid back down. "It's not so easy to find people once you lost them. Besides, there's a Neuroi Hive between here and there."

"We see what you mean, but I'm still a little jealous…"

Eila sat up quickly. "You're kinda stubborn, aren't you?"

"You don't understand. What we mean is: you wanna see your family again, right, Sanya?"

"Yes," Sanya replied.

"Well, we bet they wake up every morning, just like you, thinking and wondering about the day you'll be reunited as a family."

"Yes."

"If neither of you ever gives up, then someday you'll have to be together again. It must be so wonderful to think that way."

"Ugh we feel so yucky!" Yoshika and Yoshiki said as the Night Patrol walked out the room.

"Why don't we go to the sauna?" Eila suggested.

"Sauna?" Yoshika and Yoshiki asked.

"Come on, you've never been to a sauna before?"

In the sauna's changing room, Yoshika, Sanya, and Elia began to undress, their movements hesitant and nervous. Yoshiki's heart raced with fear as he worried about his true identity and gender being exposed to Sanya and Elia. As Sanya glanced over at him, a puzzled expression on her face, she questioned, "Why haven't you taken your clothes off, Yoshimi?"

Yoshiki's mind raced, searching for a believable excuse, but before he could respond, Elia jumped in, her voice calm yet firm. "Sanya, I think it's time for us to know the truth. Yoshimi is not who you think she is. In reality, she is Yoshika's brother."

The tension in the room thickened as Sanya turned her gaze towards Yoshiki, her eyes filled with curiosity. "Is this true, Yoshimi?" she inquired, her voice soft yet probing. Elia nodded, turning to face Yoshiki directly. With a knowing look in her eyes, "Tell us, Yoshiki?" she asked, sending a shiver down Yoshiki's spine.

Caught off guard by Elia's revelation, Yoshiki and Yoshika asked Elia how she knew Yoshiki was a boy. "How did you know, Elia?" Yoshiki's voice quivered with a mix of apprehension and disbelief "Yeah, how did you know Yoshiki wasn't a girl and my brother?" Yoshika asked.

"I had foreseen this moment in my Tarot Cards before the Squadron Leader and you two arrived. An omen of a male Witch joining our ranks," Elia explained calmly. "And when I noticed the telltale sign in your swimsuit, I've decided to play along, pretending to believed you to be a girl."

She turned to Yoshiki once more, her gaze unwavering. "Tell us, Yoshiki. Are you truly a boy?" With a mixture of apprehension and relief washing over him, Yoshiki finally confessed, "Yes, Sanya and Elia, I'm a boy. Only Lynne, Sakamoto, and Yoshika had been privy to my secret until now. Could you not tell the others my secret?"

Sanya and Elia, true to their word, pledged to keep his true name and gender confidential. As the weight of the revelation lifted, Yoshiki shed his clothes, the four wrapping themselves in towels.

"Um, Eila?" Yoshika and Yoshiki asked as they lied on the top of a bench in the sauna. "This is getting really boring…"

Eila and Sanya were sitting on the bench's seat they each had the white towel covering parts of their bodies.

"In Suomos," Eila started to explain, "we want saunas more than baths."

"Sanya, your skin is so white…" Yoshika and Yoshiki said as they looked at Sanya.

"Hey! What are you looking at?" Eila asked as she stick her head in the twins' vision. She was sounding like she was trying to protect Sanya.

"Nothing! She just has really pretty skin." Yoshika and Yoshiki looked a little past Eila in order to study Sanya some more.

Eila was now getting really upset. "Stop looking at Sanya like that!"

Yoshika, Yoshiki, Sanya, and Elia goes to the lake for a bath with Elia guiding the twins though the water and the three are naked.

"It's right over here!" Elia said.

"You sure this is okay?" the twins asked her.

"Bathing after a sauna is a must." Elia said.

"Water's nice and cold but..." the twins said as Elia turned to them.

"Calm down it's just us girls.." Elia was about to say till Yoshiki coughed, "Oh right just us girls and one boy who disguise himself as a girl out here."

"It's not that it's.." the twins said till the three of them heard singing.

They walked and hide behind a rock as the three looked over the rock and saw Sanya also naked sitting on a larger rock with one of her feet in the water singing the same song that was one of her spells that she uses it to guide the transport.

"When I hear her. Her song. It makes my heart ache." Elia said as the twins nodded.

"Yeah." Yoshika and Yoshiki said.

Sanya stopped singing and looked at the twins and Elia who both blush upon seeing her.

"We're sorry" the twins said.

"What are you apologizing for?" Sanya asked as she stood up.

"Well we didn't mean to interrupt you." the twins said as they scratched the back of their heads, "That song it's so beautiful."

Sanya turned and spoke, "My father he wrote that song for me a long time ago when I was a little girl."

"You're father?" Yoshika and Yoshiki asked.

"When I was little, it wouldn't stop raining. I was counting the raindrops out of boredom and my father turned that into a song for me." Sanya explained.

"Sanya studied music in Vienna at her father's recommendation." Eila explained as the four of them swam.

"Sounds like a wonderful man." the twins said.

"Your farther is a wonderful man too, Miyafujis." Sanya said.

"Huh? Why's that?" the twins asked as the four of them lay on a rock on the bank of the lake.

"That's easy because Dr. Miyafuji was the one who invented the Striker Unit that you wear. That's a special connection between you two." Eila said.

"Heehee. that's true but's it's not really a typical present a father gets for his kids." Yoshika and Yoshiki said.

Eila sat up "Don't be so picky. Those units are expensive." she said as the four of them laugh.

Yoshika and Yoshiki flew over Sanya as they were in their patrol and said, "Hey, guess what? You'll never guess, but today's our birthday!"

"Why didn't you two tell us it was?" Eila asked her.

"We usually ignore it because that was the day our father died," the twins said, sounding slightly sad.

"It's a long story, and we didn't want to explain it to everyone," Yoshika added.

Eila flew next to and above Yoshika. "Well, that's just plain stupid. If it's your birthday, then we're obligated to have some fun, right?"

"Are you sure about that?"

"Of course!"

Sanya flew between Yoshika and Eila.

"Miyafujis," she said. "I want you to listen closely."

"Um," Yoshika and Yoshiki said carefully. "Okay."

Soon, the radios started buzzing with radio signals. Talk shows, music, anything on the radio.

"Hey!" the twins said in surprise. "We can hear something!"

"It's the radio," Eila explained.

"At night," Sanya added, "the sky's quiet, so I can pick up radio waves from distant places over the horizon."

"That's amazing!" Yoshika and Yoshiki said quickly in cheerfulness. "We had no idea you can do that!"

"Yes, it keeps me company when I'm flying at night."

Eila flew close to Sanya and said, "I thought this was our little secret,"

"I'm sorry," Sanya told her, "but tonight is a special occasion."

"It's your magic. Do whatever you want." Eila flew downward as Yoshika and Yoshiki flew closer to Sanya.

"What's wrong?" the twins asked.

"You'll see," Sanya told them.

Eila flew between Sanya and Yoshika. "Tonight just also happens to be…"

Suddenly, Sanya's antennae started flashing different colors, and she noticed the problem.

"What?" Eila asked quickly as she noticed Sanya's surprise. "What is it?"

"It's a song," Yoshika and Yoshiki said, listening to the noise around them.

"But how could…?" Sanya tried asking.

501st base

Back at the base Mio and Minna were standing in the control room also hearing the noise.

"Is this the Neuroi's voice?" the commander asked.

"It's mimicking Sanya's frequency." Mio said as she tuned to Minna, "Where is she?"

"According to the schedule she's in a night training mission with Sergeant Miyafujis." Minna said.

"Call them back now!" Mio exclaimed.

"We can't the song is blocking signal." Minna explained.

"Dam it! They're after Sanya!" Mio exclaimed.

A few miles away

Back with the night patrol who all stopped.

"It sounds like…" Sanya said.

"Is it the Neuroi, Sanya?" Eila asked.

Yoshika and Yoshiki started panicking. "The Neuroi? Where?"

"You need to leave right now!" Sanya said before taking off higher into the air.

The Neuroi fired a shot that, while it missed Sanya, managed to obliterate the Striker Unit on her left leg.

"Sanya!" Eila shouted as she and the twins powered their Striker Units harder in order to catch up.

"You idiot," Eila said to her friend. "Why fight him alone?"

"The enemy is after me," Sanya told her. "I can feel it." She tightened her grip on Eila's shirt. "You have to get away from me. If you're here…"

"Come on, what are you talking about?"

"We can never do that!" Yoshika and Yoshiki added.

Sanya looked at them. "Please go…"Eila grabbed Sanya's weapon and set it in her right hand, her left hand holding her own weapon.

"You can't see it!" Yoshika and Yoshiki told her.

"Sanya is going to tell us where that Neuroi is hiding," Eila told the twins as she looked back. "After that, I'll be able to predict the enemy's movement short-term with my magic, so I'll be fine. You are not the same as that thing, Sanya. It might be alone, but you've got us! Together, we can't be defeated."

The female twin, who was now having the Orussian girl on her back to keep her aloft, smiled with the male twin at Sanya, who looked concerned as she gave off the position and the distance. Soon, according to her, the Neuroi closed in, and Eila fired off a barrage of rockets. At the same time, the Neuroi fired, and luckily it missed them as it passed by underneath.

As it passed by under them, Eila asked if she missed.

"No," Sanya told her. "It's decelerating. It's sustained heavy damage."

Then sudden streak of red in the clouds.

"It's coming back!"

"Oh no you don't!" Eila shouted as she fired off a second barrage.

The Neuroi dodged each shot quickly.

"It dodged it!" Yoshika cried out as she supported Sanya.

"Yeah now I think it's copying Eila." Yoshiki tried.

"Dammit, show yourself!" Eila demanded as she fired off a final shot that nailed the Neuroi and it screamed.

"It's there!" Eila said before it decided to charge at her.

As Eila fired her gun at the incoming Neuroi, Sanya said, "Eila, stop. Get out of here!"

"There's no time!"

The Neuroi's armor started to chip away as Eila saw a barrier form in front of her.

"Good thinking, Miyafujis!" Eila said as she noticed that she were floating in front of them.

"We've got this!" Yoshika and Yoshiki announced. "We're not gonna lose to that thing!"

"Cause we're a team!"

Sanya, who looked like she couldn't believe it grabbed Yoshika's gun and readied it.

Soon, Sanya fired at the Neuroi, adding to Eila's barrage of bullets

Between the bullets the two were all firing into it, the Neuroi had no chance of winning, its core being destroyed as soon as it was exposed.

Luckily, the twins' barrier held up or else they would have been killed by the sudden burst of particles zooming past them.

After a while of silence, everyone was floating there. Then a song played on our radios.

"I can still hear it," Eila said.

"Why?" Yoshika and Yoshiki asked. "Didn't we destroy it?"

"No! That's my father's piano," Sanya replied.

Sanya's lone half of the Unit activated, and she flew up toward the moon.

"We see," Yoshika and Yoshiki realized. "The radio. It's reaching to us from down there. Wherever he is, it's a miracle."

"To be expected really," Eila noted.

"Huh?"

"After all, it is Sanya's birthday too. Technically yesterday, but you know…"

"It's the same day as ours?"

"What better way for a father to celebrate his daughter's birthday then to play the song he wrote to her? That kind of love will last for moments like this. For those who are open to feel it. It's no miracle."

"Eila, you're so nice."

"No, I am not. Idiots."

"Idiots?"

While in the light of the moon Sanya flies, "Oh mother, oh father. You're daughter is listening. I'm right here."

"Happy birthday right Sanya?" Yoshika and Yoshiki asked.

"You too." Sanya said making the twins a worried look but, "I hope you two have a happy birthday Miyafujis."

"Happy birthday." Eila said as the twins turned to her.

"Thank you both!" Yoshika and Yoshiki said.

The next day Mio and Minna stood in front of Ichiro's grave filled with offerings.

"The Neuroi had it's sights on Sanya this time. It even adapted to her actions mimicking them." Mio said.

"It's quite obvious that we going to start rethinking the way we approach combat with the Neuroi." Minna said.
