Episode 1: Warlord
A bright sunny morning in Shanghai at The Thousand Delights Restaurant Fei Wu was asleep in her bed in the apartment above the restaurant when a voice called her.
"Fei time to get up,"
Fei got up from her bed and got dressed, grabbed her bag and put on her medallion known as the Prodigious and when she did she was greeted by the Renlings.
"good morning Renren," they all said.
"good morning guys," said Fei Wu.
Just then a small little navy-blue lion like spirit flew out from a shelf in Fei's room and Fei chuckled at him.
"good morning Mei Shi," she said.
"good morning Fei," said Mei Shi
Mei Shi flew into her bag and she picked it up and put it around her arm.
Fei went downstairs to The Thousands Delights Restaurant where Marinette's great uncle Wang Cheng was cooking breakfast Fei has been living with Wang Chen for a month and it already felt like a second home since her adopted father died.
"good morning Fei," said Wang.
"good morning Cheng Sifu," said Fei.
Wang smiled at Fei and chuckled
"Fei I told you can call me Wang," said Wang.
"right sorry," said Fei.
Fei sits down and Wang put some breakfast on the table which was a meal of Congee (Chinese Rice Pudding) and Crullers.
Fei sat down and grabbed a spoon and took a bite of her breakfast.
"delicious," said Fei.
Wang smiled at Fei's complement and after Fei finished breakfast Wang's pet parrot bastille flew in.
"good morning to you too bastille," said Fei as she petted him.
"squawk good morning," said Bastille.
"I need to open up the restaurant soon," said Wang.
"right do you need me to do anything?" asked Fei.
"squawk magic ingredient," said Bastille.
"right can you pick up some ingredients from the market?" asked Wang.
"sure thing," said Fei.
Fei finished her breakfast and went out she walked down the street to the food market.
"so, Fei what exactly are you looking for?" asked Mei Shi.
"just a few things good thing Wang gave me a list," Fei taking out a shopping list from her bag.
Fei walked down the street until she reached the market as she picked up ingredients from various stores Fei walked out of a store with a bag of veggies looking at the list.
"ok there's only one more thing on the list," said Fei.
Suddenly there was an explosion at one of the shops
"what was that?" asked Mei Shi.
"nothing good," said Fei.
Fei ran into an alley put down the bags and the Prodigious medallion changed her into a red and yellow bodysuit with black markings and a red, yellow and black domino mask covered her face while her hair changed from dark blue violet to amaranth and her ponytail grew to extend past her shoulders and her eyes changed from dark brownish grey to gold.
"we should see what's going on," said Mei Shi
"right," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon looked at where the smoke was and she had look of determination on her face.
"Ying," Ladydragon called out and she was transformed into an Eagle with a red body and red and black feathers and she flew in the direction of the smoke with Mei Shi following her.
Ladydragon in her eagle form kept flying until she reached a store that was on fire.
"oh no," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon landed and transformed back into her human form and saw two witnesses.
"what happened?" asked Ladydragon.
"I don't know the place just suddenly exploded as I was walking by," said the passerby.
Ladydragon looked shocked and looked back at the fire wondering what to do.
The Renlings appeared in front of Ladydragon and saw the fire
"oh my," said Tang Tang.
"I believe the power of the dragon is needed here," said Long Long.
"I think your right let's do this Long," said Ladydragon.
With those words Ladydragon transformed into a red and yellow dragon with black eyes and three black stripes on her body and a black renling symbol on her head her legs were and she had black claws.
Ladydragon now in her dragon form flew up above the burning building and the she saw a fire hydrant and smiled getting an idea of how to put out the fire she fired a blast of lightning from her mouth breaking off the top of the hydrant causing water to pour out of it she then swirled around the water sending the stream of water right at the burning building putting out the fire after that Ladydragon flew down and changed back to her human form and saw the burned down building when one of the witnesses walked up to her.
"thank you so much you saved my store," he said.
"you're welcome but how did this happen?" asked Ladydragon.
"a muscle-bound thug calling himself War Lord came in yesterday demanding a large amount of money but I refused looks like he decided to retaliate," said the store owner.
"but how?" asked Ladydragon.
"I remember there was a man who came into my store with a briefcase that he left behind," said the owner.
"a bomb," Ladydragon realized.
Just then the Shanghai police department arrived and two officers got out of their car and approached Ladydragon and the store owner.
"what happened here?" asked one of the officers.
"he can fill you in officers," said Ladydragon pointing at the store owner.
The officers went to talk to the store owner and Ladydragon looked back at the burned down building.
"this is terrible," said Ladydragon.
"yes it is," said Mei Shi.
"what should we do?" asked Ladydragon.
"we need to find this man before he strikes again," said Mei Shi.
"yeah your right Mei Shi Ying," said Ladydragon
Ladydragon transforms into her eagle form and flew off but unknown to her a Chinese man is watching from an alley.
Meanwhile in an abandoned factory a man wearing Chinese armor was practicing tai chi when a musclebound Chinese man walked up to him.
"um Warlord ping called there's a problem," said the musclebound Chinese man.
"what is it Lao?" asked Warlord.
"it appears that new hero Ladydragon put out the fire of the store of the man who refused to pay," said Lao.
"I had a feeling she would get involved eventually," said Warlord.
"so, what should we do?" asked Lao.
"don't worry we'll handle this when the time comes," said Warlord.
Later back at The Thousand Delights Fei was in room practicing her kung fu thinking about the fire.
"so where do you think this warlord will strike next?" asked Mei Shi.
"I don't know but I need to find him someone could've gotten hurt in that fire," said Fei.
The Renlings appeared to Fei as she was training and had worried looks on their faces.
"do not worry Fei you will find this man," said Hou Hou.
"yes you just need patience," said Tang Tang.
Fei smiled at the Renlings words and started to feel better.
"you guys are right I need to, relax," said Fei.
Fei stopped practicing and went downstairs and opened the door.
"Wang I'm going for a walk," said Fei.
"ok that's fine," said Wang.
Fei walked through the neighborhood with Mei Shi in her bag when she saw Lian, Jiao and Kang walking by.
"hey guys," said Fei.
Lian, Jiao and Kang blushed upon seeing Fei.
"um hello Fei," said Lian.
"yeah great to see you," said Jiao.
"so did you hear what happened to Ping's Market?" asked Kang.
"um yeah a real shame," said Fei.
"I heard rumors about a new gang in town," said Lian.
"well, it appears the rumors are true," said Jiao.
"it's a god thing Ladydragon showed up when she did," said Kang.
Fei smiled at the complement just then Fei and the boys saw an explosion coming from Downtown Shanghai.
"that doesn't look good," said Lian.
"yeah Fei what do you think that was?" asked Kang.
Lian, Jiao and Kang turned around and much to their confusion she was gone.
"Fei?" asked Jiao.
Fei ran into an alley and transformed into Ladydragon.
"that must be that Warlord guy Ping mentioned," said Mei Shi.
"yeah looks like he's struck again," said Ladydragon.
"do you know where that is?" asked Mei Shi.
"yeah it's somewhere downtown," said Ladydragon.
"you need to get there fast," said Mei Shi.
"Ying," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon transformed into her eagle form and flew downtown towards the smoke.
Later Ladydragon flew downtown in her eagle form and saw a small fire being put out in a bakery.
"oh no," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon flew down and transformed back into her human form and walked over to the fire fighters.
"what happened?" asked Ladydragon.
"the owner said someone left a strange briefcase behind it suddenly exploded causing a fire," said one of the firefighters.
"Warlord he's behind this," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon looked over at a woman giving the police a statement and knew right away that she must have been the owner so she walked over to her.
"excuse me miss can you tell me what happened?" asked Ladydragon.
"let's just say I've learned what happened when you say no to Warlord," said the baker.
Just then Ladydragon saw someone spying on the scene from the alley nearby it was a skinny Chinese man wearing a leather jacket and a gold necklace around his neck and Ladydragon noticed that he was smiling at the scene and her eyes widened as she realized that he must work for Warlord.
"hey you," Ladydragon called out.
The man in the alley ran off when he saw Ladydragon.
"oh no you don't Ying," said Ladydragon transforming into her eagle form
Ladydragon flew off after the man and saw him running and she flew down and transformed back into her human form right in front of the man.
"going somewhere?" asked Ladydragon.
"I um," said the man.
"save it I know you work for Warlord," said Ladydragon.
The Man suddenly looks scared.
"where is he?" asked Ladydragon.
"I'm right here," said a voice.
Ladydragon turned around and saw Warlord standing right behind her and the man she was chasing suddenly looked scared.
"um Warlord sir I can explain," said the man.
"just go," said Warlord.
"yes sir," said the man as he ran off.
"so, you're the one looking into my business," said Warlord.
"yeah and I won't let you hurt people just to make some quick cash," said Ladydragon making a kung fu pose.
Warlord smirked at Ladydragon and struck a similar pose.
Warlord charged at Ladydragon and launched a kick at her which she dodged.
"Xiong," said Ladydragon.
With those words Ladydragon transformed into a bear with a red furry body and yellowish grey hair with gold markings with black jagged outlines on her body and a yellowish gray chocolate drop-like tail, gold eyebrows, inner ears and a gold muzzle and black nose, black clawlike fingernails and sharp jagged teeth.
Ladydragon charged at Warlord and swiped her paw at him and Warlord tumbled back.
"impressive I admit but it won't be enough to stop me," said Warlord.
Ladydragon charged at Warlord again but he grabbed her by her paw and tossed her into a wall causing her to change back into her human form and then he dropped smoke pellets on the ground and made their escape.
Ladydragon watched helplessly as Warlord left with his thug and he had a smug smile on his face.
"this is your only warning child stay out of my way," said Warlord.
Later Fei went back to the Thousand Delights Restaurant and she felt sore while Wang felt concerned he decided not to pry Fei went to room and remembering what happened went back to training she kept doing katas and practicing kung fu on a training dummy while Mei Shi looked watched her getting worried
"Fei are you ok?" asked Mei Shi.
"I'm fine I just need to practice more," said Fei striking a training dummy.
"you know you don't need to work so hard," said Mei Shi.
"Mei Shi I lost," said Fei.
"everyone loses now and again," said Mei Shi.
"I'm Ladydragon the Renren guardian of the Sacred Cave I have to be the best," said Fei.
"you know Fei defeat can be wise teacher but only if we allow ourselves to learn from it," said Mei Shi.
Fei thought about what Mei Shi was saying and thought maybe there was something she could learn from her defeat.
"but what can I learn from this?" asked Fei.
"that is for you to decide," said Mei Shi.
Fei smiled from Mei Shi's words and she started to feel better
"so, what now?" asked Fei.
"well first you need to find Warlord," said Mei Shi.
"right, which means I need to find one of his thugs," said Fei.
Later Ladydragon flew through Shanghai in her eagle form with Mei Shi following her.
"ok we need to find one of Warlord's thugs so we can find him," said Ladydragon.
"but where do we start?" asked Mei Shi.
"Well, he's trying to run a protection racket so we should check out some small businesses," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon flew to the market and looked around the various shops and stores when she saw a suspicious looking man holding a briefcase.
"there's one," said Ladydragon.
"be careful Fei you don't know that for sure it's probably safer to follow him for now," said Mei Shi.
"yeah I guess you're right," said Ladydraon.
Ladydragon followed the suspicious looking man to a small diner where she landed in an alley and changed back into her human form.
"we need to know what he's doing," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon thought for a minute and suddenly she got an idea.
"I think I know how to sneak in," said Ladydragon.
"Tang,"
With those words Ladydragon transformed into a wild mantis with a yellow body and red wing with the Renling symbol on it she had black eyes with glowing green sclera.
Ladydragon in her mantis form ran inside the diner as the man opened the door unnoticed and she hid under a table as the man walked up to the owner who was sweeping the floor.
"can I help you?" asked the owner.
"actually, I'm here to help you," said the man.
"how?" asked the owner.
"well, you know a lot of things can happen to this diner a lot of accidents," said the man walking over to his mini bar.
To the owner's shock he knocked the bottles onto the floor shattering them and spilling the liquid.
"my boss wants money and you need protection so what do you say," said the man.
"get out of my diner now," said the owner.
"now come on everyone needs insurance," said the man.
"I run an honest business and I don't pay punks like you protection money now get out," said the owner.
"fine suit your self but here's my card because I think you'll be changing your mind," said the man
The man put his card on the table and left the diner leaving the owner fuming with rage when he noticed the man's suitcase was on a chair.
"huh what's that doing there?" he asked himself.
Ladydragon's eyes widened as she remembered what happened to Ping's market
"oh no!," she said.
The owner suddenly heard a ticking sound coming from the suitcase and Ladydragon knew right away what it was.
"Ying!,"
Ladydragon transformed into her eagle form and flew out from under the table and used her talons to grab the suitcase and flew out of the diner and she tossed the suitcase into the sky and it exploded safely.
"phew," said Ladydragon relieved.
Ladydragon flew back to the restaurant and changed back into her human form where she saw the diner's owner waiting for her.
"thank you young lady you saved my diner," said the owner.
"you're welcome now if you excuse me I'm going after that guy," said Ladydragon
"Ying,"
Ladydragon transforms into her eagle form and flies out of the diner to find the man.
Ladydragon flew until she saw the man and she dived down and grabbed him by his shoulders and flew him into the sky.
"woah hey put me down," said the man.
"tell me where Warlord is," said Ladydragon
"I I can't he'll kill me," said the man
"he's not your problem right now," said Ladydragon.
The man looked down and saw how high up he was and started sweating in fear.
"alright ok I'll talk," said the man.
"so where is he?" asked Ladydragon.
"he's hiding in an abandoned factory near the docks," said the man.
"see that wasn't so hard," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon took the man to the Shanghai police station and then flew off to the factory.
Ladydragon flew down onto the roof and changed back to her human form and looked in the roof window and couldn't see anything.
"looks it's all clear," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon opened the window and dropped down on the railing and she looked around the factory.
"where are you Warlord?" Ladydragon asked herself.
Ladydragon climbed down the stairs and looked around the factory when she came across a billboard that had newspaper articles about Cash on them.
"what is this?" Ladydragon asked herself shocked.
"you really want to know?" asked a voice.
Ladydragon turned around and saw Warlord behind her and she took a kung fu pose.
"so, this isn't a simple protection racket," Ladydragon guessed.
"oh, far from it you see after Cash was arrested thanks to you it created a power vacuum one I intend to fill," Warlord explained.
"I don't think so," said Ladydragon.
Ladydragon charged at Warlord and launched a few punches at Warlord which he dodged.
"I see you haven't learned from our last encounter," said Warlord smugly.
Warlord grabbed Ladydragon arm and threw her in the air
"Ying,"
Ladydragon transforms into her eagle form and flapped her wings to stay in the air and she started thinking.
"I can't fight him head on so what do I do?" Ladydragon thought to herself.
But then Ladydragon remembered what Mei Shi said.
"defeat can be a wise teacher but only if we allow ourselves to learn from it," his words kept repeating in her head.
"then maybe I'll have to fight smarter," said Ladydragon.
"Tang,"
Ladydragon changed into her mantis form and landed on the floor Warlord stepped on the ground repeatedly but Ladydragon dodged all the attacks.
"Hou,"
With those words Ladydragon transformed into a monkey with red fur and yellow hair, face, hands and feet a long red tail and green eyes.
Warlord charged at Ladydragon and she used her monkey form's acrobatics to dodge and she jumped up and landed some punches on Warlord causing him to tumble back.
"Hu,"
Ladydragon transformed into a red and yellow tiger her top was red and her bottom was yellow she had black stripes, yellow hair and green eyes with yellow sclera.
Ladydragon charged at Warlord and jumped at him and she swipped her paw hitting him causing him to hit the wall.
"it's over," said Ladydragon.
"over?" said Warlord weakly
Ladydragon glared at Warlord as he chuckled weakly at her
"I told you there's a power vacuum in Shanghai and I'm not the only one who wants to fill it so you'd better be ready hero because your life is about to get harder," said Warlord as he started laughing.
Ladydragon punched Warlord and knocked him out giving him a serious glare but then she started to look worried.
Later after the Shanghai police arrived and took Warlord into custody Fei was in her room doing katas Mei Shi floated it up to Fei and saw that she was lost in thought.
"something bothering you Fei?" asked Mei Shi.
The Renlings appear in front of Fei as she practiced.
"what is wrong Renren?" they asked.
"Warlord was right he's likely not the only crook out there who wants to take Cash's place." said Fei.
"perhaps but you still defeated Warlord that's what's important focus on today's victory and don't concern yourself with tomorrow," said Mei Shi.
Fei smiled and started to feel better and hugged Mei Shi.
"your right no matter what happens I'll be ready as long as we're together," said Fei confidently.
Mei Shi and The Renlings smiled at Fei's confidence.
"spoken like a worthy Renren," said Mei Shi.
Fei smiled looking forward to her future adventures as Ladydragon.
