Ch. 1
"My oh my, just look how time flies" Jin chuckled as he was performing a routine security check on another routine day.
The planet he was currently stationed on was called Idunn. One of many newly birthed worlds thanks to the cooperation of the three super powers of the Koprulu sector.
Due to Amon's interference with the infinite cycle, it created a precarious issue. Life only existed thanks to the Xel'naga. After the heat end of the current universe they would start anew beginning the cycle of life and death all over again. However Kerrigan and supposedly Jim were the only Xel'naga left in existence. Thus it created a real problem that once all the stars died out in this universe it really would mean the end as they may not have the necessary capabilities to restart the cycle.
Realizing how dire the situation was, something needed to be done so that life can continue on. Although they were limited on options, what they could do was add more ticks to the clock.
After lengthy planning and negotiation, a deal was struck. Although it wasn't certain what the Protoss or the Zerg called it, the Terrans dubbed it operation clockwork. A task that would run indefinitely with a large workforce as well as a hefty spending budget.
Sharing technology, knowledge, and resources, new solar systems were brought into existence. It would take a while to fully explain everything. But to simplify, locations were scouted that had sufficient materials within a radius of four light years. Main sequence stars were then created once enough mass was gathered and fusion was initiated. Moving asteroids into place and allowing gravity to take over, they would eventually become planets or moons while allowing a certain variable of randomness to occur.
Upon using a time dilation device allowing a few eons to pass, worlds within a good distance of it's main sequence star were then terraformed and seeded also allowing a factor of randomness so that life can develop as it wishes on those worlds.
For a while the project was going well. But unlike the Protoss and Zerg, Terran society still ran on an economy that required tangible benefits.
Thus part of the negotiations were allowing the three races to claim solar systems that were of interest to them permitting expansion while removing the need for aggressive competition.
One of those worlds was Idunn.
But unlike the rest of the Dominion, Idunn was unique as it would be the first world to be developed mostly by the natives of Falmart.
As for why he was there, the planetary governor of Idunn, Bozes Co Palesti, won the bid as project corridor would be hosted on this world. With something that big being there, it attracted a lot of attention of migrants in search of business opportunities and work which sped up the development of the world.
Although not quite as developed as several core worlds in the Dominion, it still had plenty going for it. After ten years since he was stationed there, it had developed wonderfully.
After doing his usual morning routine, Jin started his patrol.
~ Idunn ~
The planet had a few different land masses. But only the continent they were on had been developed so far.
It was home to several humanoid races totaling a population over a million.
Although several of them had a variety of traditions and cultures specific to them. A few of them had modern Dominion improvements.
Just looking around the city, it was a melting pot of such influences in terms of food, entertainment, philosophy, and general progress.
As Jin continued his walk, he was stopped by two guards as they saluted him. One big burly looking man and a male elf who would be roughly around 150 years old. "Sir! There is no need to trouble yourself in needing to patrol here considering your busy schedule".
"No trouble at all" Jin saluted back. "Just enjoying a walk".
These guards were part of the Gardenia Order of Knights. Essentially they were police. Planetary governors had quite a degree of freedom to develop and name things in accordance to their wishes so long as it followed the rules and guidelines issued by the Dominion. Panache was selected to migrate to Idunn and develop this new order to support Bozes to uphold law and order. In his opinion, she was doing a fine job so far.
Seeing a crowd up head, "so what's going on here?"
"A concert is being held later today. The main performer is just warming up the crowd" said Seith the elf.
Getting closer to see, Jin immediately recognized who it was. "The apostle of Lunaryur".
Physically, she looked like a young lady. However it was hardly the case considering what she was. If the Dominion initially had it's way, she would have been destroyed a long time ago. Simply put, she wasn't human or any type of organic life for that matter. In truth she started off as a blob of nanites as scientists were experimenting with artificial intelligence. Needless to say, Lunaryur for whatever reason blessed this construct making it his apostle. It was quite the scandal at the time as Lunaryur would have been sealed into a key stone and the subject was to be immediately terminated in order to contain a rogue A.I. as it was learning and evolving at an alarming rate.
But after a much heated debate and a few concessions needing to be made, Lunaryur was only sentenced to be sealed for a few years while the construct had to agree to limiting it's functions which would be hard lined into the programming of it's nanite based body. Mainly that it would be locked into it's one body without replicating or manipulating it's physical structure. After sampling many different body types, this was the form it settled on. Instead of being addressed by it's serial number, it eventually chose to call itself Freya.
Part of the concessions was that Freya would have a constant monitor on her to insure no trouble would arise in relation to her as scientist would continue to observe her progress. But if anything she didn't mind. Being the apostle of Lunaryur, she enjoyed always having an audience to perform for when she sang and danced. Having toured around Falmart, this would be her first off world performance.
"So Freya will be performing here in Idunn huh. I expect it to be quite the show".
"Sure is" Dillon the human guard chuckled. "My kid has been bugging me to get tickets ever since the announcement was made".
"But they're blocking the road!" Seith hollered. "Can't you people practice common sense?! Folks trying to get through here!"
"Woah, calm down there" said Dillon trying to soothe his partner.
"Don't tell me to calm down! I'm old enough to be your grandpa!"
"Yeah, but in humans years you're basically a teenager".
"Why you little . . . . !" as they started to wrestle each other.
Jin has seen this scene many times as he couldn't help but laugh. He's honestly lost track of how many times they've 'fought'. But it looked like Seith lost this time as Dillon had him in a full nelson while smacking his sides trying to get him to say uncle. "I'll leave you guys to it".
~ Idunn ~
Like all Dominion worlds, a standing military was needed. Either to support the local peace keeping force or to defend the planet in the event of an extraterrestrial attack.
Although they had no official capital ships stationed here, they had plenty of defensive structures and equipment.
They had a few squadrons of viking, wraith, and dropship pilots.
An impressive number in ground army with siege tanks, diamond backs, and vultures just to name a few.
But something of note was the prototype weapons being tested. When it came to the many races that were incorporated into the Dominion, dwarfs easily took to Terran science and technology as they wanted to build and improve on everything they learned. One of those was the titan.
The titan started it's life off from a warhound which in turn started it's service life as a weaponized SCV. Throughout the warhound's service history, it was hardily impressive in comparison to the fire power, durability and mobility of other armored units. But under the dwarfs, they were hoping they would be able to change that making it something magnificent. But like the name it was based on, it was still in it's testing stages. Hopefully in the near future it would earn the name of Ares. One of many gods of war in Dominion history.
Passing through the training grounds, he bumped into a lot of friendly faces who were with him during his academy days.
"Jin? Hey! It's Jin!" Ava yelled out getting everyone's attention.
"Jin" stoically waved Rhea the amazonian.
"Got time to spar with me? You still owe me a rematch" said Takeshi the oni.
"Geez! Is that all your muscle brain ever thinks about?!" Takeshi's twin sister Fumi fumed.
There was a bit to go over here. But of the many races that were forced to make Falmart their new home, one of them them were the amazons. Honestly they weren't much different to regular humans. However they were bigger and stronger to their human female counterpart. Additionally they only had female progeny. Their culture valued strength. Especially those in men they chose to have children with. Hence when Ogres were genetically uplifted, they were most welcomed by the amazons which proved to be mutually beneficial.
For the amazons, they got strong men to breed with. For the ogres, a starting point to develop a culture of their own. Under the influence of the Dominion over the decades, they became one group becoming an interesting mix between Greek and Asian.
But for the oni, this is what science would like to lovingly call a happy accident. The genetic suppressant markers still worked as it should. Thus it was a fifty-fifty percent chance a child born between a female amazon and a male ogre will usually wind up as one of the two. However there was an unexpected synergy between the two resulting in the birth of the subspecies the oni. Though they weren't as big and strong as their parent species, what they lacked in physical ability they more then made up with in powerful psi ability. With current statistics, usually one in ten were born oni.
This quirk was not just limited to them. Another notable example were the bunny warriors. The current coined term is adaptive inheritance mutation or A.I.M. for short. Apparently children born from bunny warriors were able to adapt useful traits with a high success rate from whoever the father was. In one observed example, a bunny warrior had a child with a merman. The resulting child was a bunny warrior with incredible swimming ability having enhanced lung capacity, more efficient blood flow, a stronger body that can withstand water pressure, and smoother skin and hair allowing for less drag in water.
Ava was also an example of this as she inherited psi ability from her Terran father.
Seeing these examples, it has become a long case study wanting to map out every possible genetic combination as such research can prove to be very useful in the future.
As Jin was chatting with his friends, a young female elf with grayish silver hair grabbed him in a hug as she buried her face in his chest. Looking up teary eyed, "big brother! Help me! I don't want to run anymore!"
Jin could only sigh. "Ash, you do realize you brought this on yourself".
Ashwyn or Ash for short was his little sister. More precisely his little half sister. He didn't know the specifics nor did he care to poke the bear on this one. But his dad also had a kid with auntie Tuka. From what he could tell his mom seemed fine with it. But whatever the case was, he didn't care to ask any further questions about it and left it be.
But concerning his little sister, she was a genius with a rifle. Scored high marks in the shooting range and currently the record holder with the longest shot in Dominion history. However his little sister was also a foodie. Upon graduating from the academy, she skipped from place to place and planet to planet wanting to try all the kinds of food in the galaxy. As a result she became complacent growing slow, rusty, and kind of pudgy.
Of course such a life style would be rather expensive. However over the last few decades, auntie Tuka had become quite rich. Since the life extension treatment was based on her genes, she gained royalties from it. Since mostly everyone in the Dominion used it, Tuka easily became one the wealthiest people in the galaxy. Not that she cared that much. But tracing her daughter's spending, Tuka had dragged her back by the ear to Idunn to get her back in shape.
Speaking of which, "get back to running now or you will be running another mile!" Tyuule exclaimed.
"Ekk! I'm sorry!" as Ash started to run again.
The former warrior queen who was part of the Heaven's Devils decided to take a break from mercenary work as she was currently a drill instructor for new cadets. Why she was especially hard on his little sister was because she was her star student having trained her herself during her academy days. But seeing her lessened state irritated her to the extreme as he once saw her chasing Ash around with a blade in hand. At the moment, she was trying to give her some motivation with the goal of winning the martial arts competition being hosted on Falmart so that her Spartan like training would come to an end.
"Just remember to breath!" Jin encouraged.
'You big meanie!"

Entering the research facility, you can find lots of scientist and engineers walking around constantly on the move.
Aside from humans and demi-humans, there were some Protoss and Zerg present.
Although this was a Terran world, the other two races were welcomed as a show of peace and harmony between the three races. But obviously they weren't here for leisure reasons.
The Zerg were there for data collection as they were the primary source in seeding life on planets. Interestingly, they had a working relationship with Wareharun as they created a variety of flora and fauna when they seeded worlds. But on Idunn, they were observing their latest creation in the form of biotech trees. They were basically living tree houses that had a symbiotic relationship with those that lived in them. One of the few steps the Zerg had taken to become a more peaceful race.
As for the Protoss, they were there to make sure they didn't blow a hole in reality. Since project corridor was the Terran's first attempt to make a functioning warp gate it definitely required some baby sitting since this was very new technology to them. Although the Protoss would not interfere in their progress, they would step in if they make any dangerous moves. Karax was the phasesmith dispatched to oversee their work as he was accompanied by other smiths and templar to protect them.
Passing through a corridor, Jin saw through an open door a brunette woman stressed beyond comprehension as her lab was a wreck with several boards being scribbled on.
"You know Arpeggio, you going to get more gray hairs at this rate" Jin commented sardonically.
"Shut it you little twerp! I can still make this work!"
The young dark elf could only shrug his shoulders at that retort.
Arpeggio was still the same as ever as she was in constant competition with her little step sister Lelei. For the young mage had made a name for herself in project phantasm bringing forth interesting ideas and innovations in the advancement of human evolution.
Not wanting to fall behind, she dived head first into the research she had dedicated most of her life too which was minerals. Thus the focus of her studying was khaydarin crystals. Dominion research in the field was still rather sparse as they only knew very basic things about it. But trying to make a name for herself, Arpeggio set a high goal for herself by attempting to replicate them. A project she practically had next to no funding for as it was considered a complete brick wall since their understanding in the field wouldn't see any returns any time soon.
But not wanting to give up and seeing this as her golden opportunity to surpass her sister, Arpeggio socialized, flirted, and begged whoever would listen to give her some research money.
After a few years and hitting dead ends, she was about to reach a breaking point. Thus one day needing to find some comfort, she ended up smoking some terrazine. In that moment, she inadvertently bore unexpected fruit.
Although it wasn't a khaydarin crystal, she ended up making something new.
Jin didn't know the technical data concerning it. But when processed, it made mental control over machines possible. Thus it would allow ships, mechs, and power armors to prioritize thought before motion without any kind of cybernetic implant. If paired with an A.I. interface with a mind strong enough to handle it, it's even possible for one person to fly an entire battlecrusier by themselves. Currently they are being used in the titans showcasing a very impressive performance.
With a discovery like this, Arpeggio's name would have been all but guaranteed in the Dominion. But then came the problem. Having taken too much terrazine, she created this substance in a fit of madness resulting in corrupted research data and no idea how to replicate more. Thus she was on a crunch schedule to reproduce her results or else the project would be taken from her along with the glory behind it.
Shrugging his shoulders, Jin moved along to which he soon received a call. Picking up, a holographic window appeared as the young elf couldn't help but sigh, "hi mom".
Dressed in a high ranking uniform, Yao was in the command chair of the battlecruiser Njord. Ever since he got stationed on Idunn, his mom wanting to maintain contact finally accepted the promotion along with the responsibility that came with it.
Frankly Jin wasn't sure if his mom was really a doting parent or if it was an elf thing since in elf years he was still considered a child.
But nonetheless, his mom was ferrying supplies over. Since project corridor was being tested here, no gate was set up to avoid any kind of unknown variables. Thus logistics for this world was done the old fashion way.
After a long talk or rather a gushing rant of how much his mom missed him, he moved on to where he needed to go.
Within the main part of the research facility, today was the day that they would attempt to open a Terran built gate.
Protoss were present overlooking the progress as Terrans were all over the place double checking their math, looking over programs, or running maintenance on their hardware.
"Everything looks fine" as Karax looked over the math.
"But you're not going to tell me if it's wrong or not are you" asked the scientist only to receive silence. "Yeah yeah I get it. But I do have to ask, have you seen anything unusual with the programming?"
"Now that you mention it . . . ." as Karax opened up a window, "our instruments have been picking up unusual interference".
"Is it something on our end?"
"That's the unusual part. We've been looking over your work as there hasn't been any significant fault that we found. Everything should be within expected parameters. Yet we can't seem to isolate what this interference is".
After listening for a bit, Jin then decided to step in. "Is there a problem? Should the start up test be postponed till you can isolate the issue?"
"There shouldn't be a delay" as the scientist waved it off. "We should proceed as scheduled".
"You're opening a hole in space time" Jin stressed. "This is something you don't want to make mistakes with". Then looking to Karax, "second opinion?"
Taking another glance at his finding, the Protoss phasesmith shook his head. "I believe there shouldn't be an issue. By all accounts, it should work".
"And there you have it" as the scientist clapped his hands.
Making one more look over making sure everything was in order, an announcers voice was projected over the room. "All personnel please leave the gate room. I repeat, all personnel please leave the gate room. Start up test will begin in one minute".
Upon that call engineers and researchers quickly exited the area as blast doors closed behind them while energy shields came online to contain the gate in the event of an accident. Fail safes were also engaged to immediately cut power.
As the countdown reached zero, everyone watched with bated breaths to see if all this time and effort would have amounted to anything. As the program activated, coordinates were inputted into the gate as the artificial wormhole would connect to a gate on another Terran world.
Finally in the moment of truth, a spiral of energy took shape before settling into the gate.
"Confirmed! We have connection!" With that announcement, the entire room erupted into cheers and celebrations with lots of hugging and handshaking being done.
But in that moment, the gate then flicked which got the attention of the room. Seeing this anomaly, everyone went back to their stations as it was something that wasn't suppose to happen.
Karax looked at his readings as his eyes steadily grew wider. It was the interference again but a lot stronger this time. He didn't know what it was, but now he was sure it couldn't have been good. "Cut power to the gate now!"
Responding immediately to that command, the technician punched the ignition blowing out the fuse. But although the power was cut, the gate was still on.
From here is when things started to fall apart.
A blinding light pulsed from the gate as within seconds it had spread throughout the continent. Citizens were alarmed at the unknown event as panic and screams could be heard.
Yet the worse part was about to start. Trapped in this unknown energy field, every man, woman, and child were experiencing pain beyond comprehension as their bodies were flickering in and out within their reality. Their very atomic structure was being ripped apart and sewn back together at the same time. Everywhere was in full meltdown as cars were crashing and whatever air ship that were in flight were falling down. Everyone was incapacitated as only very few people could barely move.
~ Idunn ~ (high orbit)
"What the hell is going on down there?!" Yao demanded standing from her command chair as just looking out the window, the unknown energy field was now visible from space.
"Unknown ma'am!" a technician called out. "It's unlike anything we've ever seen before".
"I'm trying to contact the surface. But . . . ." as all the communications officer was hearing were screams of pain across all channels.
"Hold on! Bringing up visuals now!" as the Njord focused it's cameras to the ground. Seeing what was happening, no one on the bridge could comprehend it as everyone was 'glitching'.
In that moment the image of her son flashed through her mind as Yao felt her heart sink. "Get our birds in the air now! Send rescue crafts immediately!"
"We can't ma'am! Whatever is happening on the surface will affect our pilots too!"
"We can't just wait around! We have to do something!"
"Ma'am! Look! Something is happening!"
Right before them the energy field gave off a bright flash of light as everyone on the bridge had to shield their eyes. But once it faded everyone soon stood up as they couldn't believe what they were seeing.
"It's gone . . . . It's all gone . . . ."
The continent had vanished as the entire planet was experiencing a massive climate shift as the ocean filled the missing void is one horrific crash as the surrounding continents were rattled causing fractures over fault lines leading to a domino effect reshaping several landscapes as super volcanoes formed and erupted as the entire planet was soon consumed in fire and ash.
Having witnessed this devastation, Yao fell to her knees as tears soon escaped her eyes. Millions of lives lost in an instant. But nothing hurt as much as this, "Jin . . . ."
~ Unknown ~
". . . . Ugh" as Jin was badly rattled. But leaning back onto his training, he soon stood up and needed to assess the situation. Everyone in the research facility were still recovering from whatever happened.
Leaning on the wall, he hobbled his way out.
Before his eyes, the city was a mess. Car crashes, air ships within buildings, several fires, power outages, and sirens blaring at every corner as emergency services were being overwhelmed at the crisis.
Reaching for his communication device, "Njord, this is ground station. Do you read me? Come in Njord . . . . I repeat this is ground station . . . . Is there anyone out there?!"
Looking to the sky, it was night time as Jin couldn't see any signs of any ships. Rescue should have already been sent the moment emergency protocols were enacted. But seeing the stars, the young dark elf started to rapidly look around. He had seen the night sky on Idunn for several years. But he didn't recognize any of the constellations.
Allowing this information to sink in, " . . . . Where are we?"
To be continued . . . .
Author's notes: This will be a pilot chapter to see if there is any interest in the story. Since the canon only reaches up to a certain point I will have to wing it in certain sections to fill in blanks concerning subjects that are not entirely known. Now onto some commentary.
First, special thanks to several folks who helped plan out the story being BahamutBlitz, shados960, MadClawDragon, and several reddit posters that gave their perspectives.
This first chapter was more or less used to establish the main cast. There are several more characters I still need to introduce or reintroduce from either canon or the prequel story this was based on. Generally I don't like writing my own original characters as it might become an issue if anyone would even like to read about them. More so, needing to kick my own butt to avoid making any character a gary stu or a mary sue since I personally dislike those character tropes unless they are purely played for laughs.
I'm also not particularly good when it comes to naming stuff. But when I do, I generally try to pick names to fit the theme of what's going on or what's about to happen to them.
For the beginning, assuming the peace holds out and understanding the situation as it is, it seems the most practical thing to do. Understanding the technology that each of them has available to them it should be possible for them to actually create new solar systems adding more ticks to the clock of the universe till a more permanent solution can be found.
Before anyone says it, I know the transport of Japan was not as violent in the canon story as well as the fact they were summoned by the 'gods' of Elysia. But I have my reasons it was set up this way. Furthermore needed to somewhat nerf them a bit so that don't entirely steam roll everybody when push comes to shove as they actually have to use strategy and diplomacy while they are there in Elysia. For the most part, their development will be based on similarly to the Wings of Liberty SC2 game as they need to carefully study and decide what they develop and focus on in terms of logistics, military, upgrades, and civil efforts since they are currently on their own at the moment.
The last part of the chapter is something I've been thinking about. When Mu was showing Japan Earth in how it looked like during their time, it indicated that when Mu got transported it caused a massive climate shift in the world creating the current modern world as they knew it as well as the disappearance of Atlantis. So if Japan were to suddenly disappear, I'd imagine something similar would have happened if such a landmass were to suddenly vanish. So taking that example, it resulted in a complete collapse of Idunn's biosphere as a result.
If there are any questions or concerns feel free to ask as I'll try to answer to them.
So thank you for reading as I further extend my gratitude if you can review a well.
