Hunter x Hunter – Decisions That Define You

Prisma smiled as she got off the airship. It had been a few months since she had seen the rest of her phantom troupe members. She and her friends had created a group, the Phantom Troupe, to create a better world and help the people of Meteor city. Growing up, they had worked together to survive gathering food and whatever else they needed.

She walked through the town to the area on her phone where the boss wanted to meet.

"Hey, Prisma!" a voice called.

Prisma turned and smiled as Shalnark appeared waving at her.

"Hey, number six." She said with a smirk

Shalnark rolled his eyes. "Seriously? Do you have to call me that? Maybe I should call you number four."

Prisma smirked. "I only do it because it annoys you."

The two started walking toward the exit of the airport.

"Do you know why the boss called us?" Prisma asked with a baffled look.

Shalnark smirked. "It's a new mission but that is all I can say. The others will be here soon and you get to meet three of the new members, Number 8, Shizuku, Number 10, Bonolenov, and Number 12, Kortopi."

Prisma smiled. "I can't believe he finally found people to fill those spots."

"It will be nice for the troupe to finally fill their numbers." Shalnark said. "Do you remember when we started the phantom troupe?"

A nostalgic smile appeared on the young woman's face. "Yes. We were just kids back then. We have done well with sending money back home. The priest says that it has helped buy clothes for the kids."

Shalnark wrapped an arm around Prisma's shoulders. "It was amazing. This mission we will be able to send millions home and keep some for ourselves."

The two disappeared in the woods walking to the meeting place. They walked out to see everyone else already there.

"About time you guys showed up? We've been waiting." Nobunaga said with a frown.

Prisma rolled her eyes. "We still have 10 minutes before the meeting time so technically we are early."

"Hey squirt. About time you got here." Uvogin said with a large smile. He reached out scooping the woman in his arms giving her arms a tight hug.

"Nice to see you again, Uvogin." Prisma said with a smirk.

The members walked around talking, Shalnark introduced Prisma to the three new members. They were…. interesting.

Chrollo stood and looked at the members around him. Most were the original troupe members while three were newly added.

"My troupe I have found a way for us to earn millions of dollars. There is a tribe called the Kurta Klan. When their emotions are high their eyes turn a blazing red. It is known as one of the most precious colors from those who collect body parts. One set of eyes cost 500 thousand jenny. Imagine the profit if we take every single set of eyes." He said watching the troupe stare at him in confusion. "We will capture a member of the Klan and force them to take us to the village. There we will slaughter all of them and collect the eyes. No one will be spared. Man, Woman or Child. We will get every eye in the village."

The phantom troupe exploded with everyone talking about the money they would earn.

Prisma sat there in shock. Her eyes moved from one group to the next as they discussed this new assignment.

"I can't wait to crush them with one hit." Uvogin said with a large smirk.

"One slash of my katana and the heads will roll." Nobunaga said while pulling his blade out.

"I bet I can control one of the members with my antenna." Shalnark said holding up his phone.

Feitan rolled his eyes. "They will not stand a chance against us."

"We may have to use the children as leverage against the parents. I can tie them up with my string." Machi said with a frown.

"Hopefully they will prove entertaining. Kids are so annoying. We need to kill them quickly so we don't have to listen to their cries." Phinks said adjusting his hat.

Prisma couldn't believe what she was hearing. She had to say something. "Is this some kind of sick joke?"

Everyone stopped talking to stare at the woman sitting on the rock watching all them with a frown.

Chrollo frowned looking at the woman. "What do you mean, Prisma?"

Prisma slowly shifted to where she was kneeling on the rock. "We have done a lot of things. Theft, murdering of adults, destruction of private and public property. Are we now going to add child killers to our list of crimes? You all are acting like it's perfectly ok to kill the Kurta children. When did our fight for bettering our home turn us to child killers?"

Chrollo slowly moved through the group. "This is no different than when we have murdered adults. You are a murderer yourself."

Prisma stood and jumped down from the rock. "There is a complete difference in murdering an adult and murdering a child, Chrollo. An adult has the capability to fight back with a chance of success. A child has no chance of fighting back or succeeding."

"It's boss. You call him that." Feitan hissed at Prisma.

Prisma scoffed and grabbed her bag on the ground. "If the rest of you want to do this than so be it but I will not have child killer on me. Contact me when the next meeting is. I won't accept or expect a share of this profit."

She turned and started to walk away from the group.

"It's my order that all troupe members participate in this mission." Chrollo said in a tight voice.

Prisma stopped and stared at the woods not turning around. "Is that how the phantom troupe is going to be now? We have to go against our own morals because you say so? When did the phantom troupe go from being a group of friends who wanted to make our world better to the point where morals don't matter as long as the money is right?"

She slowly turned to her friends with a look of pain and disgust on her face. She could see Chrollo had his book out watching her.

"Are you really going to attack me because I refuse to be a child killer, Chrollo?" She said as her face went blank.

"Prisma, please don't do this." Shalnark said with a fearful look. "It's not a big deal."

Prisma's eyes wandered from member to member of her so-called friends. She saw that they truly didn't get what she was saying.

She slowly lowered the backpack and knelt lifting her pants leg where the black spider with the number 4 was tattooed. With quick work, Prisma cut the spider off her leg and leaving a bloody mess. Reaching into her bag, she grabbed some gauze and wrapped the leg to stop the bleeding.

She stood and looked at Chrollo and the others who stared in shocked horror.

"You've all changed and not for the better. When did child killing become ok?" She spat looking at them.

She threw the skin with the tattoo at Chrollo where it landed with the spider staring up on them.

"If you do this, then you are no better than the people who come to our home and killed our children."

None of them said a word as she picked up her backpack to look at them.

"I won't go warn them about your coming. Even if I left now, the chance of me finding them before you are not possible. But know this, the minute you kill the kurta children is the minute you are dead to me. I will never become the monsters from our childhood who kill kids." She spat.

Before any of the phantom troupe members could say a word, Prisma jumped backward into a shadow using one of her nen abilities to travel through shadow to end up outside a hospital in a city far away. She walked in and was seen by a doctor for her injured leg.

In the woods, the other members of the phantom troupe stood there quietly in shock. The three new members shared looks not sure what to say.

Chrollo turned and looked at the others. "I intend to go on with the mission. I will not hunt HER down because of our past but SHE has chosen to betray the Phantom troupe and is dead to us. Who is with me?"

The original members stared at him with pain and anger in their eyes as they nodded their heads.

Two weeks later, Prisma was walking through with her guide. The man, Rhabia, was smiling as he walked through.

"I can't believe you were able to figure out the clues. You made those others look like fools." He said.

Prisma smirked. "Not my fault if they were too stupid to realize the truth. If they wanted to be hunters, they should have tried harder."

A woman rushed pass them to a news stand. "Is it true about the Kurta Klan?"

The man selling the newspapers nodded his head. "It's true. Even the children were killed even the babies. Just terrible."

Prisma walked over to the stand and picked up a paper. On the front showed pictures of row after row of cloth covered bodies. Some were small enough to realize that they were children.

Rhabia looked at the picture and frowned. "They are saying the phantom troupe did this. How terrible."

A tear ran down Prisma's face as she stared at the row of small corpses. "They truly are the devil's children."

10 Years Later

Prisma watched as several teenagers and young adults spared.

"Keep your head up, Zebana. Landon, keep your feet moving. Stopping is dying. Tomarno, quit acting like a brat and playing around. End this." She said walking around them.

"Hunter Prisma, we are ready to begin." A voice said.

Prisma looked over and spotted 8 young men and women waiting. All were dressed for journeys with some form of bag with them.

She walked over and motioned them to follow her. Leading them through the large building, she moved around children who ran around laughing and playing.

The group moved outside to the gate where an older woman was waiting with three large boxes.

The older woman smiled. "They were delivered as promised, Hunter Prisma."

Prisma smiled at the woman. "Thank you, Nebala. You can go."

The old woman smiled and walked away as Prisma turned to the adults behind her.

"6 years ago, I returned to Meteor City and built a safe haven for our children. Those who wish to live here are only able to go through my barrier if they truly mean no harm to the occupants here." Prisma said with a hard stare. "Now it's time for you to journey out and make room for children who need a place to grow and live safely. You have all chosen to go to the hunter's exam and become hunters like me. For that, you need the proper weapons."

She turned and opened a crate. One by one, each was called forward and given weapons they were proficient at using. After the last one took his weapon, she turned to them with a sigh.

"From this point on, your life is your own. You decide on what person you want to be. You know the dangers that come with living in this city and have seen what happens to those who choose not to live by the laws of this area. You know of those who have left Meteor City and what became of them." Prisma said with a blank look. "The minute you leave here you decide how you will live your life. A hunter like me, a guard for the rich and powerful, or a criminal like the phantom troupe. That is your decision. Know this, if you ever kill or hurt a child on purpose you will never set foot on this land again. The sacrifice I made to create a safe haven for our children will not allow a child abuser to set foot on this land as long as I never leave this land. For our people, we must do better by our people."

The 8 nodded their heads.

Prisma smiled at them. "Remember to never forget where you come from and your people. Now I suggest you all head to York New City. A boat will be waiting on you at the dock in 2 days' time. I wish you all the best luck at becoming hunters."

"We will not let you down, Hunter Prisma. We will become hunters and help the children of our city." One of the young men said.

The others nodded their heads in unison. They quickly grabbed their bags and walked through the blue orb that covered the land. Some shuddered as they left the safe haven to venture out into the world. They soon disappeared into the junk yard.

Prisma sighed. It's more than likely she would never see most of them again.

"Hunt Prisma. Hunt Prisma." A child like voice called.

Prisma turned and smiled at the children who ran up to her.

"Well, hello there. Aren't you all supposed to be in class now?" She said with a fake annoyed look.

The three children giggled not answering her question.

Prisma reached down and scooped one of the girls up. "Come on, brats. Go back to class."

The four walked away from the dome wall.

Out of the shadows came a group.

"So this is what the pastor was talking about. She really did make a domed shape fortress here in Meteor City." Shalnark said with a blank look.

"We should kill her. She betrayed us." Feitan said with an angry look at the dome.

Chrollo walked over and touched the dome. His hand refused to go through the dome no matter how much nen force he pushed through his hand.

"From what I have learned, children who agree to follow the rules will get food and a safe space to sleep in return for helping with crops, animals or learning a trade to bring money in." Machi said with a look at the wall. "She trains the children to fight and survive. At adulthood, they have the choice to continue working here or leaving to go out into the world."

"Good for her but she still betrayed us. She left the spiders not caring about our history of friendship." Phinks said crossing his arms. "We owe her nothing and should stop her work."

"I see you all have not changed." A voice said.

They turned and saw Prisma watching them from a few steps away with a blank face.

"I see you have made something of yourself, Prisma or should I call you Hunter Prisma?" Chrollo said with a tilt of his head.

Prisma walked over and stood on the other side of the dome wall. "According to the newspapers, you have continued your level of destruction killing anyone in your way regardless of age. How many victims were children, Phantom Troupe? It's obvious He won't be getting through the barrier."

Nobunaga pulled his blade and slashed it down to the woman only for it to hit the barrier with a loud bang. It never went through.

"Do you think I'm stupid? When I offered my life to create an impenetrable nen barrier, I made it so nothing could make it through whether it's a physical item or," Prisma paused and turned to Chrollo, "a nen induced one."

"You betrayed us. You betrayed me. I was the leader. I was the one who made the decisions on our missions to bring money here. To our home. My decisions have always been the best for our troupe." Chrollo said in anger.

Prisma gave him a blank stare. "I'm sure Uvogin and Pakunoda would disagree if they had survived that York New mission."

Chrollo's eyes widened with shock before narrowing in anger. He had no idea how Prisma knew this but somehow, she was keeping tabs on the troupe.

The others tensed at bringing up the deceased members who died because of the chain user.

A bell rang in the distance and Prisma sighed.

"My life purpose now is to protect our children from those who would hurt them and give them the skills to survive on their own when and if they chose to leave this place." She said with a sad look "I have no fight with the Phantom troupe on how you govern yourselves or your actions. That time has long since passed. This place is not for the likes of you. Leave this place, Phantom Troupe, and never return. You have no place here."

Prisma turned her back on them and walked away.

The members of the phantom troupe watched quietly not saying a word.

Chrollo turned and walked away. The others followed quietly.

Somehow or someway he would get revenge on Prisma for abandoning them.

'One day you will pay, Prisma. Mark my words. You will pay.' Chrollo thought as they left the city.
