16Hello, Thanks for reading my first ever FanFic and story. As such, I will go out of my way to say, the story will not be perfect; the grammar, punctuation and dialogue may be amaetur in nature. The original version was deleted and now am reposting the AO3.
Story Concept: The story will follow a Faunus Girl, named Canela Raxa, after being adopted by the Nikos family during a Faunus Civil Rights protest that deteriorated into chaos; after the reformed White Fang Organization and a Grimm attack.
While being an OC-insert story, I'll do my best to make decisions with more weight than "just because" or "somehow." The plan is for the character to be placed as a Fifth-Member in a team and not in the generic "Odd number of students" reasoning or being inserted without reason. I'll add headcanon in-universe lore that seems reasonable, but may ignore any pre-established lore, in this case it would be that I wasn't aware of the lore.
With the year unknown in RWBY, the Great War is the best frame of reference we have for years, so it goes to say that nearly all of the story will take place after the Great War (AGW) and when/if it happens, Before the Great War (BGW). I'll do my best to keep the copy and paste from the show to a minimum and change the dialogue in the show for a better flow of story. I'll also be posting cut ideas if any exist during each chapter or placing in the Headcanon lore after the chapter.
Now, on to the Character Description, Weapon and Semblance.
Character: Canela Raxa is based of Honduran warrior and leader, Lempira. Canela was born from a lineage of strictly Dog-Like Faunus people. (Due to the lack of Faunus genetics lore this is a head-canon and changes little to the overall canon) Canela possesses more than one animalistic trait. White Dog ears, top canines teeth are a half inch longer, heightened smell and hearing and Low-Light Vision. She'll stand around 5'5" with boots on and 5'3" without them on. With a honey color skin complexion and cinnamon brown hair with a stripe of white that perfectly bisects a high ponytail and looks like a dog tail.
Clothing: Keeping in theme with Lempira and Pyrrha, she wears a gold circlet, not as ornate as Pyrrha's, but a simple thin and circular Circlet. Going down, she wears an off-the-shoulder dress much like traditional Honduran dress, that fits tight to the torso and that ends 5 inches above the knees. Her legs are covered up with stockings that come from under the shirt and end over the knees. Path the knees, there are gold lined-wooden shin guards that go over brown, laced calf-high boots. A leather brown 1 inch red line strap goes from her right shoulder to her left hip, connected to a belt that goes over a red-knee length sash, like Pyrrha's but jutting from the left side rather than the right.
Weapon: Xolotl "SHUH-luht" Inspired by the Aztec Macuahuitl, Canela carries a primary of a 40" sword, 10" of that is a handle and the main body is a bronze-copper colored, with main red line engraved up the body of the weapon, multiple thinner red lines branch out a 45 angle to the serrated blades. The serrated blades are gold colored, 1.5" H x 1" L blades dot up the length that is tipped with a gold spear head, secondary, the handle extends as the bottom 24 serrated blades retract into the body becoming a spear. Lastly, while fully extended the pole can bend and a hard-light string will form. The middle of the fully extended weapon has a sensor that detects the amount of fingers pulling the hard light string and creates arrows. If two fingers are on the string, one arrow is formed, three fingers create two arrows, and four, create three arrows.
Semblance: Canela has yet to awaken her semblance and while I have a few ideas, making one that doesn't become a Macguffin or OP is hard without it completely altering the story.
